interacting with posts with stolen edits, we are in 2024 and I feel like I don't need to throw a big ass rant about how wrong and disrespectful and nasty it is to our lovely creators, all their effort and how toxic it is to a fandom, specially a little one like ours BUT HERE I AM ONCE AGAIN TALKING ABOUT IT!!!!

Nowadays we have the GIF search engine that links to the original post so you can use that one nice edit you saw etc etc etc

As someone who spends HOURS creating edits to share with other people who love the silly little dumb character it's honestly infuriating and so so sad to see mutuals interacting with stolen edits, it honestly hurt my feelings and it's even discouraging and depressing to see it happening over and over again

I try to stay positive and see the best because hey it can be an honest mistake!!! Could be from someone new and not familiar with how things works on here so that's why I decided to say something to bring awareness to the issue, so please I kindly ask you to talk about it with your mutuals, your friends, your dashboard neighbors and even re-evaluate our behaviour as a tiny but lovely community

thea why are you as a hater of fanfic always providing descriptions of fanfic you hate lol. performance in a leading role is some good shit, i’ve probably read it five times over the years. like i reread that shit even after i swore off of watching sherlock ever again. and it’s not RPFy at all, apart from including actual actors/directors as characters, it really isn’t similar to ben/martin and just the fact that it’s actors au doesn’t make it RPFy, if anything characterization is pretty on point for sherlock/john. fics are meant to be super self indulgent and like performance in a leading role is a good example of au fics done well, maybe you just don’t like them? anyway just my two cents so your followers get a different perspective.

(slow show is dumb though, i hate the way it’s written, you can barely read your way through their bumbling speech patterns. but then i don’t like good omens all that much, so that’s probably a big factor.)

I love fanfic. I have a tag full of fanfic recommendations (including Sherlock fics) and read them to this day. I provided a description of a fic I don’t like because someone asked me about it and it was famous enough back in the day that I gave it a try and so was able to fill them in. I disagree that it’s a good fic. the characterization didn’t work for me at all and the climactic moments all felt manufactured and unearned to me. but I don’t care to litigate the merits of a fic written over a decade ago with you. I think when I express an opinion on my blog and say this fic was “wildly popular” any intelligent person can tell that I am saying I personally didn’t like it.

That said, yeah actors AUs are inherently rpf-y but not because they resemble the original actors (they don’t in this case and they don’t in slow show) but because the very premise is like “what if these fictional characters but rpf this time.” That’s why someone made a joke about it in my ask to begin with

I find it very ironic how the same cultish looser that shuns people based on who they're friends with because she genuinely thinks if you believe something you can't have human interactions or treatment to those who believes otherwise..... will preach hard and proud against harassment for people's headcanons, ships and takes whereas being friends with the person who did harass people's headcanons, ships and takes. But why rules are always only for their victims and never for them? What's so hard about following what you preach? Hearing it in Boba's childish tenor instead was far worse.

A minor miracle in that this is actually Sunday and the last seven lines I wrote actually work well as a lil snippet. I didn't do either of things on purpose but I'm so very pleased to have done them properly at last.
