TLNM Garmadon constantly firing his Shark Army when they give him ideas while he asked for them is quite similar to Show Garmadon throwing the Serpentine army overboard when they did the same thing.

GOD, possibly one of my favorite moments EVER is when the Overlord tells Lloyd "you are all alone" and Lloyd responds by removing his hood and going "No, I'm not. My father's still in you, he won't fight with me", and then the next bit with Garmadon trying to resist the Overlord is just... ugh it tugs at my heartstrings the way Lloyd genuinely cares so much for his dad...

Gertrude Hellebore ref seasons 1-2

Season 1

She doesn't do much this season, she's introduced as Mystake's adopted daughter/student when Wu comes to buy traveler's tea from her shop.

I don't have anything else story wise so here's some info: she's a witch, and in my canon witches are their own species separate from humans or serpentine who have a connection to nature that allows them to use the elements on a smaller scale. I'm planning on going more into detail about it in separate post but there are two types, solis and luna witches. Gertie is a luna witch.

Season 2

In this season Gertie officially joins the team during the events of Child's Play, Mystake allows her to leave the shop then go with Nya and Wu to help the ninja.

She and Nya quickly hit it off. Nya discovering Gerts love for science and magic, and Gert fascinated by Nyas skill in technology and robotics.

She spends the rest of the season helping them where she can and getting better at using her abilities.

Cat-like Oni

The thing I love most about people comparing Oni to cats is that lore wise it actually makes sense and it might be true.

In Chinese mythology (as far as I can tell at least, feel free to correct me) the Yang (good) is represented by the dragon. The Yin (bad) however, is represented by the tiger, which is in fact a big feline. So Oni, the supposed embodiment of evil and the opposite of dragon, sharing some traits with cats actually makes sense!

It also means that Lloyd’s animal symbol is in fact the Yang side meaning not balance and that the whole balance bs they keep spouting actually is not something the FSM did and Lloyd should have kept the snake symbol since it is literally the perfect symbol of balance when you look into it but he is instead now making those same mistakes but oh well

I am just now realizing that the look of the Bizarro Ninja is meant to make them look like Garmadon back before he was banished

And that’s probably why Wu had such a reaction to seeing Bizarro Kai without his sunglasses and seeing his red eyes

Today's Daily Dose of Angst:

Garmadon spent most of his life struggling against the venom. He resisted its thrall for centuries. Its unclear what caused his eventual downward spiral and banishment, but we can reasonably assume it happened roughly 10 years pre-canon.

Even so, Garmadon still resisted the venom, still held onto his love for his wife and son. No matter how evil he became, he never lost sight of how much he loved his family. It took being possessed by an ancient embodiment of darkness for him to fight his son. He technically didnt even do that much of his own will.

And because of how deeply he cared for Lloyd, Lloyd cared for him as well. And thanks to his son's love, he was able to become cleansed of the Devourer's venom, finally regaining the autonomy that he'd been slowly losing for centuries.

Garmadon loved his son, Lloyd loved his father, and their love for each other is what saved him in the end.

When he sacrifices himself in season 4, and when he and Lloyd say their farewells in season 5, its an act of love. Garmadon is doing this for his family. For his son. And when Lloyd reluctantly recites the spell to banish his father, thats an act of love too. And because Lloyd did this, Garmadon was martyred, earned a statue in the Corridor of Elders, and became remembered as a hero. Once more, Lloyds love for his father enabled his father to do good.

BUT THEN SEASON 8 HAPPENS. AND ALL THE GOODNESS, ALL THE LOVE GARMADON WORKED SO HARD TO HOLD ONTO, HAS BEEN RIPPED AWAY FROM HIM. AND NOW HE'S A CRUEL, BITTER SHELL OF HIS FORMER SELF WHO DOESNT LOVE LLOYD AND ACTIVELY TRIES TO KILL HIM. AND LLOYD THINKS HIS LOVE WILL BE ENOUGH TO SAVE HIS DAD AGAIN THIS TIME, BUT ITS NOT. AND THIS TIME, HIS LOVE FOR HIS FATHER IS THE THING THAT ALMOST GETS HIM KILLED.
