Come! Let Us Dance!
(by NV Bennett)
Sometimes when it seems
the world is moving towards an end
and chaos is just outside the door
I sing to my sisters:
.
Come! Let us dance!
Let us whirl through the dark night
till the morning dew washes our feet
till the warm sun finds us
asleep on her bosom.
Come!  Let us dance a new world into being!

Excalibur Hotel and Casino, NV
Excalibur Hotel and Casino is a casino hotel on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, in the United States. It is owned by Vici Properties and operated by MGM Resorts International. The resort features a medieval castle theme and is named after King Arthur's mythical Excalibur sword. Property features include a 92,389 sq ft (8,583.2 m2) casino, a 28-story hotel with 3,981 rooms, and various restaurants.
The $290 million property was developed by Circus Circus Enterprises. The castle theme was conceived by company founder William Bennett, and the resort was designed by Veldon Simpson. Bennett and the design team traveled to castles throughout Europe for inspiration. Construction began in October 1988, and the resort opened on June 19, 1990. It was the largest hotel in the world until the opening of the nearby MGM Grand in 1993.
The medieval castle theme was conceived by Circus Circus founder William Bennett, and the resort was designed by Veldon Simpson. Bennett studied old castle renderings, and he and Simpson visited castle sites in England and Germany for design inspiration. Simpson's Excalibur design was inspired particularly by Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. Trademark experts were hired to avoid replicating the castle designs at Disneyland and Disney World. The Excalibur's medieval architecture includes stone turrets, and a moat and drawbridge.

Bandhan Makes Bold Move: Acquires Aegon Life, Eyes Insurance Domination
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a move that significantly expands its reach beyond banking and mutual funds, Bandhan Financial Holdings, the promoter of Bandhan Bank, has officially acquired Aegon Life Insurance. This acquisition, finalized in February 2024, marks a significant moment for the Indian financial landscape. Here's a breakdown of the details and potential implications: From Aegon Life to Bandhan Life: A Brand New Chapter Previously known as Aegon Life Insurance, a joint venture between Dutch insurance giant Aegon NV and Bennett, Coleman & Company (owner of The Economic Times), the company has been rechristened Bandhan Life. This rebranding signifies a fresh start and a deeper integration into the Bandhan group. Synergy and Growth: The Driving Forces Satishwar B., the MD and CEO of Bandhan Life, emphasizes the strategic benefits of the acquisition. He highlights the "collaborative strengths of digital innovation and robust distribution" that both entities bring to the table. Bandhan Bank's extensive network, particularly in rural areas, coupled with Aegon Life's digital prowess, creates a powerful combination for expanding insurance penetration in India. An Aggressive Growth Strategy on the Horizon Bandhan Life has announced an ambitious plan to solidify its position as a major player in the insurance industry. The company plans to recruit an additional 1,000 employees to bolster its existing team. This expansion signifies their commitment to building a robust distribution network and reaching a wider customer base. What This Means for Consumers While the full impact of the acquisition is yet to be seen, it has the potential to benefit consumers in several ways: - Increased Product Availability: Bandhan Life might leverage its wider reach to offer a broader range of insurance products, catering to diverse customer needs. - Enhanced Accessibility: With Bandhan Bank's extensive branch network, especially in rural areas, insurance products could become more accessible to previously underserved populations. - Focus on Digitalization: The combined expertise of both companies could lead to the development of innovative and user-friendly digital insurance solutions. A Competitive Landscape: The Road Ahead The Indian insurance sector is a dynamic one, with established players like Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and private companies vying for market share. Bandhan Life will need to navigate this competitive landscape by capitalizing on its unique strengths and delivering exceptional customer service. Overall, the acquisition of Aegon Life by Bandhan Financial Holdings is a significant development in the Indian financial sector. It has the potential to reshape the insurance landscape by increasing accessibility, innovation, and competition. Consumers can look forward to a wider range of insurance options and potentially more convenient access to these products. Read the full article

Intercultural Making Creative Project:
"Where Are You Really From?"
Tumblr media
Whilst trying to come up with a project idea, I got to thinking a lot about what I watched while growing up and how it had more of an impact on me than a lot the other things that surrounded my being raised. I've taken inspiration from the readings which also informed me of personal experiences being a person of colour in a mostly western world, hence the title ""Where Are You Really From?"". I chose this title because it summarises my project nicely, showing that I'm not as different as people would assume, while also subtly hinting at the passive aggressive tones of the people who ask this particular question. I chose to do this particular project to bring attention to the lack of diversity among popular formats of popular tv shows, and to express my feelings of being left out, having to squeeze myself into a world where it feels as if I'm not welcome.

Slots-A-Fun is a casino located next to Circus Circus Hotel and Casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. The casino is currently owned by MGM Resorts International and opened in mid-1971. The casino has a bar which is staffed 24 hours a day and 1-2 cocktail waitresses. The casino also has a few bowling lanes. The casino opened on August 5, 1971 and replaced the merry-go.

Slots of fun is a whole new world now. All of the machines have been updated with the hottest games on the market. The property has brought back the hot dog specials and draft specials. Come check it out! Went to Vegas the week before Christmas (slowest week for Vegas so table limits are low and the streets are relatively empty). Stayed in the middle of the strip, but had the most fun in Slots A Fun. They had full pay VP at the bar, $1 and $3 blackjack tables with no wait, and all-in-all, a great deal. Slots-A-Fun Casino is a casino on the Las Vegas Strip. It is owned and operated by Phil Ruffin. It is adjacent to Circus Circus Las Vegas.
Slots-A-Fun is one of the smallest casinos operating on the Strip, and once offered some of the lowest table-game betting minimums on the famed street. As of 2008, players could wager as little as $2 at craps and $1 at blackjack. The craps table was directly located at the main open-air entrance and, of all gaming tables in Las Vegas, was the gaming table that located closest to the traffic of the Strip.
The casino no longer hosts live table games. As of 2011, the only games were slots and electronic table games. There is a bar, a Subway restaurant, a gift shop, a mini-bowling alley, and an area with bar games, such as pool and shuffleboard.

History(edit)
Slots-A-Fun was opened in August 1971 by Jay Sarno, owner of the Circus Circus.(1)(2)
Draairichting reserverend. In 1974, management of the casino was assumed by Ross W. Miller, a former Circus Circus executive (and father of eventual Nevada governor Bob Miller).(3)(4)(5) Miller was reported to be leasing the premises from the Teamsters Union,(3) which had provided some of the financing to develop Circus Circus.(6) The move came at about the same time that Sarno, having been implicated in a bribery scandal, handed operations of Circus Circus over to Bill Bennett and Bill Pennington.(6)
In 1975, gaming executive Carl Thomas bought into the casino as an equal partner with Miller, who died later that year.(4)(5)(7) In 1979, however, Thomas was exposed as being involved in casino skimming operations on behalf of the Kansas City mob. Two FBI informants claimed that the mob owned a secret interest in Slots-A-Fun through Allen Dorfman, though that claim was never substantiated.(8) Thomas's gaming licenses were revoked, and he was forced to sell his casino interests.(9) Miller's estate and Thomas sold Slots-A-Fun to Bennett and Pennington's company, Circus Circus Hotels, Inc. (later known as Circus Circus Enterprises and then Mandalay Resort Group).(10)(11)(12)
For many early years Slots-A-Fun was famous for giving out free bags of fresh-popped popcorn for early morning gamblers but these promotions have been discontinued.
Merger with Circus Circus(edit)

A blog reported that on July 1, 2009, Slots-A-Fun would begin the re-branding process in order to be incorporated into Circus Circus Las Vegas.(13)
