Review: Oblivity Season 2
What better way to ring in the New Year than hiding from the hot, hot, heat under the air con and listening to Oblivity's season 2 finale! As per usual, it was top entertainment. Further thoughts below from our Podchaser review:
Tumblr media
If you haven't listened yet, go to! If you have, thoughts?
Also, any recommendations on what to listen to next? We need to fill the Falconer-Christy-Lowell-Burney shaped hole in our hearts!

True Tales of the Illuminati needs YOUR help to fund a third season!
Big news! We just launched our indiegogo to crowdfund the third season of our show, True Tales of the Illuminati.
Tumblr media
True Tales is our full-cast audio comedy about conspiracies gone wrong, where a group of illuminati goons bounce haplessly throughout history snatching defeat from the jaws of other, weirder defeats.
In our first season (which you can listen to here or on your podcatcher of choice) , our gang of Illuminauts failed to keep the pyramids a secret. In the second, they failed to fake the moon landing so hard that they had to actually land on the moon. In the third, Beck and the gang will be going up against their toughest foe yet - the Enlightenment.
That’s right, reason IS the font of goodness, and it’s back to the 18th century to deal with the likes of Denis Diderot, Johanne Weishaupt, and Wolfgang Goethe. Can they match their scintillating wit? Create an objective test of intellectual acumen? Kiss?
We've been acclaimed by the AV Club on their Podmass roundup and made it to the finalists in the 2020 and 2022 Audioverse awards.
We've also had the following very kind words said about us:
"True Tales of the Illuminati is the wackiest, most ridiculous fun. Get swept away into a witty, space-time spanning rollercoaster ride of Looney Tunes hijinks and cartoonish comedy. It reminds me of my favourite audio fiction comedies, from Victoriocity and Wooden Overcoats to Oblivity and The Amelia Project. If you want your ears full of laugh out loud audio mayhem, please help bring this project to life!"
Ella Watts, BBC Studios, Doctor Who Redacted
"One of the funniest scripted podcasts out there, with brilliant characters and a wildly imaginative world. We need more!"
Tom Crowley, Wooden Overcoats, Victoriocity, Crowley Time with me, Tom Crowley
"True Tales is a fantastic, hilarious workplace satire, perfect for the post-truth era."
Henry Galley, Less is Morgue co-creator
Pretty good, right? If you're intrigued, if you like the show, if you want to help us make more, please head over to our indiegogo and drop us a few dollars. If you drop us more than a few, we even have rewards, like early access, stickers, pins, and more!
Oh, and did we mention that we're releasing 15-30 minute standalone minisodes as we hit our funding goals? The first one is already out for your enjoyment here, and we’ll be releasing new ones for every $3k raised. If we hit our $9000 goal, we'll drop a minisode by very special guest writer and performer, Tom Crowley! That’s right, the one from the pull quote! Tom’s one of our favorite writers and performers and he’s given us an incredible minisode, so as you can imagine, we really want to share it with you. So help us do just that!
Making this show is a labor of love, but we also need to pay our actors, our sound designer and rent studio space to make this as great as we can. Thank you so much if you decide to be a part of that. If you decide to donate, head on over to truetalesteam.com/crowdfund. We hope to see you there.

My media this week (20-26 Aug 2023)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my absolute fave line in all of heartstopper, so glad they left it unaltered
📚 STUFF I READ 📚
😍 how a resurrection really feels (LiarsandThieves22) - 176K, steddie - post s4 fixit with a timeline merge - just brilliantly executed, lots of great emotional moments as well as even more laugh out loud ones. Big, big rec.
🙂 The Wedding Bait (Golden Years #1) (Adele Buck, author & narrator) - novella; cishet romance but MCs in their 50s, which was a nice change
😊 Murder at the Village Fair (Miss Underhay Mysteries #13) (Helena Dixon, author; Karen Cass, narrator) - Matt & Kitty are on a sort-of delayed honeymoon & get involved in murder in Yorkshire while visiting his aunt
😊 here there be dragons (theundiagnosable) - 66K, original hockey fic - epitome of sunshine/grumpy - POV char has extreme anxiety/anxiety-induced paranoia/anger outbursts due to fear etc - he gets better & it does end very happily but first we gotta watch him train wreck everything & suffer (to be clear, I did enjoy reading this! but it's a lot!)
🥰 Lemon Meringue Lies (Nejinee) - 111K, technically stucky modern no-powers AU but honestly such an AU that it's really more of original fic WHICH ISN'T at all bad - best friends to lovers, lots of oblivousness, pining, angst, emotional dumbassery but also a really great external setting & compelling supporting characters (who just all happen to have names/physical traits as MCU characters) [reread]
😍 if I'm gonna get back to you someday (napricot) - 46K, post Endgame fixit with "a clusterfuck of Steves" from different multiverses [reread for stucky bookclub]
😍 Golden Handcuffs (seekwill) - 70K, Good Omens human AU where they're both professors at a small Scottish university - brilliant fic, great characterizations, solid story development, absolutely loved it
💖💖 +246K of shorter fic so shout out to these I really loved 💖💖
Mandatory Fun (One-EyedBossman (desert000rose), SecretFandomStories) - MCU: stucky, 39K - Part 11 of Differently Okay Local Idiots; Bucky & Steve go suit shopping with Natasha & together navigate another bump in their road
To the Waters and the Wild (rainbow_nerds) - MCU: magical shrunkyclunks, 23K - selkie!Bucky finds Captain America frozen when he's 10 years old, but no one believes him; ~15 years later, Cap finally thaws out
To Kiss the Tender Inward of Thy Hand (circ_bamboo) - Band Sinister (KJ Charles): Ned Caulfield/George Penn, 32K - beautiful backstory of how Ned & George met
Sit (fandomfluffandfuck) - MCU: stucky, 21K, Part 1 of You Can('t) Teach An Old Dog New Tricks - modern, no powers AU - promising start to a series about older/old guard dom Steve & newbie dom Bucky

Hi all!
I'm looking for some fiction podcasts/radio dramas that are NOT horror, fantasy, or science fiction. While I love both those genres, that seems to be the only kinds I can find and I want something else.
I'm looking for something lighthearted. Something like a workplace comedy. Something funny. Throw some found family in it. Something super chill to listen to. Maybe even sketch comedy like.
But NOT horror, fantasy, dnd, science fiction or true crime. I've got plenty of those. WTN, Wolf 359, Oblivity, Magnus Archives, The Strange Case of the Starship Iris, The Bright Sessions. Listen to them and more. Like dozens of those. I do not want more spooky or fantasy/dnd style podcasts/radio dramas. I am up to my eyeballs on those kinds.
I love them, I do, but 90% of podcasts and radio dramas seem to be speculative fiction set in space or an alternate reality with aliens or horroresque elements and I just want something fun, lighthearted set in the real world. That's all I want. Think along the lines of Cabin Pressure. Or John Finnemores Souvenir Program. Or Wooden Overcoats.
Anyone have any recs at all?

Queer Rep in Oblivity
Title: Oblivity
Status: Complete first season, hiatus as season 2 is in production.
    Writer and Director: Rob Stringer
Cast: Cate Nunn, Hannah Wilmshurst, Max Windich, Ash Hunt, Guy Grimsley, Phil Cotterill, James Silk, Justine Malone, Clare Denton, Ashley Bowden, Rachel Wilmshurst, Ida Berglöw Kenneway, Ed Blagrove, Alistair Nunn, Ralph Watson

Summary: Following years in front line combat, a disgraced hero is posted to the remote ice plains of Pluto on her toughest mission yet: to oversee a small, dysfunctional research team.
Battle-scarred and bewildered, Commander Falconer only wants to return to the comfort of combat. Making life difficult for her are thrill-seeker and wannabe overachiever, Christy; enigmatic and prodigious Burney; and impulsive wrecking-ball and resident cyborg, Lowell.
Billions of miles from civilisation, and on the edge of infinity, the crew face insurmountable threats, meet unspeakable villains, and generally get on each others’ nerves.
Oh, and that war may be closer than Falconer thinks…
