tag nine people you'd like to know better
I. favourite colours: maroon, purple, mustard yellow, lilac, mint, so many more i could go on for a long time.
II. favourite flavours: vanilla, pumpkin, white chocolate, honey -- lots of sweets!
III. favourite genres: a lot of speculative fiction/sci-fi & fantasy (obviously lmao).
IV. favourite music: pop, some alternative, indie I guess ?? I'm not sure what that title means anymore tbh. my favorite music tends to be by queer people.
V. favourite movies: I'm not that big on movies actually! I love Ghibli and I do like to go to the movies, so like, I do watch them, but I can't think of a list of favorites.
VI. favourite series: aaaaa ok this is a longer list -- Nathan for You, GBBO, Gilmore Girls, I Think You Should Leave, Sailor Moon, Black Mirror, and all the terrible dating shows my best friend and I love to watch.
VII. last song: True Blue -- boygenius
VIII. last series: My Happy Marriage
IX. last movie: The Boy and the Heron
X. currently reading: I'm kind of reading Danny Lavery's Dear Prudence book. I pick it up some nights and then it collects dust on my nightstand for a week or so -- not for a lack of interest! I just have trouble zeroing in on books sometimes. I've been reading a lot more fanfiction lately than actual books.
XI. currently watching: Nothing show-wise right now. But if listening to something kind of counts, I listen to podcasts a lot and I've been working through the (extremely generous, hooray) backlog of episodes from 99% Invisible.
XII. currently working on: a Barnabas gifset & a Cid/Clive gifset, rearranging my desk to fit a couple more plants in the shelf section, and then stuff here ofc :~)
tagged by: @tsckcyomi & @creatrix-mea -- thank you both! :3 tagging: (and I'm sorry if any of you have done this and I missed it!) @phoenix-flamed @cagedfirebird @strangerrebelled @flamesofrebirths @bymargrace @braskide @madrites @bestboygav @starspurn

10 Mutuals I'd Like to Know Better
Thanks for the tag, @dulcidyne and @westernlarch !
Last song I listened to: Goldfrapp - Beast That Never Was
Favorite content to watch: sci-fi (some faves are For All Mankind, The Expanse, Event Horizon, Alien), horror (Haunting of Hill House, Yellowjackets, found footage genre), long-running sitcoms (Gilmore Girls, Frasier, Community), DELICIOUS MESSY DRAMAS (Succession, Suits), anything Taika Waititi's involved in
Favorite games: Mass Effect, Horizon Zero Dawn, BotW, TotK, LoZ Majora's Mask, Donkey Kong Country 2
Favorite color: green-leaning teal
Favorite animals: mustelids, giraffes/okapis
Favorite food: tacos, halo-halo, pickled things, a plate fixed with the following: fried cornbread w/ fresh sliced tomato and collard greens w/ vinegar and Tabasco sauce—perfect bite 🤌
Sweet, spicy, or savory: SPICY 🌶️
Current obsessions: BG3 got me too 😁 Otherwise it's this sci-fi/horror ME fic I'm working on that cropped up out of nowhere amidst a field of active wips
Last book I read: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (thanks so much for the rec, @dulcidyne!). Currently reading Cixin Liu's The Wandering Earth short story collection, and it's SO good
Last thing I googled: "jupiter brain youtube"
Relationship: long-term monogamy, cohabitating
Fun fact: I got to be a (very random???) guest on the Dear Prudence podcast when I chatted with Danny Lavery after a Dear Prudence Live show in DC. We chatted about conflict resolution and I didn't think he was serious when he invited me on the show but he was! I will not say which episode out here bc I'm painfully embarrassed by how I sound lol but if you're curious, message me and I can dig up the link
Tagging @dispatchwithlove @angry-jager @dwarrowdams @kalliesa @misseffect @otemporanerys @wingsy-keeper-of-songs @jtownnn

i just had the craziest thing happen. like, a couple of months ago at this point i sent in an anonymous (and very emotionally loaded tbh) question to dear prudence. well i just thought to search and see if it had been published. it had been published in a podcast where LeVar Burton was guest cohosting and he answered the question in such detail and compassion which like. what a wild fucking ride it's a weird one but it's my first technical celebrity encounter which is. just wild

Profiles of Pride: June 27th! 🏳️‍🌈Daniel M. Lavery🏳️‍🌈
Daniel M. Lavery (born November 28, 1986) is an American author and editor. He is known for having co-founded the website The Toast, and written the books Texts from Jane Eyre (2014), The Merry Spinster (2018), and Something That May Shock and Discredit You (2020). He wrote Slate's "Dear Prudence" advice column from 2016 to 2021. As of 2022, he hosts a podcast on Slate titled Big Mood, Little Mood. In 2017, he started a paid e-mail newsletter on Substack titled Shatner Chatner, renamed to The Chatner in 2021.
Lavery grew up in northern Illinois and then San Francisco, one of three children of the evangelical Christian author and former Menlo Church pastor John Ortberg and Nancy Ortberg, who is also a pastor and the CEO of Transforming the Bay with Christ. He attended Azusa Pacific University, a private, evangelical Christian university in California. While a student, Lavery appeared on Jeopardy!, Show #5816 of Monday, December 21, 2009, and finished in third place.
Lavery has credited the work of Shirley Jackson and her novel We Have Always Lived in the Castle, in particular, and John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress as influential.
Lavery identifies as queer. In February 2018, he spoke to Autostraddle about the process of gender transitioning while writing The Merry Spinster. In March 2018, he was interviewed by Heather Havrilesky in New York magazine's The Cut about coming out as trans.
In November 2018, he and partner Grace Lavery, an associate professor of English at UC Berkeley and "the most followed transgender scholar in the world on social media" including Twitter and Instagram, announced their intention to marry. They were married on December 22, 2019.

#SCI FI HAUNTED SPACE STATION DRIVER#
#SCI FI HAUNTED SPACE STATION FULL#
Since QCODE produced Carrier, listeners can expect big-budget production, sound effects, and acting. Another great thing about Carrier is that it’s a completed show, though the ending feels a bit lackluster to me.
#SCI FI HAUNTED SPACE STATION DRIVER#
In the science fiction horror, follow a truck driver as she takes one last job to be able to afford to make it home, but the job may end up costing her life. I’ve reviewed Carrier a few times in other articles because it’s a bit of a crossover and genre-bending hit from QCODE. Through audio recordings, letters, emails, and more, the two unearth the locked away memories of their time during the pandemic, the time happening right now for all of us.Īpple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Stitcher | Website | RSS Carrier Are we choosing our friends and lovers based on the pandemic and our forced closeness? Covid39 follows a couple who are curious if their love stems from the fact that their families lived together during the pandemic. The science fiction audio drama is set 39 years in the future but looking back on current times in a way that calls into question our existing relationships and circumstances. That’s why I wanted to recommend Covid39 again. New variations are cropping up like bad pop hits, and we are all still processing the impacts of Covid on ourselves, our loved ones, and the world around us.
#SCI FI HAUNTED SPACE STATION FULL#
All the series have wrapped up, so new listeners can check out all seven full seasons of The Bright Sessions universe.Īpple Podcasts | Pocket Casts | Stitcher | Website | RSS | Transcripts Covid39 While listeners still get to spend time with the doctor, new characters and troubles are introduced to keep the story raging on. A new spinoff series, the AM Archives, started to run for a few episodes before switching over to another new spinoff of The Bright Sessions, The College Tapes. While The Bright Sessions is an old favorite among many science fiction audio drama listeners, during 2021, they did something a little different. This landmark in science fiction podcasts deals with trauma in interesting and sometimes healing ways, providing a unique experience for the listener. The Bright Sessions follows a doctor who provides therapy to those experiencing strange and unusual events. And if you’ve already listened to the show, why not refamiliarize yourself with the world, characters, and humor of Solutions to Problems before the new season airs?Īpple Podcasts | Pocket Casts | Google Podcasts | Website | RSS | Transcripts The Bright Sessions But! They announced over the winter that another season is still in the works, so now is the perfect time for new listeners to jump on one of the great science fiction podcasts. I will note that there hasn’t been a new season since the end of 2020. It doesn’t just end there, though, Solutions to Problems crafts a whole world and universe across the 30+ episodes. While the show is set on a spaceship traveling through the galaxy, the questions and advice they get into sometimes borders on relatable. Solutions to Problems is a science fiction audio drama in the style of Dear Prudence advice columns. Unless stated otherwise, they should all be listened to in order. So, for all my other science fiction audio drama stans out there, here are 35 science fiction podcasts to dive into.Īs with all our lists, this article will be updated frequently to give you doses of new great science fiction podcasts. Science fiction podcasts give us the space to dream and think about our own lives simultaneously! Or you can follow a kid around the galaxy as they get into wacky and wild adventures involving sentient ships, aliens, and more. Like The Bright Sessions! It’s a typical story wrapped in science fiction trappings, giving us something to relate to, think about, and imagine. Due to genre conventions, science fiction audio dramas can go to places other nonspeculative fiction podcasts can’t. And while I’m not sure about all that, I do know science fiction podcasts are fantastic. Some listeners I’ve spoken with have even said it pretty much dominates the field of audio drama. Science fiction podcasts encapsulate a broad and diverse section in the audio drama and fiction world.
