Would love to hear ur thoughts on Hades game sometime because I too loved but had beef with the game and I think we are the same ….

yessss, disclaimer I haven't played it for like 3 years and I only played 10 hours/got to the end once before I dropped it so i might be misremembering some things but I stick by my opinions! under the cut cuz this is long as fuck 🫣 my haterism has no limits

ok so basically my grievances w hades can be split into 2 main areas: gameplay + narrative, I'll break them down in that order.

firstly gameplay - roguelikes/lites are my fave genre so I was predominantly approaching hades from this angle + its failure here is the clincher for me.

I found the gameplay repetitive and stale. this isnt a criticism of its permadeath like ive seen some ppl make - I usually relish repetition/grind especially in permadeath-based games bc I find tactical challenge fun + love the learning curve, its soooo rewarding. but hades is ultimately just a glorified button masher. mob/boss movesets are boring + unoriginal, and can generally all be fought the same way. trying to do otherwise drags out fights; it actively discourages emergent gameplay so theres little variance WITHIN runs. the pool of rooms for procedural generation is far too small so theres little variance BETWEEN runs. there's no real challenge to combat, difficulty is mainly increased by heightened mob tankiness as you get further in a run. movement/combat doesn't flow well, its mechanically very weak, relying heavily on its permanent upgrade system instead of developing skill in the way you approach the game. all the weapons feel clunky and don't really offer any unique challenge/benefit so theres virtually no point switching between them and the grind to unlock them all is so pointless… god there are just SOOO many hack n slash crawlers that keep it fresh even for hundreds of hours and hades fails miserably at keeping it fresh for even 5 measly hours :^/

I didnt like the boon system either - its far too simplistic + shallow. its fine to rely on chance, this is part of the random generation, and I think it had a lot of potential in that it was a good way of combining aesthetic w gameplay itself. but this is pretty much the only form of resource management - and theres barely any management to it! theres no reward for exploring different builds, they dont really synergise BETWEEN gods in interesting or useful ways, so the game encourages you to just stick with one god throughout, and biases random generation towards boons youve already collected. part of the fun for me is learning HOW to design a build, and working with the randomiser to play flexibly, but hades just isnt interested in that at all...

also - I don't like the permanent upgrade system, I think this detracts from it as a rogue. every time you should be starting on square 1 - maybe you pick up health upgrades etc throughout each run, and maybe you unlock new weapons etc for the random generation pool, or purely cosmetic upgrades, but the point of permadeath is that it RESETS! zags base health + dmg should be the same 50 hours into the game as when u first open it. make a different genre of game if u dont wanna do that lol. I also think IF youre going to say fuck it and add a permanent upgrade system, you should also add unlockable permanent biome shortcuts bc ur just making it boring as fuck to have to waste time grinding thru earlier biomes with unskippable combat once youre op for them.

I GET that they did this to make the game more accessible* to players who dont typically enjoy rogues, but it just makes it really disappointing for those of us who DO love rogues, and it always feels cheap to me when games are like "well of you want challenge then set the difficulty yourself with these modifiers 🙄" like just make the base difficulty TOUGH up front and then add an easy/story mode and accessibility features* for players who don't want the challenge.. if you're gonna call yourself a rogue the gameplay should be the PRIORITY not a throwaway option

one of my biggest peeves with hades is how people now laud it as one of the best rogues - whenever I mention I like the genre I almost always get asked "oh, like hades?" and it pisses me off so much… its a rogueLITE not roguelike, ie. it has rogue ELEMENTS but its not a true one and imo, it does a pretty shit job implementing them! I would have a lot less resentment towards it if it wasnt marketed as the forefront of the rogue genre - frankly its a very basic rogue with very mid gameplay, its characters/design are by FAR its strong point and it should be sold as such. its misleading and makes me sad that this is what most people think of when they hear rogue :-(

*(side note - accessibility in this game is another major flaw. theres really no excuse for a game as popular as this to be so lacking in accessibility options. allow people to bind keys together or use coloured outlines or have colourblindness settings or alter font/text size etc - its not that hard! dead cells did a great job of this lol)

anyway... moving onto my second criticism - narratively, its also unsatisfying.

the hades plot is, loosely, about a cycle of abuse, so the 2 natural directions to go in with this are either: #1: escaping the cycle, or #2: continuing it forever.

#2 is the easiest to do with a rogue format - bc of permadeath the game is already cyclical, so all you have to do is create an ending which loops perfectly back to the start (smth like 'its impossible to truly defeat/reconcile with his father so even after zag beats him, hades drags him back to the start again). obviously this is a miserable story to tell, but tbh I think it wouldve been interesting + fitting - so much of greek mythos is about cycles and the unchanging nature of the gods, and they LOVED eternal cyclical punishments. plus theres smth rly tragic about zag gradually helping everyone else while no one else can save him from his family LOL

#1 is a bit harder to do - this is the story they WANTED to tell but I just don't think it worked… the driving force plot-wise is his desperation to escape. realistically for this to happen the game needs to be finite, which it can't be due to its rogue nature - somehow you have to end up at the very start again. the main solutions I can think of for this are:

a) after the final boss, insert some time travel shenanigans (easy to fit into the worldbuilding using a character like kronos) and all of zags progress with hades is unspooled. this can be completely out of his control, or it could be a choice the player makes (to end the game here or choose to go back and relive zags past in order to progress npc questlines). eg. what happens in dead cells. again, tragic but it makes more sense to me

-or b) bite the bullet and give the game a completely finite ending after beating hades. if players want to go back and play more to complete other npc questlines, they pick up play from before they beat hades. this isnt explained "narratively" bc the plot is already concluded and now theyre just playing for fun (eg. what going under does)

I also think for a character-focused story-rich game, roguelite was a really terrible choice of genre as it locks every interaction behind pure chance and hours of grinding - just really baffling why they decided to do this, especially when theyve had such success previously making games within different genres (transistor, bastion, pyre). the core of the issue for me is that the devs wanted to create a game that was both story rich AND a rogue - and these things arent mutually exclusive, but the best features of each contradict each other when you try to balance them in a way to appease their respective fans (ie. the challenge/complexity of the gameplay is heavily restricted by keeping it easy for ppl unfamiliar with rogues to pick up, but the strength of the narrative arc is simultaneously weakened by the fact that as a rogue it has to be perpetual bc of permadeath + you're working with procedural generation…)

I'm not going to beef with the artstyle or music bc I rly loved them both (even if I wish the body diversity was better!), or with the interpretations of greek gods bc literally every piece of media abt greek mythos has to decide how to interpret them and I think its silly to be like "this isnt CANON" - since we actually dont HAVE a strict "canon" for many of these stories bc theyve been retold/translated in so many conflicting ways lol. I've just heard ppl complaining abt that and I dont think its worth complaining about 🤷‍♀️

ANYWAY tl;dr: hades should've been an action-heavy isometric metroidvania… it wouldve made it far easier to focus on character questlines (ie. with respawn points + a fixed map), unified the story they wanted to tell with the gameplay SO much more effectively, and allowed them to reach the full potential of both, whilst also playing up to supergiant's previous game-making strengths. but thats my 2 cents!

ok so i watched love simon for the first time last night & i was too tired to make a ‘final thoughts’ post then, so here it is now! lol

obviously this is gonna be long as hell so im putting it under a read more for ur convenience lmfao

im actually gonna start with what i didnt like bc it was just one thing.

obviously, if uve seen the movie (as many ppl hated this too), or read my liveblogging posts, u know what it is lol 

ill be honest, as a gay person, im incredibly biased towards simon. ill admit that. that being said, how his friends treated him after he got outed was fucking disgusting.

here’s the thing: the actions simon did that his friends got upset over were motivated by the threat of him being outed. now, if this movie was just some fluffy, fantastical movie, the threat would just be ppl knowing he’s gay and that’s it. no repercussions, just ppl gaining the knowledge that he’s not straight. not that big a deal.

however, since this movie tries its best to be accurate and realistic to things, it’s not that simple in the movie, and it’s not the simple in real life.

the risk of being outed is not just ‘ppl knowing ur gay’ and that’s it.

the risk of being outed involves the risk of getting bullied (which does happen in the movie, twice. once to ethan on screen, once to simon after he comes out.), getting abandoned by ur friends (which also does happen in the movie), getting expelled from school or fired from ur job if either of them find out & are lgbtphobic, getting kicked out of ur house if ur parents/whoever u live w find out & theyre lgbtphobic, and, at worst, it can come with the risk of getting beaten or even killed.

and no, this isnt me blowing this up to be more serious than it should be. bc unfortunately, in the world we live in, these things can happen as a result of someone being lgbt, whether they came out themselves or were outed by someone else. 

the worst thing simon did was hurt his friends’ feelings a bit. 

he didnt notice leah’s feelings for him (which. why would he? he’s not interested in her, or any girl for that matter, so obviously he’s not looking for the signs of interest. why would he notice that, and why was it his responsibility to know anyway??). he tried to set nick up with her because he genuinely thought she had feelings for nick, and that’s the main reason why he didn’t realize that she liked him.

yes, part of the motive was trying to get nick out the way so he could set abby up with martin, but ffs. let me reiterate that his life, and potential future, were on the line. having the possibility of all the aforementioned things potentially happening to him should make his actions at least understandable.

like falling for someone that doesnt like u back bc theyre not attracted to ur gender (which like.. hello. gay ppl fucking experience that shit all the time too & we have to learn to deal w it.), or being put in a game of matchmaker bc ur friend was trying to save their own fucking life is rly not that big a deal compared to said friend’s situation of trying to save their own fucking life. 

one situation hurts, but can eventually be healed from (which clearly they do in the movie since abby and nick got together anyway in spite of simon’s actions, and leah’s fine). the other situation has the chance of resulting in a fucking future/life being ruined or taken. i think that one is much more fucking important.

all in all, i just wish they wouldve fucking apologized. bc they screamed at him after he got outed. 

abby saw how fucking terrified he was when he came out to her, but she’s not gonna have a single ounce of sympathy when he was outed to the entire school against his will?? like what the fuck! 

also wish they wouldve stood up for him when he got bullied. they just sat there with guilty expressions, but none of them did anything. it was really rough to watch.

as much as all this seriously pissed me off, though, especially as a person who has been outed against my will so all of simon’s heartache as a result rly resonated with me.. 

i appreciate that they put that shit in. 

bc u know what unfortunately that is how cishet ppl react sometimes. guilting u for being lgbt, guilting u for not coming out to them despite knowing how scary it can be, etc etc etc. 

and getting apologizes from cishet ppl for that kinda shit is rare. so, as much as i was annoyed that they didnt apologize, that is unfortunately realistic. as much as i wish they wouldve stood up for him, that was also unfortunately realistic. so im still glad it’s in there even if it did piss me off. 

simon’s speech to martin was nice at least, and i hope that it taught some cishet ppl that have outed ppl, or threatened to out ppl, or wanted to out ppl, why u just dont fucking do that shit.

simon’s journey to being able to proudly proclaim that he’s gay.

the speech he has near the end is so fucking powerful bc we see him struggle throughout the movie to say it. 

first he cant say it at all, then he can only say it quietly, but by the end of the movie, he’s proclaiming to the entire school, loud and proud, that yes. he is gay. and he’s not going to feel wrong for that anymore. 

i feel like that entire journey is one that can really resonate with a lot of ppl, including myself. so im so fucking happy that this movie included that progression, and ended it with him having such an exuberant amount of confidence. it was honestly really beautiful, and im glad i got to witness it.

like i seriously appreciate how real this movie is. and it doesnt have lines like this, or plots like the blackmailing/outing just for drama. 

it’s to show that this is how being lgbt can be sometimes, this shit rly happens. and i just rly appreciated seeing all that in a way that didnt even try to pull any punches. it was so clear they seriously cared abt making this an accurate movie, and that meant a lot

GETTING TO SEE TWO BOYS KISSING ON SCREEN MULTIPLE TIMES, AND NOT JUST THAT, BUT GETTING TO SEE THEM GET A HAPPY ENDING!!!!! 

i seriously cried for like 20 minutes starting from when bram showed up at the ferris wheel to well after the credits had ended. 

i cannot even begin to express how fucking incredible it was to get to see two boys kissing, getting cheered on, and getting to be happy.

especially in the scene where simon picks up everyone, and leah moves so bram can get in the front seat and he kisses simon when he gets in. IT WAS SO SWEET.. AND BEAUTIFUL I LOVED/APPRECIATED IT SO MUCH IT MEANT SOOOO FUCKING MUCH TO ME GOSH

my thoughts of the movie can be boiled down to this: im so fucking happy this movie exists. 

im so fucking happy that a movie abt a gay kid learning to be confident in his sexuality, falling in love and getting to have a happy ending with his boyfriend exists.

ive never cried more at a movie than i did at this movie, and ive especially never cried harder out of sheer happiness for a movie. 

knowing that this movie was in theaters, and that gay kids/teens have a movie that lets them know early on that not only is gonna be ok, but they do have a chance at a happy ending, and they deserve it, was so goddamn amazing.

this movie is so, so important. and im so happy that it, and the book its based off of, exist. 

and it’s a prime example of why representation matters so much. it was so fucking amazing to see myself, as a gay person, represented so well, so thoughtfully, so respectfully. 

i just... i love this movie so much. and im so glad it exists. and im so happy i finally got to see it.

i hope it inspires more movies/stories like it to be made. 

i hope that it results in lgbt stories being happy, uplifting stories. 

i hope that it results in lgbt characters getting to be the main characters. 

i hope it results in coming out stories being about the lgbt characters, and not how them coming out affects the cishet characters around them. 

and i hope it results in less tragic endings for lgbt characters, and more happy endings for lgbt characters.

for a long time, a future where we get the stories just mentioned has seemed bleak. but this movie changed that. and im excited for the road i hope it’s started us on.

Episode 6 - "Thank all gods, even the weird ones." - Stephen

Thank all gods, even the weird ones. I was not ready to go home pre-jury again. Although I’m still wondering if theres a hidden redemption island twist because most merges happen at 11 not 10. I also need to be careful of Clash. I trust him now, but he’s a strong player. I need to be able to have my own game apart from his, and be ready to vote his ass out when he starts getting too close to ftc.

Um so I have to vote one of my 3 closest allies which sucks but if I vote Allan that’s the best it won’t upset pat or randy and keep Stephen with me as well I hope I win this game I will IA 

Liana won immunity which sucks because she was the easy vote and puts me in a terrible position. So far Ginger and Emily/Vilma are possible votes

Everyone's so cautious about saying names this tribal council, I definitely needed that immunity. If I don't hear anything from Liana/Ginger/Emily, I'm going to put Ginger's name out there and see where it gets me

i’m like pretty okay with going to tribal tbh because i trust the four in my alliance with me? like the only one i’m a bit weary about is ginger just bc she’s like a lil weird in general lol and she could turn on a dime :/ but i do think that if she did choose to turn on me, vilma, and michael, she wouldn’t choose me to vote out this round. she’d probably go for michael? but that’s only IF she chooses to flip. idk if she will. i have high hopes that this round will be pretty smooth. if i had it my way, we could vote tyler out now because i think he’s not as invested in this game as jacob. and it’s hard to play with people who are invested. if tyler or jacob don’t go this round, at least from our tribe, i’ll be very confused? also looking forward to merge! i’m worried but at the same time i’m content. like it’ll be a small merge which i love and i have pretty good relationships with a lot of the people left. so! that’s cute! i think i’m in a good position right now. well liked, in a somewhat powerful position, and under the radar for the most part. i haven’t really done much (or gone to many tribals for that matter) that have made me feel like a threat. yes, i was a leader on the saolatoga tribe and i was the one that brought up daniel’s name at first, but it was like an easily agreed upon decision. i don’t think people were too shaken or surprised by it. it’s something on my resume for me to see, not everyone else. and that’s exactly how i like it! i’ll read my list of doings at final tribal council. and i’ll wow the jury. but it won’t be obvious to them what i’m doing until they look at the game more objectively. i think that’s a good way to play. always on people’s minds, but not too much. positive opinion, involved in big decisions, but never the ring leader to the point where it’s dangerous. i think i’ve figured out a good balance! i’m hoping this takes me far. to the end!!!

so there's a lot of stuff going on so im going to try to organize my thoughts. here we go. liana is immune, so that's hard on the rest of the tribe who... pretty much all wanted to vote her out but that's fine. honestly liana being immune is better for me than it is anyone else, so I am fine with it. it is making waves though, but they're fun waves. so the alliance of ginger, michael, vilma, and myself mentioned either tyler or jacob because they're the only options not in our alliance right now, but the thing is, ginger went CRAZY and was pushing for us to NOT VOTE TYLER WHATSOEVER! and they just kept pushing for jacob instead. I was very weary about this, but I didn't say anything at first until michael messages me saying that tyler is gunning for ME. and then vilma messages me saying that Michael told her this too, only he said that the reason tyler was gunning for me was because she and I were so close. SO! this means that tyler is aware of vilma and I being in an alliance. and ginger was probably the one to mention it to him. and then GINGER MADE A GROUP WITH VILMA AND TYLER SO THAT VILMA WOULD WANT TO PROTECT TYLER MORE. anyway, once this got out, michael and vilma and I made a group to talk about the vote and I think we're leaning towards ginger for the following reasons 1. way too protective over tyler for no reason. how the fuck are they so close? 2. tyler somehow knows about vilma and i's connection even though we've been extremely low key and I have never talked game with him 3. ginger is just actually crazy I think we can get liana and jacob on our side way easier than we could tyler. we're planning on telling liana and jacob about the vote, but leaving tyler and ginger in the dark. we just need to make sure none of this gets back to ginger like for real! they leak literally everything. I literally JUST messaged them saying that Tyler had thrown out my name and not even two minutes after I get a message from vilma saying that ginger had asked her about tyler throwing out my name. like ginger gets information and RUNS WITH IT. I truly cannot trust them. and it would create less waves to vote ginger out than it would anyone else on the tribe I think. like... after all the craziness that's going down, we need to send ginger home. I could kind of tell that ginger was a little weird, but I didn't expected them to be so cracked like genuinely cracked. lmao

Annoying Lyana HAD to win immunity, getting your lazy-social ass in multiple ORGs make u slay the physical game...and now I feel my ass is in danger! Im gonna do everything in order to stay here and Im already making plans. Not resting for a sec.

Sluggy voted out... saw that comming, him cheering on Stephen may have screwed us a bit At least its not Merge Double Tribal is gonna suck though. FreeRice is a great challenge, while im not 100% comfortable in my position atm but I am going to throw this challenge a little to reduce my threat a bit. Oh yay... the only one we didnt want to win immunity, and they win immunity, this is gonna make tribal fucked. I dont know what we are gonna do atm but i will to figure something out.

This round ended up being quite an emotional rollercoaster for me, here's a recap of some of my thoughts: 4:16 AM So ngl I would've wanted to go for Liana had she not won immunity She seems very sweet but I have chatted with her the least out of everyone She might've felt she was in danger Now I'm a bit lost and hope at least someone would tip me off if my name's thrown around 5:14 AM There's no way Ginger is voting Tyler out 8:26 AM Hmmm Jacob wanting to vote for Ginger I think Tyler I bet doesn't want that I'm trying to imagine whether I'd be willing to sacrifice Ginger or not if it came down to it I'd rather not I think Because he's been very open with me about his relationships and stuff So I feel I have a good read on him atm He still hasn't revealed he knows Clash though And I know he is capable of being messy Very good socially So I'm definitely scared of him But he is one of my closest bonds here atm so losing that would suck Of course if it comes down to me or him I have to go for it This really sucks because I like everyone on this tribe Jacob said he's closest to Emily and Tyler Tyler saying he wants to work with me and Ginger These relationships are so complex it's gonna be hard to find a common target And I don't even know what's my own preference I change it every three seconds 2:05 PM I tipped Michael off that Tyler and Ginger have become pretty close And he made a point that betraying that trust could cause us problems at merge Which I agree with So that leaves us Jacob I like Jacob a lot he is super nice but I agree he would probably be the 'least problematic' boot besides Liana As long as Emily is fine with it God I really just want to make merge and jury I've never not made them so my heart would break a little if I didn't Although my heart will break a little having to cast a vote for someone on this tribe tonight Everyone's so nice ugh 3:33 PM Um Okay so Michael told me Tyler is gunning for Em??? Apprently because her and I are close Soooo he wants to take a stab at me too? Not stunned by that That's not the best thing to hear right after establishing an alliance with someone Kinda feeling uneasy about Tyler and Ginger now People I am not voting for 100%: - Emily - Michael - Liana (she's immune lol) I feel Emily and Michael are being 100% with me So that makes me feel good about them 4:50 PM So looks like it'll be Ginger going That kinda sucks and kinda doesn't (mostly does) I'm partially okay with it because I've honestly been spooked by him since the very first day, he is very strong socially and he likes to be controversial sometimes which I like to stay away from as much as possible BUT That guy trusts me And he is genuinely very nice I like talking to him I'm gonna feel super super super dirty voting him out My heart will be filled with sorrow and I'm kinda scared of his anger afterwards He has been super honest with me so far But others are being put off by his aggressive playstyle Ughh it breaks my heart to lie to Ginger But I’m not gonna go out of my way to save him here I just don’t think that would be smart plus the numbers just wouldn’t be there Plus I feel more secure moving forward with Emily and Michael 0:04 AM I feel really really bad about this, haven't really been able to eat all day I understand why I took a six month break from orgs My mind is just not built for these I feel too bad about betraying people Plus I just think this move isn't quite ideal for me I'm betraying someone who trusts me so much and leaving out Tyler who also wanted to work with me, at least if I was alongside Ginger But I really just feel more comfortable staying with Emily and Michael I'm so sorry I'm a pussy and don't want to go out of my way to save an ally It's on me 0:57 AM I might have just messed up because I just talked to Liana assuming she had already heard about the plan but turns out NO ONE had talked to her about it yet... Two hours before tribal???? God if she lets Tyler or Ginger know I am going to be in massive trouble Also I don't think I can attend the tribal live I feel sick and disgusted at myself because of this vote, it's too much I hate myself Ginger I'm so sorry you were nothing but a good friend to me and I'm doing you so dirty I feel absolutely horrible having to lie to your face

I won immunity! yay! this is good on two ends: I cant get blindsided and; I can maintain a fiction with my Ala Mai boys that I would have been next to go most likely if I need to. Right now the target is Allen, because if we vote Randy out Pat will be miffed. My only issue with that is it gives Pat a lot of power, especially if its not an American who gets voted out from the other tribe. 

So that immunity didn’t go well. The one person we couldn’t have winning the challenge, won the challenge. Now the 4 are going to have to cannibalise ourselves and I definitely fear that eyes are on myself and Clash. Our only hope is to try and get Stephen on our side but I’m really not sure if we’ll be able to do that

RTP and I have already determined that we’re good with each other. I am SO excited to finally be back here in the Survivor Athena series. It’s been over 2 years since my last game here and the vibes so far are so good. I’m hitting things off great either Anna so far and having Jake, Colin, and Mo who I just recently played with in Big Brother: Furby with me again is yet another advantage that I hope we can work through once merge comes (Not going to get too ahead of myself though). Being on the same tribe as Rhone is rough considering the last game we played wasn’t exactly... great? Well, I think I'm getting along fairly well with the tribe thus far, at least I don't think I've done anything wrong. I've made jokes about making a 4-man alliance with the voice-chat group which may end up happening, ideally if I can find myself in the majority or just not in the minority would be ideal. I'm guessing this won't be like my first season where I win the first 5 challenges and don't go to tribal. But I could be wrong, that's a previous game luck that I'd like to repeat.

we love a 4 hour call on night one accompanied by a majority alliance. I'm already werkin that social game. So yeah um the game just started tonight and things are going perfectly?? I get along fantastically with my tribe, we're probably super strong challenge wise, AND (it bears repeating) I'm in a majority alliance night 1 bitch!! And going back to challenges, it's a MUSIC VIDEO. I love music videos so much. It's gonna be so much fun. I ain't gonna be first boot! I love being extra so here's my overall first impression of my tribe mates Amanda - if I had to choose right now, she'd be my f2.  I'm so excited to work with her Bodhi - He is... a character. I think I might have trouble personally connecting with him but I need more time to feel him out Dani - QUEEN. I don't know her but she seems so fun, and she seems like she's gonna be insanely useful in the music video challenge bc she's an editing queen Kori - He is absolutely nothing like I expected. He's very strong socially and strategically, and I'm actually insanely excited I get to work with him in our alliance. He just seems super fun and interesting, prob one of my faves Nicholas - King. Legend. Definitely going to be a threat later on. Honestly could have been part of the alliance if he had been on call lmao Timmy - This is my 5TH game with this man. Everytime we play together our dynamic is different. But now we have are already officially working together this early, which has never happened before. Really happy I was on the call last night because that ended in an alliance. It was funny how while on call Kori was making his document about everyone and actively saying his opinions on people while we can all hear him. If it's ever useful I'm going to throw that out there (not the doc, just what he said). But also I feel he is going to forget that he gave us the link and he is going to add other alliances he is in throughout the game to his other facts section, and I now have that link saved on chrome so I will be checking back at it periodically. But Amanda and I were messaging each other during the call kind of in shock that he was saying all that and we were wondering if he would give us all that information, AND THEN HE DID. It wasn't even that difficult to get. Kori is really nice and for now it is smart to work with him but I feel that down the line he is going to become a liability. Really hoping we win this first challenge so we don't have to go to tribal but if we somehow lose then I'm going to push for Bodhi to go because he is too cocky and I don't like him.

Hello, the robbed king of navarino is back and ready to snatch the win this time! So where do we begin? I’m on this tribe who’s name I don’t remember because I never remember tribe names, oops. Most of these people are familiar faces to me but not many are that close with me, so I’ll do a quick tribe assessment. Anna - This is my first time meeting her. We’re only talking about Netflix shows right now to hit it off. I didnt follow her season too closely but I think she’s the girl who went to every tribal and lost at FTC, and some people were mad at her?? She said in her intro she’s ready to be the villain again so hmmm, first off there can only be one villain, me. Second off, makes me know to be a little bit weary of you. Andrew - I am SO happy he’s cast. Definitely the closest person to me on this tribe, and hopefully he feels the same way lolol. I want to work very closely with Andrew and hopefully we make it deep. Kevin - We player enchanted together and were on good terms but he went out on a tribe swap. Don’t have much of an opinion game wise. Nathan - Just player furby with him, just gave him third in that, oops. We had a rocky time together in that game and he gave me red flags all the time there because I felt like he was doing a lot of stuff behind my back (which he was) but I just want us to be on good terms here to start. Nicole - Nicole is a really nice person, we aren’t super close though and haven’t been that close in games before. I also know she’s a good player, so I am gonna keep an eye on here. Rhône - Oh Rhône, player my first ORG ever with him. We were the first tribe to go to tribal, he was targeting me, i got people to flip onto my side and we voted him out and then he called me a dick and deleted me. 6 months later... we’ve added each other back LOL. But he extended an olive branch and I never held a grudge against him anyways so ofc I’ll move past it so he doesn’t have a target on me. But we’ll see how things go down later on!

Okay so, um the Athena Goddesses must love me. I went to go to do my first idol search with a random guess. And with a literal 1% of finding the idol... I FOUND LUKE’S IDOL. Literally EVERYONE in my host chat including myself was S H O O K. I’ve never found an idol in an ORG before, so to get this lucky day one. Yeah... these auras are looking nice. Well after a full day has gone by it seems I'm in a majority alliance, which in theory is good for me. Though I've also been working on Dani and she says she was approached for a majority alliance, that COULD be the alliance I'm already in and put in the effort of having formed, but it could also be another alliance in the works that I'm not part of, so I'm gonna have to keep my eyes peeled. (It's possibly that the alliance I'm currently part of is not even like a real alliance, in that I could be the only one who's considering it seriously.) Meanwhile Bodhi as much as I like the guy, I feel like he was being a bit too stubborn about the song selection, that could have rubbed people the wrong way, and I think he'd be safe person to recommend for elimination, but with this other alliance potentially floating around, I dunno could be dangerous.

ok I have NO fucking idea if we're doing the intro to this song or not. We picked the best song on the list (not for the comp, but just best in general), but of course we're doing a BULLSHIT COVER OF IT. It's from a movie I think? I've never actually heard of the movie but Colin and Amanda seem to actually care about it so maybe it's a thing? No one should ever have to do this. I can't help but thinking: what if some day I want to get a job?? UGHHH SERIOUSLY? Literally every time I play a Survivor ORG I go to tribal first. I AM SICK OF IT. But I haven't been the first boot yet... So let's hope it continues? It's really annoying being on a small tribe because no one is really "inactive" so there doesn't seem to be much of an easy way out. I guess Kevin could be an easy name to say because he didn't participate, but I still talk to him and he probably has connections on the tribe. I don't want to get into hot waters by saying any names RN... So my goal is to talk to everyone, see if names comes to me, and keep close with Andrew because I'd hope he would tell me if I'm in danger. Not exactly how I expected my first week back in the Athena series to go... but I can’t say I’m surprised either. Going into tribal, I feel like I’ve made the most connections I possibly could have and I’ve got Anna and Jake for sure on my side. It’s deciding WHO I want out that’s the problem. I could get out Rhône who is a clear threat to my game later on, or Kevin who didn’t participate at all. It’s all about balancing out when to make personal game moves and game moves to help the tribe... and I’ve only got one shot at redemption. So it may be time to go for the jugular and ensure my safety later on by campaigning against Rhône.

The Quality of Talio’s fucking video gave me explosive diarrhea. Who edited(?) using a potato? It’s wild Maury. If our tribe ever loses Emily WILL be bullied out of this community. Anyways I’m in an alliance with Julia, Blake, and Ryan called “Bullies R Us” in honor of the late Toys R Us company and we’re all bullies so the name stuck.

I feel calm now, I can breathe. It's a good day. It's such a great feeling to have immunity and know I won't be first boot. I'm really proud of the tribe because we were able to get it done. I am so thankful for Dani being able to edit that video because that must have taken a lot of time and energy, and also really happy that we were the only tribe to have all of our members participate. Good luck to the person on Talio who didn't...although I don't know why they didn't so they could be fine. Also really happy I don't have to deal with tribal tomorrow because I'll be at a party so I wouldn't be able to talk to as many people. Like yea I have an alliance and I trust them, but I would have liked the ability to make my plan happen if we were going to tribal. But we're not so I'm happy.

Well, we won our first challenge, which is great, my idol search has been uneventful, and Dani wants to form an alliance of me her and Nicholas, which is good because she wants to work with me, but could backfire with me already in an alliance with Amanda, Colin, and Timmy. In a perfect scenario we won't ever go to tribal more than once so I don't have to worry about betraying anybody. I'm also trying to maintain a relationship with Bodhi to keep that avenue open as well, I'm in a weird middle position, and I think my decisions going forward are gonna keep ramping up in importance.

ok so we had our first challenge which was the music video and i was like...fuck yeah ive never lost this....then i looked at my tribe...honestly most of them look dead and im not sure they have pulses or have ever felt emotion past "eh." so i was little worried but i think with my editing skills and mo's fantastic performance we fucking rocked it. (even tho emilys mom yelled at me) a few days ago both isaac and julia messaged me saying that blake wanted an alliance with us four....and i couldnt love that idea more...im not sure how i feel about mo and john...and ryan is an old friend of mine who i think i can at least trust even tho he has shown up like twice since the game started. rn my first choice to go would be mo...ryan and john seem a little more inactive and i think will just stick with our group if we swap or something...mo is more active and actually has a mind of his own...and unless that mind is aligned with mine its gotta go! also queen simone!

Hello I AM SO UPSET. Kevin should by all standards be the one going home there’s been no social connection with him, he’s busy and didn’t even attempt. But here we are AGAIN as in every org I’ve ever played with rhone, people want Rhône gone first and it f*cking sucks. Every single time. Why? Like it makes me livid, at this point I rather flop to see Rhône thrive because they deserve it. In an early TS season work ethic represented outcome a lot more than now, now it’s all who messaged you hello first. Get me AWAY from these cows I am so angry. Like beyond angry, LIVID. Rhône is one of the best people I know and it just makes me upset when people think less of them because they don’t do the whole social butterfly fake ass bullshit we are all so accustomed to. Anyway so that’s my thoughts, these bitches better vote out Kevin because if Rhône goes I’m gonna fight to the death to make sure each of their asses are gone. (Unless I get voted out, even better.)

Okay so we lose the first challenge, great. My goal is to make sure I’m not a target so I talk to everyone. I feel the most secure with Andrew, and he mentions wanting to work with Kevin and I’m fine with that. Problem is, Nicole and Rhône both mention him as a vote to me. But Kevin tells me today that he is interested in going for Rhône. And everyone who I’ve talked to today says they’ve heard it’s between Kevin and Rhône... so hopefully that is the case? Problem is, Kevin is an easy vote but the people I trust don’t want him to go. So that leaves Rhône, but I also feel kind of guilty if I push for him to go since we targeted each other the first round of Crossroads, but as of now it seems like he wants to work with me? If I based it off of who I feel the least connected to on our tribe, it would be easiest for me to vote out Nicole right now. But... she took the time to edit our video so that’s kinda rude. UGH I hate 7 person tribes so much.

So much drama has happened lol so the vote was between Kevin and Rhône because Kevin didn’t participate and Rhône was inactive. So Rhône comes on today and messages me saying “what are you thinking about the vote?” And I said “I’ve heard Kevin” and he said “oh I’ve heard my name” then he adds me and Nicole to a group chat to try and save himself and I’m lowkey interested. Then Andrew messaged me saying rhone told him that I was the one who spilled the beans to him about him being on the chopping block... so then I confront Rhône and he legit just gives up and asks us all to vote him. Easy first tribal np!!! Also Nicole is worried about Andrew and Kevin being friends and thinks me and her will be on the bottom if we lose again but like.. I have relationships with Jake and Nathan.. and Andrew AND kevin. So no, I’m not gonna be the target, she might but I won’t.

John and RTP wanted to align with me as soon as we hit the beach running. Julia and Blake also reached out to talk... so they're clearly social. Too bad I don't like Blake. I didn't do the first challenge because I don't like music videos and June 29th was an important date for me. I feel bad but ya kno oops

Hi! My phone is on 4% so this may be short. I have barely been around to talk to my tribe members but I made sure to do my part in the challenge cause I love music videos! So here's a little synopsis of my tribe. Ryan M - one of my good friends in this community. We just got out of a game together a few months ago and we are both very stubborn players. I'm not sure how I feel to see him as much as I love him Blake - I talk to him probably the most! He's really cool so far RTP - only ever heard of this guy but he's an icon. Great guy so far but I'd say he's my biggest threat moving forward Julia - love her!! She's so easy to talk to Mo - I like talking to him though we don't get to much. we have bonded over our gayness LOL Isaac - he has hosted me and I looove him but we haven't talked very much in this game so far?? Also jake price lives literally 15 minutes away from me. He was in crossroads with Ryan and I and he knows exactly how close I am with Ryan, while ryan knows the same about myself and Jake. This could come to bite me down the road for sure so I sorta hope those two are not in the game together for very long with me unless they will get the fuck along. They stress me out LOL
