I hope it wasn't too bad... #We had something similar last year #We live in a kind of a distant village #And our streets are connected to one heating system #And it was so cold last year that this station just broke #Me and my sister have been without water electricity and heat first day *giggle* It was funny to wear 2 complects of cloths and jacket #It was... like... -14 inside of home? *giggle* #On the second day we at least got electricity back and got a little heater (We were separated from parents so the have been calling 3 #times per day XDD) We closed all doors to not let the heat outside #Since we got sick and couldn't take a shower #We were able to go to school but we looked like shit XDD #Then we were lying next 2 days like potatoes in one room with a heater... it felt awful XDD #They couldn't fix the main heating system for almost 3 days #It was... funny.... never want to experience the same again and hope you will not too

I hate to do this again, but I'm out of options. I have to pay my $350 power bill by 5pm CST tomorrow (December 7th, 2023) or I'll be disconnected, and my account is currently over $500 in the red from December's rent. I still haven't been able to find a new job and things are getting really desperate

#i'm really embarrassed to be asking again already #to preemptively answer some questions: the last post was about November's (overdue) rent. that was paid. the overdraft is for December #and no i don't know why this one overdrafted my account but the last one bounced #and yes $350 is an unusually large power bill. there was an issue with my water heater that my landlord took his sweet time to come fix #ugh i really do hate doing this again so soon i'm sorry #it's almost making me regret giving so much to mutual aid when i had a well-paying job instead of saving #keyword almost - i'm still glad i did - but damn this situation sucks

nobody's seeing the other post & we're in a bad situation right now 8') the good news is nothing burst yet but the pipes r completely frozen over and we haven't had running water going on 3 days now. we cant even afford to feed a family of 6 so getting a bunch of water until the weather stops being below freezing is a huge problem right now.

Question: how does one safely use boiling water to wash their hair?

I have no hot water at the moment and aside from dunking my head in ice and hoping for the best, I don’t really have a good way to properly wash my extremely thick hair.

I was thinking about this a lot the other day. I refer to my mom’s current boyfriend who she lives with and who has been part of my family for years now and who is just super sweet and caring, as my stepdad /positive

But I also refer to the guy we lived with when I was 12-13 who abused me and who assaulted my mom and who I hid from in the basement as my stepdad /negative

I associated the word Father with such negativity and anger and pain for so long.

It. took awhile for someone to earn the title of Dad from me in a positive light.
