it’s Photography Day!! what’s your favorite picture that you’ve ever taken??

This was one of the first photos I took after I was gifted my first DSLR (a Canon Rebel in 2006, I think?) where I actually had all the settings figured out. I spent so many hours wandering our yard that summer, learning how the camera worked!

It’s funny, if I took this photo again today, I wouldn’t be quite so close and I’d make sure to space the top better. But I’m proud of this one. I still use this photo as my computer background in the spring.

The sentimental answer is this photo of my grandparents from our trip to Italy in 2012. My grandfather died in 2018 and my Nonna has dementia, but she always remembers the best stories when we talk about this trip. I’m so grateful that I got to travel with them to a place they spent so many years together.

I love walking around the university campus after all the students are gone for the summer. It’s so peaceful.

Also, the Mueller clock tower, seen here through the sculpture, occasionally plays Hedwig’s Theme from the Harry Potter soundtrack.
