About:

Cinematic frames made with photos, textures and paint over to create compositions and storytelling. I’m doing it to give life to my imagination about the world of HP. 

In this scene, we see that Death Eaters captured the Aurors Alice and Frank. The story of this moment gives me chills to think about. I couldn’t do it other way. 

In my headcanons, Bellatrix got tired but refused to give up, just like Alice and Frank. Her make up is blurred and she’s passed of having “fun”. She’s furious, because Alice is still refusing to give any information. This took several days.

Unfortunately, Frank and Alice never were the same. And Bellatrix Lestrange spent years in Azkaban.

Exploring cinematic concepts for my potterbyblvnk sketches. With the help of you guys, I decided to call this series “potterframes”.

I want to show you in details, colors and atmosphere, how I imagine the story of Harry Potter beyond my sketches. My goal is to create believable “movie” scene. I know we already have the movies, but there’s a lot we can explore, especially after growing up.

I might have a lot of fun designing the dark side of the story this time, with a bit of light for a contrast, of course.

Photobash process of Bellatrix. (You guys asked me to show the process, but I don’t record since it takes me so much time only finding textures and photos, which is pretty boring to watch hahaha). This is a gif showing the layers of the image.

1. Finding the “Muse photo”. It’s about that one photo that inspires me for the image. Sometimes I have luck to find the perfect one that clicks and tells me “wow that could become Bellatrix”, which happened in this case. I find the photos of #potterframe on websites such as Unsplash and Pexels, so I can freely use and modify them. I think it’s funny because some of the pictures the models are doing something completely random that, if I use a bit of imagination, I can visualize a complete different story - which is part of the fun of doing these.

2. I paint over the model so she looks like how imagine Bellatrix. I make sure they are designed according to what I imagine, and it requires knowledge of values so the brush strokes are not visible - that’s how I try to keep the realism of the photobash alive.

3. I use references for make-up as well, in this one Amy Lee (Evanescence) in Going Under was the one I chose.

4. The background is a collage of photos of mansions and churches (because of the aristocratic, gothic design where I imagine the scene happening). I blurred them to give the effect of cameras depth of field, which is what gives the aspect of a movie frame.

5. The aspect ratio and letterbox (the black rectangles) is what also give the frame a movie vibe, and the final touches are the atmosphere. I play with levels, curves and all good stuff from Photoshop to try to find the right mood for the scene.

Are you going to be doing more potter-frames? pls say yes. i'm not a fan of the movies and your pictures somehow exactly capture how i picture the characters. i honestly think you're the most talented fanartist i've ever come across. love you lots.

I think maybe a year ago you posted some really cool ones that looked like film stills, with photo bashing that you drew over I think. they were so beautiful and so cool, and I love to look at them but now I can't find them! did you take them down?
