what I was talking abt earlier. we have fully looped back around and away from feminism, societally, whereas before it was very Feminism 101 to acknowledge that many parts of existing as a woman in a misogynistic society are painful and upsetting.
not that being a woman is Inherently Negative in a bubble. but that living on this earth, in the conditions we're living in, is hostile to women.
and that gender is a performance. that many of the Staples Of Femininity as accepted by society are things that you have to create and perform and mold artificially and aren't inherent, that COMPLAINING about day to day difficulties of existing as a woman is something that you're allowed to do.
acknowledging these basic, again, feminism 101 things, that something tied to womanhood is more time consuming or more expensive or more dangerous Because Of The Problems. does not CREATE the problems. that when women complain about having to perform femininity, they are not, in fact, oppressing themselves. the call does not come from inside the fucking house.
saying that you HAVE suffered does not fucking equate that you believe you SHOULD have suffered.
like I could talk about this for hours. how braindead and one-dimensional the Takes are getting. "being a woman is looking in the mirror and going fuck yeah i'm a woman" damn. I guess any negative experiences you have by living in a misogynistic world... are your fault if you are anything but positive?
"you don't actually want liberation" we've fully gone back to telling feminists "you WANT to be oppressed" when anything negative about our society is pointed out. it's not real until I say it out loud, I guess, and then I'm actually the one who caused it.
if anybody expresses any unhappiness with how they're treated or the status quo or the language and culture surrounding womanhood and femininity. they've created it, right that second. they invented it just now. it wasn't a problem before somebody complained, right?
also trans women aren't braindead zombies who just follow the flow of whatever cis women around them say. I am pretty fucking sure they are very much aware of pain, and are MORE than aware of the swirling torrent of misogyny and standards of femininity than anybody else. actually. and I am pretty sure someone complaining on tumblr that being a woman means always putting on a performance is going to make someone change their mind about transitioning. also "performing femininity" as a necessity to being treated well as a woman is not fucking NEWS to your Local Trans Woman. I AM PRETTY SURE SHE GETS THE CONCEPT. using trans women as a scapegoat for this braindead perspective on gender politics is spineless, meritless, and pathetic.

“I hate people who mindlessly praise RWBY and deny any of its awful writing choices”
I have no idea what circles you’re in that have people like this. I won’t deny they exist bc I’m certain they do, but I’ve seen so many ppl who love RWBY with all their hearts talk about multiple things across the volumes they didn’t like or wish had happens differently or where a scene was weak or where the pacing was off. Especially after people politely explained issues they had with V9 while still throughly enjoying the volume as a whole.
Again I’m not denying the existence of mindless praise but I have to ask WHO you’re coming across who In Earnest and not as a joke say the show is 100% Perfect For Real. Bc in the 10 years I’ve been watching the show I have not seen those people. Which maybe means I’m lucky?
But I feel like RWBY specially gets so much hate and shade and ppl talk about “bad writing” every other episode for the past six volumes like. Bruh if it’s THAT bad HOW are you still watching? There’s thinking it’s bad and hoping it’ll get better and then there’s hate watching and being confused why people seem to love a thing you hate and that doesn’t sound fun At All

i hate when people who dont have marfans make/headcanon characters with marfans as some quirky trait. i really do, i've seen it a lot in my life as someone who was diagnosed at 3 with the condition and it honestly grinds my gears
they always do the most stereotype-y traits, or ignore how much of a struggle it is to live with marfans, or how marfans can fuck up your body further by just how much shit it causes.
to put it into perspective, i got tagged like a fucking animal at school because they didnt want to take too much care into explaining that i needed extra care if something happened, or that people should be gentle with me because i could die on school grounds.
ive sat cooped up in my home most of my life, i've only been on a fair ride once because getting on a roller coaster could harm me as well. i need help walking or getting around because my body cant always handle it, i have other problems due to marfans that have hurt me greatly for my entire life.
i'm slowly going blind from marfans and theres nothing a doctor can do that will stick. i risk aortic dissection simply by being hit in the chest, i used to be afraid of going to bed because if anything hit my chest too hard i could literally fucking die then and there, because my heart would fucking collapse on itself and theres a decent chance that i wouldnt make it to the emergency room.
it's not just some trait, it is a disability.
and it's not quirky!! it was never fucking quirky!!! getting discriminated against for being disabled by the age of 4 wasnt fun! it wasnt silly! it was traumatizing!!!!
if you're going to make a character or headcanon a character with marfans take into account how much of a stereotype you're making them. there are short people with marfans, fat people with marfans (like myself), poc with marfans, there are people who cannot walk or function because of marfans, people with marfans arent scary or shy or weak all the time. we're human people! we vary!
talk to actual people with marfans. look up posts about the condition from people with the condition. dont confuse marfans with EDS. just have common sense!! its exhausting trying to look at content from people like me and either seeing headcanons, EDS posts, or people telling everyone with marfans that they have no hope (this ones common on reddit, but it applies).
people with marfans dont immediately die either, btw. i saw a post recently that was just "haha this character better have had amazing doctors or his marfans would kill him in 2 seconds!!!" and that's not how it works. of course it can be fatal thats with all things, but dont act like its an immediate death sentence, please. i'm sure a lot of us have heard it enough already

something that's been weighing on my mind ever since learning about the situation with ezra / toonimal is seeing how these predators will take the active hostility that is frequently directed towards minors in online spaces to their advantage and use it to prey on vulnerable children. i think that we as adults in online fandom should probably come together and maybe rethink the language / manner we go about interacting with kids bc clearly the way things are rn is causing active harm.
like obviously, if you're an adult and aren't comfortable with minors interacting with you or your content, you should be allowed to set that boundary and should be vocal about it, ( especially if the content you create isn't safe for them to consume. ) but i don't think talking to them like they're a blight on all that is good and holy is the way to go about it. maybe just saying you're an 18 plus account will suffice, you don't have to tell them to fuck off.

You know how queer ppl keep saying that the online queer community isn't representative of the offline community and that you should go to irl meet-ups? That also goes for the autism community.
Example: I've seen multiple people who are under the impression that media-type special interests are overrepresented or more accepted in the autism community. That's not true. The people who participate in the online community (esp. the fan community) on Tiktok, Tumblr, and Twitter are mostly nerdy young millenials/gen z/gen x, and not representative of the wider autistic population. Go to any autism meet-up and you'll quickly learn that a) 'what is your special interest?' is not a question ppl ask, so whether you do or don't know what someone's special interest is depends on how preoccupied they are with it, and b) most people don't have media-focused (special) interests, and if they do, it's certainly not limited to kids cartoons.
I know that not everyone can go to autism meet-ups irl, and I don't want to pretend that irl autism meet-ups are some sort of safe haven full of people with Advanced Autism Knowledge and Progressive Politics. But like. That's the point? Interact with some 80-year-old who's been diagnosed for 20 years and doesn't know the modern terms for anything and who thinks vaccines cause autism despite being autistic themself and maybe you'll calm down.

Why are you a Harley Keener Apologist? What is there to apologize for? He's done nothing.
You are SO RIGHT ANON, Harley has done nothing wrong ever, and he is the best part of the entire MCU!! An amazing boy, the best boy, he should get his own comic book series and it should be led by me!!
On a real note though, I put Harley Keener Apologist as my header because I actually stem from twitter (before the twitter-to-tumblr masses joined)! And boy oh boy, do NOT look at the Harley tag there. I have witnessed a lot of hate for Harley despite him being like the BEST ever, and also only having less than an hour total of screentime. Ofc we all know that twitter is a cesspool where anger feeds on anger. Harley hate usually just stems from him having a lot of fans and all of us saying that he deserved to be Iron Lad for a long time. But also like...I won't lie, from the shit I've seen, a lot of Harley haters have at least one good point: the worst kind of people (coughcough white boys coughcough) have a tendency to say that Harley should've been Tony's successor rather than Iron Heart. And their only logical reasoning is that "Harley was first" and "He was closer to Tony", without, ya know...outright stating the real reason why they don't like Riri.
So, a lot of Harley hate is mainly pointed towards racist white boys online who are only trying to use him as their icon to hate on Riri. It's very, very fucking unfortunate, and literally no actual Harley fan agrees with them. As far as I know, and I should know since I made a Harley Keener discord server with the best and most active Harley fans in it, barely anyone actually wants Harley to become Iron Lad in the MCU. We want him to be his own thing. We love and appreciate Riri and we can't wait to see what the MCU does for her. So like, my header mainly is against twitter people who hate on Harley for unjustified character reasons, but also...it's an unfortunate reality that Harley, as a white male character, is being used as an attack against Riri fans. This is something that I've been wanting to talk about for a while though, so I have no idea if it's even still continuing, but...yeah, I stem from twitter, and it's not great to be a Harley fan there.
But overall, Harley Keener has such amazing potential! He truly has nothing to apologize for as a character!! I have mixed feelings of him ever returning to the MCU, but if he ever does I hope that him and Riri and Peter bond as Stark successors! We love the real version of Harley Keener under this household, who is a gay southern boy who would fight for his loved ones!!
