Propriety [Iona]
With a father an ambassador and mother a politician, they told Iona she was suited for the job. She had experience on how to act around nobility, the ins and outs of etiquette and propriety, but so did most guards; how suitable she was had no bearing on if she approved.
Lady Theotae seemed to be of a similar mind. Iona’s superior, Centurion Galerna, stoically endured the receiving end of a complaint as Iona and Lia entered the Raethran estate foyer for the first time. Iona would've liked to admire the house’s adornments had her attention not narrowed in on the matriarch of the house.
“—why my regular bodyguards aren’t adequate,” Theotae was saying. She stopped, smiled with practised civility, then continued, arms folded. “I’m far more of an experienced fighter now than when I was as a child. I don’t require chaperones; I’m perfectly capable of defending myself.”
Iona pursed her lips, bowing as was customary, but stiffly. Not only was she assigned a post she had no desire for, she was assigned to someone too prideful to want her. Nobles weren’t too good for the Emerald Archers; nobody was. To call her a chaperone was insulting and they all knew it.
“My lady, this is Decurion Iona Elhaine, and Decurion Lianala Elindel,” Galerna said, sidestepping her protests. “May I present Lady Theotae Raethran, the first of her name, Lady of the Redwood, Highbearer of the Codex Genesia, and Matriarch of House Raethran. As her bodyguards, you’ll both receive the title Lady of the Redwood’s Aegis.”
Iona heard the order that sat just under the surface: be respectful. Centurion Galerna bowed, far less stiffly, then exited. Iona envied her.
Theotae surveyed them in imperious silence; her eyes wouldn’t have missed a single flake of dandruff out of order. They were roughly equal in height, with similar musculature—for all of Theotae’s pride, Iona saw a woman who could back up what she claimed. Two swords fanned out from her hips, more than ornamental. She was in charge of the Redwood—a region of the Verdant Expanse glutted with threats. She inherited the title from her mother not because she was owed it, but because she worked for it.
“Is that how you perceive other noble’s guards, my lady?” Iona asked after a moment, a little rankled, but making an effort to sound polite and persuasive. She wondered—was that how the other guards saw her now? “You have all the same freedoms and privacy as before.”
“I’m well aware of the terms, Decurion Elhaine.”
“We’re not a reflection of your perceived lack of skill,” Iona added. Lia shot her a warning look. “We’re a symbol of your importance, a show of force for when you visit dignitaries outside of Syngorn, and serve as a backup in case something goes wrong. I see no point in causing each other misery. It’s what the city expects of us, my lady.”
It was her rationale, even if her heart didn’t agree. Maybe someday she would believe it.
Theotae nocked her chin up like a readied arrow. “I had no intention of causing you misery, Decurion, unless you did?”
Iona tensed and shook her head. Arguing would’ve been a concession.
Theotae smiled again. “Very good. Come along, then, if you’re to be my shadows; it’s best you know my schedule and home inside and out. Later, I’d like to test how capable you are with swords.”
Iona and Lia shared one final, sombre look before falling into line.

Trying to do a paper doll similar to Asha’s for Hylira, but in the meantime, this is my Consular! I suspect she scares people. The scars and the ‘I’m so done with everything’ expression make it easy for people (sometimes including other Jedi) to overlook that she is a) usually dissociating to some degree and b) seventeen. Did not get treated for most of her trauma because the symptoms manifested as reduced emotional range and hyperfocus, both of which the Order considered perks.

taylor swift x characters
wonderland
catherine and jest
1989 - taylor swift
heartless - marissa meyer
Tumblr media
beautiful art by @sartagos
SERIOUS HEARTLESS SPOILERS
i was just beginning marissa meyer's beautiful prequel to alice in wonderland when i first played taylor's song for a friend. she immediately heard the parallel between the two and, when i finished it, i totally agreed.
here is my analysis of how catherine's love story in heartless links to taylor swift's wonderland.
let's start at the very beginning (a very good place to start) (i'm sorry, that was bad)
flashing lights and we
took a wrong turn and we
fell down a rabbit hole
you held on tight to me,
cos nothing's as it seems
and spinning out of control
the alice references are clear and intentional but the immediate 'spinning out of control' foreshadow's the book's inevitable chaotic ending, the scene is immediately set for Catherine and jest's tragic love story.
didn't they tell us don't rush into things?
didn't you flash your green eyes at me?
haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds?
this pre-chorus seems to mimic the gossip and constant judgement catherine and jest face from all directions.
yes i read the book right, jest does have gold eyes but i think the simple fact that eyes are mentioned makes up for the slight colour difference. jest's eye colour is a detail so often described as he flashes smirks and side eyes all over the place that it only makes the connection to this song stronger.
Tumblr media
ooh, didn't it all seem new and exciting?
i felt your arms twisting around me
i should have slept with one eye open at night
jest and catherine fling themselves head first, fearless, into their newfound love. perhaps too fearless as they forget all the dangers of the world they live in.
we found wonderland, you and i got lost in it
and we pretended it could last forever,
we found wonderland, you and i got lost in it
and life was never worse but never better
catherine’s life has gone wrong in every way possible, her dreams can never come true and she must marry a man she does not love, and yet, she is lost in a wonderland of hope. her life was truly never worse but, with jest, never better.
Tumblr media
so we went on our way,
too in love to think straight,
all alone or so it seems.
but there were strangers watching,
whispers turned to talking
and talking turned to screams.
THIS SONG COULD NOT BE MORE PERFECT AND IT HURTS. jest and catherine set off on their mission to solve all their problems but we know that that never happens. their blind hope only makes the pain of their failure hurt more.
Didn't they tell us don't rush into things?
Didn't you flash your green eyes at me?
Didn't you call my fears with a Cheshire Cat smile?
i mean, we are all aware of the deathly qualities of the smile of a certain joker...
Ooh, didn't it all seem new and exciting?
I felt your arms twisting around me
It's all fun and games 'til somebody loses their mind
FORESHADOWING. life is fun and games ‘til jest is KILLED and catherine loses her mind. someone prove to me that taylor didn’t read this book.
i reach for you but you were gone
you knew i had to go back home
you searched the world for something else
to make you feel like what we had
and in the end, in wonderland
we both went mad.
this bridge does not apply to jest and catherine but to catherine and the hatter. without jest, without their martyr, they both search the world for a reason to live and without that reason, without jest,
they both went mad.
Tumblr media
thank you so much for reading!

So IDK if this is a challenge yet or not but either way may I present the...
Townie Baby Challenge
Using a matriarch (or any sim that can get pregnant) try to have a baby with every single pre made townie in the game and raise those children to adulthood without them dying or being taken away. As more packs come out more townies and babies will be had.
Rules
Must have at least 1 baby with every pre made sim. This doesn’t count sims from the trailer on the gallery that gurus or maxis post. These sims must be already in the world and in everyone’s game.
Cheats can be used to change pregnancy ability of different sims.
Must start with average funds and build up house from there.
Cannot have a baby with the same sim twice.
Cannot marry until matriarch becomes and elder.
If child dies or is taken away, another baby with that child’s parent is needed. (If you have twins and one dies no need to do this).
Matriarch cannot get a job.
Toddlers must get all skills to level 3 to age up.
Children must get two skills to level 5 and get an A in school.
Teens must get an A in school and have two skills at level 5.
Skills should relate to parents traits. (Parents from a certain pack’s children should have skills from that pack).
Must wait until underage sims age up to young adult to have a baby with them.
If matriarch dies before finishing this then youngest daughter (or impregnable child) completes the challenge.
Townies currently to woohoo
(As more packs come out and townies added this will update)(* indicates underage)

a little collection of iona’s most used outfits from before the canon personal story until her retirement at the end of LWS4!
More info under the cut about why she wore them! Feel free to ask for armor pieces or dyes. :)
outfit one: Pre-personal story. Iona grew up in an orphanage in DR, so when she was old enough to leave she stuck with the clothes she was handed down throughout the years. Thankfully she hadn’t changed much in height or weight since her teens, so those clothes carried her through many years.
outfit two: Order of Whispers. She didn’t always wear the hood, just when the stealth was needed. She wasn’t crazy about how revealing the armor was that they gave her, so she opted for something a bit sturdier.
outfit three: Heart of Thorns. Now, technically Scarlet’s attack on LA and LWS2 happened before HoT, but because I wasn’t here for the former and barely played the latter I don’t have a canon outfit for her. I’d like to imagine during that time she wasn’t as “in charge” as the story has the PC be. She was definitely more of a follower than a leader at that point.
outfit four: LWS3. Her outfits changed a lot during this time because I got super into the game and started unlocking lots of skins and dyes, but this outfit was one I kept coming back to. They visited a lot of places in LWS3, with varying climates, so she wasn’t always in something so revealing. Once afraid of revealing outfits, Iona found a bit more confidence and enjoyed the freedom of movement this outfit gave her.
outfit five: Path of Fire. The PoF story meant a lot to me, it was the first story I did (I bought PoF before HoT / any of the LWS) and I got to experience elite specs for the first time. Iona loves the desert and ideally she’ll return to finish out her days there. She really connected with the Elonians and wore the armor they made for her for a very long time. It remains one of the only outfits she still wears today.
outfit six: LWS4. During this season, Iona really took a hit mentally, emotionally, and physically. Fighting a God she once revered hurt her. Her already bad vision also started worsening, most likely from Balthazar endlessly toying with her, so she opted for something less intricate to wear.
outfit seven: End of LWS4. After Kralk’s defeat, Iona retreated to her home and refused to let anyone in. The emotional toll of thinking Aurene was dead, losing friends in the endless battles, causing so much irreparable destruction... It all was too much for her. Iona left Thunderhead and returned to Desert Highlands to pack her belongings. She threw out all of her old, tattered armor that was stained with blood and painful memories (save for her Elonian set, of course), dug out her very first hand crafted greatsword, and returned to Kryta. She’s met with Logan, Taimi, and a few Whispers reps, but no one else has seen her since the battle. For now, she’s done being a Commander. Queen Jennah assumes she’ll return after her health is better... but Iona knows she won’t be going back.
outfit eight: Current. As of now, Iona spends a great deal of time in Orr. She’s always felt guilty over Trahearne’s passing and has never confronted it, so she’s been trying to reconnect by continuing his goal of cleansing Orr. She can hardly see anything now, but that won’t stop her from trying to bring a little peace back to the world.

Inquisitor Prompts! 15 please
Inquisitor Asks
15. Our of the followers/companions, who are they most comfortable around?
For all of them, I think that depends on what point they’re at in the journey, so I’ll go with end of the main game, pre-Trespasser.
Guinevere: It would’ve been Solas, if he hadn’t fucked off to Elgarn’an-knows-where. As it stands, Vivienne and Dorian are the ones she considers her closest friends. She spent the most personal time with them throughout the game and she relies on them for support in recovering from the fight with Corypheus as well as dealing with her grief over losing Solas. They love to chat magic between the three of them, and Gwen especially relies on Vivienne to be an anchor of sorts.
Iona: Varric and Blackwall, for sure. She and Varric have wildly different opinions about dwarven culture and society, but they’ve mostly moved past that by the end of things. She appreciates his sense of humor and easygoing temperament. Blackwall she was into from the get-go and as things start to get more serious between them, he becomes a real source of comfort with his stability and unwavering loyalty to her and their cause. Somebody she could see herself staying friends with even if they broke up.
Irene: Iron Bull. Which is part of why she romanced him. They clashed a little on Qunari/vashoth business at first, but Irene dropped it pretty quickly and when Bull left the Qun she was very supportive. With him she doesn’t feel like she has to temper her vasoth-ness, because he doesn’t have the discomfort around her that non-Qunari/vashoth do. She also appreciates his wit and relaxed attitude. Even when he was still Qunari he didn’t behave like what she had expected of a Qunari and that was something of a relief.
Thanks for the ask!

that character ask thing, how about August en Zaied?? :3c
Tumblr media
That funky, hunky elf.
Full Name: August en Zaied
Gender and Sexuality: Male and mostly Heterosexual. I think there is the off-chance fellow that might pique his interest, but not at a frequency that I think he would self-describe himself as bisexual.
Pronouns: he/him
Ethnicity/Species: Umbran Elf. I talked about this a little bit in Ganzrig’s thing, but most people on Ismes have a different race back in their heritage at some point, and individuals will look a little more or less human depending on how many actual humans are back in their ancestry. August is on the more human-y side of the spectrum.
Birthplace and Birthdate: I don’t tend to give birthdates to characters who do not use the same calendar systems as us. Maybe he was born in winter, ironically. August’s family formerly lived in one of the Umbran Empire’s capitol cities, and he was probably born on the family estate.
Guilty Pleasures: Not a ton. August is a very serious, dignified person and doesn’t put himself at risk of looking silly very often. He’ll smoke tobacco on occasion and likes his wine and port. He also knows how to play the accordion but just barely…which, really means that he doesn’t know how to play it at all, HAH. August also has a fondness for roses, as his mother had a garden on their old estate that she was very proud of. One thing he is guilty about is that after being exposed to and promptly rejecting most new technology…he really does prefer using an electric razor to a straight razor and no one can ever know. I think that’s his one true guilty pleasure. If someone caught him using it he’d be absolutely mortified.
Phobias: Oh wow I can actually fill this one out as god and OP intended, because August is a shipwreck survivor and now has a phobia of drowning and deep water, which is a shame because he’s a sailor by trade and formerly really loved the ocean. I do think it’s something he can work through if he tries, though.
What They Would Be Famous For: As far as August is concerned, he would prefer to not be famous for anything, ever, and that everyone would just leave him to his own business. Unfortunately, he has a moderate cult following on The Hunt for having a unique powerset and being kind of a dreamboat.
What They Would Get Arrested For: August is fairly lawful and coolant headed, so, not a ton, but if he were doing something to ensure the safety and wellness of his family, he’d go to some pretty far lengths. There’s a perfectly serviceable AU out there where August is a mercenary, pirate or assassin.
OC You Ship Them With: August was never actually envisioned as being a ladies man, but it’s just what happened along the way. All of the ladies he has slept with in-game have been older than him, so I guess he likes mature women, HAH. I enjoy the chemistry between August and Jake’s character Elias, who is a silver tongued cannibal and a privateer, go figure. It’s kind of a classic chemistry, sailor-hero type and pirate. Many moons ago, when August was first conceived and was still a female character, his love interest was a half-orc bard named Benji, but he’s since been written out of August’s original story and has been replaced byyy….Iona Howell, August’s canon love interest. The ferocious, emotionally unstable illuminator/wizard who is trying her best to get her shit together, and August’s on and off again girlfriend.
OC Most Likely To Murder Them: Pre-defection Iona was probably capable of killing August in a manic/jealous rage, though I think at the end of the day August is more powerful than her and would probably have killed her first as long as she didn’t get the drop on him. Ganzrig also threatened to slaughter and dismember him, but that’s just what Orcs do, I don’t know if she would have actually killed him.
Favorite Movie/Book Genre: August is from an early/mid 1800’s level society and so movies really overstimulate to the point that he generally avoids them. He resists most new technology at first blush and is very, very stubborn, though there are a few benefits that he cannot deny. He’s not really much of a reader either, his education stopped when he was somewhere between the ages of 12-14 so he reads kind of slow and his own handwriting isn’t very good, but that still puts him at an advantage among other sailors. He probably likes poetry because a) the ladies like to be read poetry and b) it’s something that could be easily translated into song or read aloud, which is his preferred method of receiving media. Epic poems, sea shanties, etc. August would go to a play before he would go to a movie, and would be perfectly entertained by being read aloud to.
Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: August used to be an atheist before his world’s god, Al Fortuna, decided that he was their new favorite person. Now he just thinks Gods are assholes and generally does not like any media that presents gods as anything other than fickle and more trouble than they’re worth. And he absolutely, tremendously hates the idea of things being ordained by “fate”.
Talents and/or Powers: A couple fun ones! August is ambidextrous and can wield a pistol and sabre at the same time, and is in generally very nimble. But the most notable thing about him is that August possesses a passive ability called the Miasma of Misfortune, which is tied to Ganzrig’s Fortune’s Favor. While bad luck does not fall on August’s own head, he exudes an aura of bad luck to people in his vicinity, which gets worse the longer that he is exposed to them without reprieve. August has learned to manipulate the Miasma to a degree, and can either reel it in or dump all of its focus on a single target, usually ending with some foolish prick stabbing himself on ‘accident’. Celair has also been teaching him some cantrips. He is from a low-magic setting, so he is not very magically potent.
Why Someone Might Love Them: August is easy to become infatuated with, but not easy to be in a relationship with, and there is a string of broken hearted maidens behind him. He is dashing and courageous, with an intriguingly intense personality, and is confident, but not in a way that dips into vanity. He’s also very earnest, a reliable, straightforward man that keeps his head on straight and seldom shows his temper (though when he does, watch the fuck out). Though not an intellectual, August is very cunning, and has a dry sense of humor that some appreciate. He’s also quite chivalrous, and I think there is a very classical, romantic element to him.
Why Someone Might Hate Them: When I say that August is not easy to be in a relationship with, it’s because he’s a vault and values his privacy to a fault. He seldom wears his heart on his sleeve, and prefers to keep his stronger emotions to himself, for better or worse, and has trouble expressing his feelings even when it’d be in his interest to. He’s the most stubborn man alive, and would sooner double down on something than let someone he doesn’t like be right, making him just a little spiteful. August is resistant to too much external change, especially with technology. He’s also quite dreadfully serious and finds people who are too goofy kind of offputting (ex: he tolerates Wybjorn, but probably wouldn’t have anything to do with him if they did not have friends in common). Someone may also find his priorities shrewd at first glance - his number one concern is providing for his family, and so he is easily motivated by money. Because he is very private, he is not likely to divulge information on his personal life, leading his motivations often obscured and at times misinterpreted. He does not care very much about what other people think, and so seldom clarifies.
How They Change: August changes a bit over the course of Godslaughter, but not very much, as he has mostly existed in an NPC capacity. The thing he will have to learn is to be emotionally candid with his family when he returns home, because they are going to have a lot of questions and he’s not going to want to answer any of them, but he HAS to. And things aren’t going to be the way he left them. Most of August’s challenges in this department are on the horizon.
Why You Love Them: August has a somewhat colorful meta history. He is my oldest character that I still use regularly (at over 5 years old) besides Calvin, and he was conceived at not a very good point in my life. I had been quietly struggling with my gender identity for many years, and had found myself pushing against my constraints in fiction, but by the time I got to the original August, I was exhausted and beaten down. The first pass at August was a very sad, somber character that was a lady crossdressing to work as a sailor. I’d hit on something important, but wasn’t really ready to open myself up to what it might mean, which, aside from being conceived during the worst year of my life, lead to Kismet collecting dust. Fastforward to 2018 when I was looking for Gods for Godslaughter, and remembered that I had always liked Al Fatima and Al Fortuna, and took another look at August by association. By now I was out as transmasc and decided it’d be a good step for myself to retool August into a character that I could be proud of - a confident, earnest person who wanted nothing more than to be the captain of his own fate and to protect and provide for the people he loves. I don’t really like talking publicly about my trans-ness, I (like August) have come to the conclusion it’s not really anyone’s business but mine, but my journey is inseparable from him. And that’s ok. August is my tiny hope that someday I can get a genre fiction story to a publisher that’s about a trans person, but is not about his transition or his coming out.

Drabble:  Summer drinks (aka Liese drinking with friends in Scotland) @walkingshcdow: tagging u for finnegan reference
“Don’t let Archie wrangle the rest of ya into his level of drunkenness.” Was the voice calling out turning Liesel’s head as she walked down the street of the tiny town temporarily called home. Features lit up at the sight of Keir unloading crates from his truck, drawing her off her intended path to the pub and over to her friend instead.
“There you are! Macie wanted me to invite you to come with us, but your mum said you weren’t in.” Petite frame reached into the truck to try and pull a crate out, but found herself gently brushed aside as Keir reached to take it instead.
“Splinters- don’t you touch one.” He scolded softly before scoffing at the invitation. “Macie just wants to see me drunk under the table with Archie and Caelen. I refuse to let her have that image. That ginger pain in the arse.”
“Oh, she just wants you to relax now and then.” Macie did have ulterior motives she was sure though. “Are you sure you’re not coming? Just for a little while?”
“Nah, I still ‘ave to go help your uncle prepare for tomorrow.”
A pout followed at the memory that Sasha would be checking in on his different contracts in the area than working his favorite estate. She leaned against Kier’s peeling truck that loved to sputter and growl like a lazy dog waking in winter while watching as her friend continued his work with a soft warm smile. “Wipe that look of’ya face, Liese. I’ll meet up with the rest of ya later this week, alright?”
Pushing off from where she was a hand raised to wave a finger at him as feet carried her further from him and back on track towards the pub. “I’ll hold you to it, Keir.”
“Wouldn’t expect anything less from ya.” Was  the huffed answer in response as he dropped another crate down before stopping to watch her walk off and enter the pub further along the way. If he strained to listen to the wind he’d hear the louder voices that had been carried out at the sight of the brunette’s arrival, but instead he turned around to continue his work only to turn face to face with a blonde.
“I don’t want to hear it from ya, Iona.”
Eyes rolled at the sound of her cool response as he tried to focus on his work. “I didn’t say a word, darling. Though I’m sure her uncle would approve one way or another-”
“It ain’ her uncle I’m worried about.”
“Stefan would come around.”
“I’m sure you’d love to try to convince him one way or another-” He snorted out stacking the rest of the crates together before dusting off his hands. “She’s much too young and I’m much too boring. There’s a gaggle of boys in the pub waitin’ for ‘er now; and for you too, if Stefan doesn’t mind sharin’ ya.”
“We’re not together, Keir, even if everyone likes to think it.”
“Maybe not right now.” Because he had seen the appreciative gaze of the eldest Ivanov sibling fall on his friend, but then again who hadn’t stared at the elegant curve of her frame and wondered just briefly- Clearing his throat briefly he turned back to the truck to get his keys and lock up. “But that won’t always be true - I’d bet my truck on it.”
“We’ll see about that.” Iona hummed with a curved smile before her hand brushed along his shoulder as s he walked past. “Don’t be a stranger, Keir. Come by the pub one of these days; on the house.
“We’ll see. Keep an eye on her will ya? Macie’s a witch and Archie-”
“I always do, Keir Duff .”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ya didn’ even try- did ya, Liese!” It was more statement than question from Macie Cairns, but Liesel knew better than to try fighting her as the ginger was already two beers in from having pre-gamed at home, stealing a few cans from her da.
“I can’t make Keir do anythin’ and you know it.” She sighed before casting a look over to Noel and Charley pleadingly for some kind of help. Unfortunately none would arrive as the next voice to pipe in only made things worse.
“She might have had better luck with his grace Finnegan.” The sneer in  Archie’s voice was ever so clearly present as the groans from the collective group of friends followed after. “I’m surprised you didn’t bring him along today.”
“Firstly, he's a 'lord' so the proper address is 'my lord' and I know you know that. I also know you're just jealous that he's more titled than you'll ever be.” For once some of the aristocratic airs of her best friend managed to shine though in the stable girl as olive green eyes leveled with the young baron’s blues, her head tilted slightly up while a half smirk teased on her lips. “Besides he’s got better things to do than hang with the likes of you, Archie.”
“Heaven forbid he spend time with the gentry-”
“Oh, would ya shut it, Archie.” Calen loudly let his pint hit the table as he scoffed at the younger man. “We all know yer’ still sore he kicked your arse at ya last polo match.”
“Very badly at that.” Charley added quietly drawing giggling laughter from Liesel as she bumped her shoulder in agreement while Macie sat down across from her with a wicked gleam that worried the visiting London girl. Somehow Liesel knew that Macie was still annoyed she hadn’t managed to drag Keir along with her into the pub.
“Besides we know Finnegan doesn’t mind slumming it the help-” Macie remarked with her mischievous gleam that Liesel knew would set off Archie on a different tangent if she didn’t get a hold on things.
Luckily she didn’t have to as Iona swept into the bar, silencing its inhabitants, to set a drink in front of Liesel. “Leave off of her Macie Cairns.” Dark ebony like eyes fixated to the other agitating offender momentarily, stealing Archie’s breath along with the rest of the boys at the table. “Same to you, Archie McNeill. Or do I need to bring up the fact that your da is also still sore that Aleksander Ivanov is still refusing to work with your family’s stables. Conflict of interest if I’m not mistaken; something about him preferring to work with a winning team- ? At least that was the rumor.”
It was Caelen who managed to break the trance, his chin resting on his hand as a teasing smile followed suit. “Funny thing rumors, hm, Iona?”
The beautiful thing about the eldest girl in the room was that she was unflinching, like a Scottish goddess listening to mice chattering away. The only sign of her annoyance was how dusky lips pressed into an even cool smile at the implication of her entanglement with the eldest Ivanov. “Yes, they are.” She mused before glancing to Macie then to Caelen again. “By the way that’s a beautiful lipstick you have on, Macie. Doesn’t Cora have something similar? Where is your sister, Caelen, hm?”
Mercifully, Noel, the quietest one of the group decided to pipe in with a slight plea to change the subject. “Right well, how about I get us all another round? On me?”
It was Noel who was the lucky one to have Iona pass by, manicured fingers brushing through his hair as she smiled at each table member. “This is why he’s the smart one of all of you. I’ll bring the drinks around in a bit. Behave children.”

The Sims 4 U
The Sims 4 Online Game Code ESRB Rating: Teen Aug 29, 2014 by Electronic Arts. 4.5 out of 5 stars. PC Online Game Code. Limited time deal. Click to see price. The original Sims 4 advertisements were filthy liars in the way it made it look like couches could hold multiple Sims all together like that. Well, this mod sets out to make this a reality.
Kalamainu'u Iona is a pre-made mermaid from The Sims 4: Island Living. She resides in Sulani as a townie. She is likely based on Kalamainu'u, a lizard goddess, from Hawaiian mythology. Kalamainu'u greatly resembles the main character Ryn from the 2018 Freeform TV Show, Siren. A Resurrect Cheat in The Sims 4 – Everything You Know About It! No one can deny that we need a resurrect cheat in The Sims 4. Being a simulation of real life, our video game deals with a lot of heart-breaking stuff, including Death. In The Sims 4, Death has its own place, purpose, and personality.
The Sims series aims to bring as much of the real world into its online universe as possible, so of course, there is an option to have babies. Further, the game also allows its players to have twins and triplets, but it’s a bit harder than having just one baby. In this guide, we are going to explain how to have twins in The Sims 4.
How to Get Twins in The Sims 4
If you’re familiar with the process of having a baby in The Sims 4 already, then you’re in luck, because having twins or triplets involves the exact same process. In fact, there isn’t really anything different about it. The only main difference is that players have a much smaller chance of having twins or triplets when they have WooHoo than they do have to have a single child. In The Sims 4, the chances of having twins are 10% and the chances of having triplets are 1%, while the odds of having a single baby is 89%.
As you can see, there is a pretty good chance that when you engage in WooHoo with the internet of having a baby, that you’ll have a baby, but there is a pretty small chance that you’ll have twins or triplets. Luckily, there are a few different ways for players to increase their odds, but we will get to that later.
First, we want to explain how to get pregnant. To have the “Try for Baby” option in a relationship, players will need to have an official partner that they are either dating, engaged to, or married to and will need to have reached the 40-50% mark in the relationship meter. Once you’ve met the criteria, you’ll see the option to “Try for Baby” alongside the “WooHoo” option in the interaction menu.
Alrighty, now that all of that information is out of the way, it’s time to explain how to increase your chances of having twins or triplets in The Sims 4. There are actually a couple of different options, depending on which packs you have, but there is one really good option that is available with the base game aptly named, “Fertile.”
Related: Pee Fire Thanks to the New Sims 4 Update Glitch
This item can be purchased from the Satisfaction Store for 3,000 Points and simply increases the chances of having a baby in general. It’s unclear how much this will increase your odds in each category, but it has been confirmed that it increases them all. If you have some of the expansions, you can continue to increase your odds with some things like the “Elixir of Fertility” (Outdoor Retreat Pack), “Fertility Massage” (Spa Day Pack), “On Ley-Line Lot Trait” (City Living Pack) and a few others. Players can also download mods to force their Sims to have twins or triplets, but that’s for another guide.

Summer [Iona]
Iona was eight when she first remembered her sister changing seasons. Eireann had probably changed forms before then, but memories spanning centuries were pulled and stretched like taffy; remembering anything from before she was ten was a surprise.
Her sister barged in through the front door. She was incandescent, her skin sunny and hair a searing orange-gold at the roots that rippled into a creamy white at the tips. Her personality aligned with her appearance—while still cheeky at her core, her chin tilted skyward, her temper boiling closer to the surface.
Looking at her directly while she stood in the light made Iona’s eyes ache. She hadn't understood it then, but her sister was young, too, less than a hundred years old; her control over her seasons hadn’t fully matured. She was the distilled fury and radiance of the sun in mortal form. As she flipped her hair over her shoulder and cut across the floor in long, powerful strides, a kindling built in Iona’s chest.
For the first time Iona thought: if her eladrin blood was closer to the surface and she could change seasons, she would be summer.

Carnival Brands To Four Launch New Cruise Ships In 2020, Including Its Largest Cruise Ship
Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest leisure travel company, announced it will launch four new cruise ships in 2020 across four of its global cruise line brands – Iona for P&O Cruises UK, Britain’s favorite cruise line; Enchanted Princess for Princess Cruises, the fastest growing international premium cruise line; Mardi Gras for Carnival Cruise Line, America’s cruise line; and Costa Firenze for Italian brand Costa Cruises.
Iona marks the first new ship for P&O Cruises since the introduction of Britannia in 2015. Enchanted Princess is designed from the ground up as a Princess MedallionClass ship. Costa Firenze is Costa Cruises’ second ship designed and built specifically for the China market.
Mardi Gras is named as a tribute to TSS Mardi Gras, Carnival Cruise Line’s first-ever ship, which marked a historic turning point in accelerating growth in the popularity of modern-day cruising.

P&O Cruises’ Iona and Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras will be the third and fourth (respectively) of Carnival Corporation’s 11 total next-generation cruise ships joining the fleet through 2025 that can be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the industry’s most advanced fuel technology, eliminating sulfur and significantly improving overall air emissions.
Part of Carnival Corporation’s strategy of measured capacity growth, each new ship provides an opportunity to introduce new guest innovations, energy efficiencies and sustainability approaches to cruising, while creating excitement, meeting growing demand and generating consideration of cruising as an extraordinary vacation at an exceptional value. The introduction of the four new ships in 2020 is part of Carnival Corporation’s ongoing fleet enhancement strategy, with 16 new ships scheduled to be delivered through 2025, designed to continue improving the overall guest experience while accelerating demand for cruising, the fastest growing segment in the vacation industry.
These new ships build on the momentum of Carnival Corporation’s four new vessels launched with rave reviews in 2019 – Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Panorama, Costa Cruises’ Costa Smeralda and Costa Venezia, and Sky Princess from Princess Cruises.
“Each new ship is an opportunity to generate excitement and buzz among consumers around the world, whether loyal guests or new to cruising, that will continue to inspire more travelers to consider cruising as a vacation option,” said Roger Frizzell, chief communications officer for Carnival Corporation. “We look forward to the delivery of four more spectacular ships, which will offer our guests the latest in onboard features and amenities – and help us continue our reputation for providing great cruise vacations that are significantly less than comparable land-based vacations.”
Below is a brief look at Carnival Corporation’s four new ships for 2020:
Iona from P&O Cruises (UK) – May 2020
When Iona joins the P&O Cruises (UK) fleet in May, it will launch as the popular British line’s first LNG-powered ship. Among the distinguishing characteristics of Iona will be the Grand Atrium, a new development for the cruise line with uninterrupted panoramic views of the sea, framed by glazed walls stretching three decks high. Located at the heart of Iona, the glazed Grand Atrium is a lively focal point that encapsulates the spirit of the ship, with each level offering natural light and breath-taking views.
Iona’s distinct “crown” will be the SkyDome, a new entertainment venue on the top two levels of the ship and capped by a glass-domed roof designed by award-winning British engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan, the team behind glass masterpieces such as London’s Embassy Gardens Sky Pool and Bulgari’s flagship New York boutique. SkyDome’s unique event space offers an ideal place for relaxation and informal dining during the day, transitioning into vibrant evening activities, including spectacular aerial performances, immersive shows and deck parties.
With a choice of 30 different bar and restaurant venues, Iona’s guests will enjoy the widest ever selection of places to eat and drink on a ship built exclusively for the British cruise holiday market. Innovative and flexible dining options include a “foodie” market offering cuisine from around the world, a new gastropub concept and a laid-back cocktail lounge.
As part of the new approach to dining, Iona will for the first time offer Freedom Dining in all of its main restaurants, giving guests more flexibility for dining. As with other ships in the P&O Cruises fleet, Iona will have The Retreat, a private, open-air deck area where cold flannels, chilled drinks, snacks and al fresco spa treatments are offered in the privacy of shaded cabanas. Iona’s Retreat will also have two infinity whirlpools.
Another new offering is the spa’s variety of destination-themed treatments with locally inspired therapies incorporated into the experience. Cruise guests might choose from rejuvenating options such as the Nordic Cleanse or the Baltic & Ice Massage, inspired by the Nordic heritage of hot and cold therapies.
Upon launch in May 2020, Iona will sail from Southampton, United Kingdom, exclusively to the Norwegian Fjords during the inaugural season with departures throughout spring and summer 2020, followed by winter sun holidays to the Canaries, Spain and Portugal.
Enchanted Princess from Princess Cruises – June 2020
Debuting in Rome (Civitavecchia) in June 2020, the 3,660-guest Enchanted Princess shares all of the spectacular style and luxury of its sister ships – Regal Princess, Royal Princess, Majestic Princess and the recently launched Sky Princess. Guests will discover exquisite, one-of-a-kind dining experiences, more pools and whirlpool hot tubs and world-class entertainment venues hosting dazzling performances. The ship also will feature breathtaking Sky Suites, with expansive views from the largest balconies at sea, which originally debuted on Sky Princess in October 2019.
Measuring 1,012 square feet (starboard side Sky Suite) and 947 square feet (port side Sky Suite), the furnished balconies will provide a private vantage of the ship’s Movie Under the Stars screen and create the ultimate space for entertaining. The two suites will also offer 270-degree panorama views and have sleeping capacity for five guests, and more room for gathering – making them ideal for families. Before Sky Suite guests board their cruise ship, they can take advantage of a pre-cruise, shoreside concierge. Once onboard, guests will also enjoy Sanctuary services on their balcony, a private suite experience manager, complimentary access to the Lotus Spa’s Enclave, enhanced ultimate balcony dining and even a deluxe telescope for Discovery Stargazing at Sea.
Enchanted Princess will offer new entertainment experiences recently introduced on Sky Princess, including Phantom Bridge, a world’s first game combining digital and physical elements for the ultimate immersive escape room; Take Five, the only jazz theater at sea, celebrating the iconic sounds, culture and history of jazz; and new one-of-a-kind production shows like Rock Opera created exclusively for Princess Cruises.
In addition, Enchanted Princess marks the second ship purpose-built MedallionClass newbuild. Featuring the complimentary OceanMedallion
Tumblr media
wearable device, MedallionClass vacations deliver an entirely new level of service and create a vacation that is more seamless, effortless and personalized. Considered a breakthrough in the vacation industry and a CES® 2019 Innovation Award Honoree, the complimentary OceanMedallion features leading-edge technology that delivers personalized service through enhanced guest-crew interactions, while eliminating friction points and enabling interactive entertainment.
Debuting in the Mediterranean in June 2020, Enchanted Princess will be named in Southampton, United Kingdom, and depart on its 10-day maiden voyage July 1 to Rome, where it will begin a series of Mediterranean cruises for the summer and fall before repositioning to Fort Lauderdale in November 2020 for sailings to the Caribbean for the winter season.
Mardi Gras from Carnival Cruise Line – November 2020
In a nod to Carnival Cruise Line’s rich history as America’s Cruise Line, the brand’s newest ship Mardi Gras was named in honor of the first Carnival Cruise Line ship that entered service in 1972 and played a leading role in generating widespread popularity for cruise vacations in the U.S. Mardi Gras will be the first cruise ship in North America to be powered by LNG, the marine industry’s most advanced fuel technology.
Carnival Cruise Line’s most innovative ship, Mardi Gras will feature groundbreaking experiences like the first roller coaster at sea, BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster. The thrill ride offers 360-degree views while guests race 187 feet above the sea with drops, dips and hairpin turns reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. Guests can choose their own speed on the all-electric roller coaster so no two rides will ever be the same.
BOLT will take center stage in the Ultimate Playground, spanning Decks 18-20 and home to the largest WaterWorks aqua park in the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, featuring three unique heart-racing slides designed for all-ages, an exciting zone designed specifically for kids with a 150-gallon PowerDrencher tipping bucket and numerous water toys.
Mardi Gras will introduce Emeril’s Bistro 1396, the first seagoing restaurant by famed New Orleans chef Emeril Lagasse that will be housed in the ship’s French Quarter, one of six themed zones on board offering a variety of food, beverage and entertainment choices.
Entertainment will be at the heart of Mardi Gras’ onboard experience with never-before-seen offerings including a first-in-fleet partnership with Family Feud, new high-tech Playlist Productions shows, a dedicated Punchliner Comedy Club, and new live music and entertainment options.
Mardi Gras is set to debut in November 2020, operating year-round seven-day Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral.
Costa Firenze from Costa Cruises – October 2020
Costa Firenze is the second ship for Costa Cruises built specifically for the China market, where the Italian company was the first international cruise line to start operating in 2006.
Inspired by the city of Florence and representing centuries of Italian culture and history, Costa Firenze will offer guests the chance to fully immerse themselves in Italian beauty and aesthetics, which will take shape in various aspects of life on board from interior design to dining and entertainment to hospitality.
Like its sister ship Costa Venezia, Costa Firenze will offer a series of innovations designed specifically for the Chinese market, including a wide choice of Chinese food, Chinese-style karaoke and parties such as the “Golden Party” with surprises and gifts awarded every 10 minutes.
Following its delivery scheduled for September 30, Costa Firenze will head to China, offering cruising for Chinese customers beginning October 20, 2020.

Dunkeld and Birnam, Perthshire, Scotland – October 2018
Tumblr media
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunkeld_and_Birnam
Dunkeld and Birnam is a community council area and UK Census locality in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, consisting of two villages on opposite banks of the River Tay: the historic cathedral "city" of Dunkeld on the north bank, and Birnam on the south bank. The two were first linked by a bridge built in 1809 by Thomas Telford.[2] The two places lie close to the Highland Boundary Fault, which marks the geological boundary between the Highlands and the Lowlands, and are frequently described as the "Gateway to the Highlands" due to their position on the main road and rail lines north.[3] Dunkeld and Birnam share a railway station, Dunkeld & Birnam, on the Highland Main Line, and are about 24 kilometres (15 mi) north of Perth on what is now the A9 road.[4]
Dunkeld (/dʌŋˈkɛl/, Scots: Dunkell,[5] from Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Chailleann, "fort of the Caledonians"[6]) lies on the eastern side of the A9 on the north bank of the River Tay.[4] The town is the location of Dunkeld Cathedral. Around 20 of the houses within Dunkeld have been restored by the National Trust for Scotland, who run a shop within the town.[7] The Hermitage, on the western side of the A9, is a countryside property that is also a National Trust for Scotland site.[4][8]
Birnam lies opposite Dunkeld, on the south bank of the Tay, to which it is linked by the Telford bridge.[9] It is the location of the Birnam Oak, believed to the only remaining tree from the Birnam Wood named in Shakespeare’s Macbeth.[3] The Highland games held at Birnam are the location of the World Haggis Eating Championships.
History
Early history
The name Dùn Chailleann means Fort of the Caledonii or of the Caledonians. The ‘fort’ is presumably the hill fort on King’s Seat, slightly north of the town (NO 009 430).[11] Both these place-names imply an early importance for the area of the later town and bishop’s seat, stretching back into the Iron Age.
Dunkeld (Duncalden and variants in early documents) is said to have been ‘founded’ or ‘built’ by Caustantín son of Fergus, king of the Picts (d. 820).[citation needed] This founding likely referred to one of an ecclesiastical nature on a site already of secular importance, and a Pictish monastery is known to have existed on the site.[12] Kenneth I of Scotland (Cináed mac Ailpín) (843-58) is reputed to have brought relics of St Columba from Iona in 849, in order to preserve them from Viking raids, building a new church to replace the existing structures,[13] which may been constructed as a simple group of wattle huts. The relics were divided in Kenneth’s time between Dunkeld and the Columban monastery at Kells, Co. Meath, Ireland, to preserve them from Viking raids.[citation needed] The ‘Apostles’ Stone’, an elaborate but badly worn cross-slab preserved in the cathedral museum, may date to this time.[12] A well-preserved bronze ‘Celtic’ hand bell, formerly kept in the church of the parish of Little Dunkeld on the south bank of the River Tay opposite Dunkeld, may also survive from the early monastery: a replica is kept in the cathedral museum.[citation needed]
The dedication of the later medieval cathedral was to St Columba. This early church was for a time the chief ecclesiastical site of eastern Scotland (a status yielded in the 10th century to St Andrews). An entry in the Annals of Ulster for 865 refers to the death of Tuathal, son of Artgus, primepscop (Old Irish ‘chief bishop’) of Fortriu and Abbot of Dunkeld. The monastery was raided in 903 by Danish Vikings sailing up the River Tay, but continued to flourish into the 11th century. At that time, its abbot, Crínán of Dunkeld (d. 1045), married one of the daughters of Máel Coluim mac Cináeda (1005–34) and became the ancestor of later Kings of Scots through their son Donnchad (Duncan I) (1034–40).
Middle Ages
The see of Dunkeld was revived by Alexander I (1107–24). Between 1183 and 1189 the newly formed diocese of Argyll was separated from that of Dunkeld, which originally extended to the west coast of Scotland.[15] By 1300 the Bishops of Dunkeld administered a diocese comprising sixty parish churches, a number of them oddly scattered within the sees of St Andrews and Dunblane.[16]
The much-restored cathedral choir, still in use as the parish church, is unaisled and dates to the 13th and 14th centuries.[12] The aisled nave was erected from the early 15th century. The western tower, south porch and chapter house (which houses the cathedral museum) were added between 1450 and 1475.[17] The cathedral was stripped of its rich furnishings after the mid-16th century Reformation and its iconoclasm. The nave and porch have been roofless since the early 17th century. They and the tower in the 21st century are in the care of Historic Environment Scotland.[13]
Below the ceiling vault of the tower ground floor are remnants of pre-Reformation murals showing biblical scenes (c. 1490), one of very few such survivals in Scotland. The clearest to survive is a representation of the Judgement of Solomon.[18] This reflects the medieval use of this space as the Bishop’s Court. Within the tower are preserved fragments of stonework associated with the cathedral and the surrounding area, including a Pictish carving of a horseman with a spear and drinking-horn, and a number of medieval grave-monuments.[18]
The cathedral museum is housed in the former chapter house and sacristy, on the north side of the choir. After the Reformation this chamber was used as a burial aisle by the Earls, Marquises and Dukes of Atholl, and contains a number of elaborate monuments of the 17th-early 19th centuries.[18] Also preserved within the museum are two early Christian cross-slabs, a number of communion and other items, and a display on the history of Dunkeld and the cathedral. In June 2005, there was a major theft from the cathedral museum. Items stolen included a quaich, communion cups, and ‘a cast-bronze beadle’s bell with a wooden handle, that was used in the cathedral from the 17th century.'[citation needed]
Battle of Dunkeld (1689)
Most of the original town was destroyed during the Battle of Dunkeld when, in August 1689, the 26th Foot (Cameronian Regiment) successfully fought the Jacobites shortly after the latter’s victory at the Battle of Killiecrankie. Holes made by musket-ball strikes during the battle can still be seen in the east gable of the cathedral.[19]
Townscape
The rebuilt town of Dunkeld is one of the most complete 18th-century country towns in Scotland. Many of the harled (rough-cast) vernacular buildings have been restored by the National Trust for Scotland (NTS).[7] The present street layout of the older part of town consists of a ‘Y-shaped’ arrangement, parallel with the River Tay, comprising a single street (Brae Street/High Street) sloping down from the east into the long ‘V’ of the market place, known as The Cross. Closes (lanes) leading off this main street give access to the backlands of the houses (a traditional arrangement in Scottish towns). On the site of the traditional market cross, the fanciful neo-Gothic Atholl Memorial Fountain (NTS) was built in 1866, as a monument to George Murray, 6th Duke of Atholl (1814–64). The Fountain is notable for its heraldry and Masonic symbolism, the 6th Duke having been Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, 1843-64.
At the west end of The Cross is the Ell Shop (NTS), built 1757, which takes its name from the iron ell (weaver’s measure) fixed against one corner. This building is said to have been built on the site of the town’s medieval hospital, dedicated to St George. At the north-west corner of the same row is the Duchess of Atholl Girls’ School, erected 1853 in neo-Gothic style, designed by R & R Dickson.[20] It is generally known as the Duchess Anne after its founder Anne Home-Drummond (1814–97), spouse of the 6th Duke of Atholl and Mistress of the Robes to Queen Victoria. The building is used for exhibition and other purposes, notably the popular annual Dunkeld Art Exhibition in summer.
The left arm of the ‘Y’ leads along Cathedral Street to the medieval cathedral, and the right arm (now largely blocked off) originally led to Dunkeld House, built by Sir William Bruce in 1676-84 for the 1st Marquis of Atholl. Demolished in 1827, this was one of Scotland’s major 17th-century mansions. A neo-Gothic replacement was begun on the same site but never completed (no visible remains). The area around the Cathedral was the original focus of settlement in Dunkeld in medieval (and doubtless earlier) times. Here stood the manses of the Cathedral clergy, with the Bishop’s Palace to the west of the church. This was also the position of the medieval bridge over the River Tay.
The alignment of the town was radically altered in 1809 by the building of a new stone bridge over the River Tay by Thomas Telford at the east end of the town, and the laying out of a new street (Bridge Street-Atholl Street) at right angles to the old alignment. This street, which retains much of its Georgian appearance, was part of the main route north to Inverness until Dunkeld was bypassed in 1977, along with Birnam, by the A9.
Both Birnam and Dunkeld have drill halls: The Perth Road drill hall in Birnam was completed in 1894,[21] whilst the High Street drill hall in Dunkeld was completed in 1900.[22] Birnam also has a community-run arts and performance centre and library, Birnam Arts and Conference Centre.[23]
Surrounding countryside
Dunkeld is situated in an area of Scotland marketed as Big Tree Country.[24] The area is heavily wooded, and has some notable trees, including the Birnam Oak, believed to the only remaining tree from the Birnam Wood named by Shakespeare in his play Macbeth:[3]
MACBETH: I will not be afraid of death and bane, till Birnam forest come to Dunsinane.
— Shakespeare, Macbeth, Act 5, scene 3.[25] The Birnam Oak stands a few hundred metres from the centre of Birnam on the Murthly Estate. Traditionally, it was known as "The Hangman’s Tree".[26] Other significant trees in the area include Niel Gow’s Oak, the tree under which Niel Gow, a fiddler under contract to three of the Dukes of Atholl,[27] composed many of Scotland’s famous strathspeys and reels. It stands near Gow’s home at Inver. The Parent Larch near Dunkeld cathedral is the sole survivor from a group of larches collected from the mountains of the Tyrol mountains in 1738, and which were the seed source for large-scale larch plantings in the local area.[3]
Much of the countryside surrounding the town is designated as a national scenic area (NSA),[28] one of 40 such areas in Scotland, which are defined so as to identify areas of exceptional scenery and to ensure its protection by restricting certain forms of development.[29] The River Tay (Dunkeld) NSA covers 5,708 ha.[30] Parts of the area also form part of the Tay Forest Park, a network of forests managed by Forestry and Land Scotland that are spread across the Highland parts of Perthshire.[24] About 2 miles (3 km) to the northeast of the town is the Loch of the Lowes nature reserve, managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.[31]
There are many walks in the area.[32] The 404-metre summit of Birnam Hill (on Murthly Estate) lies 1.5 km south of the railway station and is easily ascended from there, or from a car park to the east.[33]
Ossian’s Hall of Mirrors is a folly located in the pleasure grounds known as The Hermitage, located close to Dunkeld and Birnam. The site is owned by the National Trust for Scotland, and has walks in the wooded scenery surrounding the River Braan.[8]
Transport
The A9 through Dunkeld and Birnam was bypassed by a new section of road in 1977.[9] The town is now approximately one hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh, and two hours from Inverness, by car. There are regular bus and coach services to Birnam and Dunkeld along the A9, with long distance coaches operated by Scottish Citylink.[34] There is access by rail at Dunkeld & Birnam railway station on the Highland Main Line route between Perth and Inverness. Most services on the route extend to either Edinburgh Waverley or Glasgow Queen Street; on Sundays only a southbound train operated by the East Coast Main Line operator extends to London King’s Cross via Edinburgh, although there is no corresponding northbound service from London.[35] A daily (except Saturday) London service is offered by the overnight Caledonian Sleeper trains to and from London Euston.[36]
People
John Everett Millais, who painted many local landscapes, and Beatrix Potter, with her family, often visited Birnam. Potter drafted her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, at Eastwood House whilst writing a story and picture letter to child friend Noel Moore on 4 September 1893.[37][38] There is an exhibition and garden dedicated to Potter and her characters located in Birnam.[39]
Frances Anderson, biological mother of comedian Mark Steel was originally from Dunkeld, and owned the village deli.[40]
Dr George Smyttan FRSE HEIC (1789-1863) was born and raised in Dunkeld and retained links to Birnam all his life.

Hey, yooohooo...Chris! It looks like you have a visitor.
Iona Bartley & Chris Halliwell
So this one is tough, I’m not going to lie. I LOVE Iona as a character but holy sh*t she is tough to work into things. I guess they do technically have a future, and there is canon storytelling outside of the shows but part of me really wants them to like...go back to the past together. Or have Chris go back to the past, only to realize that this girl from the same future he’s trying to save everyone from is also there. So the way I see it this could go one of two ways.
1. Chris & Iona meet at magic school. After all, Phoebe would want to meet Drake’s daughter and Leo would know her mother, so there are plenty of connections there. Upon meeting at magic school they grow close, and throughout the two potential futures there relationship develops essentially the same give or take a few major plot points revolving around Wyatt.
2. Iona & Chris have the same idea upon realizing there is no returning to the good old days of pre-evil Wyatt. The two, completely seperate, go back in time and are both trying to help the Halliwell sisters (Iona presumably gets close to the remaining Halliwells, in this situation she’s forced to be with Wyatt). Only problem is, they already had to deal with one brunette trying to explain they’re here from the future to help, what will they do with a second who happens to be a whitelighter as well?
3. The third and most treacherous idea is that she never ends up with Chris as all. Option 2 happens, but as they grow up Iona ends up falling for Wyatt instead of Chris since Wyatt is good now and they have less uniting them. This is what’s going on in my current roleplay (not really my choice, the person I’m roleplaying frequently claims ships right off the bat so I never had a chance...with him or with John Alden as I learned lol). For this to function I would need to learn way more about Wyatt in the future, like 20+ years old because as of right now I know very little besides the evil plotline...
Honestly, the more I think about it I feel like Iona would be good to have without any inherent pairing. Obviously when you’re roleplaying you want to have that relationship going but like...Iona, the demon-witch...she just works so well as a close friend of the Halliwells. Maybe a bit of crushing here and there but no end games...not writing her into the plot for the sake of a pairing, just because she’s a cool character.

The Gatewatch as Representatives of The Color Wheel
Yesterday I was tagged in a post by @shorewall. That post can be found -->here<-- . To summarize it, the way I understood the piece was that @shorewall believed Jace, Chandra, and Liliana to be “iconic representatives of their colors. ( @shorewall)” Additionally, I understood that post to express @shorewall‘s  thoughts that Gideon and Nissa are not good icons of their color representation.
Interestingly enough, those are the two least popular members of the Gatewatch (”least” popular does not mean unpopular). While it may not seem anyhow correlated to @shorewall‘s argument, as a Psychology Student, I will have to argue that there is indeed some influence between the “least popular” nature and the idea that they don’t represent their color. However. I will be talking about this but not dwelling on this as I want to focus on @shorewall‘s actual argument.
The “least popular nature” of Nissa and Gideon stems from the fact that their personalities aren’t as crystalline, as discernible, as the other three. Gideon suffers from the “True Lawful Paladin” misidentification. Nissa suffers simply because she’s isn’t that big of a talker. But Gideon is far more than what he seems. Just because he doesn’t vocalize his struggles doesn’t mean he’s not a fully developed person. Nissa doesn’t need to chat. Introverts and shy people are people too.
While this post may have originated as a response piece, I will use it to help address many of the stereotypes about the Gatewatch members. The questions you presented, @shorewall, will be answered. But this article isn’t intended solely for that purpose. I want to educate and entertain everyone as well discuss with you.
So. Let’s talk about the members of the Gatewatch as icons their color pie slice.
Tumblr media
Gather ‘Round! It’s Story Telling Time!
Jace
Jace’s primary abilities are mind manipulation and illusions. We have seen him do a little telekinesis and some counter magic in the lore. But he can’t do much and they both wear him out quickly. However, there is a lot of Blue’s color suite we don’t see in him. I’ll mention some off the top of my head with the clarification that these in no way comprise the totality of what Blue can do.
Counter spells (not just a little), like Baraal
Ice, like Vronos
Water, like Thassa
Time Manipulation, like Teferi
Teleportation, like Venser
Artifacts, like Tezzeret
Polymorphing, like Jalira
For the purposes of this article, I’ll be only noting about 7 other abilities that the planeswalker doesn’t have. These 7, of course, do not encompass the entirety of the color slice.
As we will see further down this article, the planeswalker cards that are supposed to represent the Gatewatch do a poor job of capturing their actual powers. Usually, Wizards goes for flavor. But the reality is that sometimes the planeswalkers need some help staying on the battlefield, regardless of what their actual abilities in the lore are.
His planeswalker card show his mind mage abilities through milling. But they have yet to create a Jace card that emphasizes his Illusions. They give him unsummoning abilities and knowledge magic, neither of which he has ever shown in lore.
His personality also doesn’t perfectly fit with all of Blue. Jace has an obsession with learning new things, that’s for certain. (We will define “learning new things” and Knowledge Seeking by explaining that difference between curiosity and research) He’s got the obsession with commanding and controlling other people too. But there are a lot of things he simply doesn’t care for that are part of Blue philosophy.
Knowledge Seeking, like Tamiyo
Personal Perfection Seeking, like Pre-Bolas Tezzeret
Sharing Knowledge, like Master Hisoka and Barrin
Scientific Experimentation, like Geralf
Exploration, like Thad Adel
For the purposes of this article, I’ll present 5 major personality differences between the planeswalker and personalities they don’t have.
Liliana
Liliana’s primary abilities are necromancy. Both the Necromantic-Decay Force and the Zombie Raising stuff. But, like Jace, she simply doesn’t have the full suite either.
Thought Ruin, like Greel and Croag
External Blood Magic, like Sorin
Anti-Life Magic, like Ob Nixilis
Life Drain, like Drana and Yaheeni
Huge Summoning, like Chainer and Braids
Internal Blood Magic, like Toshiro Umezawa
Small Summoning, like Endrek Sar and Marrow-Gnawer
We’ve seen her do huge summoning, like when she created an angel to fight the ooze on Ravnica. But that cost her dearly and exhausted her. But that’s about the extend of her dabbling in other magics. Her planeswalker cards have represented her necromantic energy and necromantic summoning fairly well. However, they too give her abilities she has never once shown to have in the lore. Like Thought Ruining and Sacrifice magic. Or the one no one talks about... “Liliana of the Dark Realms”. Wizard’s most embarrassing mistake ever...
Personality wise, Liliana is all about the self-preservation, ambition for power, and manipulation. This, however, does not embody all of Black’s personality profile. In fact, we’ve even see her go directly against Black’s ideals. Often. To the point that she starts dipping her toes into White! But that’s not a conversation in this article. Back to the point. These following characteristics are things she doesn’t have.
Enjoying the suffering of others, like Crovax
Spite, like Chainer and Gisa
Murder for the Thrill, like Ink-Eyes
Ambition for Fame, like Kiku and Braids
“Leave Me Alone and Keep Your Problems Away From Me”, like Toshiro
Not all personality facets are here. And sure, she’s exhibited at least a tiny bit of these at some point. But that’s trivial. Those moments are not defining attributes of her character.
Chandra
Her main magic is fire...that’s it. Fire. But obviously that’s not all of the color wheel.
Artifacts Recycling, like Daretti
Object Replication magic, like Kiki-Jiki
Creature Summoning, like Rakka-Mar
Magic Replication, like Zada
Geomancy, like Koth
Pain Magic, like Tibalt
Emotion Excitement, like Grenzo
We haven't seen her do anything else, in my memory, other than fire. Her planeswalker cards have shown her doing replication magic and fire magic. Her spell related cards show her summoning phoenixes. But never once have we seen her summon or replicate in the lore. Just another example of having to prioritize game-play over flavor. Which isn't a bad thing. I’d rather them do that than make less planeswalkers, or worse ones.
Personality wise, Chandra is also not completely representative of the color wheel. We have seen her impulsive nature, her loving side, and her angry side. We’ve even see her...well... best for for it is innocence, though the word “genuineness” would apply equally.
Thrill Seeking, like Kari Zev
Challenge Seeking, like Kamahl
Vengeance Seeking, like Grenzo
Chaos Seeking, like Krenko
Fervent Passion, like her parents
Nissa
Nissa has Animist magic, the ability to manipulate land and plants and summon elementals. We’ve also seen her use short bursts of personal strength boosting, though it’s uncommon. But like everyone else, her magic doesn’t encompass much else that’s available.
Targeted Power Boosting, like Thriss
Team Healing Magic, like Ezuri
Self-Healing Magic, like Isao
Team Power Boosting, like Dwynen
Creature Summoning (elemental summoning is totally different), like Garruk
Resource Allocation/Reallocation like Azusa and Rishkar and Selvala
Warding Magic, like Melira
We’ve seen a little bit of Mana Pooling, but it was a very unique instance we haven’t seen again. Her planeswalker cards actually do some justice to her abilities for a change. Except for “Nissa Revane”...that was is weird. The Joraga Elves exiled her and wanted nothing to do with her. And Nissa doesn’t summon elves...so. I guess “Nissa Revane” is the equivalent of “Liliana of the Dark Realms”
Nissa’s Personality is interesting. We have seen in her, primarily, the idea of inner calm and peace- of personal harmony. We see in her the love of nature. We see her love and concern for others. But there are many aspects we also don’t see.
The Obsession with Evolution, like with Vorinclex and a little bit of Garruk
The Obsession with the Hunt, like Garruk and Surrak
Fierce Territorial Defense, like Rofellos and Freylaise
Fierce Advocacy of Nature, like Selvala
Nurturing, like Multani and Oviya Pashiri
Desire for Isolation and Introspection, like Khamal and Iwamori
We see Nissa show some of her nurturing side with Nissa as she tries to help teach Chandra to calm her inner self. But that trait isn’t a defining feature of Nissa’s. We’ve only seen it there, indicating that it’s more of a trait brought about by a specific individual, not because it’s definitive of her nature. We’ve seen her territorial defense on Zendikar, but her defense of her team isn’t ferocious. It’s more out of love than out of benign possessiveness.
Gideon
The last member of this assessment is Gideon. Magic wise, we know he specializes in Detention Magic and Protection Magic. But, like everyone else, he simply doesn’t have the full suite.
Reinforcement Magic, like Elesh Norn and Jazal
Healing Magic, like Oriss and Ajani
Small Summoning Magic, like Darien and Elspeth
Prevention Magic, like Iona and Thalia
Destruction Magic, like Mageta the Lion and Elesh Norn
Reanimation Magic, like Reya Dawnbringer
Lithomancy, like Nahiri
His cards also fail to properly show him. Just like everyone else, they give him powers on the cards that are never hinted at in the lore. For example, summoning. We’ve never seen Gideon summon, or even pretend to summon. Yet half of his cards do that. Champion of Justice exiles and Ally of Zendikar boosts allies. Also stuff we’ve never seen him do in the lore.
As usual, Gideon’s personality isn’t all encompassing. We seen him with the desire to help those who can’t help themselves. His “I have to save everyone” complex is pretty blatantly defining. We’ve seen his ability to lead and inspire as well. But we haven’t seen these characteristics in him:
Forcibly imposing ideals upon others, like Order of Heliud
Obeying the law for the sake of the law, like Sram and Pre-EDM Odric
Obsession with control, as seen with the Consulate
Self-Righteousness (the ideal that I can do no wrong and everything I do is for the greater good so you can’t disagree with me), as we see in Konda.
Prejudice and Hatred, like we see with The Order of Dominaria and Elspeth
We have seen Gideon dabble in many of these characteristics and the other White characteristics, but he’s moved away from them once he actually found them.
Throughout this article, I’ve discussed the power suite available to the Gatewatch and how they are specialized. I’ve discussed the Gatewatch’s representation on the cards, and how unreliable those representations are. I have also discussed their personalities and provided proof that none of these people have everything that their color normally has.
So why did I do all this? To prove a point. That no one in the Gatewatch perfectly represents their color pie slice as a whole. However, I have also shown that what we do see of their color pie representation is accurate, if incomplete. I have provided evidence that all of them are at least equally representative of their color pie. The word choice there was “representative”. Not “Iconic”.
Jace:
Ally Color Pairs White-Blue: Jace doesn’t have much interaction with White mana people yet Blue-Black: Jace and Liliana have their thing going on
Enemy Color Pairs
Green-Blue: Jace and Nissa have a some level of intimacy. Jace is also apparently friends with Garruk. Red-Blue: Jace has had a rough history with Chandra.
Liliana:
Ally Color Pairs: Blue-Black: She and Jace have that thing going on Red-Black: Liliana actually enjoys Chandra’s company
Enemy Color Pairs: White-Black: "I hate angels” - Quote Green-Black: Liliana has dealt with Garruk and found Green distasteful
Chandra:
Ally Color Pairs: Red-Green: Chandra and Nissa have their intimacy together Red-Black: Chandra either doesn’t see or, more likely, doesn’t care about Liliana’s ambitions. She just enjoys Liliana’s company.
Enemy Color Pairs: White-Red: Chandra and the Consulate have never gotten along. Not to mention The Order of Heliud. Blue-Red: Baraal and Chandra. Enough said.
Nissa:
Ally Color Pairs: White-Green: I can’t see much of a relationship here. Red-Green: Chandra and Nissa have their intimacy
Enemy Color Pairs: Blue-Green: Nissa has her own level of intimacy with Jace Black-Green: Nissa has a history of being betrayed by Black mana. I.E. Sorin.
So where does that leave us? There is certainly some level of relationships going on that make sense. But the reality of the matter is that people are people. Not color pie slices. And people can get along or can not get along. Their lives and personality should not be restricted by their color slice. Influenced? Yes. Defined and restricted by? No. That’s just weak storytelling.
The color wheel exists for a variety of purposes. Pay attention to this. This is important:
“The Color Wheel Exists To Provide Definition, Not Limitation” - @the-foxwolf
People cannot be stereotyped into a box. We do not fit into neat little categories. That’s human nature. You may have a first impression or a surface appearance, but that will never tell you who they really are. Those of you who are in a minority group in whatever location you’re in can attest to this reality. Let me put this another way.
I am a American Citizen of Hispanic Origin. I was raised in a Mexican Cultural Environment. BUT. I am not defined by my ethnicity. Listen to that again. Just because I am Hispanic does not restrict me to only being Hispanic.
I am allowed to have attributes of other cultures just as I am allowed to not have attributes of my own.
My identity is still valid even if I am not a perfect example of my culture.
This exact idea is what applies to the Color Wheel.
Liliana being at her core a Black character doesn’t mean she can’t have some White. When taking on Tezzeret, she should have just killed all his guards and summoned a zombie army.
Nissa is a Green character. But she left Zendikar to explore herself, to develop herself as a person- to stop being a force of nature.
Jace is Blue. As such, what happened on Zendikar with the release of the Eldrazi has nothing to do with Blue. A pure Blue character would have gone to Zendikar to watch. They wouldn’t have apologized for being a part of releasing the Eldrazi. And they especially wouldn’t have helped stop them. He showed some White.
Gideon is White. But he’s been working with some Green. He’s trying to harmonize with his team. That’s beyond just working well with them. Beyond just leading them. He’s trying to build a culture among the Gatewatch where people trust one another and like each other. Not an easy task. But pure White wouldn’t require that. It would be satisfied with them being able to work well and be at peace with one another. It wouldn’t care about the personal experience of each member and how to best include them into the group.
Chandra’s got a lot of Blue in her. She’s constantly striving to become a better person, to overcome her flaws. A pure Red character would come to love themselves as they are and not care about their faults. But Chandra wants to change. That shows that she’s got some Blue in her.
What I’m getting at is that the color wheel should help flesh these characters out, not limit them. From a story-telling perspective, forcing the enemy-ally relationships on the Gatewatch would not only feel forced, but it would add WAY too much unnecessary stereotyping to the characters. It would shove them into their color and not let them be the people they really are.
Conclusion
If you take nothing else away from this article, take this with you:
“The Color Wheel Exists To Provide Definition, Not Limitation” - @the-foxwolf
This applies to personalities. It also applies to powers. I do not need have every single aspect of my Mexican heritage to be a Mexican. I, for one, don’t like Mexican fashion. Especially traditional stuff. But just because I do not have that aspect, that Mexican fashion, as a part of my life, does not mean I am not of Mexican heritage. The same applies to the powers of the Gatewatch. Just because they can’t do everything doesn’t mean they’re not still good examples of their color pie slice.
