Yes, you can submit songs from musicals and TV shows. However, I won't be including more than 2-4 songs from each media, depending on how long that particular soundtrack is.

Song must be at least remotely fuck-you-up-ish. You must be able to justify its place within the tournement

You can rant a bit about whatever blorbo you may project the song onto. It'll help me understand it better

One Piece Crack Ship War - Submission post!

Welcome to the One Piece Ship War - crack edition!

What is a crack ship?

A crack ship is a (in this case romantic/sexual) ship that has little to no basis in canon.

When will my ship qualify for this tournament?

They will automatically qualify (after having been submitted) when:

The characters involved have NO canon interaction*, and are not part of the same crew (no matter how popular the ship is).

The characters involved have 1 short canon interaction and less than 10 fics for them on AO3 (as a side pairing counts too)

They might qualify if:**

They have no canon interaction but are part of the same crew or organisation.

They have 1 short canon interaction but more than 10 fics on AO3

They have 1 long canon interactions or 2/3 short ones and less than 10 fics on AO3

They have multiple canon interactions but NO fics on AO3

It's an incredibly funny ship (but you gotta convince me it's crack!)

These ships will not qualify on principal:

ANY ship between Strawhats (honorary Strawhats don't count if they haven't met a certain Strawhat - examples: BrookNami does not qualify, SanjiVivi does not qualify, but BrookVivi would qualify)

The top 25 ships (or something, be sensible) on AO3.

*canon interactions include fillers, cover stories, specials, and movies (though I haven't seen the last 2 yet and I don't remember much of the other ones, so these might slip through, but I'm counting on you to honor this rule). Also, I won't know nor check interactions in the manga (that haven't been animated yet), so something might slip through there as well. Just honor the rules, please.

**Any ships in the 'might qualify' category will be judged on crackyness by me first, and when I'm in doubt, I will put them up for a vote - so expect a few polls for this.

Rules!

All characters must be from One Piece (no OCs).

Must be a crack ship according to above guidelines.

Ships that were in the previous shipping war tournament are allowed in this one too, as long as they follow the previous rule.

No moral limitations. These are fictional characters, not real people. Go wild. (But be prepared for 'problematic' ships to be voted out in round 1 or 2.) I will not start discourse/moral discussions about any ships! (messages about morally questionable ship are likely to be ignored and deleted)

Poly ships are allowed! I will cap them at 5 characters, however, and at least 1 character should follow the interaction rules stated above. (examples: JinbeRobinBrook or KidLawLu are not allowed. RobinNamiKiller would be allowed, on grounds of Killer having no interactions with the other 2 (I think? 😂)) Again, be sensible here.

All characters involved have to be humanoid. No concepts, objects, or full animals (fishmen/merfolk, minks, and Chopper are allowed).

You can submit multiple ships, but use a new form for each ship.

Do not hate on other ships, just support your own.

You are allowed and encouraged to submit fanart! As a lot of these ship won't have official art with all characters in it, it will come down to fanart for the most of it ((bad) edits are also very much allowed). However, it needs to be your own or you need permission from the artist before submitting it! However, if you haven't gotten permission yet when submitting, you can always send me a link to the fanart later. Without picture submitted, there might be a chance your ship will have to compete without a picture.

Keep the main images SFW and spoiler free. Propaganda can contain nsfw stuff and manga spoilers, as long as it's announced up front (eg: [Spoilers ahead]/[nsfw ahead])

Guess That Ship Tournament Season 10: Submissions CLOSED!

The Concept: You describe your ship* to me, I pick out the submissions which I find most compelling and pit them against each other without revealing who they are, people vote on them, and their identities gets revealed once they’re eliminated.

Something special for this season will be a loser's bracket: the identities of the losers of Round 1 will not be revealed immediately. Instead, they will compete in their own bracket, and the winner will face against the finalists in the main bracket.

Submission Guidelines

*For the purpose of this tournament, relationships do not have to be romantic in nature. I’m sometimes going to use “ship” as a shorthand, just know I mean “relationships” in general.

Relationship can be between any number of characters.

Real people are accepted if they’ve been dead for more than 100 years.

Roleplay characters are accepted as long as the description only pertains to the characters and not the players.

OCs are accepted.

No overtly NSFW submissions. (Mentioning they have sex or are a sex worker is fine, but try to avoid anything more than that.)

Two submission per person. (I cannot enforce this on Google Forms without forcing you to log in. So just be champs and respect this rule.)

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in all of your submissions being disqualified for this season.

Summary Guidelines

Selection Process: I will read through the list of descriptions submitted without reading their names and pick the most compelling submissions. Then, I will check the name to make sure there's no repeats.

Keep it concise, but also bring something unique to the table. Make sure to describe their relationship, not just summarize the events of the story.

Previous submissions for reference. The ideal submission should be 2-3 paragraphs, but you can make it as short or long as you want. Please keep in mind the longer your submission, the less likely it is to get in.

A list of things to try to avoid can be found here.

Descriptions should be based on canon, not headcanon. (e.g. You can say “they love each other” instead of “they’re lovers” if their romantic nature is debatable.)

Avoid author commentary. (e.g. "They're canonically x," "I love them," "Play/watch/read this," etc.)

Use canonical pronouns.

Avoid identifying information or setting specific giveaways. (i.e. Ninja village, space necromancers.)

When submitting OCs, please make sure to at least put a name somewhere. (e.g. "John and Bob by anonymous" or "OCs by Joey.")

The more popular your ship is the more vague the description should be.

Exclusions

Ships that were accepted in Season 7 onwards and ships that at least reached the semifinals in Season 1-6 are not allowed. For a complete list, please look here. (No need to look through the whole list, just Ctrl+F to find the ship you want.)

Any submissions from Harry Potter will also not be included.

Notes

I will not vet the ships/pairings for problematic content.

Welcome to the Problematic MCU Ship Tournament!

This blog will pit 64 different pairings against one another. All of them are in some way “problematic”- some feature a minor and an adult, others feature incestuous pairings, others still simply have questionable or potentially abusive dynamics. Many ships combine elements of more than one.

Each day, 4 polls will be posted pitting two different ships together (for a total of 8 ships per day). You are free to vote in as many or as few of these polls as you’d like.

This blog is explicitly pro-ship and anti-censorship, and obviously features dark themes. If this is a point of discomfort for you, you are free to block this blog, I don’t bite. Hate towards anyone (and anything unreasonably rude about ships or characters) will not be published and users that send it will be blocked. Nothing explicit will be posted to this blog, regardless of the ship, so minors are free to interact if they so wish.

The bracket below shows all the ships that will be posted, as well as their first opponent. After the first round has been completed, the diagram will be updated and all of the winning ships will be pitted against one another. does explaining your guy (gender neutral) make other people laugh? go "what the fuck?" "Huh?" personally, i adore characters who's existence sounds stupid and nonsensical. thus... the tournament is born.

regular rule applies: you can nominate multiple characters but do not nominate the same character multiple times number of submissions doesn't matter here what matters is their levels of wacky

i'm not checking the things the characters are from for being problematic and i am not well acquainted with what is generally considered to be so be advised. i might do background checks on characters but not what they're from, but if it's like an extreme case, you are free to bring it up to me and argue why a character should be removed i will hear you out. generally, if the character that is being nominated isn't abhorrent themselves (nazi, pedo, etc i will be the judge on that) it's acceptable

if you're unsure what counts, i'd say follow your heart. basically just assume that so long as it's not realistic and describing them to another person might make them laugh or confused they are a viable fighter, they don't need to have a quirky personality themselves if everything else about them is the utmost quirky. i will dictate what does and does not count at my own discretion

- dark riku from kingdom hearts: a replica of a replica of a guy named riku that time travelled to the future. the guy's deal is so confusing and not explained clearly enough that i think majority of the fandom still don't know what the hell he is. there's a scene where the riku replica is apprehending dark riku and riku is watching them

- denji from chainsaw man: was in debt for like a fuck ton of money and sold one of his balls, later became a devil hunter and all he wanted from his job was to touch boobs. loves dating women who want to kill him, had a whole sharknado scene where he was trying to kill his girlfriend

- CANNOT interact in canon! We are talking the obscurest of obscure. I need to have to hunt these character down and edit them into a photo in order for them to be valid. If I google their names together and can easily find official pictures of them hanging out it’s invalid(exceptions can be made depending on circumstances)

- CAN be from different source material. Literally anything goes!! Anime character and Spongebob? OKAY!!! Two characters from the same show who’ve never interacted?? YES!! I’m looking for ships you need to explain the development of. There needs to be a lore.

- CANNOT have a mass following. Once again, I’m looking for ships that can only be comprehended by a group of friends with insider knowledge. So things like BBC Sherlock’s mormor, despite being a ship wjere one of the characters technically doesn’t exist, doesn’t count on account of being immensely popular and having several hundreds of fics made for them. WE’RE TALKING WEIRD. RANDOM. OBSCURE. There’s gotta be like 5 fics of them MAXIMUM(exceptions can be made if they’re all by the same one or two very dedicated ppl)

- ALL SUBMISSIONS WILL BE JUDGED BY DEDICATION NOT NUMBERS!!! I want you FIGHTING for your LIFE to justify why your blorbos are not only weird but extremely valid to ship. I want to see essays with the same passion and effort youd put into your English paper worth 50% of your grade.

Rules & Guidelines:

As the name implies, they have to be FRIENDS to lovers. The ship does NOT have to be canon; headcanons are perfectly fine. Edit: You can submit OCs, but there's no guarantee they will be shortlisted. It will be tough competing with canon characters so you'll want to make your propaganda super convincing to increase their chances of being shortlisted

“How about enemies to friends to lovers?” That’s a fantastic trope which deserves a tournament of its own. As such, we won’t be allowing any enemies to friends to lovers ships (same with rivals to friends to lovers). However, strangers to friends to lovers are acceptable. No Harry Potter or Youtubers/Vtubers/other real-life public figures who are still alive. We’ll only consider real-life sources if they are funny enough

Please keep to an appropriate age difference between your blorbos. As a rule of thumb, no one under 18 with anyone over 18 (though if your blorbos are very close to 18 by +/- 1–2 years we would consider them)

You’re allowed to submit multiple ships from the same fandom; just start a new form if you want to submit a different ship. However, please only submit ONE ship each time

Propaganda and info-dumping is welcome and encouraged!

Shortlisting criteria: We’re looking for at least 3 submissions for a ship and/or very convincing propaganda, so show your passion for your lovebirds! That said, we’re also humans with our own blorbos so we may give ships from fandoms we’re in favourable consideration, but we’ll also try to be as fair as possible to everyone

Between the two of us we know a fair number of fandoms but we don’t know EVERY piece of media out there. We’ll do our best to do background checks, but things might still slip by us. As such, if you see any ship you think is problematic, please politely let us know and explain your reasoning in an ask (no DMs because this is a shared sideblog, but you can request for us to answer your ask privately as long as you turn off anon)

Submissions ARE CLOSED NOW will be closed on 30 June 2023, 6am PST or when we have enough submissions (we're looking at maybe 64 right now but that's subject to change)
