Andrew shows his phone to Neil—Aaron. Answers it. “What’s up? You’re on speaker. Neil’s here.”

“Good,” Aaron says. “I’m pissed at both of you.”

Andrew looks at Neil, panicking.

“You fucking assholes,” Aaron rails, not waiting for them to answer, sending Andrew into a visible spiral. “My wife doesn’t speak German!” Oh. “Freddie’s speaking half in German and my wife doesn’t understand a fucking word he says, you jackasses, what did you do?”

“Gave you a bilingual baby,” Neil says, grinning. “Like Angela.”

“Both of Angela’s parents are bilingual! Katelyn is not!”

“Teach her,” Andrew suggests, trying to keep himself under control. “Bonding time.”

“We’re both doctors! We don’t want to spend our bonding time with me teaching her German, that’s fucking dumb bullshit. Jesus. Bilingual baby. Hey. You guys have five years.”

“For what?” Neil asks.

“If in five years I don’t have the smartest baby in the neighborhood, I’m fucking coming after you. This had better pay off.”

“I mean, in five years, his competition will just be John,” Neil points out. “There won’t be any other babies in our neighborhood.”

“And John is stupid,” Aaron says thoughtfully.

“Is he?” Neil asks. “I’m honestly curious, I don’t know how smart babies are supposed to be.”

“I’m sure he’s fine,” Aaron says dismissively. “But. Five years, fuckers. Don’t think I’ll forget.”

“I’ll be sure to remember,” Andrew says solemnly.

“I’ll hold you to it. You’ll have to babysit him more often, you’re the only people who have a shot at understanding him right now, he’s pulling the same bullshit as Angela.”

Neil grins at Andrew. Andrew relaxes. He hasn’t ruined his relationship with Aaron. “We can handle it, probably.”

“Fucking better be able to. Okay. I’m leaving. Gotta try to get some sleep before my rude-ass baby wakes me up.”

“Sleep well,” Andrew says, stilted.

It takes Aaron a second too long. “You too.”

Andrew hangs up, before Aaron can consider saying anything else.

Sims Challenge PSD Template

There was a template by Cosmicamos that I loved and wanted to use it for my sims. However, their blog and download have been taken down so I decided to re-create the template myself. I went further by adding my own twist on it to make it different and unique compared to theirs. This doesn't have to be just for challenges, as their original post said, but it can make playing challenges more organized.

Now to the nitty gritty of what you will need to use this template below the cut.

A program editing program that can open PSD files.

Some of the fonts I used are paid fonts. I will link some free options in addition to the ones I used from Creative Fabrica. -Short Bio Font: Life Planner Duo (paid) or Sunday Pizza (free) -Challenge Rules Font: Marshmallow (paid) or Family (free) -Character Name/Home/Traits/Rules Font: Sim Sans Bold (free) -Career Font: Sticky Planner (paid) or Halimun (free) (Note: opening this file in any of Corel PSP programs will result in you being unable to edit the text)

Icons are from luniversims though I had to scour the internet for the jealousy trait icon for mine.

I'm sorry for using paid fonts. When I chose the fonts, I wasn't originally going to release this for download. I forgot that I used paid fonts until I was making this post.

If you need any help finding free fonts, icons, or anything about the template then please send an ask so I can help you. Modify the heck out of this template to suit your needs. I'd love to see what you do with it so feel free to tag me if you use it. I'm hoping to create more templates for download and this will also help me know if there's a demand for it. Even though I didn't come up with the original design, please don't claim this as your own and don't edit it and then re-upload it. I did include a little TOU just to cover all my bases.

Okay let me use my assassin Yasuke ideas vs the usual modern black characters are written

Actually it came from early access games when they did colonial thus slavery. In ac black flag your first quartermaster is a runaway slave turn pirate named Adewale who you meet when before you escape the doomed treasure fleet

Oh yeah the ship in the game is supposed to be the theorize ship that escape the storm.

Now Adewale enjoyed the pirate life, but as stated that he never had the same joy as the other golden age pirates and during the story he does stumble upon the assassins and templar because of his captain Edward did as well….well more because he stumbled upon a traitorous master assassin and accidentally gave away the West Indies brotherhood bases.

Ugh sorry adhd. But Edward and Adewale had a fallout, Edward eventually stop his foolish chase to become rich after most of his pirates friends did and properly join the brotherhood like Adewale did.

Now there are standalone dlc called freedom cry where Adewale ends up on Saint Domingo and oh boy they NO problem showing the cruelty of slavery as much they could in a 2013 game even in the database. But there was no Templars involved in the running colony. As that did not matter for freedom cry story show that the assassin brotherhood main cause is to fight for the freedom for all humans.

So yes Adwale played the seeds of the Haitian revolution. Though it was established in the psp game ac liberation that the Saint Domingo assassins were radical and François Mackandal was a extremist that took a twisted view on the brotherhood which lead to the 1751 port au prince earthquake

Sorry for the set up, earlier in the game Edward asked Adewale if there was any place he wanted to go back to. Because at the end of the day Edward was to have enough wealth to tell his father in law to piss off.

Who he later learned was a Templar who let his daughter/Edward first wife die from a fever. No wonder Eddy took care of him after going back to Britain

Now to Yasuke, it stated that the devs did change his past a bit. Where he was the only survivor on a slave ship where everyone, including his lover, was killed. And in he eventually ends up under Oda and began a samurai apprenticeship

Iirc, he did have his own house and had a servant. So I think it very likely he would have become the first foreign samurai if not for the hojo incident

But given he was in Japan for 3 years prior to him disappearing from records. I think they are going with a “foreigner who want to protect his new home” as the basic for his desire to unify Japan in red story.

But if I was a head writer on red, I wouldn’t Yasuke as a black ™️ character. I would writer an immigrant who want to protect his new home. Of course I would tackle the whole no ganjin law the Tokugawa set up (though I have a HUGE hunch William Adam is going to join or be ally of the brotherhood to go between Japan and other countries)

But I using universal themes, like coming from nowhere, adapting to a new place. Calling it your new home

The issues when modern black ™️ characters is that activists presume that no one else had slavery ancestry, being oppressed or fucked over by the government

I mean just about everyone did, but no one cling onto the past. Or lionizing their og oppressors or what black Americans did why the Dahomey because they have the same skintone

I like this and the stuff before too, nice thing about historical fiction, even with real people, is you can fiddle with details.

Part of that is concern over being "canceled" for writing just the wrong thing, which is one of the big reasons it's all gotten to where it is now.

And the audience is also berated if they opt to not consume something because the only reason could be that they're racist.

Racism is killing creativity, but not the kind of racism people want to talk about.

about yongjia and kailah

aaauuhh the twins. the twinnytwintwins

so yongjia is older than kailah, right? he's older by 4 mins... people expect him to hold it over kailah's head (like all big siblings do) but in reality, kailah holds the fact that she's younger over his head proudly

and of course he can't say no, that's his twin...

i mentioned yongjia dyeing his hair in order to be different from kailah when i first posted the oc list! he really went through a phrase..

he got sick and tired of people comparing him to his sister. growing up, they had the same everything. it was the "you're twins, you should have similar things!" mindset that the people around them had

he got sick of being called the quiet one. the antisocial one. the aloof one. the boy who they couldn't figure out why he didn't want to make friends, when his sister could surround herself with them so easily?

it did affect him little by little – he tried to do the same things that kailah did.. maybe it'd make him more likable? his analytical brain just tried to figure out why she was so much better than him. maybe if he changed, they would be on the same level and people wouldn't be able to compare them anymore.

i don't think it affected him that much until he snapped at kailah :') she asked for a wrestling match/tickle fight and he just broke down. he's not one to fight, he disliked play wrestling, he didn't enjoy boxing, he exhausted so much energy trying to be in high spirits all the time and he just couldn't.

kailah just wrapped him in a hug for a solid 20 minutes while he sat there and cried.

after that incident, he swore never to change himself to be like someone else. as a small, tiny (or not so tiny) act of rebellion .. he dyed his hair light brown so that it'd be different from kailah's.

if you think she was upset by it – she wasn't! in fact, she helped him to apply it and everything. it was quite sweet :3

but also yesss. the twins have a good relationship. there are times where yongjia still needs to fight the green demons, but she's always there to reassure him that he himself is enough and that should be good enough for him alone :')

occasionally, he's the one who sends kailah into fits of full-on belly laughter. and it's usually done with the most deadpan face known to mankind..

he's sweet. and she can be incredibly considerate, despite how brash she can be sometimes

they complete each other hehe :3 i love my heart and mind twins so much

He’s masculine and can enjoy traditionally feminine things like painting his nails and styling himself in pink. He’s not too tall so kissing him is super easy. He’s very passionate about the things he likes. He’s willing to better his body even after being told he won’t make it past 12?? Oh my goodness when I first played the game back when it first came out, let me tell you… I had seen the light… I am a super big fan of STARISH and at one point I was an Otoya girl… But Syo reigned me back in very easily. His voice lines for birthdays, White Day, Valentines, and his own… I really, really like Syo. Honestly? He’s the character I can say is a comfort character to me? I had a rough childhood and him greeting me when I logged in or asking if I would eat dinner with him… He seriously is the best in the whole wide world!! <3 <3 <3

Well... Duh. Despite them being considered more of a rarepair in fandom (despite it being basically the second most popular Koushirou ship out there besides Koumi), they are actually one of the most developed, most elaborated relationships in the entirety of the Digimon Adventure canon, regardless of which version you want to take a look at: 01, 02, (especially) Our War Game, the novels, the PSP game, the stageplay, the reboot and, to some lesser degree but still palpable, Tri and Kizuna. They're set up as "brawns and brains", the brave hands-on protagonist who always asks his knowledgable strategist for advice, relies on and trusts in him without a shred of doubt, whereas said strategist would also follow him to hell and back, despite sometimes having to shout at him for being too reckless. Without Taichi, Koushirou wouldn't have gone to Summer Camp - and without Koushirou, Taichi would never have figured out a way for them to get back to the real world. They complement each other in their strengths and weaknesses, they may butt heads occasionally, but they're there for each other as good friends and comrades. So that is a very clear YES.

Whether I think why and how they’d work:

Since they're my absolute Digimon OTP, I do believe that they work out very well - not only have I already outlined why they're basically best friends in canon and thus work out nicely in a platonic friendship, but there's also a lot of aspects about them that make me adore them romantically as well. You just take the jock/nerd trope and flip them completely over the head - so you get a very kind football dork, who loves to take care of youngsters and immediately grows attached to the computer nerd who came into his club and is not very good at social interaction - yet. What happens? They become super good, if not best friends, the nerd is getting enabled to become just as much of a hands-on person as the jock, opens up more and more through the course of them spending time in a foreign world together and with the other kids as well, they solve puzzles and riddles together as partners in crime while displaying a sense of unshattered loyalty towards each other. There may be instances, as mentioned, where they butt heads because they're not able to talk about feelings well with each other, but they're still there to support and sacrifice themselves for one another, saving several worlds several times in the face of death and it's just... It gets to me. Tri probably realized that, after Our War Game, these two would probably be unstoppable if they really worked together, which is likely the reason why they didn't let them interact THAT much during their teenager years - however, the connections never really faded. Koushirou watched Taichi throughout all these years, he’s the only one who really knows about his childhood trauma, would always have his back and sacrifice himself for his sake - the boy who once reached out a hand to him at football club. And Taichi, no matter how much he'd isolate himself from everyone emotionally, will always trust in Koushirou in return - the boy who had been by his side through thick and thin, the person who saw him cry his heart out. To me, it's just a wonderful concept to have these two fall for each other romantically as well, as they just seem to be endlessly loyal - ending up working together one day, because their careers just seem DESTINED to be linked with each other (and the Digital World, which will always bring them together).

Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:

As pointed out above, I actually do enjoy both variants - in a universe in which these two end up falling in love with each other and overcoming all their oblivious nut-ness, realizing that that make each other better AND happy once they FINALLY open up to each other, I would cry tears of happiness. However, if I ended up getting a universe in which they'll always remain close friends until they're old and grey, working together while being married to other people (like Taichi being married to Sora or maybe even Yamato for that matter - and Koushirou being married to Hikari or Mimi), I would be perfectly happy as well.
