I have... complicated feelings on the revelation that wolfertinger666 was puppychan. I do want to say, though, that I don't like people claiming he was faking mental illness. It was very clear something was wrong, whether anything he said was faked or not. Mentally stable people do not make constant suicide threats or what have you, regardless of it was attention-seeking.

People with mental disorders, especially those from other marginalized groups, are going to be messy, sometimes dangerous, and twitter fame and infamy did nothing to help it, especially not right wing extremists targeting him. Yes, he was attention-seeking. Yes, he was toxic and problematic. Yes, his actions were awful. But there needs to be a level of understanding that people with severe mental disorders are going to do awful things sometimes. Hell, everyone does. I've burnt my fair share of bridges via panic episodes, and my actions weigh on me to this day. But these people need help, not further ostracization and isolation, beyond removing yourself from a situation that is dangerous to you, because they've also had awful things done to them, and their very own mind constantly fights against them. Accountability is important, but we need to be careful not to invoke the prison system we claim to despise.

DID/plurality is an especially messy thing. Memories and/or feelings of other identities can sometimes linger or be accessed, but that doesn't make it fake. From my own experience with plurality, which I do not bring up lightly, even if you remember your alter's actions, they still feel distant, like those of someone else. I see his recent apology as a genuine acknowledgement of his alter's actions and claiming and accepting those actions as his own, even if it feels disconnected to him. No apology is perfect, either. People can only articulate so well.

None of this is to say you need to forgive him, or interact with him, especially if you were affected. But it's been years. I believe he deserves a chance to atone, especially if we're to claim we support people with mental illnesses. Also, this is the tgirl tboy tranny faggot site, stop policing his queerness. We're not twitter and we're not the moderators.

That all said, keep an eye on him. I'm fully aware I may get burned for putting any trust in him again.

EDIT: Apparently he hasn't really changed much, if at all. He's still best avoided. Razzicetea pointed out his ongoing issues.

Parts of what I've said still stand. Claiming anyone's mental illness to be fake, policing queerness, and denying atonement and the opportunity to change on a broader scale are dangerous things. I do still think he deserved the chance to do better. But he ultimately didn't take it, and that's on him.

I'm half tempted to just be anon but, I wanted to give my two cents on everything that's happening and say that your posts helped me come to an understanding how I feel.

I am a very real account and not a faceless mask for haters to doubt. I have done my research on all of the old pup stuff and current Salem stuff.

I desperately want to believe Salem can change and heal and be better, but their apology made no real attempt to divide themselves from what happened. The apology felt more-so like "I do not condone what happened, but like a different person enough to warent no hate, but not different to act differently or let go of ocs." It irks me. I looked up to Salem a lot as the face of transmascs and was thrilled he had transfem characters. But now, knowing that this is the person with the puppychan "alter," someone who has lied and lied and *LIED* about everything before. How can I believe him now? Pup has fetishized transbians and transwomen before, which leaves a very sour taste in my mouth with transmascs that don't present masc at all. I ate that up when I thought it was just a small little bunny boy online but now I just... Feel so betrayed. All of it feels disengious and like another lie. I struggled for hours debating on trans ethics on identity and if someone who was transfem can be transmasc and it feels so gray to me. It's confusing. Who ever reads this, please don't Harass Salem. I desperately want Salem to be better and hope He will be. I'm begging that we never get another reason to not trust Salem.

i agree with what you say completely. puppy had a very long history of lying especially if it would garner him sympathy or pity. the most glaring examples i can think of is when he lied about being "deathly allergic to blueberries" just to suicide bait like this.

puppy also randomly claimed to be both psychotic and schizophrenic when they got called out for using a meme using the term "schizo meltdown". neither illness has never been mentioned before or since. this is why i have so much skepticism about his claim of dissociative identities especially as we find salem and puppy act, talk and draw identically.

i also think puppy/salem was never transfem. this was a common misconception because of the sheer amount of transfem fetishization he was constantly putting out over years. which is really saying something.

man thinking about users like puppychan and birdie (if you don’t know who they are, good) and. god they’re just such tragic cases. I used to wish I was famous online at like 11, the ages that they joined the internet and actually DID get fame, and watching them deteriorate over the years as a result of the attention that was constantly being piled on them was just. horrific honestly. it doesn’t excuse anything horrible they might’ve done but Jesus. I can’t imagine what it must do to a young mind to be under so much scrutiny while shoveling dopamine into your skull by scrolling furry art on twitter. Especially when people levying genuine criticism against you are also mixing that with disgusting bigotry. No one wanted to help these children, they just wanted to hate on them for being autistic/mentally ill/poc/queer/fat etc etc. and now they’re too far gone to save. (at least I think puppy is, last I’ve heard of him he’s still on tumblr and blaming his actions on ossd, but I’ve heard birdie has left the internet in a genuine attempt to get better).
