Changeling types

This is some lore I wrote for a fic I'm writing about what happened to the changelings after gen 4. I'm still working on the history but here is some biology.

All changelings can 

Shapeshift 

Process wood/organics to make hive walls 

Drain and distribute love 

Firstborn- live in established changeling hives, almost no natural weapons (horns at the most) Chiten covers wings/lower back. Tend to be more pastel/cool tones but all colors are possible. Unmetamorphozised first born almost exclusively swear fealty to Queen Chrysalis. There is one exception, the Cocoon hive ruled by three Nymph siblings Cocoon(she/her), Pupae(she/her), and Husk(he/him). 

Everfree changelings are changelings that hatch in the everfree forest. They have many natural weapons, mostly horns and fangs but stingers are not uncommon. They tend more towards more vibrant colors and earth tones. They all have a horn on the tip of their snout from having to break out of a harder egg. 

Crystal changelings live/hatch in the crystal empire. Same as firstborn but shiny and more gifted in advanced magic. (no one in current cannon knows about them) 

Maturity levels (age in months) 

Larve - 0 - 7 - Changeling babies. No natural weapons. Can be metamorphosed if cared for by loving caregivers. When hatching a firstborn changeling will be similar to an 18 month old child, able to walk a few hours after birth and repeating words they heard in the egg (it is very important to talk to changeling eggs for this reason) will almost always be dull colors because they are still growing. Everfree changelings skip this stage in favor of longer incubation. 

Hatchling - 8 - 16 - firstborn hatchlings are still too young to begin education and so are in the full time care of parents or nannies. Everfree hatch around month 6 and are able to fend for themselves very fast. 

Child - 16 - 48 - school age - Everfree changelings begin to seek more high risk targets

Adult 48+ ready to do adult things, like get a job or pursue a masters. Everfree changelings past the worst of the danger. Having either found a place for them to survive or having been accepted into a hive. 

Most undercover changelings work as influencers/pop stars/ other jobs that entice affection from the public. This never results in metamorphosis. Changelings can store love within them, either for later or it can be shared with others. (not really relevant if they already have a positive relationship) 

In current equestria about 1 in every 16 people would be a disguised changeling. 

Current Equestria has a population of about 1 mil with the populations of the three tribes being roughly equal.
