Some Enjoltaire scenes from the 2019 staged concert
Tumblr media
Ok, so this is during Red and Black. Look how Grantaire is focused on Enjolras during his whole speech. Then Enjolras says ... do we fight for the right to the night at the opera now, and Grantaire laughs with the most affectionate look on his face. He's 100% buying everything Enjolras says. He even loves his dumb little jokes.
Tumblr media
But then!!! Enjolras goes after him specifically with, Is it simply a game for rich young boys to play? And Grantaire isn't even angry for this. I think he's more like - of course you're right Enjolras. I'm useless. For a moment I was so lost in your words I thought I was as brave as you all, but I'm not.
And then!!!
Tumblr media
Exactly at the moment Marius sings breathless delight, Grantaire bursts with laughter and comes over to TOUCH ENJOLRAS' NECK AND PULL HIM INTO AN EMBRACE. And I'm sure he's saying something along the lines - You see, I told you the same before. Won't you forget your stupid plans for a moment, just like Marius did?
Enjolras obviously has other ideas but he doesn't look like he's. Shocked or offended by Grantaire's excessive familiarity. He even looks at him fondly at the beginning and leans into his embrace.
Tumblr media
And then, Drink with me. So Enjolras was sitting in the back while the other guys were singin, but when he hears Grantaire being distressed, he comes over to try and comfort him :(. He specifically gets up only to come to Grantaire.
Tumblr media
And he whispers something to him. Probably telling him to stop drinking for now, as he takes his bottle to raise a toast with others. And Grantaire doesn't even care 🙃.
All in all, I really love how these little scenes show their relationship. They seem to be genuine friends! I specifically love how Enjolras clearly cares about Grantaire even though the two of them may argue and don't agree on many things. But he doesn't look down on Grantaire with disgust, he's more like trying to make Grantaire to get himself together.

It's just occurred to me that when I saw Les mis in the west end I had Raymond Walsh and Samuel Edwards as my Grantaire and Enjolras
I wish I'd payed attention to what they did half way through drink with me instead of being twelve

“Enjolras and Grantaire were gay.” I say into the mic.
The crowd boos. I begin to walk off the stage in shame, when a group of voices speak and command silence from the audience,
“He’s right.” I look to the owners of the voices, and there in the 5th row stands: Victor Hugo, George Blagden, Samuel Edwards and Raymond Walsh, themselves.

I think Tumblr deserves to know that after seeing Les Mis on tour with my little brother (who knew nothing about the show going in), he came away with the same favourite characters as me who he has now taken to reffering to as "Monsieur Blonde Guy" and "Monsieur Drunk Guy", or collectively as "Those Cool Gay Ones".

I just think it's important for the world to know that at the final (muck-up) matinee of the les mis uk tour during drink with me enjolras blew grantaire a kiss while standing front and centre on stage and I would like to thank Sam wyn morris for killing me with that

grantaire for the blorbo bleebus form
Do you know the door you just opened for asking about him. My man. It’s been how many years since I got into les mis and I’ve seen way to many versions- read the brick twice and this Mf remains in my head rent free. I think I’m out of it and he’s just sitting there.
Tumblr media
Really wish I could’ve seen Steven as R, but the guy in the Us tour two years ago was great. Raymond is still a fav and I think if we look past the many many mistakes of BBC les mis - they had one of the Best R’s
Also worth mentioning the 1982? 84? French film for as fucking weird as it got in some places was good, anything is better then the fucking 70s one. (If I remember right I had a night where I binged all the movie versions I could get hold of)
Another side tangent but the more I watch the more I grow to really dislike the 2012 movie and realize it kinda fundamentally ruined how people view most characters at least fandom wise. 25th anniversary and all star recording proved you can do The Whole Musical and people will go nuts (and they just stood there imagine with a movie budget!!) it especially did wild amounts of damage to R- like taking out almost all of his lines and then giving him his solo only to not actually include it in the fucking movie and taking away his relationship with Gavroche (don’t get me wrong it’s cute with courf but only serves to remove even more from R’s character, complexity and role within the movie).

i remember when i went to the west end to see les mis. it was my first show ever, i was sooo happy and excited and next to me there was a elder couple and at the end of the show i was obviously crying my eyes out and the old man looked at me and went "they were really great weren't them" in the nicest tone ever and i was like "yeah it was amazing it's like my first show and i came all the way from france to see it i'm just really happy" and his smile went even bigger and he went "oh i saw the first cast back in the 80's but this cast may be even better !" and idk that was one of the most wholesome interaction i have ever had

Just got back from Les Mis in Sunderland Empire, it was absolutely phenomenal can't recommend it enough. The cast were all excellent and the lighting/set was so inventive and clever. The deaths were more moving than I've ever seen them before. I don't think I've ever cried so much at a live performance. Shout out to the two (and then three) ensemble guys having gay sex in the background of Master of the House, you're my heroes. 10/10
Please ask me about it in the comments if you're a fan I really want to talk about it I literally don't think I'll ever recover
