Good morning 👋. Mid-morning yesterday, I was able to come facte to face with a Miami Tiger Beetle (Cicindelidia floridana). It was hot, I was sweaty but at the moment nothing mattered more than this beautiful tiny jewels 😍. Kudos to the Scientists that have to brave the elements in order to study and protect nature #eduardosalcedo and thank you for inviting me to come along during the survey 🙌. This species of #tigerbeetle is endangered and it is found in very few sites in #Miami , hence my amazement and rapid heart beat when I first saw them (and possible camera shake too) 😉. Tiger #beetles are fast runners. In fact they are so fast that their peripehral vision becomes almost null when they are on the move. This is why they pause often in order to get their bearings 😱. And this is when you get close to them and try to fish a couple of #photos ☺. This small subject (about 3mm/0.25" in length) did push the boundaries of my #macro lens + macro adapter combo. And because they move so much, it is not practical to set up a platform for the camera as I would have had to reposition it often. It was better to handheld the camera and hope for the best. So what are impressions of this beautiful but sadly endagered species?
