Conform or Change- Chapter 2

“Now Shy, I told you that you don’t have to help me cook. Now you go on somewhere!” Anna Mae cried out to Shy while pushing her out.

Ms. Anna Mae was the Munteanu’s house keeper. Just like Shy, she was from the south, Alabama to be extact. She moved up here with her son and his family because The Jim Crow Laws that incite violence and mobs against black people. Ms.Anna Mae didn’t take crap from nobody, black or white, and she defitnely didn’t like when you was in the kitchen.

Shy laughed at Ms. Anna Mae as she tried to get her out of the kitchen. However, Shy still standed at the counter cutting the collard greens. Ms. Anna Mae shooked her head and turn around back to the stove.

“ Now you must really want that boy to fire me now! You over there fixin them good collard greens.” Ms. Anna Mae said in her Southern accent.

Shy smiled to herself as she kept cutting the collard greens. She look to see out of the window into the backyard. The kids were playing around in the mud with Elena.

“ Oh God!” Shy said in a quiet hush tone. She wasn’t upset about them playing, but she was upset about how Florian would react to their clothes. On Sunday afternoons, some of Florian close friends from the mafia come to eat lunch.

Shy quickly wipe her hands onto her apron. As she was bout to go out to the back door, Florian walked into the kitchen. Ms. Anna Mae could feel the room get cold as Florian walked in.

Shy turn all the way around to see Florian looking outside the window. He looks back to her and shook his head.

Florian turn to the fridge to get him a brew. Shy turn back around to the collard greens and went back cooking.

“ Boy, why are you shaking your head at that girl?” Ms. Anna Mae looks towards Florian.

“ It’s nothing to worry your brain about Ms. Anna.” Florian lied as he took a big gulp of the brew.

Ms. Anna Mae looked at him like he had two heads on him.

“ Well, butter my damn biscuit! Now, I wouldn’t have ask that question if Ms. Shy wouldn’t cry right as you left this kitchen!” Ms. Anna Mae voice rose an octove as she looked at Shy.

Shy was quietly whimpering as she cut the greens.

“ Shy, baby, turn around.” Ms. Anna Mae said while Florian was looking on to. Shy quickly put down the knife and wipe her eyes. As she was doing that, Ms. Anna Mae look at Florian watching his wife.

Nothing.

Florian seem like it was nothing wrong with his wife. Now if ge made Shy cry a few years ago, he be comforting her.Ms. Anna Mae knew them since the twins was two years old. She seen them when they were happy and they use to make her yelled at them when they need to go to a bedroom.

Now, Ms. Anna Mae saw two broken spirits that don’t know what to do no more.

As Shy turn around, she looked at the floor. Florian turn to Ms. Anna Mae and then turn back and walked out the kitchen.

“ Now, Shy, I know you shy. However, you need to take up for yourself honey!” Ms. Anna Mae looked at Shy.

Shy all of sudden just broke down crying.

Ms. Anna Mae rushed over to her and went to hugging her. To Shy, Ms. Anna Mae was the mother she never had.

“ I know. I know.” Ms. Anna Mae held her as she cried along with her. Even though, Ms. Anna Mae didn’t know exactly that was bothering Shy.

She did know that when somebody was hurting.

As they stood their for a moment, they was interrupted by the kids running in with Elena. The kids ran through the kitchen and into the living room. Elena saw the tear-filled eye of Shy.

“ Shy what’s wrong!” Elena run over to Shy.

Shy shooked her head, and just turn back around to cutting the greens. Shy wasn’t mad at Elena, but she didn’t like when there was so much attention on her.

Elena look at Ms. Anna Mae.

Ms. Anna Mae walked over to the stove while pushing Elena over there too.

Ms. Anna Mae said in hush tone what happen.

Elena really wanted to slap her cousin. She didn’t only want to slap him, but herself too. She should’ve told the kids to stop playing and shouldn’t have even join them.

“ Should I tell him that it was my fought?” Elena asked Ms.Anna Mae.

“ He is still going to say it is my fault.” Shy spoke quietly, but loudly enough for Elena and Ms. Anna Mae to hear.

As Elena was about to say something,the door bell interrupted her.

Everybody knew, that the semi quiet house was about to interrupt into chaos. Elena went to the door and open it to see many of the mafia members, their significant others, and kids.

Soon the house was in chaos.

As everybody mingle, Shy stayed in the kitchen as per usual. Shy really didn’t talk to any of the wives.They were all genuinely nice to her.Even though, the wives range in many different race and nationalities, Shy just could never talked to them.

Shy had extreme social anxiety and with sheltering herself as a child. She made her social anxiety even worst.

As Shy kept cooking, the door bell rang again. As the door open, the room erupted in cheers.

Shy wondering whom could it be.

She finish stirring the pot of Cabbege Rolls for Mr. Alexundru that loves his home country food. With that, she tooked the apron off and headed to the living room.

Everbody was around the person that walked in. Soon as Shy could see the person, she grin from ear to ear.

“ Now where is my Shy!” the ringing voice yelled.

Everbody started to seprate and Shy eyes land on her.

“ Marilyn!” Shy ran to hug her sister.

“Majorie!” Marilyn said while hugging her sister even tighter.

At the tender age of 23, Marilyn have been everywhere. From, Milan, Paris, Barcelona, England. Marilyn is an NYU graduated and have been working and organzing for The Black Femnist Movement since then.

As the sisters kept hugging, a small voice spoked up.

“ Aunt Mar, did you bring presents?” Florian Jr asked with his siblings behind him.

Marilyn smiled, “ Of course I do! I actually got presents for everyone!”

Marilyn open the suitcase by her feet and let everyone at them.

Shy and Marilyn walked back to the kitchen where Elena, Ms. Anna Mae, and David was at.

“ Well, look a here. I didn’t know they let sleazy night walkers back into the U.S!”Ms. Anna Mae sassed at Marilyn.

“ Well, I don’t know why Shy still have a country pumpkin of a hag still working for her!” Marilyn devilishly smiled.

Shy popped Marilyn on the head.

“ What, she started with me first!” Marilyn shouted back at Shy.

Marilyn walked over to Elena and gave her a hug. Just not any old hug, but a hug that lasted for a minute.

Even though David and Ms. Anna Mae was finishing the food. Shy looked at the two.

She knew that hug just wasn’t a friendly hug, but a hug that meant more.

The two let go and stare at each other for a minute, before Marilyn saw out of the corner of her eye to see her sister staring.

“ Well, where is that no good husband of yours?” Marilyn scoffed out her lips while walking over to Shy.

Shy, whom was fixing Mr.Alexundru plate, looked at her sister with pleading eyes.

“ What, he is no good!” Marilyn said in a matter to fact voice.

“ Little girl, stay out of them folks business. You need to find you a man of your own instead of opening up your legs so wide!” Ms. Anna Mae spoke up.

“ You need get like David here!”, Ms.Anna Mae tap David on the shoulder, “ Be a virgin!”

Elena, Marilyn, and Shy snickered under their breath.

Of course Ms. Anna Mae thought David was a virgin. He was of course, to women, however men was another thing.

“ Well thank you Ms. Anna Mae for putting my business out there!” David stuttered with embarrassment.

“ Of course honey!” Ms.Anna Mae smile while walking with a dish to the dining room.

All the girls start laughing at Ms. Anna Mae.

As they all calm down, Marilyn spoke.

“ Shy, I got you some good news!” Marilyn smiled.

As she was bout to come out with it, Ms.Anna Mae yelled, “ It is time to eat everyone!”

“ Oh tell me later Marilyn! I got to get the kids to wash their hands!” Shy quickly washed her hands in the sink.

“ Can you also get all the men from out of Florian’s office!” Shy left the kitchen to get the kids.

Marilyn rolled her eyes as she realize that she was going to see the man that made her blood boil.

Florian and Marilyn use to be cool with each other, but as Marilyn went to school and started to learn more about female empowerment. She realize that Florian was a man with a big ego.

Along side, that he blame her sister for something that happen two years ago. However, how Marilyn saw it, it was his fault.

As Marilyn got to the door, she just listen for a bit of the conversation.

In the room, Florian and many of the younger men in the mafia talk about their wives and lives. While the older men spilt up from them and talk about their youth.

“ Florian, how are you and the Mrs. I heard that Anna Marie came to the church!” Oscar said with his thick Puerto-Rican accent. Everybody quiet down when they heard what Oscar said.

“ Nothing happen.” Florian said in a cold tone.

“ Well Mr. Bossman, that is not what I heard,” Oscar went on, “ I heard that Anna Marie was basically saying all of the out of the box things. With that, you let her say them things!” Oscar finish up.

Florian glared at Oscar.

“ Damn Boss, the downstairs not that good anymore?” Brian spoked to Florian.

Florian was listening, but was in his own thoughts about Anna Marie. He was thinking about her in way that would not be pleasing.

“ You see it is true! You having an affair with Anna Marie!” Oscar said in a shocked voice.

Everybody look at Florian.

He didn’t say anything.

“ We haven’t done nothing, but whenever I am on top of Shy, I think about her!” Florian confirmed anybody suspicion of his relations to Anna Marie.

Everybody was quiet.

When Marilyn heard that, she was anger personified. She wanted to go in there and choke Florian.

Marilyn still with anger, put on her award winning smiled and barge in. All the men glance and saw her.

“ Oh Mamcita, you look more beautiful than ever!” Oscar glided over to Marilyn. All the men, except Florian, looked at her with goo goo eyes.

“ If you are not single, I will tell your wives that y’all are looking at me crazy. With that, the food is ready!” Marilyn said with a nonchalant tone.

All the men walked towards the dining room table. With that, Florian was the last one to leave.

Marilyn looked at him up and down. She knew something was wrong with her sister when she first came in, but Shy would always brush under the rug.

Marilyn knew she needed to say something.

With that, the wheels was turning as she headed to the dining room

4 hours later...

Everybody was having a good time mingling and eating. The kids were outside playing in the back yard with some of the elders of the mafia watching them.

Then all the adults were sitting at the table. Florian and Shy sat at the ends of the table, with everyone else in the middle.

Marilyn thought this was a perfect time to tell everyone her good news.

She stood up and tap her class to get everyone attention. She looks around, seeing everyone smiling but Florian.

“ Well, I have some good news for myself and my sister,” Marilyn smiled, “ Well I got a job as a professor for Women Studies at NYU!” Marilyn screamed with joy.

Everybody cheer, excepted for Florian.

“ With that, that means I am staying back in the New York full time!” Marilyn scream once again with joy.

Marilyn looked at her sister and could see the happiness beam off her.

“ I also said that I had a surprise for my sister.” Marilyn smiled to Shy. Marilyn took the big envelope off her seat and hand it to her.

All the wives knew what it was, and they all ran over to surround her.

Shy looked at her sister with Marilyn giving her a nodded.

She read whom it was from:

New York University Admissions

Shy open it and took out the paper.

“ Marjorie Munteanu, we will like to officially accepted you into the The Betterment Program!” Shy yelled out with excitement.

She ran over to her sister and hug her tightly.

“ Plus, it’s free since I work there!” Marilyn yelled out.

Even though, Marilyn wanted to travel more . Whenever reading letters from her sister, she felt so much sadness behind them.

Marilyn might be the youngest sister, but she is the big sister in some sense.

So when, one of her friends recommend her for the professor tenure. Marilyn thought about Shy and how much this could help her.

Shy is always doing for others, but not doing something for herself.

As the women where celebrating, all the men looked at Florian.

Florian was furious.

“No.” Florian snapped while slamming his hand on the table.

Everything turn very quiet in the dining room, and even outside where the kids were due to the door being open.

One of the elders close the door knowing it was about to be bad.

Marilyn looked at Florian.

“ Well she is! It’s not like you paying for it!”Marilyn exclaimed while looking at Florian.

“ She is not going.” Florian assured while looking at Shy. Florian went back eating his pasta.

“ It’s fine. We can talk about it later.” Shy stuttered out.

Florian looked back up and said, “ There is nothing else that needs to be talk about, and that is final.”

“Shy you really going to let him talk to you like that. For bloody hell Shy, this your chance to leave him!” Marilyn yelped out. When Marilyn realized what she said, she regret it.

All you could hear was Florian’s fork drop on the plate.

Shy didn’t dare look up.

Florian was shocked by hearing that.

Shy wouldn’t do that.

Florian looked at Shy and knew that Marilyn was telling the truth. Shy always start scratching her left arm whenever she was nervous.

Everybody look at Florian, and they never seen him shock like how he was.

“ Shy, get her out this house.” Florian voice tremble with anger.

“ No I am not going to get out of this house. Cause if you remember, Shy holds 80 percent ownership of this house. Plus I wouldn’t dare leave my sister with you like this. You don’t love her! You think about that slut, Anna-Marie, whenever you are on top of my sister!” Marilyn scream with tears coming down her eyes.

All the men looked at Marilyn.

“ Yeah, I heard everyone and what they had to say! So please don’t test me!” Marilyn blurted out.

As everything has been thrown out there, Mr. Alexundru, whom was sitting by Shy, looked at her.

Shy was heart-broken.

She knew that things were bad, but not this bad.

Shy was holding in the tears, but she couldn’t hold them anymore.

She left the dining room, and went quickly up the stairs. Florian followed right behind her.

As Marilyn was trying to go and follow them, Ms. Anna Mae held her back.

“ You already done cause WWII to happen. We are not ready for a Hirshomia!” Ms. Anna Mae whispered with much authority.

Everybody just sat there to listen, what was going on upstairs.

All they heard was a slam of a door.

Florian walked back downstairs and left the house.

Nobody didn’t know what to do.

“ Well I guess that means we are not going to eat cake.” Oscar looked around.

Marilyn smacked upside the head and went back to drinking her wine.

1: Has he driven a car before? Yes. Should he be allowed to keep driving? No.

2: You know that “I’m washing me and my clothes!” vine? That’s Jane. It’s efficient.

3: If you gave him Cat Food he’d say it’s the best thing he’d ever tasted.

4: Before going to Poland to serve his time, he hired a sex worker. Her touch would be the last non-violent physical contact he would feel for the next 9 or so years.

6: He donates a healthy sum of his paychecks to wild animal and veteran charities.

7: Jane’s ‘friendship’ with Merasmus is the longest relationship he’s ever held.

67: Extreme Cold is a surefire way to trigger his PTSD. He doesn’t act all that different verbally, but he becomes entire still. Not even moving to shiver. It’s like he automatically transfers to late stage hypothermia.

68: Jane may have never played baseball, but he’s briefly been on a bowling team.

69: ayyyyy. Jane always returns the favor, if ya know what i mean.

70: I can’t tell you how much he can lift because I know nothing about fitness, but it’s a lot. And it’s impressive.

71: Jane practices unsafe workout routines! It’s a miracle lifting without a spotter hasn’t killed him yet.

72: He makes up for his genuine stupidity with Pure Luck.

73: He’ll kill, he’ll maim, but he won’t assault.

74: Jane’s favorite chocolate is Hershey’s.

75: He’s convinced Milton Hershey, founder of Hershey’s Chocolate, was a President despite him being alive in Jane’s lifetime.

76: Jane isn’t afraid of gay thoughts, never payed attention to period typical homophobia going on around him therefor never got a chance to develop it.

77: Jane would totally be the type of guy to see one of those Fireman Calendars and zone out staring at some dudes pecs and someone asks him if he’s okay and he’s like “I’m ogay.”

78: It’s a miracle, the first time Jane rocket jumped, his legs weren’t blown off. He was injured from the fall, surprised he’d gotten air at all. It was an accident and, while he’d never go to recreate it during his time in Poland, when he’d gotten hooked up to respawn and he saw all the high perches, the trick reoccured to him.

79: He loved Tavish so much

80: He was born in Tennessee, although he grew up in Wisconsin.

81: He’ll make odd little sounds - aborted sentences, thoughts lost to the depths of his brain. You can point them out and he’ll have no idea what you’re talking about.

82: He could have a possum mixed in with his raccoons and think it’s a raccoon.

83: He takes his Ranger Job very seriously. Just as serious as he does all his jobs. (So, you know. Not… very.) He is very enthusiastic at least!

84: He’s not empathetic at all, however energies at Large in a room really affect him. Chances are, if everyone’s in good favor, he’ll be really happy and relaxed - even if previously grumpy.

85: Jane can be really grumpy, that’s when his drill sergeant personality shines through - more often than not, he’s just a good natured loud patriot rolling with the punches of life.

86: He believes in the Judeo-Christian God, but also… believes the president is stronger than God? Sometimes? Depends on the situation. What is blasphemy haha?!?

87: Jane always wanted a puppy - meeting Bites, future Lieutenant, was like a dream come true to him.

88: Plus, he’d always liked raccoons - often responsible for tipping over dumpsters at his orphanage to help the little critters.

89: Jane can and will eat out of the garbage if not stopped.

90: He’s very passionate and strict about what he knows are fact (the issue is, facts can change pretty easily in jane’s head.

91: Good thing he has a helmet because Jane’s puppy-dog eyes are the sort that are clearly un-practiced and unintentional and thus made all the more soul-wrenching.

92: He’s always surprised by doorbells.

93: Jane would never smoke weed of his own volition, but under the influence, everything would make So Much Sense to him.

94: I’m talking the wildest stoner sayings, that always are so structurally sound it’s scary.

95: This man loves cashews.

96: “Mm crunchy things.. good.” - Shared thought by Jane and Lt. Bites.

97: Lt. Bites likes to curl up on Jane’s stomach when he’s sleeping. Jane often wakes up with his face covered in scratches and fur in his mouth. Much like the Soldier, the Lieutenant isn’t quite a sound sleeper.

98: Fuck, like, he loves cashews so much? The texture is amazing.

99: Jane has no illegitimate or legitimate children.

100: Jane loves his team almost as much as he loves America.

Synposis: (y/n)'s sudden sickness raises questions.

A/N: a follow up based prior to strong. Not my best because the ending was rushed sorry??

AUGUST 22 2017

PHILADELPHIA

Hushed bunk bed conversations. They were his favourite kind of conversations because they were sleepy and honest, nose to nose and squeezed into his tiny bunk with a soft fleece blanket she always brought whenever she visited, her bare thighs laced one between his and the other leg hooked over his knees as he had one arm wrapped around her. His fingers threaded gently into her soft hair, pouted lips slightly swollen from tired kisses and cheeks flushed lightly as she attempted to get comfortable, with mumbles of complaint about how uncomfortable his bed was and how the constant bumping and rocking from the big vehicle made her feel nauseous -- she always struggled to get settled in and accustomed to his tour bus life the first few days and she was only on day two since returning from a small hiatus to return home and see family for a week. He had opened the window slightly to let in some fresh air, the summer night breeze light and drifting through their little space through the thin curtain that cut them off from the rest of the team that was still in the ‘lounge’ area of the bus, an effort to ease the motion sickness that churned her stomach, sending her over the toilet for a good five minutes earlier; spewing out the contents of her dinner. Fresh air sometimes helped -- it was more a natural route which Shawn preferred instead of her relying on the pesky pills she always picked up at drugstores to keep it at bay, downing the bottle like it was gummy bear vitamins and made her drowsy. Despite her frowns and annoyed grumbles of disagreement, she also understood that it was better for her body.

His hand came from the back of her head to gently brush his thumb across her cheek bone, watching as her eyebrows knitted, eyelids twitching and lashes fluttering against the tops of her cheeks as her arm adjusted around his waist. “You feeling any better? Did you drink some water?” He quietly asked, earning a huff in reply.

“Not really.” She answered, hand blindly searching around behind him through the wrinkled sheets to grasp around and find her bottle of water that was still half full, holding it up so he could see it; his brown eyes darting over his shoulder slightly to look. “I’m still working through the bottle Geoff gave me earlier, my stomach just won’t take it.” She complained, her breathing quick little puffs from her mouth; sharp in and out, fanning out across his collarbones.

Shawn turned his attention back to her, sighing. “Oh, honey.” He softly breathed out, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “It’s really bad today, huh?” He murmured. She didn’t speak, just gave a slight nod and gave a slight frustrated whine that was barely audible.

“I can’t keep anything down but I’m hungry and I just feel disgusting.” She explained, a sympathetic look crossing Shawn’s features. “I feel like I smell like vomit, it’s all I taste still.”

“You don’t smell disgusting, baby.” He assured, pressing another kiss to her forehead, his cheek brushing hers as he leaned, arm reaching out from under the blanket to open the curtain a little more to let the breeze circulate the space a little better. He pressed a kiss to her temple, “Did you brush your teeth?”

“I did and the tooth paste didn’t help. Was too strong tasting.” She admitted.

He sighed and flopped back in place, his hand returning from the curtain to cup her cheek, feeling sorry for his poorly girlfriend whose face had since gained back some color from its nearly sheet white state earlier. “Do you want me to arrange something for early in the morning? You should head home early if you’re not feeling too great.” She simply hummed in response, eyes still shut. “Did you maybe pick up something from your brother?” He asked.

She shook her head, blue eyes fluttering open, still glassy. “No, he was fine, he hasn’t been sick in a while.” She answered, looking up at his face.

“Maybe you should go home, get checked out.” He stated, her head quickly shaking rather aggressively, looking on the verge of tears because Shawn knew, knew better than anybody, how terrified she was of doctors offices. Sighing, he raked his hands gently through her hair again at the back of her head, “Baby, you should. I know you don’t like their offices but-”

“Shawn, please.” She begged, weak and voice feeble. “You know…” She drifted and he nodded along.

“I know, I know. But you’ve been like this the past couple weeks, yeah?” He asked for confirmation, but confidently aware because of the texts he’d received from her about her condition; even suggesting a few times maybe she stay home and he would see her once he got home, but no, she’d been stubborn and insisted she come out for his last few shows before he went on break; needed to see him again. He’d caved because he knew she also only slept properly when she was with him lately. “You tried that flu medicine and it didn’t help, we did things your way, now it’s my way. We can wait a few days, I’ll go with you when we get home but you’re going.”

She wanted to argue but was silenced by his eyes, worried and tone stern, serious because she knew he was just as anxious -- it was a bigger deal than she made it out to be, they both suspected. It was more than some flu, it had to be, common sense -- her body was screaming the signs like a world war two air raid siren and she brushed it off as a stomach bug, an easier reason to come to terms with. She whispered out an okay and shut her eyes, his lips coming in contact with her forehead again. “Try and rest a bit, alright?”

He had crept from the bunk after managing to shift their position while she slept, earning a few soft tired protests with her eyes shut, trying to cling to him as tightly as her exhausted limbs could; eyebrows furrowing in her sleep and pouting when he slipped away. He had hovered by just in case to make sure he didn’t disturb her enough to wake her, and despite that he needed rest, he felt she needed it more than him -- he had watched her, observed the way she slept, hugging the pillow beneath her and curled up slightly, lashes tickling her cheeks and breathing softly, sighing. His gaze had flickered down to her abdomen, clothed by one of his shirts, lingering there a moment -- call it a father’s intuition, but something in him knew...knew there was just something…

“How’s she doing?” Andrew suddenly asked, leaning around the doorway of the living space, Geoff craning to see where Shawn still stood; his conversation with Teddy paused to acknowledge him, their voices soft as to not disturb the sleeping girl. Shawn gave her one last glance and then turned, shrugging and making his way towards everyone, his hands skimming the walls to steady himself. “She feeling any better?”

“Not too much, but a little. I think.” He answered, plopping down next to Geoff and leaning his head back. “She drank some water and I suggested maybe she head home early in the morning. Go get checked out but she’s insistent on sticking around for the last show for the next couple of weeks.” The youngest male explained, eyebrows furrowing. He could hear the fake wood creak under Andrew’s weight and the sound of rustling fabric when he sat down across from him, the four silent.

“She really should go see a doctor. It seems like more than a flu.” Geoff honestly piped up after a minute, looking over at Shawn who didn’t want to look because he knew what he meant -- it seemed like everybody around them knew and yet nobody wanted to say it aloud, because they were so young, still so naive and were still struggling to learn their place in the world. Much less who they were. What kind of parents would they be? Shawn wouldn’t deem himself as hopeless and he wanted kids one day, maybe when he was close to his thirties, but hell -- he didn’t want to completely come face to face with the fact that that day may come a lot sooner. Though the possibility stood and he didn’t feel ready.

“No, it’s just a flu.” Shawn lied, shaking his head and looking away from the ceiling of the bus to face his friend. “Her brother had it last week and she accidentally drank from his pop while they were out. It was just a matter of time.”

They stared back at one another silent for a moment before it was dropped and Geoff nodded, turning his attention back to Teddy who had a guitar in his lap; trying to sort of chords for a new song.

AUGUST 23 2017

BOSTON

He almost got caught up in the strap of his guitar and tripped, she saw it. It brought a small smile to her face, watching as he managed to move it out of the way before he could fall, prevent an inevitable doom that would probably break the guitar strapped around him as he headed towards the edge of the stage, the mic being held up momentarily to allow the crowd to sing, a wide smile on his face. He was incredible at what he did -- so passionate about what he did and it was only one of the many things she had come to love and admire most about him. How hard he worked and yet still remained so genuine and sweet, even when he was beyond stressed and even exhausted.

Shawn had been up late because of her --up well past 3 A.M. because she had woken up to nausea again and spent a good forty minutes holding back her hair as she hunched over the toilet. Opened the window to get the smell of vomit out of the his and made sure she drank some water and ate a little something, just so she at least had something in her stomach before she went to back to bed and tried to get some rest. She could feel him still shifting around and could feel his eyes on her, knew he was nowhere near tired because he was too worried to sleep. So she could only imagine how exhausted he was right now, knew his showtime adrenaline would konk out the minute he got in the car. She listened as the song final closed out and he quickly made his way off the stage, buzzing with excitement and broadly smiling as he made his way down the stairs, handing Geoff his guitar as he was then handed a towel to wipe his face. She stood back to take in the very sight of him, observed the way his eyes lit up as the whole group commented how good he had done out there and joking around; using the towel to playfully whip his friends as they all nudged each other.

(Y/N) kept her hands by her waist as she waited, allowing him his moment and leaning against the wall as she was suddenly hit by a pang of nausea. She took a deep breath just as his gaze turned towards her and he immediately pushed his way through his team to come greet her, arms wrapping around her midsection to pull her into a hug that he briefly lifted her during. She must have made more a gagging sound than a surprised grunt because he suddenly set her down and released her, eyes wide. “Sorry. You’re not feeling any better, are you?” He asked.

She sheepishly smiled, shrugging. “I'm okay. Not all there but...a little better.” She answered.

“Can someone grab me a water?” He asked, glancing over his shoulder as one of the girls nodded and rushed off to grab one. He looked back and cupped her face, “Here, let's get you back on the bus. Have some of that peppermint leaf tea, yeah?”

She sighed. “Shawn, I'm fine.”

He retrieved the water bottle that was handed to him soon, cracking it open and bringing it to her lips for a small sip which she reluctantly took. “Shawn! We still on for dinner with the team?” both teenagers had turned to spot Teddy, speaking in unison.

“No.”

“Yes.”

Shawn looked down at her, his voice stern as he repeated himself. “No. We're heading home early, you need to rest.” He explained.

Her eyebrows furrowed. “Yeah, I need to rest. Go spend time with your team, Shawn, I'll be fine.” she said gently nudging him towards his friends and letting out a deep breath as she then closed her eyes, “I'll be on the bus, don't worry about me. I'll see you later. Go have fun.” she said opening her eyes. Shawn evidently hesitated, an uncertain look in his eyes as he eyed her, contemplating it before she nudged him again.

“Shawn? You coming?”

With a stutter, he glanced back. “Uh, yeah just…” he drifted, looking back at her. “You sure you're okay?”

She covered her mouth as she burped and nodded. “I'm good, I just need res-...” she drifted, suddenly hunching over slightly and vomiting up a mouthful of lunches contents onto the floor between them and some on his shoes. The group was startled as Shawn grabbed her hair to hold it back with a yelp of ‘whoa, shit.’

“(Y/N), hey.” Andrew suddenly piped up as she weakly clutched onto Shawn, be if led aside from the spot while Andrew hurried over with a napkin for her as she was lowered to sit down in a nearby chair. “you okay?” He asked, crouching in front of her while Shawn rubbed her back soothingly.

“Uh…” she stammered, shaking her head and glancing over at Shawn who wearily eyed her. “No. I think something is wrong, guys…” she quietly answered, glancing away to look at Andrew again.

Aurora has a muggle for a father and witch for a mother, and her life before Beauxbatons was extremely normal, if not very isolated. Her mother and father were not wealthy, nor did they have any intention of gaining wealth. They did not want notoriety, they did not want recognition. They just wanted to live a happy, simple life, with their amazing daughter. She knew she had magic in her bones, but her mother and father fought heavily to maintain as normal of a childhood as they could for their little girl, their beautiful baby girl with her soft smiles and tinkling giggles. Stepping into Beauxbatons for the first time was an experience unlike anything else, with its flagrant shows of opulence and wealth. The silk robes that she wore felt simply amazing, and she felt so small. She didn’t like feeling small.

She found school easy, and flying easier. She loved charms and she loved spells, and dueling was amazing, but she also loved racing through the skies. Difficult things weren’t worth the effort. She knew what she was good at, and she loved what she was good at, so what was the point in trying things that were far too difficult? Aurora had always been this weird dichotomous mix of ambitious and lazy, a mix of someone who works hard and someone who would rather not work at all. Some could say that she worked for what she got, and others could say that she got everything handed to her, and both would be true. On quiet nights, when she was in bed with all the lights off, Aurora would thank every being, every deity out there for each opportunity that fell into her lap. And then she would get up the next day, and play her best, do the showiest moves on the pitch. She would talk to interviewers, charming them with her smile and wit. She would go to parties, interacting with everyone, making friends with the people who were important and the people who were good. Because luck has carried her this far, but luck may not carry her to the end. She learned long ago that if you’re a nobody, you don’t get a voice— so she needs to be somebody, even when the luck fades away.

Becoming a pro-Quidditch player wasn’t how she expected her life to go, but she took it in stride. Playing for the Montrose Magpies had been an experience, and the thrill she got while speeding through the air, a Quaffle under her arm was something that she loved. No. She adored it. Leaving the Magpies and joined Puddlemere United was frustrating. Aurora had found her niche, found what worked for her, and she hated having to tweak that, having to change that for this new team that she wasn’t even sure she would like. The idea for Wood’s Angels came at the perfect time, though, and it allowed for her to step into the spotlight once more, while also providing a great role model for young girls, something she valued.

Aurora is a very extroverted person, who is willing to make friends with anybody and everybody, even the people she doesn’t like. She doesn’t really want to give the United bad press, nor does she want to sever any connections before they could be fostered, so being nice is a given, in her eyes. With that said, she doesn’t want to be friends with people that she genuinely doesn’t like. That’s just stupid, and far too much effort. She’s the person whose laughter draws the attention and smiles of everybody around her. She’s likeable, but she can be lazy and she can find it hard to put effort into things that aren’t fun. Luckily for her, she finds Quidditch fun.

Headcanons:

Aurora would always cherish the memories she made at Beauxbatons, but coming home for the summers was sobering. One of her neighbors was sick, and each time she saw him that glow of life in his eyes grew dimmer and dimmer. He was younger than her, for god’s sake, and he was already gone. It hurt her heart, and every summer she came back she would remind herself how incredibly lucky she has been, to live the way she has. And it hurt, to see him lose his vibrant energy, the thing that made him so uniquely him. She had babysat him once, when his days were still filled with color and laughter and delight. By the time she had graduated Beauxbatons, he was nothing but a memory, a name on a gravestone. When she joined Puddlemere, she heard from someone (who knew someone, who knew someone else, who knew someone else’s friend—) that St. Mungo’s had a children’s section. The first time, she went alone, spending as much time as she could there. Then, she didn’t go back for a month. But she forced herself to make a habit out of it, because it wasn’t about her. It was about those kids.

She loves expensive things, but she also loves simple things. She may adore those Pierre Hermé macarons, but, nothing could beat a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie.

She wasn’t bullied at school, per se, but sometimes people could be mean, making comments about who she was, where she was from. After all, she wasn’t from Paris. She was from a little town in Portugal, a place that nobody knew. Nothing could be done, because it was one voice against many others.

She can speak English, Portuguese, some French, and very basic Spanish. She can read Portuguese, English, and some Spanish, and even less French. Aurora picked up words and phrases in French in Beauxbatons, and she can answer reporters. Her mother speaks Portuguese, so that’s where Portuguese comes from. Her first language, however, is English.

She is up to date with muggle things, because honestly, she loves her iPhone because she doesn’t need to leave bed unless she has to.

Okay so I’ve just decided to talk about each episode individually since so much happens in them and I have a lot of things to say that nobody cares about ANYWAY MOVING ON here you go!

Episode 14: That’s The Idea, Ochaco

•Can we talk about how Todoroki had the prettiest animation in the intro please???

•Aizawa shows up like I LIVED BITCH we love one grumpy crippled old man (reminds me of this English teacher I had who showed up to class after breaking 3 ribs and couldn’t laugh or move and was in visible pain while teaching, Professor Saunders if you ever see this please just take a day off my dude)
