This is order for my regular customer. She sent me a photo of a guy in a hoodie with this image, and my friend and I did this great job together.

Outfit:

for people in the doll community who know more about Bratz:

I found three unopened, OG boxes bratzillaz dolls (two Cloettas and one Jade) - they are absolutely stunning

how much of a crime would it be if I got my hands on them and at some point used them for custom work? I've never owned Bratz dolls for myself, only one second hand doll that was all beat up and purchased for custom work, but I do feel bad just thinking about cracking the packaging open

if you have some history around the line and the way these dolls are now seen in collector/ooak world, please let me know

I used a dress from the Lorna doll I used for my fishsona, since I thought it was rather befitting of my style, and then I just repained some Descendants boots I had left from my first doll I bought

My first time doing up a Ever After High doll, super fun!!

The body blushing got. Fucked up because some shit happened -- so I just kinda gave up on trying to fix it.

I may swap her body out with another one if I ever find one so I can give it the proper love it deserves

Auran Dulce: Doll Customization

Surprise! You guys remember my nutcracker character Auran, right? Well I’ve been dreaming of making him as a doll for a long time, so I finally buckled down and did it. So now, allow me to share the photos while I gush about his process!

At the end of July, my family went on a trip to my grandparents’ house in the middle of nowhere to check up on it, since they can’t leave quarantine due to where they live in every season that isn’t summer, and we stayed for a little bit. There was hiking, swimming, building fires, etc, and it was a much-needed change of scenery. I brought Auran along to photograph here, since this location is actually want inspired Marie’s house in his story. I knew if there was anywhere to photograph him, it was here.

Here he is on the fire pit my great grandfather built by hand. Auran was definitely one of the most ambitious dolls I’ve tackled. For one, he’s only my third male doll next to Sammy and Sass, and he’s the first doll I’ve modded the face for. I had to sculpt his nose and then paint is head to match his body. His head originally comes from Invisibilly from Monster High.

I actually had to order a special body for him so I could get his dancing poses to work right. He’s made with an Obitsu male body, which thankfully I have some sewing patterns for. He can do all sorts of things, though the clothes do limit how much he can move. I have to say, I’m impressed with my sewing abilities this time around. The collar still isn’t quite what I want, but I can revisit that in a year or two. For now, I’m just happy that I sewed his outfit well, especially his pants. I suck at sewing pants. I also tackled my fear of oven bake clay to make the bottoms of his shoes and epaulets (those frilly things on his shoulders). I think I wanna sculpt more with that sculpey in the future, it was so much fun and so much more forgiving than I expected.

And be surprised, Auran is actually the second doll from his world that I’ve made. The first is Amaryllis here, a dona de fuera that belongs to the sugar plum fairy’s court. You can’t see it here, but she got a little damaged while traveling, there’s a huge scratch under her hair that I have no idea how to patch. Hopefully I can fix it.

I took him all over the place while I was in the yard, and honestly, his photo shoot was fun and frustrating. I’m glad I had my laptop there to edit as I went, and few days to figure out what I wanted, because oh boy was I struggling to get it right at first. I actually have about 31 retouched photos of him, which is more than the usual 10 I get for my dolls, so you can see he’s pretty special. XD He’s been resting on my desk ever since I got back, and I’m really eager to make more of his friends one of these days, once I get my collab dolls out of the way. I have four I need to finish, three of which have deadlines coming up. But for now, I’m content with him, and I’m really glad I made him. This is the doll I will be using for Gwen/Lucky Girl.

I bought it for about $9 usd at the grocery store right next to my job. It lacks the complex articulation of other dolls so unfortunately I won't be able to replicate some of the iconic fight scenes. However it does have the exact same shade of red and length.

Right now I'm washing her off and giving her a cowash using Mane n Tail since I don't have fabric softener on hand. Later I will take her measurements and hopefully get her clothes pattern. 😁

Just a lil bit irritated that my post that I made while half asleep as a light hearted thing meant to appeal to me and one friend ended up becoming ppl being like “actually you’re wrong and should listen to is cause you dared to say repaint instead of customization” like I’m genuinely sorry, prommy I won’t make more doll repain posts and tag it where you lot can find it.

In fact it's been a while since I'm questionning myself on one point, to repain a doll, but I tried once and I messed up my poor Cleo de Nile that I needed to turn in one of my oc's. Now I would like to repaint one of my Apple White's dolls. BUT ! I'm really scared to mess up her beautiful face ;-; (cause Apple White skin fit with my Dollie's skin XD)

BUT I’m ont good at repainting dolls DX

And my EAH hairs dolls are sticky, I was wondering if I should removs their elastics.

This one is my first ever Disney Animators repaint – the doll was ordered by US-based cosplayer as a part of her this year’s ComicCon creation.

I am hoping to see more photos of my little one around the web after the event!

The doll was repained exclusively with acrylics for more defined features and this pop of color paints can give.

I wanted her to be obviously cartoon-inspired character, but at the same time not in manga drawing style. Disney Animator dolls have very defined eye sockets, so it owuldn’t look nice to leave them unpainted just for the sake of recreating manga-style eye shape.

All the other pieces: shoes, hat, dress & accessories and the wig were also created by me. The hat was especially time-consuming piece – made with worbla, covered with gauze, and then several [close to 15 probably] layers of white paint to resemble look of these popular in mid-century summer hats worn by small children [think Anne from the Green Gables style].

Pokemon: Indigo League. Sabrina. This one is my first ever Disney Animators repaint - the doll was ordered by US-based cosplayer as a part of her this year's ComicCon creation.
