So the trans Rochelle headcanons are great but let’s not forget she also has a long distance boyfriend too (Garrott DuRoque) and when seeing her again he recognizes her immediately so he must’ve known and has clearly supported her throughout her transition and when she is revealed to be a ghoul to the main ghouls it’s clear she’s well into her transition.

I’d like to think when she was still in Scaris he’d make and help Rochelle style clothes to be flattering on her and very gender affirming even early into her transition and his hopeless romanticism and creativity with fashion combined made them even closer if even possible.

Before he was trapped by madame ghostier, trans ghouls and mansters would go to him or follow him on social media to get tips/clothing from him and he became big in the trans monster community for his fashion.

Outside of headcanons looking at him imo his design feels kinda like a mess like it’s probably just his scarf and hair colour combo but it just feels so bad- like I get the references shown on his wiki where they style came from but like the teams choices for colours felt weird to look at

So out of curiosity I went to the Monster High Wiki to find out how many dolls the Mansters have gotten.

Results are, interesting.

Deuce Gorgon : 6. You'd expect Cleo's boyfriend and the 6th person in the Theme song to have more.

Clawd Wolf : 6. Same as Deuce. But again, he's dating Draculaura and she has the most dolls out of the main Cast. So why does Clawd have to settle with 6?

Heath Burns : 2. This is just dissapointing.

Jackson Jekyll : 4. Okay, what about Holt?

Holt Hyde : 2... Why does Jackson get 2 more? Shouldn't they have an equal amount? And whose idea was it to never make a doll Half Jackson-Half Holt?! That would've been a perfect comic-con exclusive!

Gil Webber : 4. Though I know for some of you that's 4 too much.

Invisi-Billy : 2. What's weird is that one of them is in a random 5 pack with Draculaura, Clawdeen, Spectra and Gigi. Not even a two pack with Scarah?

Garrot Du Roque : 1. Kinda sad. They could have made a lot more considering he's a fashion designer.

Finnegan Wake : 1. Okay so he was the winner of doll vote and he earned it. Probably the most unique doll out of them all.

Neightan Rot : 1. Just like the other hybrids. Sad really, they could've done a lot more with all 4 of them.

Hexiciah Steam : 1. Kinda cool that he actually got one. And a comic-con exclusive two pack with Robecca at that.

Hoodude Voodoo : 1. Love that he's just a ragdoll. Another comic-con exclusive. Seems fitting. Also comes with Scarah.

Manny Taur : 1. Another comic-con exclusive. This time in a two pack with Iris.

Kieran Valentine : 1. Say it with me folks, "comic-con exclusive two pack" with Whisp. And from the looks of his diary, it wouldn't surprise if he was planned for another two pack with Spelldon Cauldronello. But of course, corporations are homophobic so we don't even get to see what Spelldon would've looked like.

Sloman "Slo-Mo" Mortavitch : 3. I'm sorry what?! Why does Slo-Mo get 3 dolls?! Heath only got 2! But Slo-Mo gets 3?!?

Johnny Spirit : 0. I wanna sue. This is illegal. He has nothing! Nada! Zilch! This is unacceptable. Not even a comic-con exclusive two pack with Operetta. Honestly any kind of two pack with Operetta would have been perfect! But no. Instead we get 3 Slo-Mo's.

Words can't really describe how disappointed and equally angry and disgusted I am by this collab. Not only did this collab come out of nowhere and literally NO ONE asked for it to happen but it's just a glaring reminder that Mattel is now viewing G1 Monster High  through a cash cow lense and is milking money out of exclusively G1 fans because they know the G1 generation are all grown up and have adult money to spend so why not churn out G1 dolls with a bigger price tag more each time? and so they give us this mediocre soulless collab that does not capture the spirit of Monster High in anyway. Meanwhile the MH fans that were willing to shell out $5 dollars for the oh so special Fang Club that was supposed to have exclusive dolls and was good for the whole year? well the year is almost over and we only got ONE doll just one and the year is almost over nevermind that the membership didn't help anyone get ahead on other Mattel Creations MH drops despite them promising members get first access to things not yet made available to the public.

Now onto the collaboration dolls themselves this collab features four brand new characters which I think could have been executed so much better and this was not the line to launch them in. For one the dolls to me all look like some odd variation of Frankie at first glance because of them all having the same green skin tone but then when you look at them closely they all look like reused molds of Lagoona, Frankie, Rochelle, and Bloodgood but now they're green. I think if these are a new set of ghoulebrities going to be implemented in MH they should have introduced them in G3 but I'm pretty sure these are just throw away characters made for the collab which begs the question why didn't they use already established characters with an interest in fashion?! I don't think a brand like MH should be making cash grab collabs with fashion brands but if they did I think they should have chosen different characters that represent the MH brand.

This fashion collab NEEDED Clawdeen Wolf considering she is the aspiring fashion designer ffs this would have meant everything to her character to represent MH and if they had to have a "new" show stopping character to hype this collab this was their chance to debut a Moanatella Ghostier doll aka the unrivaled fashion designer of Scaris and for the other two dolls I would probably pick Garrot du Roque (yes a boy doll) and Rochelle Goyle. I'm mostly just so so angry because this collab just spells doom to me for the future of G1 MH's dolls or content because it's clear Mattel only cares about money and milking fans with nostalgia bait and half assed projects with the Monster High label slapped on them and not about making creations under the MH name that are actually made with passion and that fans will love.

Off White Raven Rhapsody Part 1 of 2

I just spent waaaaay too much on a doll; -but I really didn’t buy too many Skullectors last year, so I’ll say that it evens out.- To date, this is the most I’ve ever spent on a doll. Monster High really pulls me in with their new and interesting monster head sculpts….always has and always will….so I bit the bullet and bought her. I didn’t take a photo of her box, but it is a very heavy duty box. I feel like a lot of budget went into that damn box too as it uses really thick paperboard, has four interlocking (like a much bigger version of paper board jewelry boxes) pieces, and four acrylic pieces. I am not an inbox collector, so this is just some very expensive trash to me. -I can’t even recycle the thick paperboard here locally-

Anyways, let’s see if some of my money went to the doll. -I know the lion’s share of expense is due to the Off-White brand, blah blah-

I wanted to compare her to her MH gargoyle brethren: Create a Monster Gargoyle (in a Granite City High jumpsuit I started to make him, but never finished), Garrott du Roque, and Rochelle Goyle. She seems a little more radioactive colored than the other gargoyles. Maybe she was carved out of uranocircite or metatorbernite instead of granite…. It does bother me that she doesn’t have any speckled skin. She was an expensive doll, why not make her skin the same “off-white” color and throw in some speckles! She also did not make her with clawed hands, which is very strange because Skullectors put that shit on everything. Well, let’s take a closer look at the thing I mainly bought her for. Her face!! Her face is so pretty….

Let’s compare her face sculpt and Rochelle’s.

I am very certain that the face part of the head is the same. The nose is identical, they both have the “worried bumps” in the middle of their foreheads, and the jawline looks the same. Rochelle’s lips are fully painted in, while Raven’s look under painted (especially on her upper lip). Their eyes have varying styles. Rochelle’s eyes have thicker lower lines, larger pupils and irises, and much longer eyelashes (ghoul is using the same mascara Yuma). Raven’s eye paint looks much more crisp, seem to fit the mold better, and a bit more detailed (her make-up uses several more colors than Rochelle’s). Raven’s eyebrows look a bit pixelated though.

Yup, their profiles look pretty darn similar. Now her HORNS! YESSSSSS! Look at those detailed horn ridges.

They’re detailed all the way around too.

Her painted scalp could be a bit better. You can also see that her horns are separate pieces.

Now, lets look at their “ears.”

Rochelle doesn’t have ears in the traditional spot.

Her ears are very similar to Create a Monster, but her ear tip is a lot more rounded and the inverted scalloped edge is a lot deeper too.

Garrett’s ear is actually more detailed than either of them (there is more detail on the tip of the ear and the base of the ear). The veins are much more prominent too.

Now let’s look at their wings!!

Raven’s are the BIGGEST by far. Even the shape is completely different (I thought maybe it was a bigger version of Rochelle’s but looks like it’s a completely different mold).

Rochelle’s and Creat a Monster both have two separate wings, and a lot texture to their wings. Garrote has a smoother texture and is only one piece -THAT NEVER STAYS IN- Raven’s wings actually does stay in REALLY well.

The front has veins, tons of cracks (that off white color that doesn’t like to be photographed), and lightly translucent. ….I wonder if they will reuse this mold in some aspect for Ru Paul’s dragon MH doll??

Yup, no veins on the back. I wonder how it will look if I add a light wash to those cracks…

She also has these little horns on the top of her wings. Mine had some scratched off paint…yay…also, the horns don’t look cleanly sculpted (especially compared to her horns).

Yeah, her horns look a lot more defined. Also, this is as far down as her arms go at the shoulder…

Also, her arm joint on her left arm is messed up. She can bend it but it really did not want to turn around.

Well, I guess I can look at her expensive branded clothes. In Part 2!

This is Stony du Roque, my friend's gargoyle for our Monster High RPG. He's Garrot's cousing and even though he is a very big scary-looking guy, he is truly a very kind and loving person, with a soft spot for anything beautiful.

His little pet is a basilisk called Cebolisco and Stony was the only one able to adopt him, since he was the only one not affected by the creature's deadly poison.

I wasn't sure on how to draw a muscular body on this artstyle, so i used Manny as a base. I think it's kinda giving Total Drama but i'll get over it.

I picked up this Garrot with a ‘broken’ foot for about five bucks and pretty quickly realised nothing was actually broken- someone had just made a herculean effort to pull his foot off. With some hot water and some extreme yoga, it popped back in, and it all went very nearly back together, with a slight gap left. I��m pleased with it, tbh- if you didn’t know, you wouldn’t really be able to spot he’d had any damage.

I made him an outfit- jeans, top and stained-glass jacket- and lent him some wings from a Dragon Girl CAM. I’m really happy with him, I think he might be my new favourite Manster. (Sorry, Mo.)

people really underestimate how dangerous doll collecting is as a hobby

for example, having washed some very small doll clothes/accessories and hung them to dry just above where my backpack happens to live on the floor, i set off for the post office this morning
