My redneck neighbor Doug's interpretations on various 'Bad Batch' characters: Side Character Edition!
I'm chuffed that everyone thinks my neighbor Doug is funny: he really is a gem. I had no idea we'd bond over Star Wars and crappy weather, but here we are.
Naturally, I had to bother him about other characters that showed up on The Bad Batch, so, here we go!
Phee Genoa: Ah-ha, that there’s Church Lady. You know her, she’s got a big square in her pocketbook and you don’t know if it’s pound cake or a brick, because the Lord saves but He can’t help you in the alley when you’re in Treme and the streetlights just turned on. She has two ex-husbands who are both preachers and they turned to Jesus because they are so scared of Church Lady in court.
(So I guess he’s saying Phee has raw WHO DAT energy, for my Saints fans out there)
Cid: Looking at this fat lizard bitch makes me hungry. I call that one Houma-BBQ because I’m guessing we could feed a whole parish fire station based on the size of her tail. I wish she’d shut up, she reminds me of my mother-in-law.
Cad Bane: Homeboy looks like a Sesame Street character who teaches Big Bird about concealed carry laws. I call him Gun Safety Muppet. I don’t like him because he shot my Wife and I’s Boyfriend on the other show and his robot needs to be tossed into a wood chipper.
(“I’m not gay, but Jenny and I…well, we would make an exception to that man. You ever see ‘Deadwood’? Man is fine. I’m not GAY.”)
Fennec Shand: That’s The Chick that’s in Everything. She was on ER and Boba Fett and I think a Marvel show too? I like her. Hope she kills Gun Safety Muppet and hurls his blue ass into a dumpster.
Howzer: That’s my niece’s boyfriend, Jorge. We all love Jorge, nice guy, owns an auto repair shop and always remembers plates and napkins for the cookouts after church.
Gregor: Jorge’s cousin, Manny. Met him once at Christmas in Miami, nice guy, only drinks brown liquor and insists everyone arm wrestle him. But he’s got a good job as a PE teacher, we respect education, come on now.
The Martez Sisters: Aw, man, it’s Jorge’s Unemployed Sisters. I hate it when they show up for Christmas and get into fights with my momma.
(“Doug, you know they’re not related to the clones at all, right?” “Says who?” “The PLOT?” “Eh, they’ll change it, just watch.”)
Mayday: Aw, I liked this guy so much! That’s Sassy Park Ranger, he’s the type that gives you your camping permits, warns you about the bears, and then is all disappointed when you don’t properly stow your food and the bears destroy the campsite. I need to go back to Little River Canyon, that place was pretty.
Lt. Nolan: THAT STUPID BLOND JACKASS. (Doug was so enraged by the guy he had nothing else to add. Damn.)
Senator Chuchi: Why does this lady make me want a blue slushie? I’ll call her the Sonic Special. They need more Sonics here in the north, they really do.
Cody: That’s Obi-Wan’s Boyfriend, he’s sad all the time. We know why. (Confirmed that Doug is a Codywan shipper and I don’t know what to do about that)
Royce Hemlock: Is that Jimmy Neutron after he grew up and became one of those guys that’s on the internet all the time writing creepy things? It’s Jimmy-the-Scientist. He looks like the type of person dogs get weird around.
Rex: That's Rex. He's a king. Respect him.

Clonetober #23 212th OVERWHELMED
CC-2224 aka “Commander Cody” has been SO BUSY LATELY since Chancellor Palpatine was arrested and Bail Organa is now the Chancellor. Cody is NOT the NEW Senator for KAMINO. Fox is the new Senator with his Wife Senator Riyo Chuchi helping him. If you are wondering WHY he’s been SO BUSY LATELY is because…….You will find out when you read my story. I’m probably going to throw you guys WAY OFF on what I’m going to tell you.
Here are some few things that have or had been going on since Palpatine has been arrested.
Rex and Ahsoka got married.
He and Obi Wan got married.
Waxer and Boil adopted Numa.
Stopped Waxer from adopting more kids.
Stopped Waxer from adopting ANOTHER Massiff (Waxer, Boil, and Numa have 3 already)
Sometimes babysits Numa while Waxer and Boil go on dates.
Hates when Anakin randomly drops off the TWINS (Luke and Leia) without letting him know that he is watching them.
LOVES helping Rex with Watching Rex and Ahsoka TWINS (Clonetober Story #21 Clones and Their Jedi(s) 9/10 part 1-3) Jasmine and Jasper.
Helps Fox on whatever Fox doesn’t want to do (what great brother. NOT)
Picks up Obi Wan’s Lightsaber every day.
Sometimes helps Rex get Fives and Hardcase out of trouble.
Makes Obi Wan Tea everyday in the morning because they are now MARRIED!
Makes sure that his Brothers in the 212th are doing the things that they were assigned to do.
Helps Obi Wan calm down whenever Obi Wan is with ANAKIN (that’s EVERYDAY)
Takes a 5 MINUTES SHOWER because he’s usually the last Clone to take a SHOWER after he is done with all the things he did that day. He does get a longer shower whenever he is at home with Obi Wan and NOT at the base or on one of the ships.
Gets 10 MINUTES of sleep when he is at the base or on one of the ships. When he is home with Obi Wan, he will sleep for 6 HOURS or even longer. The longest time he slept was from 8:00 pm to 9:10 am. (Obi Wan put a sleeping pill in Cody’s tea that day so he can get some rest. Cody was GRATEFUL that Obi Wan did that and wasn’t mad at him.)
Helps Kix get OBI WAN into the Medical Room whenever Obi Wan is sick or injured.
Those things I listed are things he basically does EVERYDAY. Obi Wan wanted to see his HUSBAND Cody to get some rest. He told Rex and Fox that they will be taking a weekend vacation which Rex and Fox agreed that Cody DESPERATELY NEEDS one NOW! Cody had NO clue that Obi Wan did this for him until he woke up in a hotel with Obi Wan laying in bed with him. Cody woke up Obi Wan and gave him a kiss on the lips telling him Good Morning and he loves him. Obi Wan did the same thing to Cody then Obi Wan got out of bed to get dressed so he could bring up some Breakfast from the lobby. Cody did the same thing as well.
Once they got their Breakfast, Cody asked Obi Wan how they got here. Obi Wan told him that he put a sleeping pill in his tea before he went to bed and that Wolffe, Fox, and Rex helped carry you here. He also told Cody that they made people think that both Cody and Obi Wan were BOTH drunk which Obi Wan had Kix give him an anesthesia shot to make him look drowsy because…..Obi Wan wasn't good at acting drunk. So…….yeah. Cody smiled and gave his Husband a kiss. After they were done eating breakfast, they went back to their hotel room to get some things as they went out shopping.
Cody and Obi Wan went out to a couple of stores to get Cody some new comfortable clothes so whenever he was home with Obi Wan, some new clothes when they go to church, swimsuits so they could wear when they go back to the hotel to swim in the pool or relax in the hot tub, and a grocery store to get so food for a picnic later today. As they were shopping, Obi Wan felt a little bit sick that he would go to the bathroom a couple times while they were shopping. Cody thought that it must have been something he ate at the mall’s food court. Cody told Obi Wan that should head back to the hotel and check out even though Obi Wan reserved 4 days and told Cody he was fine but Cody told Obi Wan no as he took Obi Wan back to the hotel to get all their stuff and headed home. Obi Wan was embarrassed that he kept on throwing up but he couldn’t help it because…….well you will know soon and why THIS STORY will confuse you.
Once they were home, Cody was shocked to see a lot of baby items in the living room. Cody thought it was a prank that Fives, Hardcase, Anakin, and Wrecker did while they were away. Cody was about to call Rex on his Holopad when Obi Wan told him why there was BABY ITEMS in the living room. He told Cody to sit down and told him to stay there then he grabbed the Holopad. Cody was confused but did what he was told. After a few minutes of waiting for Obi Wan to come back, he got up and went to their bedroom to see what Obi Wan was doing. When he got there, he saw that Obi Wan was in the BATHROOM throwing up. After Obi Wan was done throwing up, he carried Obi Wan and put him in the bed and had put a chair next to him with a trash can for him to throw up in. Cody was about to leave when Obi Wan told him that he wanted to tell him something before he left. Cody was confused but did what he was told.
After Obi Wan told him that, he told Cody that he had a gift he wanted to give him. Cody was confused because it wasn’t his Birthday or their Wedding Anniversary. Cody was about to ask Obi Wan but he didn’t because Obi Wan was pointing at a box that was on the bed where Cody slept. Cody took the box as he removed the trash can on the chair and started to open it. Cody was confused because there were 3 PREGNANCY TESTS in the box. Cody looked at each one and saw that ALL 3 of them had 2 PINK LINES on them. Cody asked Obi Wan if he was PREGNANT. Obi Wan nodded with a smile but his smile turned into a sad look. He was worried that Cody didn’t want Obi Wan to be PREGNANT but he was wrong. Cody was SO HAPPY that they were going to have a BABY. Cody gave Obi Wan a kiss on his forehead. Both of them were crying with joy. Obi Wan was happy that Cody wasn’t mad at him. Cody NOW FINALLY KNEW why Obi Wan was throwing up a lot because he was pregnant!
Now this is going to be confusing because…..I will be WRITING 2 other stories that will be about Obi Wan being PREGNANT. Let’s just say in this Story that it’s March 19 and that his due date is December 24. The 2nd one will be when Cody finds out that Obi Wan is PREGNANT when Obi Wan gives him a gift at Christmas with a Pregnancy Test that has 2 PINK LINES on it and the 3rd one is where Obi Wan finds out his PREGNANT but doesn’t tell Cody yet. So……yeah. That's why I might confuse you guys but those 2 stories will be written after I finish my Clonetober Stories.

In the setting of my novel, Elmarean is sort of the equivalent of Latin in the European Middle Ages and Renaissance: a scholarly lingua franca, particularly in the domain of magical studies. (Magicians used to be the main guardians of literacy, as the Church was in our world.)
It was, originally, a linguistic isolate, spoken by the Elmar people in the mountain range that separates the continents of Mintrallina and Liyédaris. (They didn’t originate from there, but from a far-away place called Meridomi further south, from which they were exiled even longer ago - but they stayed isolated and so did their language.) For a very long time, Elmars were the only people on the planet who could use magic, so they had a very avanced civilisation and a lot of wise people who specialised in the study of magic and wrote lots of books about it.
Then, about five hundred years before the events of my Forever Unfinished Novel, a series of dramatical events made magic spread through the entire planet. For the first time, Elmars started to leave their little isolated kingdom and moved to various other places so they could share their knowledge and study the new magical manifestations. Often, they brought literacy to people that didn’t have much use for it beforehand, which is how Elmarean came to be used as the main language for international scholarly communication.
Grammatically, it is an agglutinating language, a bit like Finnish or Turkish: various affixes get attached to root words to create different meanings. For example, from the verb root -el- “to love”, you can form ressanelmumeli, “I have always loved a lot”. It is not a gendered language, though it has different pronouns for human, non-human animate and inanimate. Nouns have two cases (nominative and genitive), three numbers (singular, plural and collective) and can be either definite (”the man”), indefinite (”a man”) or general (”man”). Here is, for example, the declension of the word lum, “flower” :
Nominative singular : lum flower, lumis the flower, lumem/lumaiem a flower
Nominative plural : lumeya flowers, lumeyas the flowers, lumeyam some flowers
Nominative collective: lumen all flowers
Genitive singular : luma of (the) flower, lumisa of the flower, lumema/lumaiema of a flower
Genitive plural : lumeyam of flowers, lumeyasa of the flowers, lumeyama of some flowers
Genitive collective : luman of all flowers
(As, practically, there is very little difference between general plural and collective, the former is practically never used.)
There is a mild form of vocalic harmony that causes some words to get vowel changes in some cases: eg neam “man” but neimis “the man”.
As for the alphabet, here it is in its classical form:
It evolved, over a couple thousand years, from an older script that seems to have been invented by a single person (although attribution to legendary king Asmaren Ley is doubtful) since it is very logically structured:
Its angular form was adapted for engraving on stone. Over the centuries it acquired new, more rounded forms, and, as the language itself and its sounds changed, it evolved into the classic script:
And that’s it for an Elmarean primer! Nowadays the language itself is no longer spoken and its use as an international lingua franca has faded, though it is still one of the official languages of the International Committee of States based in Leal Meriman (itself an Elmarean name: “city of all peoples”). But in the hilly country of Revia, situated where old Elmaria used to be, they still speak two languages directly descended from it: the official language, Higher Speech, and the commonly used Lower Speech.
