Today me and Gregory dropped anchor, we arrived at a place called ''Satis House'' which Gregory said he would spend time there with some acquaintances to help them take care of the house, I ended up deciding to spend the night there and explore that humble British town, I met a kind boy named Herbet, he was the only tolerable one there, I tried to greet the blonde girl who was also an acquaintance of Gregory's, but she insulted me of all the rudest name-calling in existence and I realized that despite Herbet's kindness that girl was going to drive me crazy if I stayed even one more night in that house, so that's how I decided to look for the nearest hotel and explore the city, but something worries me about the government, eventually me and Gregory accidentally discovered a project that was studying about the ''Matrix'' and about ''reality'' I don't know what this means to be honest, but we are concerned and will look for more information on the subject.

The Matrix Resurrections, Lana Wachowski'nin çektiği son Matrix filmi. Seriyi 1999 yılındaki ilk filmden bu yana bilen, takip eden, üzerine okuma yapan birisi olarak söylenecek çok şey var. İlk olarak konusuna odaklanayım. Üçüncü Matrix filminin sonunda bildiğiniz gibi makineler ile insanlar arasında barış olmuş ve isteyen insanların matrix içerisinde kalmasına isteyenlerin gerçek dünyaya geçmesine mimar tarafından izin verilmişti. Kahin ise yanında Sati ile beraber bilmediğimiz bir geleceğe gitmekteydiler. Dördüncü film yine matrixin içinde başlıyor. Neo gerçek dünyada efsane haline gelmiş, matrix içerisindeyse büyük bir oyun tasarımcısı olmuştur, ününü sağlayan oyunun ismi ise Matrix'dir. Ama Neo için her şey yanlış hissetirmektedir. Bu yüzden sürekli bir psikiyatristle görüşür ve psikiyatrist ona sürekli mavi renkli haplar vermektedir. Gerçek dünyadaki insanlarsa sürekli Neo'yu aramaktadırlar ve sonunda onu bulurlar. Nihayetinde Neo ilk filmdekinin benzeri şekilde bir matrixten çıkış yaşamaya başlar. Bu filmin ilk film kadar hatta ikinci ve üçüncü film kadar dahi sevilemeyeceği açık çünkü insanı gıcık eden bir ton şey var. En başta serinin önceki filmlerine açıkça benzeyen onlarca sahne var, bunlar birebir çekimler doğrudan o filmleri hatırlatan sanki o filmlerin popülaritesini sömürmeye çalışan sahneler. Örnek vermek gerekirse helikopterden düşen mermi kovanları doğrudan ilk fimdeki sahne. Bunu maalesef Star Wars serisi de yedinci filmde yapmaya çalıştı ama büyük bir hezimetle karşılaştı. İkinci olarak Matrix serisine yakışmayan gayri ciddilik hatta aptalca şakalar var. Ajan Smith'in yaptığı bir takım şakalarda oldukça sinirlendim, ne gereksizdi. Matrix serisini ciddi bir sistem eleştirisinden bir Noel filmine döndürmek için bu sahneleri koymuşlar adeta. Bunun gibi detaylar çok fazla ha güzel şeyler yok muydu vardı tabii. Mesela insanlar ile bilinçlenmiş makineler arasındaki ilişki vurgusu bence çok önemliydi keşke oraları daha fazla görme şansımız olsaydı. Sati'yi tekrar görmek çok iyiydi hatta "keşke Neo ve Trinity'nin böyle bir filmini izlemektense onun macerasını izleseydik" dedim izlerken. Şimdi gelelim ciddi analize bence serinin üç filmini özgürlük teleolojisi bakımından karşılaştırabiliriz. Ki bence bu son filmin en büyük eleştiri ve seriye ihanet ettiği düşüncesi buradan kaynaklanıyor. İlk film tümüyle bir özgürleşme düşüncesi üzerine kuruluydu, sistem bizi sömürüyor, pil haline getirmiş o yüzden tümüyle yıkılmalı ve bizler kendimizi özgür kılmalıydık. İkinci ve üçüncü film ilk filmdeki bu radikal özgürlük teleolojisini biraz aşındırmış ve barışa vurgu yapmıştı. Buna göre isteyen matrix içerisinde kalabilir isteyen gerçek dünyaya geçebilir seçimini herkes kendisi vermeliydi. Son film ise önceki üç filmin özgürlük üzerine olan tüm vurgularını yok saymış ve sistemden (yani matrixden) çıkışın çok hayra alamet olmayacağını değişiklik istiyorsanız sistem içerisinde yapmamız gerektiğini vurguluyor (filmin sonunda isterseniz burada gökyüzünü rengarenk gökkuşağına boyayın repliği tam da buna vurgu işte). Sistemden çıkmaya çalışmayın, seçim bir illüzyondur, gerçek ile kurgu iç içe geçmiştir gibi vurgularla aslında tam da postmodern siyaset anlayışına bir vurguyla sonlanıyor. Bu da Matrix serisinin temeline dinamiti koymak tüm serinin temasını çıkmaz sokağa sokmak anlamına geliyor maalesef.

The Matrix Revolutions (2003)

Like its predecessor (which is actually the first half of one story, making the term “trilogy” not entirely accurate) The Matrix Revolutions doesn’t follow through on its potential, or that of the franchise as a whole. It’s more of an explosion of concepts The Wachowskis (who wrote and directed the film) wanted to bring to life. They thought it would be amazing to see it happen. They weren't wrong. Although the plot gets bogged down into a lot of pseudo-philosophical elements that I’m not sure make sense, the entertainment value is through the roof. In terms of spectacle and thrills, this film is hard to beat.

Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) is consuming The Matrix and has escaped into the real world through the body of Bane (Ian Bliss). Meanwhile, the machines' army is tunneling towards Zion, where Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), Niobe (Jada Pinkett Smith) and the others make a desperate last stand. Their defenses may hold for a while but everyone knows it’s all up to Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) to save mankind.

Revolutions continues blurring the lines between programs and people when it introduces a “family” with a young “girl” named Sati (Tanveer K. Atwal) waiting in a subway station between the Matrix and the machine world. Huh? What? Do all programs start as children and grow up as their programs become more complicated? That seems illogical. What’s a bunch of code supposed to do when she leaves the digital world of The Matrix anyway? Is her program going inside one of those mechanical squid monsters? The scene pays off ultimately but also feels like an excuse to have the cool visual of an impossible train station while introducing the audience to the idea of the “machine world” - I always assumed the machines were either non-sentient or inside the Matrix but you know, whatever. We’ve already established that there are programs that can see the future so you’re willing to go along for the ride. One thing’s for sure, you can’t accuse the film of being inconsistent - things haven't been making sense since the end of the first movie. Most notably, Neo’s ability to stop machines dead in their tracks in the real world.

If your head hurts trying to untangle that puzzler, here come some nice, digestible elements for you to see. With Neo stuck in a coma, Morpheus and Trinity have to go inside The Matrix to rescue him. Meanwhile, those demoniac tunneling machines are headed for Zion. How to best defend against them? With mech suits, of course. There are few sights as profoundly cathartic and thrilling as Captain Mifune (Nathaniel Lees) in a giant suit of armor with guns for hands back-to-back with his fellow soldiers firing non-stop at Sentinels pouring out of holes. Bullets are flying everywhere. When ammunition runs low, someone needs to run in and resupply them. Wheeling around mechanical carcasses, dodging shrapnel, keeping an eye out for the Sentinels the soldiers don’t manage to take down - it’s pure adrenaline. All of these scenes are on the same level of intensity as that highway chase, or every other show-stopper we’ve seen in this series so far. It’s as cool as those long leather coats and sunglasses.

Like before, there are a lot of “best scenes” to choose from in Revolutions. How about that high-speed chase as Niobe and Morpheus pilot their ship toward Zion? or the methodical attack Zee (Nona Gate) and Charra (Rachel Blackman) lead against the diggers? That fight in the rain between Neo and Smith, or the “the stakes are way too real” confrontation between Bane/Smith, Trinity, and Neo? What is unfortunate is that all of these scenes focus on special effects or action. Character development is not a priority at all.

While we all thought we knew where this series was going and ultimately, it’s a missed opportunity that there is no "Matrix within the Matrix", as Neo’s “real-world” powers seemed to hint, what matters most about The Matrix Revolutions is that it entertains so consistently and thoroughly. Does this satisfyingly conclude the story? Kind of? Missed opportunities aside, it is memorable, action-packed and conclusive. Or is it? There are hints of more to come at the end, which makes The Matrix Resurrections not entirely unexpected, even if 18 years is an eternity. I’m curious to see what the Wachowskis have been cooking up. (On Blu-ray, January 2, 2022)

Neo and trinity

The moment of truth occurs at night in a coffee shop named Simulatte. If, however, she wants to leave, they’ll both be free. So Neo returns to the Matrix to give the Analyst an ultimatum: If he reaches Trinity and she makes it clear she desires to stay in the simulation, he will return to the machines without a fight. Having gone around on this question a lot...I think that being the "mother of the matrix" doesn't necessarily imply that the Oracle normally has much to do with designing programs. It seems like most programs aren't made in (and don't live their lives in) the matrix - they're made in Zero One. They're made by specialized software engineers like Kamala. Kamala and Sati do, however, raise the concept that your "mom" is the specific program who coded you.

And agents do live in the matrix (in the trilogy era, they might be some of the only non-exile programs who do). Agents are directly involved in the functioning of the matrix and the one cycle, which would fall under the purview of the Architect and Oracle. So even before you get into any theories about Smith being planted as a one cycle disruptor...there could be a sense in which all agents, uniquely among programs, are the Oracle and Architect's lovechildren
