Golden Thousand-Armed Kannon statue

Of course, it is not pure gold, but gilt. I got this Senju Kannon a long time ago.

At the time I got it, it didn't stand up on its own (it probably came with a special stand and Zushi-cabinet, but it was missing), so I lost interest in it and put it away.

Recently, I took it out, I was once again impressed by the intricate and exquisite carving or casting.

I wonder how it was made. I wonder if each arm was made by molding and carving, and then fitted into each arm one by one.

Or was the whole thing made in one mold and then add detailed carvings later?

The face of the Kannon, made of jade, is also well carved with half-open eyes.

Furthermore, the metal covering around the face must have required a high level of skill.

I don't know the exact year, but I suspect it is from the Qing dynasty.

Unfortunately, the front two arms are missing. But they're only two of the thousand arms. lol

The thousand-armed Kannon saves people with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes.

What was the best meal you ate all year?

Ok this is gonna be easy and in comparison to a lot of people very plain.

It was about a month, it was a joint of roast beef, lightly seasoned, w/ roasted potatoes (done properly, boiled for 5 mins, tossed & seasoned, directly into hot oil) so they were crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside, plus various vegetables, all served w/ gravy.

Why such a simple meal? this year esp I've been struggling badly w/ dietary problems & this was made during a week of tests and I needed to trigger whatever going on.

First time eating beef in 5~ years I think. The smell, the taste and texture was perfect.

I really seemed to like the 1998 Godzilla movie, not the one with original Godzilla in Japan, but the one with giant monster in New York, which did lead to find the other ones eventually and watch those even though I didn’t know what they were saying 😅

What's a hobby you don't partake in, but has always appealed to you?

painting is what immediately comes to mind. a friend of mine in law school always had canvases she was working on and my dad paints miniatures. i don't have the patience for it, but i admire anyone who takes the time.

7) I had some frozen Dan Dan noodles last night for dinner

24) My best subjects were always english and math but in high school i got the best consistent grades in my sign language class

27) I have. Not sure how much detail i wanna go into here haha

32) It was blue in my early years, then purple in high school, but recently pink has really been popping my pussy out. My phone and my favorite earrings are pink soooo
