Big fan of the ideas that: ~
Only Luffy and Sanji are allowed to handle Zoro's swords when he's unable to
Chopper activates every maternal instinct Zoro never knew he had and the crew is endlessly charmed by it
Kid and Killer have small crushes on Zoro and Luffy is not impressed Look I dont make the rules okay
Chopper, Law, and Marco are all good friends
Zoro has depression and chronic pain
Ace had the whitebeard crew wrapped around his finger
Robin and Law regularly discuss morbid things and it freaks everyone out
Devilfruit users heal just a little quicker than non users
Zoro and Perona have decided Mihawk is their father figure much to his displeasure, they send him fathers day cards
Luffy hugs the crew a lot and presses their forehead together when he's really happy
Makino is actually terrifying and all the ideas and theories that Shanks is gonna be bad are false because if he ever did anything shady she would destroy him. Desperately shoves fingers in ears and says lalalala really loud whenever someone theorizes about Shanks being the big baddie
Smoker actually respects a lot of the worst generation and he wants to toss himself into the sea when he realizes it
Everybody knows what happened at thriller bark

Zoro being just a little desperate for soft affection because people don't touch him gently. He's not something people handle with care or touch with careful intentions.
He's a swordsman
The first mate of the future pirate king and a god
A strawhat pirate
He doesn't mind it, because you can't miss something you don't really know, but sometimes he gets hints of it. Like Chopper taking care of his injuries or Robin's hands brushing against him as she hands him something. The others don't touch gently. They're pirates, liars, thieves and fighters.
It's hard to be gentle on the sea.
Luffy's too strong for his own good
Sanji's alway eager to pick a fight
Nami's not very familiar with gentleness herself
Usopp's too unsure
Franky doesn't trust himself
Brook doesn't think he's capable of it anymore
Zoro deserves gentle sometimes though, when he's more white bandages than tan skin or when he smells like blood rather than salt.
Sometimes he looks very breakable for how unbreakable he is.
There are times he looks soft, only with them.
When he lets himself wake up slowly, silver eye still cloudy with sleep and everything about him sleep ruffled and soft.
Or when he speaks with Chopper, letting his body loosen from a stricter hold and creating a welcoming atmosphere that always has Chopper climbing into his lap or dancing happily.
Always when he takes care of his swords, each movement done without too much thought after years of repetition. A critical eye looking them over before moving to the next, handled with a care that looks like it should be unnatural to a man like Zoro.
He goes sweet for them.
Looking as surprised as they do when he surges towards the gentle affection like he can't stop himself.
💙
Luffy throwing his arm around Zoro's shoulders, and touching, thoughtless and confident because he knows Zoro won't pull away. His fingers playing with earrings, petting at soft hair and brushing against skin.
Zoro can't help the little, protesting noise that slips out when it stops.
Luffy looks at him with a blank expression and observing eyes, the face he wears when he's serious about something. He returns his hand to the side of Zoro's neck and it's so careful, fingers caressing against his neck in little brushes and it has him melting.
Luffy's incredibly pleased because Zoro is such a warm, happy weight against his side, all loose limbed and practically purring.
He looks vulnerable and sleepy in a way that has a bubble of something growing in Luffy's chest. It threatens to choke him, his throat tight with it and his heart beating weird. He just keeps petting with confident but gentle touches.
Zoro buries his face in his shoulder and it knocks the wind out of his lungs. He wants to move, energy popping under his skin in happiness but he stays still. The arms he wraps around Zoro to drag him closer, half on his lap and still not close enough, are gentle.
💙
Sanji trying to figure out the best way to get Zoro back to the crew after a battle. Hovering because everywhere looks bruised and bloody, seriously it's like he tries to get cut up during his fights.
Finally getting him up enough that he can climb on Sanji's back and they'll try that way.
Zoro's lighter than he looks, they all know that but it's always a little surprising. He's quick on his feet, has used half the crew as spring boards for a push off in fights and he definitely wouldn't be able to do that so easily if he weighed what he looks.
He's a warm weight against Sanji's back and the cook can feel his thighs from where he's got his hands placed for support, they have a healthy layer of fat covering the muscle.
He's embarrassed by the pleased feeling he gets from that. The idea that Zoro is healthy and taken care of because of him is powerful. He's very proud of how the crew looks healthy and strong, nothing about them that suggests hunger or poor nutrition.
He brushes his thumb back and forth in a gentle way, briefly wishing he felt skin instead of fabric, before very quickly shoving that thought into a little box and placing it all the way to the back of his mind.
Zoro relaxes into him, body pressing heavier as he stops tensing up and his chin digging into Sanji's shoulder. He looks exhausted but his breathing has calmed and he almost looks like he could fall asleep.
Sanji just tugs him more securely against his back, desperately ignoring the way Zoro's legs tightens around his waist at the movement and how his chest pressing against Sanji's back has his nose itching. Zoro relaxes again and Sanji goes back to rubbing his thumbs back and forth, gentle and comforting.
💙
100% based on the ideas that:
Luffy just casually touches, hugs, climbs on, etc the crew whenever he wants because they're his.
Sanji is very proud that the crew looks healthy and strong, knowing it's because he's the one making their food.
Zoro being a strange type of touch starved that has him unconsciously giving off cat vibes of please pet me and I'm sorry if I get overwhelmed and bite.

Happily living in the idea that there's a wall in the Thousand Sunny where important things get pinned/taped.
💙
All their bounty posters - the first one from when they're officially part of the crew and the most recent.
Multiple newspaper articles of Vivi
A polaroid type photo of Laboon
Old menu from the Baratie
Drawings that random kids insist on giving Zoro at each island
A little bag of extra tangerine seeds
One of the most accurate news articles about Enies Lobby
Blueprints for General Franky
Basic first aid instructions with child like handwriting spelling out ZORO in the corner
Ace's last bounty poster and a thin thread with one, cracked red bead
Sogeking newspaper articles
Going Merry sketch
Sheet music for Binks Sake
Mihawks bounty poster (& Perona)
A map of the east blue
A dried cherry blossom flower
A old and carefully torn out piece of paper that mentions Ohara
Very reluctantly given Den Den Mushi numbers for Law and Kid
Sanji's terrible bounty poster, crumbled up but smoothed out and showing signs of repeatedly being torn down and taped back up.
One of Franky's speedos. No one knows who put it there or why and they're too afraid to ask at this point.
Ticket stub from Uta's concert
A paper with two columns labeled at the top, Shit Cook and Moss Ball, and filled with aggressively made tally marks. It's very unclear what exactly is being kept track of.
Newspaper articles with Koby, Smoker, and Tagashi
Grocery list with meat and booze listed multiple times in two different handwritings
A envelope only opened once, with the elegant handwriting of a doctor giving the location of a grave and stories of a beloved brother, occasionally broken up by water drops stains.
A Shakky's Rip Off Bar napkin
Old photo of Tom, Iceburg, and Franky
Letters from Kaya
A very old and faded bounty poster for Yorkie
Photo of the outside of Partys Bar with all the Red Haired Parties and Makino smiling

I know it's not even remotely close to canon but I love to imagine Zoro's swords having spirits like the ancestor spirits in Mulan, and their main goal is to just drive Zoro nuts.
Tumblr media
They talk all the time and have to comment on everything. They always end up bickering with each other and trying to get Zoro to pick sides.
One of the only things they have in common is how much they love to gossip, constantly. You'd think they'd have better things to do but apparently the living are too interesting to ignore.
They also all bond over giving Zoro shit.
▪️
"Have you decided when you will eat the raccoon?"
"He's a reindeer, we're not going to eat him, and his name is Chopper. How many times do we have to go over this?"
▪️
"What's the deal with you and the cook?"
"You're asking him about the cook? What about whatever is going on with him and the captain?"
"The sex better not interfere with your training."
"Oh my god."
▪️
"What are the little pants your robot wears called?"
"Are you talking about Franky? A speedo... Why."
"They look like they provide him a good range of motion when fighting, perhaps you should consi-"
"Absolutely not."
▪️
"Why does your captain pick his nose so much?"
"I don't know."
"Ask him. He has me doing it often now too and I want to know why."
▪️
"Are you lost? Again?"
"You told me to go this way!"
"Hey, don't blame the swords for your nonexistent sense of direction."
▪️
"Your captain has fallen off the ship again."
"Seriously??"

I want a really specific Luffy/Sanji/Zoro fic where it's focused on how Zoro is probably not able to be numbed or knocked out.
I want to do a post at some point about how Nami, Usopp and Zoro are the humans of the crew. The ones without devilfruits, no genetic stuff, and completely human.
You can absolutely argue that Zoro has whatever the fuck is going on with the demon stuff but until that's clearly discussed I'm going with the human thing.
Back to Luffy/Sanji/Zoro.
I'm really sold on the idea that Zoro burns through numbing and pain medications like it's nothing.
He can be knocked out or made completely numb but it requires a unreal amount of medication, enough that the amount is usually unavailable or risks overdosing him and making him very sick.
So, how many times has Chopper had to dig out shrapnel and bullets while Zoro was completely aware and felt everything?
Or stitched him up while Zoro held the skin together for him?
How many times has Chopper had to rebreak bones that had healed wrong if they were separated for a period of time and Zoro didn't set it right?
How about cauterizing wounds?
Concussions?
Blood loss?
What it he needed surgery because of a wound, and Chopper had to cut into him without being able to numb him at all?
Oooooof
I fully believe Chopper has had to do some of those. However, when Zoro is too out of it, or it hurts to much to not jerk away or fight back... I think Luffy and Sanji would have to hold him down. The only two with enough strength to get him still enough that Chopper can do what needs to be done without worry.
Robin could be added to that, I think. I like to think Zoro and her have a strong friendship and she's seen enough shit to know sometimes things have to be done even though it sucks.
What sounds does someone make in a situation like that? How much can the human body take?
If he was out of it enough, would he plead with Luffy to let him up? He would absolutely call for Luffy when everything hurts and I'll die on that hill.
It would be a blessing if he passed out but how long would he be passed out? Just long enough for everyone to breathe before he was awake again and struggling?
Is it worse when he's quiet? Awake but so exhausted he can't even try to jerk away?
The rest of the crew hearing everything but knowing better than to go try to help.
Having to act like they can't all hear anything and desperately hoping that Zoro passes out soon.
And Zoro is Zoro. No one really talks about it. They're all aware, of course, but Zoro never brings it up or complains.
He's actually really good at holding still, clenching his jaw and curling his lip back in a pained snarl. Every muscle in his body tense and his back in a rigid arch.
This isn't new to him. He's always burned through this stuff quick but it's definitely gotten worse as he's gotten older and stronger.
Luffy and Sanji only have to hold him down for the really bad ones. It's more of a precaution, a comfort of all of them.
They're the only ones to hold him because even blind with pain, Zoro knows them.
Even when his world narrows down to hurthurthurt, he won't fight them the way he would someone else. He trusts them to be strong enough that he can be a little weak if needed. Only a little.
Luffy being cautious and untrusting of anyone other than crew while Zoro recovers and gets his feet back under him.
Possessive and protective in the way all captains are. A extra edge to it because it's Zoro and Zoro is his in a way no one else quite is.
Sanji hovering, always something in his hands because his way of caring is food. The pain usually takes away Zoro's appetite but it's the best way Sanji knows to heal.
Luffy curled around Zoro when he naps on deck or when they go to sleep at night, trying to make sure nothing hurts and reassure them both that Zoro's okay.
Both of them running a critical eyes over Zoro because infection is a whole beast of its own. They want to make sure that if there's even a hint of one, they catch it as soon as possible.
Touching Zoro constantly because if they feel tense muscles they know he's hurting and if he's running a fever they can work on cooling it down.
🌊
The strawhat crew holds a grudge against a few people. Most of them obvious but always at the top is Garp, Blackbeard, Judge, and Mihawk.
Because they don't know exactly what went on while they were all separated for 2 years but they hold Mihawk accountable for Zoro's eye, even if he wasn't the one behind that particular scar.
They know Zoro felt all of it and they weren't there with him. And anyone who is responsible for that kind of pain to one of the crew goes right on the shit list.

A idea with a darker approach but...
I'd like to see something about Zoro bringing everyone on the crew a head at some point.
Zoro and Robin have no issue killing. I personally like the idea of them actually enjoying it. I personally feel that every ship and every crew needs a few bloodthirsty people.
Sanji and Franky will do so if absolutely necessary. What qualifies as necessary usually depends on the situation.
Luffy doesn't usually see a point in it, more than willing to beat someone down as many times as it takes for the lesson to sink in, but he has his fair share of blood on his hands.
The other crew members aren't supid, they know all this.
By this point they've all killed someone, on purpose or accident, it's more who stays up with nightmares from it.
Luffy makes them ask for things. Zoro is the same. Asking for someone to die is something you need to be able to give voice to, otherwise you don't want it enough.
He won't go on his own, he needs to hear it, but they've all pulled him aside before and asked, "please." In fear. In hatred. In anguish.
And Zoro hums lowly, and disappears in the shadows.
He still carries the title of hunter and there's a good reason for that.
It never takes him long before he's back, a bloody bag in his hand that drips along the deck but no one says anything. Luffy catches his eye and whatever passes between them stays between them.
He drops it at the feet of whoever asked for it, like a cat bringing their human a mouse.
That's it. There's nothing else to say or do. Zoro said he'd handle it, and he did.
Sometimes the only people who even know who's head is in the bag are Zoro and the person who asked. And probably Luffy, because he always seems to know everything Zoro does, and Robin because thinking she doesn't know would be an insult to her.
The bag gets tossed over the side once confirmed by the person who asked for it.
Franky makes a big show of cleaning up the blood with wails about birds shitting on his ship. He drags Usopp into helping and it doesn't usually take much for chaos to break out.
Chopper follows Zoro around until he finally lets the little doctor causally look him over for anything that may need attention.
Robin smiles at him behind a tea cup and Sanji calls him something insulting as he walks by but a bottle of sake and a snack always find their way over.
Luffy clings to him, as long as he's not hurt, and they speak to each other the way only they do, without words.
Nami quietly drops his debt down a little in her head and Brook plays something soothing.
~
The day will come when Zoro asks them. Not a single one of them will worry about blood on their hands.

The idea of Ace and Luffy being wild, feral things makes my own heart happy.
Honestly though, I picture them having a lot in common with animals.
Strong teeth, strong bones, tough skin, quick reflexes. The instincts that come from growing up wild.
An ability eat lot of things that other people maybe wouldn't or can't. Meat that's a little more rare than advisable and snapping bones to get to the marrow inside.
They walk quiet, soundless when they want to be, using shadows and blind spots to become basically invisible. They don't do it often because they both have terrible attention spans but they can sit still and silent for long periods of time if needed, waiting like predators for their prey.
Staring, the way animals stare and wait for the other one to back down, making themselves look bigger and baring teeth. They snarl and snap their teeth, flexing their hands like claws when they're not making fists, a low grumble in their chests that sounds like a odd growl.
How it's instinct to cover the throat and belly of themselves and their crews, vulnerable spots that must be protected.
Ace being one of the shorter of the Whitebeard crew, so he does that thing where he eases himself in front of the others to cover their throats and bellies. Curling his lip back to show teeth and keeping eye contact with anyone stupid enough to try.
Licking their wounds, literally.
I imagine them being incredible trackers, able to use their senses a little more than the average person. Ears a little sharper, scents being considered, eyes taking in all the little details. Maybe they're not aware of it, but I like to think they take it all in deeper than they possibly realize.
A sense for something wrong, like how some animals can pick up on the energy people give off, possible sicknesses, coming storms, being watched, etc.
Sleeping all tangled together, the way animals sleep together for safety and warmth in cooler times. Luffy and Ace are big cuddlers.
Not necessarily in the normal cuddle ways either, they like to either be sprawled out on top or covered by someone. They're either being protected or they're protecting.
Head butts and cheek rubs when happy. That extra emphasis on crew, like packs and herds. Crew.
A lot of touching. Playing with someone's hair or nuzzling into their neck or side, a lack of boundaries because animals don't have shame or concerns like that.
And everyone who regularly interacts with Ace or Luffy wants to know how two feral cats got trapped in human bodies.
Am I always down for poly crews? Yes
Platonic or otherwise? Yes
Do I think everyone is a little in love with Luffy? Yes
Do I think everyone is a little in love with Ace? Yes
The crews love their wild ones and spoil them rotten when they can and know how to.
And since this is already AU let's just roll with it.
♠️ Ace ♠️
Ace just despises Teach right off the bat. As soon as the ink has settled in his skin and he's got a claim on him that he's never had before, he's completely standoffish with Teach. No matter how much the others tell him that's his brother now and assure him, he's all teeth and fire when Teach is around.
The man makes the fine hairs on the back of his neck rise and the instincts pacing at the back of his mind spit out a hiss.
Threatthreatthreat
His teeth grind together in anger, muscles tense under his skin, and it's a vicious thing in his chest he hasn't felt so strongly since Sabo and Luffy were his.
It causes some tension. People torn between supporting Teach, who's been their own for awhile, or supporting Ace, who has a good sense for this type of thing and is so welcoming to everyone else. They don't know how Ace can be so sweet and well loved by everyone but does a complete 180 with Teach.
It's instincts that have gotten Ace this far in life though and one night, it's only those instinct that save Thatch.
Ace darting out of the shadows and landing like the wrath of a god in front of Thatch, the knife that would have gone into the man's back instead finds a home in Ace's shoulder.
A rumbling growl that gets louder and nastier as the seconds tick by, blood running down a bare chest before flames lick up a wound that only found flesh because letting it pass meant the possibility of it hitting someone else. Sharp teeth shining in the growing glow of the fire and the ends of his hair burning like the edge of paper.
The flames don't burn Thatch when the older turns around. His flames would never burn crew.
Thatch wraps an arm around his waist like he's going to pull him away, but it just stays there, heavy around him. Ace takes a moment to find comfort in the warm and very alive presence pressed up behind him, bigger than him and Thatch's own protective fury catching fire.
Marco is less restrained in his fury. As are most of the others when they rush to investigate. The only reasons it's not quick is because they want it to hurt.
Ace is a coiled threat the whole time, body tense but staying where he is because the original threat was to Thatch and he hasn't quite lowered his hackles from that yet. Still on his toes and ready to spring forward at a moments notice.
He gives a small warning growl to Marco when he gets close, who looks at him in both worry and fond exasperation.
The blood from the blade is black where it burned against his skin and the flesh is unmarked, but it doesn't stop everyone from fluttering nervously around him.
♠️
Ace is attractive, arguably pretty in a way most pirates aren't. Although this young generation is changing that quickly, have you seen some of these rookies?
He draws attention easily, everyone drawn in by his charming personality or freckled cheeks.
He's a flirt but he doesn't often let other people actually touch him. Leaning away from eager fingers or gracefully dodging arms, excusing himself when he feels to cornered. He doesn't want the feel of strangers on his skin, he just wants the crew. And Luffy of course, his heart giving a lonely pang for his brother.
Sometimes people don't get the hint though, and sometimes they do and they don't care.
Drugs don't effect Ace like they would someone who wasn't a devil fruit user but they still make him dizzy and weak before he burns through it.
It only takes once, outside a bar with someone's hands on his skin when they didn't belong there, on his lower stomach and the other up by his neck. He doesn't even get a chance to try to shake off the drug enough to do anything before the man is gone.
Familiar hands, Marco, running over his skin quick and firm like it could wipe away the foreign touch before he processed it was there. Like if he replaced the unknown touch with his own quick enough it will wipe away the lingering disgust and discomfort of the stranger.
The whole time he keeps Ace hidden between his larger body and the wall behind them. Ace's heart aches almost as much as his head with how thoughtful it was. How safe and grounding it was.
The only arms he lets grab him, the only hands that he presses in to, are crew.
♠️
Ace has a habit of sneaking into everyone's bed, they don't talk about how they all know it's on the nights where he can't sleep or has nightmares. He burrows between them and the mattress, until he's under them enough to feel covered, safe and protected.
Ace isn't a small guy but he's lean, always had a hard time bulking up with his metabolism being so high and his natural build. He feels small with them, especially the commanders like Jozu and Vista who completely cover him. Even Thatch and Marco are decently larger than him though, Izo and Haruta being the exceptions but they're large in everything that they are.
They all welcome him. He's warm and sweet, plus it's nice to know he's sleeping somewhere safe instead of falling asleep in strange places through the day.
Marco is usually his favorite though because he doesn't pretend to be asleep. He just props himself up enough so Ace can wiggle under him before settling back down, his chest to Ace's back.
Some nights when the pressure is too much and he's restless in a way that feels like it's deep in his bones, he paces the ship. He's coiled and tight, usually not sleeping for a few days before it catches up to him and he slinks away somewhere dark and hidden to finally rest.
Usually one of the other commanders can coax him into resting, all of them getting the hang of how to best help their wild, little one.
♠️
The crew getting used to Ace just crawling into their laps and making himself at home. He is also fond of appearing just long enough to rub his face into someone's neck or against their cheek before taking off again.
♠️
Ace sneaking off to literally lick his wounds in peace when he gets hurt, especially when he was still finding his place. Someone always having to go track him down because he stays curled away like an injured animal until he feels better if they don't.
Licking at his arm one time when he manages to get caught with seastone, blood staining his teeth and tongue rust colored. Marco trying to grab him and in full lecture mode as Ace tries to dig out the lingering seastone with his teeth.
♠️
An extra one to hurt just a little ♥️
Ace is wild. Already a problem before you factor in his devil fruit and raw power. He's got a reputation of biting, taking off fingers and catching throats between sharp teeth.
It seems like someone did their research though because the muzzle they wrangle him into has seastone. Everyone has finally caught on to the fact that he doesn't need his flames to bite.
It's a sharp, nasty thing. Probably thrown together quick in a desperate attempt to get him under control. The straps dig into his skin hard enough to draw blood and Ace can already picture Marco talking about infections.
It hurts and goes from a deep, dull discomfort to a sharp, active pain. The muzzle settles into his skin and rub the skin raw where it doesn't outright cut into it. He's been captured for a few days, the wounds clotting and trying to heal only to be ripped back open when moving a certain way.
It was only a matter of time until they came for him and when the guards start getting fidgety he wishes he could show his teeth in a grin. Everyone knows what happens to those stupid enough to mess with the Whitebeard pirates.
He always knew they'd find him, even when the guards whispered in his ear cruel taunts about being forgotten. Unloved.
His heart still goes heavy with affection when he hears the first sounds of death coming for his captors.

Robin and Franky adopt a roomba
• It falls off the ship sometimes and Luffy/Chopper always jump in after it
• Franky's modified it so it has an absolute unreal amount of weapons and extras even though it's still small and flat. There's a little hatch on top that flips open and a comically large cannon pops out.
Robin just tapes knives to it and watches the chaos.
• It chases intruders around with a intimidating red light and no one is quite sure what the red light is or does. Not even Franky knows but he thinks it's super! Robin only smiles when asked.
• Sometimes it goes off the ship at islands and has its own little adventures
• It has a talent for finding Zoro when he gets lost and herds him back to the ship like a sheepdog
It just runs into the back of his ankles over and over until he goes the right way.

I have decided that I love the idea that Luffy and Zoro don't let the crew hide.
Let me explain.
We as viewers, see the highlights of the anime/la/manga. We see the big wins and we see the occasional big losses that evening lead to big wins.
The crew always comes out stronger in the end.
Fantastic. I love that. We all love that.
What about the little stuff we don't see? The little battles that don't mean anything? The day to day things that don't seem big at all?
There wil be times where they feel weak, stupid, and cowardly. Times when people are cruel for no reason, when silly mistakes are made, and when true embarrassment and shame creep up on them.
Luffy and Zoro don't let them hide.
Every time they curve their spine to curl into themselves, Luffy and Zoro put a hand on their back and push lightly. Just enough to have them straightening up and holding themselves taller.
Everytime they drop their eyes to look down, Luffy and Zoro tap them on the chin and urge their head back up. Hold your head up, the tap says, make them look you in the eyes as equals.
Eveytimes they withdraw, taking a step back to slink away or be forgotten, Luffy and Zoro move with them. Sometimes they step back too, sometimes they catch and hold eye contact in a silent I see you and it's okay.
I think Luffy and Zoro take the approach of I know you are capable of doing anything and everything, so I won't interfere unless you ask me. I trust you to fight your own battles.
I think it's important to all of them that they have the freedom to mess up, to fight their fights, to fix their mistakes, and to be human.
Luffy and Zoro will always be proud of them.
They will always want the crew to hold themselves with pride because they should be proud, and they should hold themselves in a way that commands respect because they are deserving of it.
So Luffy and Zoro tell them to straighten their spines, to stand tall and proud.
And they tap their chins so that anyone who wishes to belittle them will have to look them in the eyes.
And they move together so that it's clear that no one is alone or overlooked.
The crew doesn't see all of it either.
All the times Luffy says best with pride when talking about them. Or how Zoro stands behind them, quiet and ready but knowing they'll be fine.
Eventually that type of care and affection sinks in. They also learn to hold themselves with pride and respect because it's never just themselves they represent.
Everytime they do those things, Luffy and Zoro are also disrespected.
The idea of Luffy curling his spine in shame or Zoro not meeting anyone's eyes out of embarrassment... it infuriates the crew. It makes them want to be cruel and destructive to anyone who has wronged them. The idea of those two being weak or ashamed is terrifying and unbearable.
So whenever Luffy's spine starts to curve, they call him captain and tell him to get up.
And when Zoro starts to get a little dip to his head, they shove at his shoulder and tell him they need him.
They carry each other everywhere and none of them will allow anyone to make their crew feel small.

I like to think the Marines must have collectively smacked their heads off their desks when Ace joined whitebeard.
Like, this kid, the kid, the one with the thing that only a few people know, yeah that kid...
Was already a huge, flaming pain in the ass and now is apparently part of Whitebeards family.
What.
All of the sudden he's a whole new person. He calls Whitebeard pops and calls the crew family. They call him brother and commander and Ace and ours with possessive eyes because Whitebeard is no fool. He knows and while he doesn't tell them the details, he tells his family that they'd take Ace from them. Would take their brother away and leave his blood on their hands and his screams in their ears.
And that's a hard no. That's where people fuck up with them.
And maybe Ace gets dragged to Marineford still. But this time they don't plan on just getting him out.
They shake the earth.
Marco ripping through people as easily as he'd rip through earth and stone for Ace. Talons shining like the swords Vista swings and the way light shines off diamonds.
I just think of Ace with his head hanging and hunger a beast in his belly that howls at him. Wrists tacky with blood dried like tar and bones sore from the cold stone. How everything hurts and it's been so long since something hurt this much. How he draws his knees up the best he can to rest his head on them, a respite for his aching neck.
The walls around him shaking and dropping dust around him. He doesn't know what's going on but it doesn't really matter. He wonders if they'll bring the whole place down just to make sure he dies in the dark where he belongs.
And how solitary his cell is. How it's dark and quiet and something inside him feels the same way. It curls up under this skin and he thinks he'd give anything to sleep.
The door slamming open to the sounds of the chaos beyond and Ace snapping his head up to squint at them. His family.
They pull him up with careful hands, someone breaks the chains and blue feathers flick aways the pain like it does the old blood.
He doesn't notice them eyeing it all. The dark room, the weight lost, the shivers, the way he clings to whoever is closest.
They bring it down.
And they wipe the dust from the destruction off their brother's face with love.
🏴‍☠️🔥🏴‍☠️🔥🏴‍☠️🔥
Cleaning out my drafts and this has been in there for awhile. Not exactly what I wanted but I'd rather share part of it than just delete it. Weeeeeeee

I love when people make Zoro all flirty and good at anything involving romance or attraction because its so wildly different than how I personally imagine him.
This man is the type of person who asks someone if there's something in their eye when they wink at him.
Every time he gets asked out he thinks it's buddies.
When someone tries to hold his hand he either shakes it or gives them a high five.
If someone moves to hug him he asks them if they tripped.
If someone buys him a drink he accepts the drink, usually slaps the person on the back and says something about how nice the locals are before wandering off.
~~~~~~~
"Here's my number."
"Number of what?"
~~~~~~~
"Would you like to go grab something to drink together?"
"Sure, hold on though, let me see if Luffy wants to come."
~~~~~~~
"Oh, you are a wonderful sight for sore eyes."
"Why are your eyes sore?"
~~~~~~~
"What's your name?"
"Zoro."
"That's a nice name. Would you like to know mine?"
"No."

Obsessed with the idea that Nami and Zoro occasionally have a girls night.
Another post based on Nami and Zoro being chaotic and loving bffs? Yep
💙
It all started out as a way to get Zoro to bathe regularly. They're both gay as hell, and the whole crew all live on top of each other, so stripping in front of each other is nothing new or special.
Then it shifted into sneaky attempts to get the good booze and drive Sanji nuts when they'd disappear together.
Then it became a thing.
Nami goes all out on their bath nights.
Zoro originally fought against the whole idea, very similar to how a cat would react to being given a bath, but he has since accepted it.
He's even made his peace with wearing the towel around his head, though he insists on calling it a towel hat, because Nami says it's part of the experience.
She brings out her favorite towels, so soft and fluffy that her fingers leave indents as she holds them.
A little trinket box is also retrieved and picked through. Beautiful, colored glass bottles, some thin and tall while others were short and round, all full of oils that cast faded watercolor silhouettes on the walls from the low lighting.
Little bars of soap carefully carved into flowers, shells, and fish are placed near the bath. Some of the finer details already smoothed away from previous use.
The lotions are pushed off to the side until later, looking refreshingly cool and milky in thick jars.
There are a few candles lit and placed around the room. The flickering flames sway on the ceiling and walls like full hips.
The bubbles are edged in rainbow where they catch the light, floating off the water and around the room before disappearing in a pop.
Bath night means Sanji is more willing to part with the good alcohol he normally keeps tucked away. He always gives in to Nami, providing her several bottles and a few spotless wine glasses.
The glass looks elegant in Nami's hand, surrounded by the bubbles and low lighting. It looks breakable in Zoro's, small and misplaced when held by hands covered in scars and calluses.
Sanji also prepares a light snack, usually fruits of multiple colors all arranged in pretty patterns.
He hasn't quite made his peace with this whole situation yet but he's working on it. Everyone else just went with it, no futher questions asked beyond Luffy whining that they got extra snacks.
He doesn't know if he's jealous of Zoro... or Nami.
As they gathered more of a crew and went on more adventures, sometimes Robin would join as well.
She's cuts a haunting, beautiful presence in the low lighting. Small smiles lost behind bubbles and her long legs stretched out to knock ankles with them affectionately.
Sometimes the shadows seems more welcoming, and the lines they cast are less harsh.
Sometimes, fingers sticky from fruit open easier to let go of doubts and worries, and mouths stained with something dark and too sweet will speak with less restraint.
Sometimes when they all sit there in the soft shadows and warm water, fruit and alcohol staining their mouths and loosening their words...
Sometimes they all talk about different shades of blue.
