ok so this is controversial, but i’m glad ian didn’t go to mexico with mickey. doing that would quite literally just be him throwing his entire life away, and they wouldn’t even be happy together in mexico! it would be dangerous for them and in mexico they wouldn’t be able to get legally married (at least i think so just because they’re in the country illegally) or really do as much as they end up doing. mickey has abandonment issues and his love language is acts of service. i truly believe this. he does all of these grand gestures to try to keep ian, but they never work- and that’s not all ian’s fault. yes, i hated the gallavich great depression as much as anyone and wish that they were in more of the show, but you can’t really expect ian to do that- can you? the only thing mickey had to lose was ian, but ian had a lot to lose. he had a stable job with a steady income, a boyfriend, his meds were balanced, and he had his shit together. he definitely still loved mickey, but i don’t think he felt as hopeless as mickey did. but just because mickey’s love language isn’t the same as ian’s doesn’t mean that ian doesn’t love mickey as much as mickey loves him, that’s bullshit.
