Hello. I am wondering why you start liking Takeomi. He is the most hated character by the fandom and your choice of wet soggy cat is very unique. I want to listen your ramblings.

Oh anon, if only I knew

I'll try to remember how it happened, that much I think I got it.

So, when I first got into TR, my mind mostly focused on Mitsuya and the Shiba (mostly Taiju), so much so that I ended up writing a lot more than I thought I ever will on Taiju and explaining where his behavior comes from

Because it seems like a lot of people missed some important information. And by doing that I was able to show them details they had missed (prove that I was right in previous posts where I didn't justified myself and basically got called a liar by someone in the notes which incredibly pissed me off-) and, although that doesn't excuse what Taiju did, it does explain it and makes him more.. real? Maybe not relatable, but his domestic abuse didn't pop up out of nowhere and a lot of people know what intergenerational trauma can do so while still hating Taiju they could understand him better.

Then, having finished my Taiju analysis which also opened my eyes since I found more than what I initially thought about; I myself was able to understand him better and so I thought-

Why not do that with every hated characters in the fandom?

I don't quite recall if my (at the time, very slight) interest in Takeomi happened a bit before or at that time, but the reason why I focused on him before the others (which, uh, aren't a lot anyway) was because I saw stuffs written about him which I didn't really agree with? Like, yeah, he was flawed and raised his siblings badly - especially when next to Shinichiro who was (at least depicted as)(and try to be) good at it - but they were kinda amplifying things

I know that a lot of people relate to Sanzu, or just, love him, and since they saw things I haven't seen, I told myself 'well, let's investigate, then' and then I wrote about 17k words on Takeomi's psychology.

I literally walked myself into the Takeomi rabbit-hole (what a FUCKING mistake /positive)

Takeomi did neglect his siblings, and passive-aggressively verbally, or even emotionally, abused Sanzu and for most of the fandom, is not attractive (and, let's not lie, beauty is a redeeming quality for a lot of characters regardless of fandom. How many characters, no matter their faults, get forgiven by fans just because they're hot, uh?). So he sucks, yeah

You know what he did do? acknowledged his mistakes, apologized for them and would have started his redemption arc if Wakui had had the time for that when warping up the story

He made mistakes, he's flawed, he's human, he wasn't even supposed to be here because he only entered the delinquent world to keep following Shinichiro, his ego which was back then very weak and non-existent got inflated for either survival or because he received so many compliments he didn't know what to do with it if not both because he was a k i d.

Most of the characters in TR are kids or young adults when they commit things they shouldn't have done. And yes, you can hold them accountable for it but they didn't know better - they didn't have the tools to

Now, why do I like Takeomi.

First of all - the amount of flaws he has. Don't think I need to make the list, I think everyone's got it (although make sure to remember he's got an inferiority complex and it's most likely that he also has an imposter syndrome so he's just like me fr-). But even with that, he's never an antagonist. He does things wrong but he's on our side (he's just very deaf to anyone's opinion that doesn't fit his). He sucked at raising his siblings as a kid himself (before his superiority complex developed and during it too - albeit in different ways) but that's just.. realistic? Not that it takes away the seriousness of it and the consequences, but how else could it have been? The impact on Sanzu were disastrous (not that they were the only reason why Sanzu lost it), I understand that, I don't erase that nor deny it BUT THERE'S A REASON WHY TAKEOMI IS LIKE THIS, TOO. And if people blame Takeomi for his actions (which, again, fair.) then blame Sanzu for his!! he was willing to mass murder hundreds of people!!! including his sister!!! he killed a few people!! argh. But Sanzu got his tragic-backstory/childhood shown and has a design that appeals to most, so I guess it's harder to hold him accountable for the seriousness of his actions (I like Sanzu, don't get me wrong. But sometimes the hypocrisy of some fans makes me a tiny bit angry 🙃)

Anyway, reason 84123286 of why I need Takeomi's backstory. Bc, honestly, from what we know of him as a kid+his coping mechanisms as a teen/adult, it would make sense to me if one of the reason he was so hostile to Sanzu was because he saw himself in him and Didn't Like ItTM (for different reasons) (!!! Which would add nicely to Shinichiro seeing himself in Mikey!!! more sano-akashi parallels, lets goooooooo) Talking about the parallels between the two, the fact he's Shinichiro's narrative foil compels me lots. Takeomi is quite literally Shinichiro with a negative filter on. And how can he survived that? How can he cope with the fact that no matter how much he wants and tries to be Shinichiro he'd never succeed? He'd always be the pale copy, the wood statue covered with golden leaves that are peeling away with time next to the pure gold statue. The Teru Teru Bozu that fails to chase the rain away and is going to be decapitated for his ineptitude. He'd always be himself and that's what he hates the most. He'd always be compared to Shinichiro and there's nothing he can do about it. And he can't even be angry at Shinichiro. That's his best friend. He loves him. He has been the first to love him. He has been there before anyone else. He can't lose Shinichiro, Shinichiro gave him everything. Everything he cares about, he sees value of, at least. Immaculate.

I'll also die on the hill that he is competent. He himself has no idea on what but he is (he mixes everything. For him it'd go like this: he gets praised but he's done nothing, Shinichiro has done everything which means they praised him for what Shinichiro has done. Which means what Shinichiro do, he does too. Which means Shinichiro's achievements are his as well! right? He didn't do anything by himself, there's no need to praise him for something else.)(he's fully blind that strategically-speaking and in other brainy-brain domains he's competent af. Bc since it comes 'easily' to him - since he doesn't struggle much with it, or in contrary he struggles so much he cannot possibly be good at it, then there's nothing to praise. And like, for him what Shinichiro does deserve to be praised. What he himself does is just.. things he does so compliments feel shallow)(+Bonten strives as much as Bad Toman and Manila if not more, yet there's no Kisaki. Ofc there's still Koko so that helps, but Takeomi is new to the team and got recruited (at least that what Senju said) in Brahman for his ~wisdom~)

He's also the only character who was around before Shinichiro 1) became a big brother 2) became a delinquent and that has to mean something. They're the only ones left to remember how the other was before their life went to shit

In the final timeline, he looks so healthy. He made peace with himself, his relationship with his siblings is good, he made amends. He healed, they healed. His relationship with Shinichiro, Benkei and Wakasa is good too everything's great. He learnt to understand what he is competent in and focus on it; he's not Shinichiro, he'll never be and that's okay. He's him and what he is complete Shinichiro just as Shinichiro complete him – they take care of one another's flaws but can also know live independently from each other. Perhaps, perhaps Takeomi stopped being so dependent of him

Appearance-wise, I love dark hair+green eyes combo in general so it wasn't that hard (plus there are some godly fanarts out there)

And of course: despite his complexity, at the end of the day - he's really just a pathetic wet poor excuse of a man who can't do anything right and isn't that endearing

I'm slowly getting out of the denial-phase to enter my acceptance-phase when it comes to loving Takeomi. Liking things most people hate or are neutral about is smth I hate for Reasons but it also seems to always happen lolololol. Will try to talk more about Takeomi when it comes to my mind, in case ppl who also love him but don't want to make it known because of his bad reputation in the fandom saw my posts and feel a bit more okay and comfortable with loving him

crewel, as much as we love him, expects nothing but the best from his child. his methods of teaching them perfection are... unorthodox, to put it lightly, but as long as he gets the results he wants on the first try, he's satisfied.

trein loves his children, but the grief keeps him from being the best parent he usually is for the final child, the one who will grow up without a mother, and without a father.

vargas having a smaller child, one who isn't physically strong, but being born into the vargas family, it is expected that they work to that goal. it doesn't matter that their frail body is falling apart with each training session, they need to be strong.

and sam, trying his damndest to raise his child the way they deserve, unknowingly neglecting them bc the world is cruel and he has to provide for them in every way he can.

Season 2, Episode 5: the Boston Tea Party Caper for @csweekly

BACKSTORY DAY BACKSTORY DAY

And not just for Ivy and Zack! They literally meet Carmen on her first caper and Player is so YOUNG. They’re babies all of them and I love them. Honestly it makes it even more special they met each other on caper 1.

“Player can have his own room” I could literally cry at the sweet sentiment but also my conspiracy mind whirls because so many throwaway lines were foreshadowing WHAT IF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO

“I thought he lived in the cloud” LOL

Zack: maybe it’s a flying race car?

LoL Shadowsan did not ask for a flashback but he’s literally getting one. That’s so funny.

These two episodes are so interesting. Zack, up until now, we have only known as a ray of sunshine, a golden retriever. But Trey is about the only person EVER to get under his skin. Even Dash Haber, who actively tried to do so, only succeeded in making him nervous or mildly annoyed and generally clueless in a stressful situation. But as far as I can see, Trey is not insulting Zack. He’s insulting the car, which Ivy built from scratch with her talent and skill. Zack doesn’t get mad over himself. He gets mad over people knocking his family. Only once they do that does Trey get Zack mad by insulting him personally.

Okay counting the cars, Zack comes in fifth, so they DO qualify. They just don’t have a car for the actual money races.

Shark Head Eddie is peak character design.

Urgh the sibling conversation in the car breaks my heart. They are such good kids. They don’t want to do this but they will psych themselves up to do what they have to. Contrast that to when they’re stealing to help Carmen. It’s a mission they can put their hearts into.

I am endeared that Zack and Ivy give the first geography brief. Literally everything about them endeared them to Carmen.

Let me talk about his layers of clothing color theory now, Even if it’s a fashion disaster it has meaning. Blue shorts are for his white hat days, as blue is ACME/the “good guys” so to speak. He wears a red T-shirt to show his loyalty to Carmen, but because he’s a secret he keeps it covered by the grey hoodie. Lastly, the yellow zipper on his hoodie matches the yellow zipper on Carmen’s stealth suit. Usually yellow is for team red Allies. Sonia, comes to mind later. Players outfit is literally inverse of Carmen’s. As she wears black underneath the red, and wears blue gloves.

You can literally see Carmen’s disappointment forming as the sibs start talking about the money.

I also forget how soft the classmates were on Black Sheep. Le Chevre wants her to get away. He knows how angry the Faculty are and what an egregious move she’s made by running away. He understands what that means. He still cares about her safety right now. It’s such a good scene. Because Carmen might have been fond of them, but she acknowledges they all joined VILE and knew what they were getting into. She’s not holding back and she’s not going to show much emotion over it. She knew this was going to happen one day.

If I had a nickel for every time Le Chevre and El Topo got pushed into the water I’d have like four nickels by now.

The WAY IVY RESPONDS to Carmen needing muscles I’m dying every time.

Ivy and Zack are so chaotic they’re helping Carmen without even realizing it yet. Just solidifies they’re made for each other. Also!!! I love how curious and inquisitive Ivy is!!! They haven’t even joined Carmen but she’s already thinking about making a grappling hook!!!! What a little scientist!! Bellum would love her.

Their team up fits so perfectly. Ivy and Zack need out of town, and Carmen has found out she very much needs some ground assistance. AND FRIENDS MORE FRIENDS. It’s just been her and Player it has to be lonely.

And to round it off, Shadowsan’s pov on the Faculty reaction. That’s so neat that because he’s there we get all of the pov. That was really cool because sometimes we’ll get that insight into the third party reaction for no reason in other shows, but here it’s because Shadowsan remembers and he’s there! So they all participate in reminiscing.

There! Series ending explained. Ivy and Zack love what they do. And they love Carmen. Despite their fear sometimes, they get a huge rise out of being able to thwart the bad guys. They love racing yes, but they still get to do so in a way now. They tried something different and they love it.

I knew this logically, but seeing all four of them get into the car has my mind racing with joy over the many trips to the airport and road trips the four of them have taken.

Also Player is so endeared to them too. He specifically uses the term flying car teasingly. I love. This family.

Next week time for Rue getting massive second hand embarrassment (but still a good episode! Effective!)

Wing like Stardust:

Third year in the academy, and Fischer still can’t make heads or tails of star charts apart from the basic one, let alone ones made as ships travel into unknown territory. They’re failing, they’re frustrated, and they’re mildly insulted when the instructor suggests they work with a “star student” (the pun wasn’t funny) from their second year class.

Cade is a little put off by Fischer’s distance and mood. He’s not put off at all when Fischer gets so worked up during an attempted study session that they burst into tears. The two of them turn the study session into connect the dots- dragonflies, apples, bunnies. And if imagining the star charts the pattern on a dragonfly's wing somehow happens to help Fischer pass the next exam? Well… that’s just a coincidence, surely.

When Alligators Fly:

Restless and feeling lonely, Rory can't quite seem to get comfortable in bed. He's tired though, but sleep just doesn't seem to come! And Capri isn't back for another week or so. He gathers up his pillow and blanket for a "sleepover" in the living room, right next to his music box. He puts in one of the music discs that Capri had recorded for him, chock full of stories of her adventures.

It's a soft, comforting story. This particular one tells of a place she'd gotten to once before, and not since. A mystical place, with sheep quite literally as soft as clouds and creatures who dwelled in dungeon-like monuments. All sorts of beasts roamed the skies- after all, this doman was almost nothing but sky! Sheep and cows (or at least, they looked like it!) were winged, though several creatures looked like nothing she had seen before. The story-Capri remarks, "With everything I've seen, what's next? I'll turn and see a 'gator fly out of the swamps!"

Tuning a Harmonica:

Much to his own delight and everyone else’s misery, Ward comes back from a visit to an arcade with the most neon plastic harmonica any of them have ever seen. With two weeks of shore leave having just started the day before, Bones resigns himself to two weeks of “musical genius”. Of course, he wouldn’t dare deny the rest of their that opportunity as well, much to the dismay of Kirk and Spock (especially Spock).

(And if they don’t realize until the last day that Cooper hadn’t ditched as soon as he saw Ward’s gleeful ticket trade- well… they’re only lucky until Ward catches his sib to make up for the missed performances.)

( ooc : hey I’m happy you read the fic :D and to answer your question, yes and no. In Chorus, all of the werdos are members of a species called Aurochians. while I took inspiration from the original concept of aurochians in other media, the ones in this AU have traits that are a mix of bovine, canine and feline. they’re like a weird mix of humans, cows/bulls/sheep and dogs or cats. It’s why they have the horns and floppy ears like cattle/sheep, but also more catlike features like paws and exhibit behaviors like purring and hissing! So sometimes they act like cats lol. Hope that clears things up!

I’d also say the O’Charo siblings (Tawkerr and Parly) act a little more similar to cats while the Hermeas sibs (Stoowarb and Maggie) are a bit more like dogs, but it’s pretty ambiguous and they all do doggish stuff and cattish stuff.

TLDR: all of the werdos are basically people, cats, dogs, sheep and cattle at the same time. )

Stream-of-consciousness notes on the wider Skullduggan family tree.

Contents: copious parentheses abuse.

House Skullduggan typically has a lot of children on different branches of the family tree at any one time, but as time goes on, a lot of them die young in wars, riots, or simply stupid accidents. The result is a lot of different branches and a lot of confusion, so inheritance (and child guardianship) works on a "whoever can be bothered at the time" basis.

The longest surviving members of the previous generation were Ren, Sib, and Lamb (short for Lambert). With the usual caveat that nobody is entirely sure, Ren is probably the Marquis [Gideon]'s parent, Sib is probably the Twins' parent, and Lambert is probably their younger sibling, or possibly cousin, or maybe one of the Ren/Sib combination married into the family and both were the Marquis's parents, making them and the Twins half-siblings? Nobody knows. There are also a bunch of cousins and second cousins, possibly one lucky grandparent (Sim, short for Simeon). Maybe one of the cousins had Gideon and couldn't be bothered to raise them, donating them to Ren instead.

(Gideon was nicknamed "The Kid" because they were the first born of their generation ["Has anybody seen the kid? I swear I left them here an hour ago..."]. It caught on because Ren liked saying "Gid the Kid", and eventually "Gid" got dropped. Most people who don't call them "Cuz" still call them "Kid")

Ren was the oldest, Sib a little younger, Lambert the youngest by a significant amount - there were almost definitely other children between Sib and Lambert.

Only Lambert is still alive. The Marquis sees them as a sort of older sibling, although Lambert thinks of them more as a niece/nephew, maybe a young cousin.

Combined with the headcanon that the Marquis had several younger siblings, all of whom died, their affection for the Twins and Lambert is creating a kind of sad situation where they instinctively try to rebuild the family they lost, without thinking about or realising what they're doing.

The role of representing the family in court as the Marquis Skullduggan has most frequently been filled by Sib and Gideon. Robin takes it reasonably often as well. She prefers doing it to Cherry, who considers it a hassle.

The Skullduggan line is less of a family tree, more of a garden gone wild and overgrown with weeds. Nevertheless they have a strong sense of loyalty to one another - they might scuffle and bicker, and they don't really understand being supportive in more emotional matters, but when push comes to shove one Skullduggan will defend another to the death (enthusiastically, even).

Very few have ever considered leaving the family, despite how unhealthy it is, and the only ones who do are the black sheep who never subscribed to its worldview in the first place. People like the Marquis and Twins would never leave, no matter how many good, kind, supportive people offering an escape they might meet in their travels - they definitely inherited the "likes to cause trouble and start fights" gene. Also the family is rich and powerful (compared to the proletariat, that is, not to other noble houses). That helps make up for any shortcomings.

WIP game: I'd love to know more about "Devotion, COC22 Day 13" or "Mordelia asks" (I'm always here for Mordelia content!)

Oooh, I have asks in my inbox! *unreasonable excitement* This is my first one, but there’s another ask about Devotion so I’ll talk about the Mordelia one here and Devotion separately. Thank you so much for asking!

So I actually thought it was something else when I read my half-assed title, because there’s a running bit in the fic where Mordelia keeps mistakenly framing the boys’ more innocent activities as ‘having sex’ and I figured this was one of those scenes. It isn’t! (Although that’s why Baz says what he does.) This is set a bit early in the fic and Baz and Simon are just settling into a kind of unwilling affection toward each other. Baz has known who Simon is for most of his life and has been secretly harboring feelings for him for about that long, and meanwhile Simon grew up not really knowing anything about Baz specifically, but he was aware that the Pitches were one of the Old Families that the Mage has turned him against. It’s never a very convincing antipathy on either side. Simon believes that the Crucible doesn’t make mistakes, and Baz is just uselessly smitten ofc.

Baz’s relationship with his siblings fascinates me in the books—he’s such a typical teenager with his family, making Mordelia leave his room and knock to come in again, telling her he’ll stop up the chimneys etc. At the same time we really get to see a soft, nurturing side of him with his young siblings—it’s unexpected and sweet, and I tried to play into it in this fic. There’s a number of scenes with Baz’s sibs and I loved writing all of them. The way he is with his sisters and brother helps Simon to see past the snark and antagonism.

Snow turns around on the sofa and kicks his legs over the arm, letting his head drop into my lap like it’s nothing. Like it doesn’t absolutely ruin me. He closes his eyes and sighs, resting against my right thigh so that I have nowhere to put my hand except on him. His chest? His forehead? I’m hovering somewhere over his heart when Mordelia bursts in, eyes wide, and all of a sudden I’m throwing my arm back over the couch in an awkward display of casual disinterest.

“We’re not having sex now, either,” I say acidly, but Mordelia takes no note of my tone. She crowds up on my left and tucks herself against my side. With a roll of my eyes, I drape my arm over her shoulders and tug gently at her hair. Her gaze is locked on Simon, and I can hardly blame her for that.

“He’s asleep,” she whispers loudly. “Do you love him soooo much, Basil?”

Fuck, yes. So, so much. But Snow isn’t asleep; I can hear his heartbeat and his breathing, which hitched at the question. “Hmmph,” I say, tweaking his nose. “Bit funny looking though, isn’t he?”

Simon’s arm sweeps up, knocking my hand away, but his mouth twitches in an unsuccessful attempt to hold back a smile. I cup his cheek in my palm, the pad of my thumb pressed against the upturned corner of his mouth. He's utterly gorgeous.

“Not that funny looking,” Mordelia allows, tilting her head. “He’s got pretty hair!”

My fingers trail up along the side of Snow’s face and into his hair, raking back through his curls so gently that he hisses in pleasure. “I like his wings,” I say absently, fixated on his face. “They’re pretty too, don’t you think?”

“Can he fly?”

I nod. “He certainly can,” I say.

Mordelia perks up. “Will you ask him to take me for a ride? Oh, please, Baz!”

“Only if he leaves you at the top of a tree,” I scoff. “Snow’s not a pony, brat.” I’m the only one he’s going to be giving rides to, I don’t say.

Azul with Doffy!Sibling

Maybe, instead of Azul's mother getting full custody of both the children, she only gotten custody of Azul and the father gotten custody of Doffy!Sibling. I imagine that Doffy!Sibling ends up being fully in charge of some of the undersea more shady details, deals and mafia business. Azul and him don't talk anymore due to the separation even though they used to be so close. They haven't seen each other in years until NRC and just what the hell did that man do to his once innocent sibling to turn him into this?!

Deuce with Juvia!Sibling

Deuce loves his sibling with all his heart even if they seems depressing due their unique magic being able to bring rain everywhere. He doesn't let anyone talk badly about them or the fact that they easily fall in love and take it to the extreme. His sibling greatly admires Deuce due to him being able to make friends so easily. They're also overprotective of one another and loves their mom more than anything. Though, Deuce does wonder if his delinquent days still effects how they see each other.

(Juvia!Sibling ends up with broken heart more times than they would admit.)

Epel with a Zoro!Older!Sibling

Epel definitely admires his older sibling even though they have a terrible sense of direction. Zoro!Sibling is essential everything Epel wants to be when he's older especially the muscles. He just sees his sibling as the coolest person and the fact that he still wants to get stronger as a swordsman. Though, Epel is curious on why his sibling stays out so late and comes home at so late and why does it feel like they're hiding something from him?

(Zoro!Sibling is a bounty hunter and is hiding it from the rest of his family.)

Jack with a Tails!Child!Sibling

Even though Jack knew his sibling doesn't visit often due to how young he is, he was surprised and happy to see him getting along well with Cheka. He knew his sibling was often timid due something that was out of their control and the fact that people used to bully them until he stepped in. His sibling greatly admired him which made him flustered a bit because of how his sibling was more into technology and advances on machine than things relating to sports and he gotten even more flustered when his sibling said he wanted to be just like him and described him as cool.

(Tails!Sibling is a sweetheart who admires their brother so much.)

Season 2, Episode 7: the crackle goes kiwi caper for @csweekly

AKA, one more week until Stockholm. Get pumped.

This opening is so cool. Love how it’s so seamless from the previous episode. We were promised Moscow and that’s what we get. There is a nice tension to the scene too that Player doubles down on. He’s glad to hear the IDs worked, which means they weren’t sure that they would.

Hello Mr Rhys Darby nice to hear your voice again. I would support your promotion to Faculty.

Dr Bellum has SEVEN uncles. And she hates figures of speech. I love??? These moments?? The Faculty are evil but also silly and completely human. It’s these moments that humanize them. Give them depth.

It is. SO cool to see Shadowsan vs Neal here. Maybe it’s because they’re in disguise, and Neal is an older operative, and they’ve got history, or maybe because it we get to see Carmen and Shadowsan really slickly working together on a caper. Up until now they’ve all been mostly improv. We are in the thick of it now.

Love the sibs getting to work on the warehouse and make it like home. Its productive for them! Look at Ivy’s smile! Zack’s sandwich!

OH yes! Okay Shadowsan is able to confirm for Carmen that Bellum wiped Gray’s mind. I love this moment because team red now has the most complete picture of the whole situation now that Shadowsan’s with them. And Player. Is so funny. He says “fair enough” with his eyes closed, finally surrendering the idea that Crackle is a sleeper agent. Listen, this kid does not like Crackle one bit and this scene just emphasizes it.

Also! Cool that Bellum just always has a project and wants to solve things. She’s a true mad scientist.

The enthusiasm with which Zack looks up to Shadowsan absolutely kills me. Shadowsan never speaks about ninjas in a particularly positive light because that’s what he is, and he knows it’s dark. But Zack puts a positive spin on it. He’s in awe of this man. He wants to learn. ~~he wants a dad~~

Zack. Ivy. nO.

Player what.

WHAT IS THAT GESTURE? Who is gonna sign him (and Carmen and Zack and Ivy) for drama club?

“Player has wicked awesome gamer reflexes” how many rounds of Mario Kart have you lost, Zack? Tell me.

Player offering to use Crackle? Interesting. Must be fully convinced he’s clean then.

Also I appreciate that Carmen says “we can’t pull him back into the game”. Nice little nod to the CS PC games. And that was a 90s Carmen theme too.

But also this episode makes me so mad, just get Player a plane ticket and sell the story to his parents. It’s okay. I’m fine.

The way Gray barely looks at her and is all “you’re late”. Magnificent.

Okay but Shadowsan waiting for the cable guy is an important job.

Okay. Take one moment to appreciate how pretty cool and unique this caper is.

Listen. LISTEN. how funny it would be if “Peter” were actually Player’s legal name. He’s using his legal name as an ALIAS. That's next level crazy. That’s gotta be worth it’s own fic or at least a plot point in one. I’m totally cool with continuing to find fun ways to keep referring to him as Player in fics but this is one instance I might be moved to actually use a non canon name, because there are so many ways to take it.

My “Player has a grudge on Crackle” agenda goes berserk in this episode. They literally talk to each other and have NO idea. My mind is buzzing. Player does it for Carmen but how many times is he thinking about the “my best SCHOOL friend” line. (Not much because he’s comfortable and confident in his friendship but these kids are petty let me live)

So, Gray, what you’re SAYING, is that you wouldn’t mind doing the lighting for Boston.

The way Carmen dances to the music while doing her thing this caper is so cool.

Was. Was Neal the one Black Sheep stole the belt from in her flashback? I wonder that sometimes. It’s so interesting to hear the perspective of an older operative who watched her grow up there.

The panic Player has at the change of plans. Nice show of multitasking too he’s literally typing and not looking.

I love this entire near miss. Bellum, Neal, Gray could have all seen each other so easily this entire part of the episode.

And here’s what I love about Carmen. Between finishing the mission and keeping Gray safe, she doesn’t hesitate.

AH that moment he USES the crackle rod and Carmen is HOLDING her breath if he’ll remember but he doesn’t!

ULTIMATUM!!!! I love a good ultimatum. I don’t think this series has had one yet like this? Like this is super big stakes. I love Bellum. She’s kooky mad scientist who wants to solve problems and the next SECOND she’s like “let’s destroy the rice and starve a whole population” and “let’s cut the power to hospitals and air traffic” like. The others want valuable objects but Bellum’s solo capers are just??? Actual life or death???? It’s chilling. And I just love it when a character is told to surrender or else it’s one of my favorite tropes. VILE is still wanting her alive at this point.

I’m actually fully convinced, that, if given more seasons, there would have been a time travel episode courtesy of Bellum as a nod to the 90a series. This episode further lays the groundwork for her wanting to solve scientific mysteries
