@sheithunlimited DAY 5: Harmony - AKA Part II of the Sheith Married-Glowy-Rings AU
I really liked the whole yin/yang thing so yeah here’s that - tbh I could write a whole meta about how their canon relationship really really embodies this whole idea of balance and being complementary to each other in every single way it’s honestly beautiful
Side note: a conversation with a friend who was in my vicinity during the creation of both this thing and the other ring thing lead to her asking if I have a hand kink...
Pshhhhhhhhhhh... pfshhhhhhttttt... no...........
...but I can be persuaded.

@sheithunlimited Day 3: Long Distance Relationship
Shiro understood why Keith left to work with the Blades. He truly did. However the outcome of such a decision did put a snare in their relationship. The two of them had been an item since before Shiro left for Kerberos and ever since he came back, it hadn’t gone unnoticed by Shiro, how often Keith would be by his side. Shiro had finally reentered Keith’s life and Keith didn’t want to let him out of his sight. But when Keith left to work with the Blade of Marmora, the constant presence of Keith disappeared along with him. Shiro missed it. He missed Keith. But Keith had chosen to leave and Shiro trusted that this was for the best.
The first time Kolivan contacted the castle after Keith left, it was hard for Shiro to keep his mind focused on what he was saying. All he really wanted was to ask how Keith was doing and if he was happy. However that kind of questioning wasn’t relevant to the status report the Blade leader was giving off so Shiro controlled his need. He was the leader of Voltron once more and he needed to stay professional.
However it became harder for the topic of Keith to remain a secondary priority the more times Kolivan called. He had gone too long without any news of his boyfriend and accidentally cracked towards the end of one call.
“Why haven’t we heard any news about how Keith is doing?” Shiro said a little bit too fast to seem nonchalant when Kolivan said that his update was over and he’d call again in five quintents.
“He’s been off on several missions ever since he joined us. Most of the information I gave you today was gathered by him.” Kolivan replied as if that was obvious information that Shiro should have known. Shiro put his hand up to his temple in response to the Galra’s blatant response.
“I realised he was probably going on missions and doing important work for you, but how is he?” Shiro said again, trying to emphasise the fact that he wanted to know about Keith’s well being instead of his work results.
Kolivan nodded his head down and furrowed his brows together as if puzzled why Shiro would want to know about the personal troubles of a Blade member. It dawned on Shiro that the Blades probably didn’t spend afternoons talking about their feelings and it made Shiro feel a little bit bad. “I’m not sure about the half breed’s personal troubles but if you want to know you can contact him directly using the the code for his communicator.”
Keith had a communicator. Of course he had a communicator he was an agent. “Yes if you could give me his code that would be appreciated.” Shiro said trying to mask his excitement. Allura who had been standing there silently cleared her throat as soon as Kolivan gave Shiro the last number for Keith communicator code.
“Well now that that’s settled we should probably let Kolivan return to his work.” Allura said gently. Shiro felt his face flush but did comply and after saying goodbye to Kolivan proceeded to head to his room. He brought up his tablet and entered the code into the system. Within seconds a masked face appeared on the screen. Shiro sucked in a breath as the mask disappeared and Keith’s slightly puzzled face stared back at him.
“Shiro? How are you contacting me I thought you were only in contact with Kolivan’s main computer!” Keith exclaimed as he stared at his boyfriend through the screen.
“Kolivan gave me your code so we could communicate directly. I’ve been kind of itching to hear about you.” Shiro admitted. He felt the heat rise to his face as Keith gave him a knowing look.
“I’m fine. I’ve missed you but I’m fine. We’re doing a lot of hard work and its really paying off-” Keith began but Shiro cut in.
“I don’t doubt you’ve been busy Keith but I really just wanted to talk to you about how you’ve been doing. Just saying ‘you’re fine’ isn’t enough. It’s been too long for that to be an acceptable answer. Tell me how life's been with the Blades at least.”
“They’re...different,” Keith began as if trying to find the best way to describe his new life, “but they treat me with respect. I was worried that I wouldn’t be useful or have a place among them but it seems that they don’t really care about building relationships between each other. Everyone is a valuable asset and that's it. No favoritism, no casual talks between missions...it’s not like it was with Voltron.”
Keith’s description of the Blades felt like ice to Shiro. Emotions and attachments weren’t something important to the Blade of Marmora. Keith clearly wasn’t used to it and Shiro was glad he was finally able to call him so he could let all his feeling out. Keith continued, “I really haed missed Voltron but I’m doing really well here regardless. It's been hard for me not to constantly ask Kolivan about how you were doing.” Keith admitted sheepishly. Shiro laughed at the familiarity of that statement.
“I totally understand buddy.” Shiro said with a grin and launched into an explanation about how he’d be thinking of Keith every time Kolivan called. As Shiro talked he felt a wave of happiness fill him as he watched Keith’s expressions and listened to him respond.
Keith and Shiro seemed to talk for hours until Keith had to go and get ready for a reconnaissance mission. Shiro lowered the dark tablet and let out a sigh as he closed his eyes and when to sleep. He was finally able to talk to Keith after so long.
Suddenly daily calls became part of Shiro’s routine. Sometimes he’d call Keith and other times Keith would call him. The whole situation was truly like they were having a long distance relationship on Earth, except instead of being separated by state or even country, they were separated by planets and star systems. They’d chat about their day and what progress they were each making to defeat Zarkon, but they’d also talk about stupid meaningless things such as which snack food they wanted to eat the most or what was the weirdest animal they’d seen on another planet. The daily chats were helping both Keith and Shiro stay grounded and focused even though they were so far apart from each other. It improved Shiro’s mood and it apparently improved Keith’s mood as well.
“Ever since I gave you Keith’s code, he’s been a lot more focused and responsive during missions.” Kolivan noted during one call. Shiro did his best to suppress the small smirk that snuck onto his lips when her heard from Kolivan himself that his contact with Keith was noticeably helping Keith to the point where even the Blades felt the need to comment on it. That was the power of their communication. They may not be physically close to each other any more, but even with a long distance relationship, Shiro and Keith would always take advantage of any way to seem closer together.
