Hiya! I just thought of something.

What Allura piloted Sincline with Lotor? Romantic/Nutruel. I think that Allura taking charge somewhere would boost her leadership credibility 🤔. Being with Voltron is helpful but in a community-based way. Shiro was good but Allura came in under Keith's Leadership, which was questionable at first. It'd be best to learn how to lead under someone who has experience vs. someone who didn't even want to lead and doesn't have experience.

The whole search for a new blue would be something or maybe Coran could step in or it could go back to the 5, or something 😀 maybe the new "colony" would have a blue Paladins. Endless choices.

If Altas was still a thing in this storyline, then she'd be a bit more prepared to lead since Lotor taught her what he knows in a way she'd understands. If the Atlas doesn't, then her piloting Sincline would be enough! Hell, maybe she could unlock OP techniques or skills for Sincline (which Lotor will just fall in love harder than he was before. Or he could just have high respect for her as a teammate).

Just random thoughts, what do you think?

Hi, anon! Thanks for your note!! It's been a crazy time irl with trying to find affordable housing, so this was a welcome distraction! I think Allura showed qualities of leadership right from episode 1 of the show. In several ways, she was more prepared to take charge than other characters who ended up leading for the sake of maintaining old franchise lineups.

Allura could definitely have piloted any mecha, and in fact I still wonder why she wasn't accepted for Black Lion when her life force was the only one magically tied to the whole of the mecha, per Alfor's strange magic mentioned in episode 1. But Sincline or Atlas, sure, I think she could have done some cool things through those mechas too.

(Maybe if Allura knew Sincline was a mecha and was piloting it, she could have shut down things before they got too crazy in s6, oop. Or...would she have been corrupted also from the quintessence madness?? Hmm.)

Profiles in Villainy

Prince Lotar

Charming and duplicitous, Lotor is the prince of the Galra Empire and the son of Emperor Zarkon.  His father is of the Galraian race while his mother is an Altean mystic named Haggar (thus making Lotar a rare Altean/Galraian hybrid).  

Fearful of his son’s guile and potential ambitions to overthrow him, Zarkon sent Lotor away to govern a remote region of the empire.  When Zarkon was severely injured in battle against Voltron, however, the prince was summoned by Haggar to lead the Galra Empire in his father’s stead.  Herein, Lotar was aided by his three generals, a trio of female half-Galraian hybrids who served as Lotor's primary lieutenants. This included  Acxa, Ezor and Zethrid.

Orchestrating his own secretive plans, Lotor would go on to join the Voltron Force, becoming a trusted alley to the humans as well as quite close with Princess Allura of the Altean.  Upon Zarkon’s revival, he declares his son a traitor and enemy of the Empire. The prince eventually killed his father and took the throne as the new emperor.

Hereafter, Lotar’s alliance with the Voltron Force was revealed as a ruse created so to gain access to the powerful Quintessence.  Lotar battled Voltron with his own super-powered robot, The Sincline. Voltron was ultimately victorious and Lotor was left marooned within the Quintessence.

In the original version of Voltron, Lotar is known as Prince Sincline, son and heir to the Emperor Daibazaal. A dangerous and cunning adversary, his only weakness is the fact that he fell in love with Princess Fala.  His plot was to overthrow his father and marry Fala. He is a sly, scheming villain with a sense of honor, preferring to fight fair over his father's dirty tactics, and is Akira's frequent rival. 

In the next iteration of Voltron, Lotar is the son of Emperor Zarkon and his top lieutenant in the battle against Voltron the Defender of the Universe.  This version of Lotar is more dutiful toward his father and fights against Voltron in a desperate effort to earn his father’s respect.  He was seemingly killed in battle against Voltron but was later revived by Maahox, using the power of Haggarium. Hereafter he becomes the new Emperor of the Galraians and resumes his battle with the Votron Force.  

Actor Akira Kamiya voiced the character in his initial appearances; whereas actors Lennie Weinrib, Tim Curry, Mark Hildreth and A. J. Locascio have provided the voice for the villain in the English language dubs of his various iterations.  Lotar first appeared in the fourteenth episode of Beast King GoLion, airing on June 3rd, 1981.

Hi! I’ve been dying to know, how would Keith react/cope with Lotor dying in a similar fashion as in the show (quintessence poisoning after a battle with Voltron) if he was in love/falling in love with him? Also, how would the paladins respond to heartbroken Keith? I need my angst. Btw, thank u so much for continuing to write Little Blade, I love it so much!!!

I’m going to go with: horribly.

As we saw with Shiro’s disappearance in canon, Keith......doesn’t deal well with loss. In part, because he has so few people he cares for to begin with, but more so because I imagine that his history of losing those closest to him—his mother so shortly after he was born, his father (likely his only known living relative) when he was perhaps nine, and Shiro twice over with both Kerberos and the s02 finale⁠—has ABSOLUTELY left him with some severe abandonment issues,,, not to mention he spent more than half his life in the foster system, seemingly without forming a single significant bond until Shiro.

So if Lotor were to die like,,,, that, Keith’s first thought would be to blame himself; could he have turned Lotor away from that path before he was too far gone? Could he have saved him from such a fate, even after that point? Let us not forget that even in canon—even when they’d barely interacted—it’s Keith who in that final battle says “Let’s grab Lotor and get out of here.” with the only member of team voltron more insistent than him being Allura (with whom Lotor was literally romantically involved). So if Keith himself had spent time with Lotor, grown fond of him, fallen in love with him... at best, I think he’d never forgive himself.

At worst, I don’t think he would have left the quintessence field at all.

"Enter The Prince"

Sincline's ship circled the castle and ended up hovering in front of a large floor to ceiling window. "Inhabitants of Castle Gradam, listen carefully! I am Prince Imperial Sincline of the Galra Empire...heir of Emperor Daibazaal!"

During the last part of his speech, the pilots rushed to the window. Tsuyoshi was first, followed by Isamu, then Akira with Hiroshi right behind her, and Fala bringing up the rear. The princess stepped up beside Akira.

Sincline gasped at the princess. "Who's that pretty woman?"

Fala and Akira looked at each other, wordlessly asking who the prince was asking about. Akira cocked her head in Sincline's direction before minutely nodding in Fala's direction. Fala mouthed "me?" before shaking her head. "You."

Akira shook her head. "He's not asking about me, hime."

"But you /are/ beautiful," Fala replied with a blush.

Isamu was enjoying the back and forth between Akira and Fala, but he kept an eye on this Sincline character. Being a prince meant that he probably wouldn't take kindly to being ignored much longer.

Hi! Sorry if this is weird because the theme is a bit older- but I'm using Sans Comic on a sideblog and I noticed that it keeps making my pfps very blurry/pixilated. I was just curious if you knew why this is/if it's intentional or if it's an issue with tumblr- thanks! It's a really cool theme btw

ah it might be because the theme displays profile pictures quite large, but the image itself is small due to tumblr's theme variable limits- it's my oversight. but no worries, i've updated the theme so you can upload a full-resolution version of the PFP to override the default display and stop it from looking pixellated! just reinstall the updated theme code and upload your PFP to the "High res avatar" option (all your other customizations will be preserved), and it should display better :-)
