Where to Find Reputable Info About Skincare

As we all know by now, there is a lot–A LOT–of information out there about skincare and not all of it is, well, correct. There is a lot of misinformation out there so how do you know who to trust and where to get the right info from? That’s what today’s post is all about, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!

The most reputable source to get information regarding skincare and your own individual skin specifically is a dermatologist! There are so many out there and they have a world of knowledge about all different skin concerns and should be your first place for information (especially if you have acne or a skin condition like Rosacea or Psoriasis).

My favourite place for skincare advice and information is YouTube! The first YouTuber (and pretty much the person that got me into skincare) is Susan Yara from Mixed Makeup; she has a wealth of knowledge due to being in the beauty and media industry. She posts three times a week about new products and even critiques celebrity routines.

Beauty Within is another YouTube channel that has a strong focus on ingredients of products and the science behind them. They try all the products themselves, show dupes of expensive products and often refer to scientific studies.

Hyram and James Welsh also have YouTube channels and that I find very informative! They give honest reviews on products, create routines for their subscribers and have how-to’s. Caroline Hirons is a qualified facialist and verified skincare specialist and is known internationally, working with thousands of brands. She is a 100% no BS reviewer and gives realistic advice. She’s worked with many brands to create amazing products and lines and is about to release a skincare book. She regularly does Instagram Lives and has fantastic reviews on her YouTube channel.

In terms of finding quick information about products and their ingredients, there are a few sites that I love to use. Paula’s Choice is a skincare brand that also has an ingredient directory. All you have to do is type whatever ingredient you’re looking for into google and type “Paula’s Choice” after or you could just go straight to the website page here. INCI Decoder is another site that will explain what the ingredient does and also gives a list of products that contain it.

Today’s Empty @drunkelephant B-Hydra Intensive hydration serum. 5ml. This mini wasn’t big enough for me to be able to form an opinion. I used it while I traveled but it only lasted a little over a week. That being said I didn’t notice anything with my skin that would make me run out and buy this serum.
