This post is funny to me because of the entirely needless and useless coquette comment & this isnt me trying to be like mean about op or u my beloved mutuals who have reblogged this one, it's just that kroje like this & esp bridal ribbon crowns of this style are from Veľký Lom Slovakia if im remembering correctly.... this post is very funny to me though. keep it coming it is making me giggle. I cannot speak to the validity of the secone line of information given, but due to op calling these czech when im like 95% sure theye are Veľký Lom wedding kroje makes me dubious- however if it's true that's baller. I sincerely wish the information of where these are from was better. If they are a czech variant of this kroj style i'd really just have loved a town name.

Dont mind me im just translating all of the warrior cats names into my native language (Slovak) and am considering translating some passages of the books.

For shits and giggles, you know how it is :)

(cause hey if they refuse to translate more than the first two warrior cats books over here then might as well do it myself or something)

anyway did you know that in slovak there is no word for tawny? so if i were to translate tawnypelt's name it would be Hnedá or Žltohnedá srsť (brow or yellow-brown pelt), which is long and doesn't sound cool at all and am going nuts trying to find alternatives because she deserves better. So far the only contender i came up with is Okrová srsť (ochrepelt), which might not be fully accurate to her original name but it sounds much better and more interesting than just calling her brownpelt. Though it might be making her sound too interesting, considering she's a background cat erins hardly ever remember the existence for.

Tawnyspots, on the other hand can remain Hnedá škvrna (or Hnedý fľak) or Hnedé škvrny (fľaky) (Brown spot/s), it fits him and works for him. (Unless i use him to make ochre a more normalized prefix here?)

Anyway im having a blast here :)

I think I found out why I struggle so much with Czech when I understand Polish just fine (well not just fine but miles better than Czech with a lot less effort). Basically German marks focus by using stress. Something that Czech very notably does not do and in general I feel like Czech doesn't have a whole lot of stress going on above the level of morphology. And I mean yeah Polish also uses word order to mark focus just like any respectable Slavic language does but also there's a lot more going on there with prosodic stress. And I just need a stress marker to let me know what to part of the sentence I should pay attention to. And like I mean I could probably get by without it if I spoke the language better but guess what?
