Looking Sideways from the Parker Solar Probe Video Credit: NASA, JHUAPL, Naval Research Lab, Parker Solar Probe; Processing: Avi Solomon; h/t: Richard Petarius III; Music: Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, Second Movement; Music Credit: Wikimedia Commons
Explanation: What's happening near the Sun? To help find out, NASA launched the robotic Parker Solar Probe (PSP) to investigate regions closer to the Sun than ever before. The PSP's looping orbit brings it nearer to the Sun each time around -- every few months. The featured time-lapse video shows the view looking sideways from behind PSP's Sun shield during its 16th approach to the Sun last year -- from well within the orbit of Mercury. The PSP's Wide Field Imager for Solar Probe (WISPR) cameras took the images over eleven days, but they are digitally compressed here into about one minute video. The waving of the solar corona is visible, as is a coronal mass ejection, with stars, planets, and even the central band of our Milky Way Galaxy streaming by in the background as the PSP orbits the Sun. PSP has found the solar neighborhood to be surprisingly complex and to include switchbacks -- times when the Sun's magnetic field briefly reverses itself.

Wolcred Week 2023: Tea|Family
(The final section of this takes place the day before the last prompt as I will pad out certain parts of 6.4 it's our timeline and we can do what we want Yoshi-P said so. A series of scenes across MSQ that borrows some lines of dialogue from 4.5 and 6.4, clocking in at around 1500 words, about my pair's experiences with the topics.)
“Aeryn!” Minfilia waved, smile bright as she and Thancred sat together in the Solar, a tea service upon the small table between them.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt,” Aeryn said, turning back to the door.
“Not at all,” Thancred replied, standing and gesturing towards the seat he had vacated. “Minfilia enjoys her weekly tea party, and the more the merrier.” He snagged another chair and brought it over.
“Everyone else is off on their own business, but you continue to have fortuitous timing,” Minfilia said as Aeryn joined them, hesitating before taking the chair Thancred offered; he did not sit again until she did.
“A lovely tea service,” Aeryn said. The set was gleaming silver with colorful crystal inlays in an elegant, sinuous style she had never seen before.
“An inheritance, from the elderly woman who taught me some Ala Mhighan traditions,” Minfilia said as she poured for Aeryn. “I was young when my father and I fled, but when Lhaminn took me in, we had a neighbor who had once been a merchant that worked closely with the Ananta artisans, and she shared such things with me.”
Aeryn tilted her head quizzically.
“A tribe in Gyr Abania,” Thancred explained. “It’s said they’re all women, but instead of legs they have snake bodies. They’re supposed to be excellent crafters of metals and crystals.”
Aeryn nodded. “Reminds me of stories of the gods in Thavnair.”
“Oh, do tell!” Minfilia asked. Thancred sighed good-naturedly, throwing Aeryn an encouraging smile.
Tea stretched on through the rest of the afternoon and into the evening as they spoke and laughed together.
“Master Thancred, welcome!” The Fortemps manservant smiled genuinely as he led Thancred inside. “The Count was delighted to hear you’d accepted his invitation.”
Tataru’s doing; she had informed Thancred he had been invited and that he would be cleaning himself up and attending or Thal help him. So here he was, hair neatly pulled back, a small patch over his injured eye, in a simple white jacket, black slacks, and short boots that their coinkeeper had set out for him.
There were times he did not mind dressing up and rubbing elbows with nobility for a change of pace, practicing his charms and social skills on the upper crust. Today, though, he would much rather be in the Forgotten Knight’s lower rooms, drinking and playing card games that could end in a knife fight.
But the Count was the Scions’ patron in Ishgard, and he had to play his part.
The servant led him to an unfamiliar space; a veranda enclosed all in glass, walls and ceiling, leaning upon one side of the manor, the garden stretching around them before wending down in a series of switchbacks, stretching at least three levels below.
“Welcome,” Count Edmont said with his usual warmth. “Thank you for joining us.”
“Thancred!” Alphinaud said with delight. He seemed both more his youthful age and yet also matured after the trials that had led them to this cold, vertically-built city. Thancred smiled in response and reflected once more that Louisoix would be proud of the young man his grandson was growing into.
Aeryn turned in her own chair, nodding in greeting. She wore a simple blue wool dress, high collar, long sleeves, and he couldn’t see what shoes she wore under the long skirt. She looked quite graceful and lovely, with her soft dark tresses brushing her shoulders…
Thancred looked away to greet the Count’s sons.
Tataru soon joined them, pretty in a pink and white dress, in the company of Lord Aymeric, wearing a formal alpine coat in Borel colors rather than his usual armor. He still moved slowly from the Tournament and how it had exacerbated his still-healing prior injury.
“Y’shtola has returned to Mor Dhona,” Tataru said, apologetic.
“Yes, she sent word,” Count Edmont said. “Still, ‘tis nice to have most of the family together for tea, after such a rousing victory on the Tournament field.”
Thancred found himself exchanging a look with Aeryn. For all his japes about Ishgard needing her to win, he had to admit they had put on a good showing all their own; Raubahn might have done for them if Aeryn had not been there, but there was no shame in losing to the Champion of the Bloodsands.
She smiled sheepishly, blush coloring her cheeks, and Thancred was somehow distracted enough that he almost missed Lord Artoirel’s questions about the cyclops.
“Greetings! Could it be that I'm in time for tea?”
Aeryn, Y’shtola, and Alisaie looked up as Thancred strode toward their table, the dust of the road and the windblown look of an airship ride about him. “It certainly looks that way," Alisaie said. "Come on─sit down and tell us how your investigations went.”
Thancred took the seat next to Aeryn. They briefly exchanged soft smiles; Alisaie and Y’shtola exchanged their own glances, the adolescent rolling her eyes. Y’shtola’s lip twitched in amused reply.
At some point, Y’shtola mused, she would have to point out that they were not keeping their affair as secret as they thought. There were more pressing matters at the moment, however, such as Alisaie’s concern for her brother, and the update Thancred brought from Gyr Abania.
Thancred picked up his mug, frowned, and looked at the silver and colored crystal tea service, in now-familiar sinuous Ananta designs. “Where’d this come from?”
“F'lhaminn,” Alisaie answered. “She said something about this is the service one ought to use for a family tea today, despite it being a working tea, really.”
“Oh,” Aeryn said. “She’s right; today’s the day we’d use this set.”
Y’shtola watched Thancred as he frowned, and then, glancing at Aeryn and her gentle sympathizing look, he visibly relaxed and smiled. “So it is,” he said quietly. Then he straightened, pouring himself a cup. “Now, to business…”
Y’shtola relaxed as well. She would explain to Alisaie later, if Aeryn did not. For now, best to appreciate this bit of comfort as they dealt with difficult matters.
“I simply must insist!” Dulia-Chai exclaimed. “We cannot possibly let you leave without refreshment, and it IS teatime! Right, dear?!”
Ryne suppressed a giggle as Chai-Nuzz sputtered an agreement. Thancred sighed and opened his mouth to again decline, but Aeryn took his arm and quietly reminded him what day of the week it was.
“What about it…” he paused, eyes slightly squinching in a way Ryne recognized as him converting Vrantic to Eorzean, or vice versa. Then he blinked, looking to Aeryn and her expectant face. “You’re right,” he replied with a chuckle. “I suppose it is the day for family tea.” He turned his charming smile to Dulia. “Very well, dear lady.”
“Splendid!” she cried, clapping her hands in joy, then hooking an arm through the one of Thancred’s that Aeryn didn’t have, and marching them all toward her parlor, while Chai-Nuzz and Ryne hurried along after.
Ryne wasn’t sure what the “family tea” comments and looks were about, but it sounded nice. She would just have to ask them once they sat down—assuming Dulia let anyone have a word in edgewise!
“Unto thee we must also give thanks, Thancred, for coming to our aid on such short notice,” Urianger said.
“Please, you know I'm always happy to help. Don't hesitate to call on me again.”
“Not leaving already are you?” Aeryn asked with a frown.
Thancred stretched and winced. “Well, I was going to grab a meal at the Last Stand and then spend the night at the Annex before tending to my next bit of business.” He turned a wicked grin on her. “Fear I’ll deprive you of my company all too soon, my lady?”
The expected blush flared across her cheeks, making Urianger, Varshahn, and Estinien chuckle, while Zero watched, still not understanding the flirtations the pair kept exchanging since Thancred had joined them. “Well,” Aeryn said. “After that little adventure, we might as well all go to the Last Stand together. Including you, Varshahn.”
He shrugged good-naturedly. “I could hardly decline such an invitation. I shall even partake, since we will be in public.”
“This is a good opportunity to replenish our aether, since we did not take advantage of the font,” Zero noted.
Thancred linked his arm with Aeryn’s. “Do you know what day it is?” he asked her as they began to trek from the pier to the restaurant.
“Oh! Too bad we haven’t the proper tea service here.”
“Nay, ‘tis still safely at the Rising Stones under Mistress Tataru’s ever-watchful eyes,” Urianger interjected. “And yet, the date and time is correct for tea with family and new friends.”
Thancred nodded. “Indeed; a good learning opportunity for Zero as well, I do believe.”
Zero tugged her hat brim as the others smiled.
“Fear not, Zero,” Estinien said warmly. “Our resident lovebirds only mean to introduce you to a Scion family tradition. And trust me, there’s no getting out of it.”
He laughed as Aeryn turned her head to stick her tongue out at him, before returning to her conversation with Thancred as they led the way, together.

Capturing a solar switchback by europeanspaceagency The Sun as seen by the ESA/NASA Solar Orbiter spacecraft on 25 March 2022, one day before its closest approach of about 0.32 au, which brought it inside the orbit of planet Mercury. The central image was taken by the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) instrument. The outer image was taken by the coronagraph Metis, an instrument that blocks out the bright light of the Sun’s surface in order to see the Sun’s faint outer atmosphere, known as the corona. The Metis image has been processed to bring out structures in the corona. This revealed the switchback (the prominent white/light blue feature at the roughly 8 o’clock position in the lower left). It appears to trace back to the active region on the surface of the Sun, where loops of magnetism have broken through the Sun’s surface. See infographic for labeled features. We went to the Bare Dark Sky Observatory tonight, which was way the hell and gone out past Burnsville and up the side of a mountain where it is Very Dark. Very darkness and many switchback roads that were sometimes dirt made for exciting minivan driving, but we got there! The moon was pretty bright tonight but there were still a million stars out and a great view of the Pleiades, along with other notable star groups that I don't know the names of. When we got there, we took a moment to ooh at the sky, then went into the observatory itself, a cinderblock building with a removable roof.
Well, typically a removable roof, at least. Apparently sometimes your roof just throws a gear or something and then it is a not-removable roof, and then your observatory becomes a cinderblock shed with a telescope pointing at fuck-all. But the two workers were very hopeful and game and we had driven quite a long way, so we all listened to one of them give a presentation about how things are very far away from earth and how Messier is now known for his long list of objects but he mostly listed them in the first place to shame them for not being comets. Dude was very much into comets.
When the presentation was done, the roof was still on so we went down to the telescope viewing pad to look through some smaller telescopes at notable objects in the sky. We stood around for a bit and admired the even more stars that had appeared (they were not joking when they called this a dark sky observatory, though apparently Bare is the name of the funders and not a flex on being extra-empty and dark.) After about ten minutes the workers admitted that they did not know how to use the small telescopes to orient in on any of the notable night sky objects, and we could have refunds if we wanted or we could all go into the planetarium where it was warm and look at the sky from reclining chairs with our coats off.
"In a reclining chair with your coat off" turns out to be an excellent way to look at the sky, especially when it is thirty degrees and windy outside on top of a mountain. The planetarium building is new and pretty inside, and it's oriented so you see the same sky in the dome as you would outside if there were no ridgeline glow from stuff on other mountains. They showed us around the solar system and the galaxy for about an hour and I only got mildly motion sick, and then there was a gift shop! So no telescopes tonight, but it was still a good time. I think we might go back again in the summer and hope for better luck with both the roof and the wind.

La Reforma:
Way back in the hills , deep in a valley , lies La Reforma, a very small town beside a winding river. Accessible by a rough dirt road that snakes across the cattle stripped hills, this is where the gringos don,t go. Oh they used too, when the road to the waterfalls was intact, and the cabinas there were functional, but neglect and rain have ruined the road, and the stand alone solar system failed for lack of maintenance leaving the cabinas unusable. Too bad, because the waterfall at 100 feet vertical was a wonderful sight, and the rushing stream tumbled over big boulders out of the box canyon into calm swimmable pools. The cabinas were run by volunteers from La Reforma in a bid to bring in tourist dollars, but the food was poor and the road was too bad.
My friends Jimmy(Tortuga) and Tracy were planning to take their motorcycle in to some new cabinas at La Reforma, so i took public transit(sic) to join them. Given many contradictory directions, I found the old bus station uptown and the San Pedro caminettas(collective taxis).Frequent and cheap(26 pesos) . While Puerto has expanded up into the hills, the road remains the same gully twisting paved cow trail. The steep foothill terrain has discouraged development. An optomist had marked out lots(10mby20m) on a 45 degree slope, soon to slide away. Dozen of beehives a re placed off road to catch the last of the rainy season flowering trees. 1 half hour to the crucero, where the collectivos to La Reforma wait. Well i waited in shade on a plank bench, no collectivo. A stream of tuk tuks ferried people from the village nearby to San Pedro, but approached said it was 1 hour to La Reforma, no go.A totally overloaded truck disgorged a vast load of fruit and vegetables into the stand at the corner, and in turn smaller trucks came to pack the food off for distribution to tiendas. Cabbages bigger than basketballs were tossed , leaves flapping ,into the shed, only to be shot putted in to the buyers vehicles moments later. Crates of oranges, hands of bananas, heaps of canteloupe,, piles of potatoes. I was just about to call Jimmy, when they pulled up on their motorcycle with Gaeten on his spiffy 200 alongside. They sat in the shade pulling on beers and just as they were leaving along came a collectivo truck. Not that that meant departure, we had to wait for more passengers to make the trip pay. Only got one more guy but picked up a chica en route and a peon with a Husky chain saw with a 3 foot bar(?). Biggest tree in sight was 1 foot thick. All the hills have been logged, leaving scrub, vines and cow ploughed hillsides. The corn planted in the clearcuts only grows well for a couple of years until the soil is depleted and washed away. Nice cemnt paved road for 2 K then eroded dirt track. Mud dust, dirt, very steep switchbacks with tiny streams rolling down across the dirt at intervals. Terrific (terrifying) views across the valleys to the far mountains, I was admiring the eye level tree tops until I looked down and saw that the tree were 100 feet tall, rising vertical beside the track. too steep to pull out and thus saved. the hill swere green patched with corn , mostly harvested, and jungle vines coated the roadside shrubbery. Despite this abundance of greenery, this is the edge of desert, and cactus poke out of the scrub everywhere. The driver was calm(old) and safe, but he had to carefully navigate the washouts and roadslips dropping 100's of feet vertically into the hillsides. 30 K top speed, often a low gear crawl.
La Reforma after a 1 hour bumpy ride and dropped right at the gate(40P) of Mario Lopez who has built 3 cabinas for rent at the end of the road right beside the river where the stream gushes out of a jumble of big boulders. Here i found my biker buddys, swilling beer and relaxing. The place is run by Marios family, who live in the roadside houses and cook for guests. Pati 954 123 9805. Yes there is WiFi. Cabinas are 400 pesos and food is ok. Very green and shady, dirt paths, friendly but little English. My Spanish is acceptable, and if I rehearse I can ask for most things and make simple conversation. Usually i can pick the verbs out of the replies and guess at the context.
Cabinas, here called Cabanas, are new, brick built, clean, tiled, and have cold water bathrooms and comfy beds. Secure, quiet, restful. The chicken shacks of yesterday have given way to cement and tile, the dogs a re friendly, and the people ,like most rural Mexicans, are curious and friendly if given respect. La Reforma has an elementary school, a high school, basketball court, police station and an ambulance.Pretty good for a town of 1500 spread out along the river valley. No mercado, tiny tiendas with junk food and that's all. Bring food for the cooks, fruit and treats to share .Gramma makes great rice and tortillas, and everyone hangs out in the open air kitchen area. Food is cooked on a comal , wood fired, thought there is a gas stove. Electricity, artesian water(I drank it with no ill effects), caged chickens(no rooster) a quiet discouraged parrot and a puppy. The only sound is the rumble of the river where it tumbles over 10 foot rocks into a deep swimmable pool then froths across gravel and boulders ,perhaps 20 meters wide and up to 1 meter deep downstream to the town. Odd lily like flowers sway in the shallows, white with long narrow petals, safe from goats. The poolis where the local kids walk to for afternoon swimming and fun. They are shy but friendly if spoken to. the cabinas are the only accomodation in town so gringos are a novelty.
Jimmy, as chef , cooked chicken in Panko and cornflakes, cruchy coating, tasty chicken. The chicken came a bit late out of the freezer so dinner was abit late. Next night he cooked Dorado from our fishing trip, delicious! All shared with the family, who were happy to eat so well. Breakfast were cooked by sandra the waitress, maid and friend Huevos Rancheros using the onion and green pepper I brought to share. Surprisingly the slad fixins I packed were still good and Jimmy and Tracy ate sprouts for the first time. For lunch I had boiled eggs I,d brought and grapefruit off the tree(bit dry and tangy, but good). Jimmy says the kitchen food usually tough chicken in mole sauce. Glad we brought supplys.
Rivers talk at night. this one had a voice for every rapid ripple and a bass chorus from the falls. The tone and volume is never the same. Unlike the pulsing heartbeat of beach waves, the river chats and chuckles. Other than the river it was quiet , pitch black at night and felt safe and peaceful Really feels like a different world from urban Puerto. Friendly family, safe place, nice cabinas, great cold swimming hole , an affordable getaway. My total bill for 2 nights, 400pesos per night for the cabina, breakfast 100P and miscellaneous, total900 Pesos. I,ll go again....

Mister Radio
Oliver organized the small stack of notes into a more sensible order. First the note about Vera’s family in Brazil. She would want to know they were safe. Then he could mention the deaths, only two this time, then the updates on births and minor greetings if there was still enough time left in the solar batteries. Hopefully that would be comforting to the listeners. This wasn’t something he was trained for. It wasn’t like he’d planned on a career in radio.
Oliver had chosen this property, an off grid homestead most of the way up a mountain, for its seclusion and the challenge it offered. The deceased man who had lived in the little stone cabin previously had owned a variety of equipment, which his baffled children had seemed relieved to let stay on the property. Oliver had been glad to have the steel plow and wind powered grain mill, but had been just as lost as the man’s family when it came to some of the more technological objects. The homestead seemed to have better cell and radio reception than anywhere in the valley. The place had wifi coming from somewhere in the fenced off steel tower that was hidden among some scraggly pine trees. The children of the old man had given him the password and the keys. That was all he had felt the need to know. Oliver had planned to get around to sorting through it some day, maybe next winter after the barn was done. Then the lights in the valley had gone out.
The solar array had kept things running as normal in the cabin, but the really surprising thing was that the internet kept working. It had only taken him a day or two to realize that he was the only one in the county for whom this was the case. It didn’t end there. Lights had gone out across the entire eastern seaboard.
He finally looked inside the little tower. It was full of electronics. The only thing which he could confidently identify was the radio setup. It had a frequency written on a square of paper laminated with tape to the side of the control panel. It was a very simple device. It probably wouldn’t send a signal very far, but his mind began to spin. It looked so simple that even he could figure it out. Given this gift, he knew he had to try something. The next day he rode his bike down the switchback road into the valley and asked the elderly woman behind the counter at the tiny grocery store if she had a radio. He had to speak louder over the sound of the backup generator. Her name tag said Trish. She gestured to the little emergency radio she had tucked up against the window. It had a hand crank on the side and a little band of solar panels. It crackled, waiting for a signal. Oliver gave her the frequency to set it to and asked her to listen in three hours’ time. He had to test his theory.
Against all probability it had worked. The old man’s crooked notes and the equipment that Oliver had a barely functional grasp of. When he visited town the next day, Trish had said that his voice had come through.
“A bit staticky, but understandable. It was like the old days.”
He had asked her to post a notice in the window with the frequency and time of his broadcast. That night Oliver’s Valley Radio was born.
He chewed a jagged thumbnail as he waited for 7pm to hit. Things had changed a bit since the first broadcast. He’d begun with just safety alerts and headlines. Then had come the weather. It was helpful for people to know in advance when it would be safe to travel up the passes. Then he’d come into town for supplies and Trish had handed him a stack of notes.
“No one knows where you live, and I wasn’t gonna tell them. These are all from people who are trying to get in touch with family and friends. I figure maybe you can work one more miracle.”
He looked down at the top slip of paper. It was addressed to Operator Oli. Inside it held a plea for information on a pregnant sister who was due soon. There was an email address. It never crossed his mind to say no.
At seven on the dot he flipped the switch and began the headlines: the international situation, disasters, major wins and losses for humanity, progress on restoring power, or fuel deliveries for generators. “The energy taskforce reports that fuel supplies are being rerouted and major cities should return to normal by the end of March. Outlying areas, such as our own dear valley may be waiting a good deal longer. Those wishing to notify relatives that they are coming for an extended visit are reminded that they can leave a message with Trish at Morris’ Market,” he added wryly. “Be sure to list your name and the email address of the recipient.”
These days after the weather he usually started up the next segment of an audiobook playing from his computer, but this was Sunday night. Sunday nights were special. After his Saturday visit to town to collect supplies and the week’s messages he would send emails and get all the answers he could during daylight hours. Sunday was for personal updates from the outside world.
“And now it’s time for Letters. The Ferraz family of Brazil is safe following the landslide last week and are staying with their cousins in Tavares. I must report the deaths of Gerren Pengelly of Cornwall, England age 73 and Marissa Nicholson of Syracuse, New York age 41. Both died after a prolonged illness. Please offer your condolences and support to their family in town. Katelyn Sweet gave birth to a healthy baby girl this week–” The list went on. It would go on tonight until he reached the limit of the power he had set aside for broadcasting.
That was a lesson he’d learned eventually. He had to decide how much power to expend in advance. There were so many people who wanted information. If he didn’t draw the line somewhere there wouldn’t be enough power built up in the batteries by the time the next broadcast should begin. Better a short, reliable broadcast than a late or missed one. People were on edge enough as it was. They needed a single stable thing and the Valley Radio had turned out to be it. It was just a matter of deciding what took precedence. So he made judgement calls. Sometimes they were right, sometimes they were wrong. Sometimes Trish made the calls for him. No one argued with Trish. Either way, he ended his broadcast at 8:30 pm. “This has been Operator Oli with your Valley Radio evening update. Take care of each other out there. I’ll talk to you all again, seven AM and seven PM everyday until the lights come back on.”
“You should include some recipes.” Trish said it flatly in the bald way she had that indicated there was no chance of contradiction.
“It’s just an update bulletin.” Oliver replied, accepting the folded sheet of paper which held all the little notes that she had felt needed to be passed on. It was grubby from being handed back and forth between them so many times. “I’m not a professional entertainer and I’m certainly no chef.”
“There’s people in this town who’ve hardly eaten anything that didn’t come out of a can in the last few weeks. They need hope… and also a good kick in the pants.” She handed him a magazine clipping of a recipe that was at least forty years old. “Make it funny, smart boy. They’ll listen.”
“I’m not–” but Trish pushed his grocery bag into his already-full hand and moved on to the next person in line.
Smart boy. Well, he supposed it looked that way, at least from the outside. He’d started up within days of the blackout and had information. He’d delivered it a week before the little van with loudspeakers on top had come through town to tell the residents to stay calm. The van hadn’t come back. He’d made sure that it didn’t need to.
“– A recipe from a listener for pea soup. This one makes use of the wild onions that grow all over the valley and the early peas that have just begun to sprout. If not in your yard, then maybe in your neighbor’s. Just be sure to ask before checking if you want to stay on good terms–”
The morning broadcasts had taken a few weeks to find their footing. When he had realized that the increasing early morning sunlight meant that he could do two broadcasts in a day it had seemed like an obvious solution to his information overflow problem. Then the local superintendent of schools had requested some time. The local students were spread throughout the valley and up onto the distant peaks. It hadn’t been a problem before. With so little fuel to go around, though, the school buses were down to running once a week. Just often enough for kids to exchange library books. Every Monday morning Oliver read out a list of assignments for different grades. The rest of the mornings he would read out some poetry or a short story he’d found, and then cue up music for an hour. From what his acquaintances in the valley told him, that was how most people started their days now, gathered around a radio for a taste of connection. He hoped it helped.
One evening in early May, as he was washing up before the broadcast, a flash caught his eye. He watched with amazement as lights began to come on all over town. He thought he could hear the echoes of cries of joy from his window. Oliver smiled.
“As you have all noticed by now, the energy taskforce had gotten power restored at the main relay. As such, this will be my final broadcast. It will take some time for some services to be restored, but with power and internet back online, I’m sure the appropriate authorities will be able to keep you updated as necessary. It’s been an honor to serve all of you these last few months. Take care of each other out there. This is Oliver, signing off.”

Why it is so popular to covert LED light bulbs
The auto market is just one of the reasons that the LED illumination market has actually grown so much in the previous few years. LED headlights are normally durable, hardwearing and extremely energy-efficient making them the undeniable ideal selection for the vehicle driver. Today, LED fronts lights are one of the most popular on the marketplace because of the many benefits of the light bulb. These small light bulbs operate much better than the majority of aftermarket substitute light bulbs with factory-installed systems because of their very technical building. Switchback LED bulbs also provide you a nice seek to match your HID when you utilize them as car park lights.
Tumblr media
This white light led bulb has an operating power of 32 watts, in enhancement to 6500k shade temperature, its procedure is amazing and also is totally flexible to illuminate various roads. As a result of the economic power usage and the boosted LED glow illumination, which installed in all the lights fixtures of the automobile, has gained popularity. They consume the power of 40 W and also generate an even luminous flux of a crystal-white shade of 4800 lm, with a beautiful temperature level of 6500 K. LEDs are brighter, have a longer lifespan, and are normally more energy-efficient. LED bulb does not make any kind of harmful chemicals compared to fluorescent bulbs that contain mercury and need unique disposal. If you have actually seen your fronts lights have actually begun to dim or flicker, or you're just curious about an easy method to update your nighttime visibility, consider updating your headlights to LED or HID (high-intensity discharge) bulbs. One of the most effective solutions is to install additional LED projectors in the headlight assembly, to make sure the light ends up being a lot more focused as opposed to spread. Considering that LEDs are much less delicate they can be a lot more reliable within a design due to the fact that a modification in voltage as well as present is likely to happen, it just occurs. It's not feasible neither the ideal thing to do - to transform headlight light bulbs simply with seasons.
Tumblr media
For extra article about h11 bulb, please check out this great site. See to it you purchase from a trustworthy distributor. At a trusted provider, you will certainly have the ability to discover the components that you need as well as you will certainly have the ability to manage their well-informed as well as pleasant team. Another important point you need to think about when attempting to obtain the appropriate cars and truck parts is the sort of service warranty supplied by the various providers in your location. You wish to make sure that the car parts you obtain are covered by a service warranty on the occasion that there is a trouble with them later on down the line. Make sure to ask the shipping expense to your location. If you can locate business that use totally free delivery, it would be even better. It is inadequate to contrast the costs simply on the item price but it is much more essential to contrast the delivery fee as well since that is where lots of companies attempt to maintain their profit. There is no question concerning it that the existing LED illumination transformation will assure that the present fad continues to grow for a minimum of the upcoming decade. You might not see a few of the sophisticated technologies in regards to solar energy, electrical vehicles, progressed batteries or LED lighting.

Solar Orbiter solves magnetic switchback mystery
Solar Orbiter solves magnetic switchback mystery
While a number of spacecraft have flown through these puzzling regions before, in situ data only allow for a measurement at a single point and time. Consequently, the structure and shape of the switchback has to be inferred from plasma and magnetic field properties measured at one point. When the German-US Helios 1 and 2 spacecraft flew close to the Sun in the mid 1970s, both probes recorded…

NASA missions find ‘jetlets’ could power the solar wind Scientists with NASA’s Parker Solar Probe mission have uncovered significant new clues about the origins of the solar wind – a continual stream of charged particles released from the Sun that fills the solar system. Observations from multiple space and ground-based observatories show the solar wind could be largely fueled by small-scale jets, or “jetlets,” at the base of the corona – the Sun’s upper atmosphere. This finding is helping scientists better understand the 60-year-old mystery of what heats and accelerates the solar wind. “This new data shows us how the solar wind gets going at its source,” said Nour Raouafi, the study lead and the Parker Solar Probe project scientist at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland. “You can see the flow of the solar wind rising from tiny jets of million-degree plasma all over the base of the corona. These findings will have a huge impact on our understanding of the heating and acceleration of the coronal and solar wind plasma.” Understanding the solar wind is fundamental to our understanding of our solar system and others throughout the universe – and is the primary science goal of the Parker Solar Probe mission. Made of electrons, protons, and heavier ions, the solar wind courses through the solar system at roughly 1 million miles per hour. When the solar wind interacts with Earth’s magnetic field, it can create stunning auroras as well as disruptions in GPS and communications systems. Over time, the solar wind, and stellar winds in other solar systems, can also affect the composition and evolution of planetary atmospheres – even influencing planets’ habitability. Strength in Numbers At Earth, the solar wind is usually a constant breeze. Scientists have therefore been looking for a steady source at the Sun that could continually power the solar wind. However, the new findings – accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal and published on the ArXiv, an online preprint site – show the solar wind might be largely energized and fueled by individual jetlets that are intermittently erupting into the lower part of the corona. Though each jetlet is relatively small – just a few hundred miles long – their collective energy and mass could be enough to create the solar wind. “This result implies that essentially all of the solar wind is likely released intermittently, becoming a steady flow in much the same way that the individual clapping sounds in an auditorium become a steady roar as an audience applauds,” said Craig DeForest, a solar physicist at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado, and coauthor on the new paper. “This changes the paradigm for how we think about certain aspects of the solar wind.” Jetlets, which were first observed over a decade ago, are known to be caused by a process known as magnetic reconnection, which occurs as magnetic field lines become tangled and explosively realign. Reconnection is a common process in charged gases called plasmas and is found across the universe from the Sun to near-Earth space to around black holes. In the solar corona, reconnection creates these short-lived jets of plasma that pass energy and material into the upper corona, which escape across the solar system as the solar wind. To study the jetlets and magnetic fields, scientists primarily used observations from the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-R Series’ Solar Ultraviolet Imager (GOES-R/SUVI) instrument, as well as high-resolution magnetic field data from the Goode Solar Telescope at the Big Bear Solar Observatory in California. The whole study was driven by a phenomenon first observed by Parker Solar Probe called switchbacks – magnetic zig-zag structures in the solar wind. The combination of observations from many viewpoints, along with the high resolution of those views and Parker Solar Probe’s up-close observations, helped the scientists understand the collective behavior of the jetlets. “Previously, we could not detect enough such events to explain the observed amount of mass and energy streaming from the Sun,” said Judy Karpen, coauthor on the paper and heliophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. “But the improved resolution of the observations and meticulous data processing enabled the new findings.” The observations showed that jetlets are present in the lower solar atmosphere across the entire Sun. This makes them a tenable driver for the constant solar wind, as opposed to other phenomena that wax and wane with the 11-year cycle of solar activity, such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections. Furthermore, the scientists calculated that the energy and mass produced by the jetlets could provide most, if not all, of the amount of energy and mass seen in the solar wind. A Breakthrough Decades in the Making The solar wind was first proposed in the late 1950s by the visionary scientist Eugene Parker, namesake of the Parker Solar Probe. In 1988, Parker proposed the corona could be heated by “nanoflares,” tiny explosions on the solar atmosphere. Parker's theory eventually became a leading candidate to explain the heating and acceleration of the solar wind. “The tiny reconnection events we observed are, in a way, what Eugene Parker proposed over three decades ago,” Raouafi said. “I am convinced that we are on the right path toward understanding the solar wind and coronal heating.” Continued observations from Parker Solar Probe and other instruments such as NASA’s Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere, or PUNCH, and the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, will help scientists confirm whether jetlets are the main source of solar wind. “The findings make it much easier to explain how the solar wind is accelerated and heated,” DeForest said. “We’re not finished with the puzzle yet, but this is a major step forward for understanding a central mystery of solar physics.” Parker Solar Probe was developed as part of NASA’s Living With a Star program to explore aspects of the Sun-Earth system that directly affect life and society. The Living With a Star program is managed by the agency’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory designed, built, manages, and operates the spacecraft. IMAGE....In the center, a gold, rotating Sun. Gold and black swirls across the surface of the Sun. Around the edges, streams of golden solar particles escape the star, into space. A composite video from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory and NOAA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite – R Series Solar Ultraviolet Imager instrument shows small-scale jetlet activity at the base of the solar corona, or the Sun’s upper atmosphere, and its extension to higher altitudes. This can be seen in the wavy structures emanating from the surface of the Sun. The observations were made over the course of approximately 10 hours on April 28, 2021. CREDIT NASA/SDO/GOES-R
