sonyakhov truthers genuinely terrify me because there is no way that these two would've had a healthy, happy relationship. sometimes i worry because society/some people would rather have people suffer through a loveless marriage than let these poor characters live out their lives in solitary peace? i understand that sonya and fedya don't exactly end up in peace (they are, however, fairly solitary creatures) but that brings me to my next point if fedya proposed AGAIN near the tail end of the book i think that sonya's decision would certainly have been different but would fedya have done so? is his pride really that strong? I don't know man but i do feel like sonyakhov is a plausible divergent ending for WAP. both of these characters have matured and grown and this is the one time where i bother entertaining the idea of sonyakhov <3

i also cannot belive that someone just Used fedya's misogynistic spiel to defend their case for sonyakhov?? Like wow damn okay

why don't you ship it?

I MEAN . i dont think with sonya's people pleasing/dismissal of her own feelings it'd be very fun even in like. an evil way but this is a HEAVY asterisk (i think dolokhov would find out who she was truly and absolutely despise her personally . and the crux of this ship is that dolokhov actually likes someone for once . via canon etc etc)

what would have made you like it?

honestly if dolokhov was more patient and less stuck in his own head, and if sonya ACTUALLY could stand to realize someone out there was willing to care for her without any blood relation (nobody ever ask me how i feel about the rostovs) give both of them time and they would be a good match for each other. my read on sonya is pretty aro as far as it goes and dolokhov DOESN'T have a very nice relationship with romantic love so i think. i think they'd understand each other on a certain level which is nice. (comet canon is soo different and thats a whole nother. thing)

despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

coming back to that asterisk. IF they were fucked up in a romance way. oh how badly would i be down for them. LIKE wap ships are gonna be interesting to me since there's already very few that are nice, healthy relationships. but if you took an obsessive dolokhov and a distrusting sonya and ACTUALLY made it work. grits my teeth together id be so normal about that dynamic .

what are your favourite things about the ship?

ITS ANOTHER SUPER DUPER FUCKED UP EVIL ONE!!!! in the sense. that. we know for a fact anatole would never treat it seriously for even a second. marya is putting all her energy into this but she's probably aware of how futile it is and yet. she'd definitely end up feeling a little responsible for him and.. ! if that doesn't say anything about either of those two characters. im sorry marya you cant feel responsible for people i know thats what you're used to but :,(( anatole in fact needs people to stop letting him off the hook and taking his damage as their own failings :,((( let this man die marya hes gonna do it anyw—

Man you’d think with something like War and Peace being around for so long, you’d find content for any ship but nope, here I am pining away for anything remotely Dolokhov/Sonya and I still want more. Doesn’t help that there is only like 5 fanfics out there (shoutout to MVP @alleyskywalker for basically holding up this ship with their fics and fufilling my craving for Sonyakhov content) and there is only so much I can reread from the book (especially the original draft, oh my god talk about a love letter amirite?) or rewatch the small snippets from the 1972 and 2016 miniseries before it starts to lose its charm. I need more fanfic, fanart and headcanons. Please, I’m not fussy right now, anything would do. Is this the pain of liking an unpopular/unknown OTP? I don’t like this. Can I pay someone to just rewrite W&P except Sonya accepts Dolokhov’s proposal? Don’t make me have to put effort into writing my own.

Dolokhov runs a hand through his hair in frustration, giving her a harder look that Sonya is used to from him. In the years since their wedding, he has nearly always looked at her with tenderness. Sometimes they argue, inevitable when they're so different, but he has never denied her pleas like this. "What would you have me do? He's the closest friend I have. That has nothing to do with my love for you. Your little cousin isn't exactly being forced."

Sonya knows this; she wrings her hands in desperation. "But why must they elope? Why can he not openly ask for her hand?"

"Do you see your aunt and uncle giving their consent?"

"If Natasha wishes it very much..." She knows she doesn't exactly sound convinced. Perhaps it's for the better. But that can't be all of it. He's not telling her something. "If you love me, at least tell me the truth of it. At least that I deserve."

For a moment it looks like he will tell her, like he will not directly make her force him to choose. He will choose her if she forces the subject, of that she is shocked to realize she is certain. But she doesn't know if they would ever be the same again if she forces that choice from him. She prays he will not force her to choose.

But there's far too much loyalty between boyhood friends. "My darling, it is best for you if you know nothing of it."
