An SSC Emperor outfitted for the Glass Fleet of the Baronic Navy, bearing the Coat-of-Arms of House McKenzie. It is equipped with the Marathon Arc Bow standard for the Emperor chassis, and a VALKYRIE-type Bolt Nexus Quiver.
The onboard VIDAR-class NHP is a standard Baronic combat support clone, seemingly modified through unsanctioned interfacing with the human pilot; the effects of this interfacing appear to have progressed both ways.

Bit of an unusual direction from me but I wanted to remake my SSC Emperor "Garage Jungle Heads" and I'm proud of how it turned out

I promise to use the most ethically problematic one to cause ethical problems, as is my solemn duty as Dracula (and to make a Draculancer Flow build for it)

My lancer mech is starting to manifest out of my brain. He's an LL2 SSC Emperor with a charged blade sidearm. The rifle here is meant to be a representation of the Marathon. Whole thing definitely still very raw but im having fun! Currently he's in the midst of trying to help the local catgirl rip and tear...

SSC Emperor
“In Exotic Materials we don’t have problems: we have doors that are not yet open to us. A ‘problem’ presents endless branching paths. Doors are binary. Open and shut. ‘The tyranny of the problem lies in the impossible breadth of possibility.’ Smith said that. He went on to say that this is a useless framing for tinkerers and hobbyists whose ethics are defined by calcified, hand-wringing institutions. So! EXMAT is solutions-focused: there is no such thing as a problem, only a door, and the question: can we open it, or do we have to bash it down? Progress. Smith Shimano has always been about progress. Humanity has always been about progress. In service of progress, one must accept the necessity of teleological suspension. For the Emperor, after Hercynia, we had to bash the door down. Ugly process, but the riches beyond the door were more than worth it. Syncretic subjectivities, induced gestalt manifestation, H-NHP ontologic bridging, superpositional defensive lensing – look at what the battering ram gave us and tell me you’d rather puzzle out a problem then bash down the door and grab all the gold. What else is there to say? Long live the Emperor, for in its creation did we find the method by which to fling open every locked door. Wondrous things are coming. I’m glad that they’ll be under our control.” – Memo to personal records, Bala Shimano, CEO-1, Exotic Materials Group

Thought it was about time I posted my custom LANCER Retrograde sprites to here!
Inspired by @taulupis, here a smidge of description for each of them.
Nimué
Tumblr media
A highly customised Emperor, the systems and tech this mech uses are more akin to magic than anything else. Lots of abilities flavoured around water! My favourite design so far!
Follow Me Like The Moon
Tumblr media
A scrappy Everest for my current pilot, it’s shabby exterior belies surprisingly competent hacking capabilities.
Dedication to Utopia
Tumblr media
Huge even for a Barbarossa, this mech is jokingly referred to by its pilot as less of a Mechanised Cavalry Chassis, and more of a Mobile Forward Operating Base.
Face the Rising Sun
Tumblr media
Continuing my love for Barbarossas, this one is piloted by a noble of the House of Dust. Nothing gets past the blade of this frame, and it’s marble visage sees all.
Herald
Tumblr media
An experimental SSC frame, the herald combines agility and a precision energy crossbow with blink space technology, and a dedicated Hound Drone.
Herald Hound Drone
Tumblr media
With a reinforced frame designed for repeated blink space traversal, the Hound Drone works in unison with its parent mech to achieve terrifying flanking manoeuvres.
——————————————
That’s all for now, but I’m sure I’ll post more as I make them! I also take commissions if you feel you want to pay me for my silly pixel antics!

Emperor= "Least megalomaniac SSC geneticist"- WRONG Emperor= "Harrison Armoury Executive from an SSC gene line tutored by SSC constellar citizens" -TRUE AND GOOD Anyway no but fr please include an SSC geneticist like that in your mass effect story.
You are absolutely right and I apologize for having been so blind.
As for my fic, I've already worked out the whole villanous monologue and when it will happen. Honestly interactions between SSC's Farm and the Citadel practically write themselves

"Your services will no longer be required"
Politely-Worded Lightning Bolt, an Emperor frame with an LL in dusk wing. Its pilot is Rekhyt, someone who puts on the persona of a haggard office worker type to conceal a past wrapped up in the DHIYED metavault and SSC's dirty work.
Kitbashed as always from the wonderful sprites of Retrograde minis.

got anything to say about KTB/Lancer on the whole?
you know me so well.
first of all about lancer as a whole: cool system! i like big mechs and i like sci-fi and i’m not hard to please. lore goes hard it’s 90% of the reason i like spreading lancer propaganda. the other 10% is a genuine mystery because it’s not a narrative heavy system and i’m a narrative heavy guy but i’ll get to that when i talk about KTB
i generally agree with most of your criticisms about lancer combat (and i think they’re all pretty common criticisms of the system generally), NPCs get better abilities than PCs do and structure while not unsalvageable is a horrid mechanic that makes death spirals not great and can fuck up some builds completely if you roll unfortunately. honestly my biggest beef with lancer is structuring especially in a post-7th sea economy (whoa a system that makes death spirals fun and rewards risky behavior! holy shit) but i think the runner-up in terms of beef i have with lancer combat is something i haven’t talked about much and it’s the absolute state of trying to play support and have offensive capabilities
as you know i am lancer’s #1 support/controller advocate which is why i think it’s fucked the only support mech with decent frame stats is the black witch. “it would break game balance if supports had good stat lines” KTB is official content i am confident they don’t care. what if you wanted to do some scuffed bullshit por ejemplo what if a sunzi could maul the shit out of enemy NPCs. but god said 7 HP 7 heat cap or whatever its stats are. what then. in a sentence: yeah lancer doesn’t really incentivize creativity you can’t do stupid bullshit that the game didn’t intend for you to do which is extremely upsetting. i mean like you can it just won’t be a viable build 8/10 times which is SAD. PROFOUNDLY SO. building mechs in lancer is actually so fun imagine if thinking outside the box was allowed
anyway yeah KTB
jesus fucking christ
it's not that i think the talents and licenses and frames in KTB being really fucking good is in and of itself a problem. in a game when the NPCs can do bullshit like they can in lancer i might even invite it (though, i don't necessarily think anything in KTB is actually good at combating the NPC problem, it just gives PCs unfun bullshit of their own <- SSC white witch killed this user's grandma). i've taken house guard on 2/3rds of the builds i've actually played.
the problem is that KTB is just markedly better than anything in the base game or any preceding supplements. it also doesn't help lancer's general issue of talents being designed by someone with terminal striker brain- like oh wow cool strikers and defenders get some really great talent options and admittedly some support frames can really benefit from house guard (sunzi) but there's still 1 talent for hackers. like where's the versatility
"mars that's a problem with lancer not KTB" yeah you're right. my vendetta against KTB is pretty easily explained and fully a gripe with combat mechanics- i unironically think white witch is bullshit in a way that's not fun to play but this criticism doesn't extend to, say, emperor, which i still think is bullshit and also it powercrept the lancaster, which is my problem with emperor. emperor is cool, but i recall in a discussion about this we had someone said that the stuff in KTB is kind of like what paladins are to base D&D and i'll say it, powercreep is bad game design! if the content you put out after the base game is unequivocally stronger than specific stuff before it, that's stupid! dustgrave is also bad about this, seeing as a talent in dustgrave powercrept accelerate (one of the best systems in the sunzi license chain), and another talent went "what if your NHP polycule helped you deal more damage" as opposed to like. "what if your NHP polycule gave you more invade options. or tech options generall sorry that isn't about KTB either. i'm also cranky about dustgrave can you tell
KTB did add bonds though which doesn't redeem it but i fucking love bonds because it makes lancer's narrative play less barebones and i like narrative play a lot as a fan of putting miserable little freaks in situations

controversial opinion but:
galaxy > ie s2 > chrono stone > go > ie s3 > orion > ie > ares
ares fucking sucks and the only good things about it are nosaka and haizaki. idgaf about the plot, the characters are ass and idc about it enough to rewatch it.
the original is cool and all but i have no want to rewatch it and the original raimon is boring. some plot points are interesting, but overall i just don't care much for the plot. it is iconic tho.
orion can be infuriating and plot points/ characters are dropped so fast. irina's whole motive makes no sense and kageyama is pointless in this one. tho it's so funny bcuz it's so bad, kinda the room vibe yk? personally i really enjoyed the attempted murders, ichihoshi being a menace and kidou bullying him. probably would rewatch only select episodes. oh also i hate how ichihoshi's did is treated and how his ndness is cured by getting the fubuki treatment.
the ffi arc is cool and very iconic. i rewatch it every now and then. appreciate fudou being developed but i wish there was more to his arc. fubuki gets character nuked which is sad :( kageyama dying is cool and the payoff of the whole garshield daisuke kageyama plotline, while silly, ties the series off nicely. very iconic very pog.
i think go is my most rewatched season and for good reason. i like the conflict and the plot + the characters are interesting and i get so invested in them. tho i hate gouenji during the movie and him condoning god eden is just yikes. tho go introduced keshins which i couldn't care less for and i think they are used as an asspull most of the time (ie majin pegasus/majin pegasus arc, matei gryphon, taiyou's keshin bullshitery). i hate that they didn't do much with kariya, hikaru and the rest of raimon cuz they deserve to be explored.
cs has a special place in my heart as it's the 1st season i watched subbed and not on prime time television. also it was the 1st time i interracted with the fandom (even if it was just reading fics). appart from that i am a sucker for time travel and history in general. i love fei and kinako's arcs and that sweet sweet angst. tho i'm a bit mixed on miximax since i find it aesthetically pleasing and cool, but also kinda meh on it's execution plot wise. i really dislike el-dorado and the ssc conclusion and the way the ssc are talked about/treated. i also hate asurei lol
s2 my beloved you have introduced me to blorbo from my show. love the premise and the plot, the drama and the copious amounts of angst. fudou is a thing /pos and while i find the whole dark emperors match iconic i also don't care enough about it. i love the aliea kids as they're the highlight of the season to me. the only thing i dislike is hitomiko's treatment of raimon but it is understandable story wise, still i am miffed. also fubuki merging is kinda meh to me.
i don't think i need to explain galaxy as a fave bcs i think it's quite obvious that i really really like it. hell my bio literally says that. i do have my problems with galaxy, like sakura's character being forgotten, kageyama being alive and the anime being worse than the game. surprisingly i like souls.

Wouldn’t it be zyx’s harem because the rest of the world thinks they’re male and by ot3 time they’d probably be a cohort leader at the very least, if not the publicly displayed leader of the sect? Basically zyx would rank above sect heir lwj and uhhh demonic cultivator(?) (maybe possibly still jiang sect head disciple. Idk) wwx hence zyx’s harem.
(That or somehow zyx’s family drama catches up with them and they entangled in the political drama of the emperor’s court. This one doesn’t seem very likely though.)
yeah, that's what i wrote. or i guess my waerjfoweh word salad made it unclear (zyx's harem bois, the men of zyx's harem, zyx's malewives, etc). you have the right thought based on where things are going. zyx will likely be the face of shuangfeng as an adult, and depending on things that happen post-ssc the sect could be competitive with the other great sects.
even if not seen as male, if a strong enough case could be made, zyx would still have a high enough standing to justify not marrying out. shuangfeng is also not a sect based on lineage, so no one can gain control via marital ties. it'd be a diplomatic gesture
lol get shuangfeng mad enough, the northern sects throw their prettiest, most available eye candy at the 'sect leader'
there's gonna be stuff with the imperial court, but you're right that it's not gonna be wholly mundane politics. just 'stuff' :)

6,20 for book
6: what books have you read in the last month?
i have read 9 books so far in the month of may! (depending on how you count books — for example, “little mushroom” is being serialized into two volumes, one of which is coming out later this year; i read the first volume and then the rest of the fan translation and i’m counting this as one book.)
danmei: devil venerable also wants to know (have blogged about this before), little mushroom (post-apocalyptic semi-hard SF where the pov character is a sentient fungus!! if you liked the three-body problem but wanted it to be a BL, you might like little mushroom. brb im off to read all of shisi’s other books)
other fiction: zachary ying and the dragon emperor (by @xiranjayzhao!! im perhaps too old for middle grade fantasy but i enjoyed it hugely nevertheless, and it does the thing that their other book “iron widow” also does where the protagonist’s pov on side characters’ loyalties flip-flops about two-thirds of the way in, which blows my mind every time because (a) i’m comically trusting and (b) it subverts genre expectations/genre conventions where the MC automatically trusts supporting characters they don’t really know in order to get the plot rolling), black water sister (ohhh god this wrecked me. do you ever have feelings about the cycle of abuse???), a people’s future of the united states (the ONLY fiction i have read so far this month that was NOT set in asia)
nonfiction: cult of the dead cow (this is a history of the eponymous hacking group), what tech calls thinking (surprisingly cogent criticism of tech intellectualism — will have to reread it to let u know whether i agree or not, though), making handmade books (exactly what it says on the tin), making climate policy work (also pretty much what it says on the tin)
20: what are things you look for in a book?
in fiction: a good time!! i mostly read sf/fantasy/spec fic, and i’ll read just about anything in those genres if it has an interesting premise/setting and seems fun. i tend to dislike tragedies/books with bad endings/major character death, and also books that are aggressively heterosexual.
in nonfiction: interesting information :p there are a lot of books from the ssc/acx book review contest on my TBR shelf right now; i also went absolutely ham in green apple books about a month ago and cleared out like half their “tech history/criticism” shelf. and then of course there are usually a lot about Current Special Interest. i should probably get more aggressive about DNFing nonfiction when i lose interest.
