𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙄𝙉𝘾𝙊𝙈𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙎𝙏𝙊𝙍𝙈

Piles of clothes litter the floor, the armchair, some even heaped in small mountains on the plush carpeted floor.

My wardrobe has always felt limited, my closet small, but now, with my walk in emptied and all of my designer clothing in assorted heaps, it feels massive. My possessions, expansive. Too many, too much to fit into the five steamer trunks my brother is allowing me.

I try not to scoff outwardly at the notion of allowance. What I am “𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥” when I am sacrificing so much. When I am taking my entire life and crushing it, compacting it, shrinking it down until everything I am is reduced to five trunks crossing the Atlantic Ocean… and yet I am the one who is bound by these ties of patriarchal allotment.

None of this was even my idea…

It was May 2021. The world was still on edge due to the virus but it was Father’s birthday, so Enzo and I had made the trip to the states from Palermo. Father, being the head of the Association, the Capo de Capi meant his birthday was always a overblown affair.

A rooftop bar in Manhattan. More food than we could possibly eat, drinks flowing, dancing, lots of shop talk in the dark corners and cozy sitting areas surrounding decorative fire pits. Flames flickered in shadows over the faces of the men while they discussed shipments and numbers. Their wives huddled together swapping recipes for American bastardizations of pasta and pizza that would clog their husband’s arteries and send them to an early cheese-covered grave.

I hated to admit it to myself, but as I had stood, leaning over the balcony, staring across the expansive illuminated outline of the New York City skyline, I had to concede to the fact that there was a… charm to this place. There was something about the impressive high rise buildings, the yellow taxi cabs, the never ending hustle and bustle that made the city attractive. It was a place where everyone wanted to be, and yet everyone here had somewhere else to go.

It was then, as I was reluctantly admiring the loud, dirty city that so many seemed drawn to, that I heard a voice from behind me.

“𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘶𝘵... 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘮𝘱. 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘺.”

I couldn’t help the twitch at the corner of my red painted lips that threatened an amused smile as I turned to see a man standing behind and to the left with his hands in the pockets of his slacks. Casual. Relaxed. Somehow he looked both put together and disheveled. Dressed the part of all the men here, but little details gave him a devil-may-care appearance. No tie, the first couple buttons of his dress shirt undone. His sleeves rolled halfway up his arms, and his hair wasn’t slicked back by an unnecessary amount of hair gel. The curly locks looked as if there had been an attempt at taming them, but they had a will of their own.

The man had swiped two glasses of champagne from the tray of a roving waiter and leaned against the balcony beside me and introduced himself as Vinny. Nickname basis immediately. Casual, familiar.

Our conversation had been surprisingly easy despite my multiple attempts to brush him off, he was intelligent and witty. Not at all like the other American men that surrounded us that night. He had pointed out several buildings that we could see from our high vantage point, and when he reached the Museum of Natural History he had asked if I had ever been.

“𝙉𝙤. 𝙄'𝙫𝙚… 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣.”

I had almost admitted to having always wanted to go, but scolded myself for nearly opening up to a stranger.

“𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘛𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵..”

“𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩? 𝙊𝙝, 𝙣𝙤. 𝙄’𝙢 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙…”

“𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘻𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘴.”

He knew my brother and I was stuck. I stared at him in the low light and my mind was shuffling frantically for an excuse, any excuse. Nothing. Niente.

“𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵. 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘵 8. 𝘞𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘬.”

My silence taken as a confirmation. I had stood and watched him retreat with a small confident smile back into the throng. As if he had just won a bet.

I had had every intention of turning him down later that night after the party was over, but as we sat in the town car on our way back to the hotel, Enzo had broken the silence between.

“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘰 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯.”

I had turned to look at him, surprised. The lights of the city illuminated his face through the tinted windows.

“𝘼𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩.”

His response was quick without even looking up from his phone on which he was typing an email.

And so, my “opportunity” to be involved in the business I was so often left out of, was born.

That was 2 years ago now, and the current state of my life is the culmination of that decision.

My gaze falls from the possessions I’m packing away to the massive diamond on my finger.

Engaged to Vincent Luciano. Moving to America in just a couple weeks. Leaving my home. My family. Everything.

For a man I don’t even love.

My life, turned upside down. I want to scream that nothing else move. No one speak a word lest it shake the already rickety foundation my composure sits upon.

But as if laughing in my face, the universe lands another blow, and I feel my knees weaken when I answer my phone to hear my brother’s voice telling me.

And just like that, in the aftermath of the phone call that will change everything, the silence settles in like a dense fog.

I turn my head, casting my gaze out the expansive windows of my bedroom that is only mine for the next 24 hours longer. Dark clouds are rolling into the bay. A premonition.

Father is dead, The Association is headless, and a storm is coming.

Bio: No one ever remembers the night Kincade was actually born.

His mother said it was a surprise birth that happened at home, but even then… no midwife, and it was a few days before the baby was taken to the hospital for all the requisite paperwork and checkups. In fact, most people were surprised. They couldn’t particularly remember Kincade’s mother, Rhona, being pregnant. They couldn’t remember her not being pregnant either. It just seemed that anyone close had failed to notice the lovely young Irish woman and her soft-spoken husband had been expecting. Rumors hardly even started at his birth, and certainly none sustained by the time Kincade entered school.

Not nearly so quiet as their father, Kincade was an excitable child, eager to talk and to please. They fit in well with the other children, not a natural leader per se, but one who stepped up when no one else would, offering imaginative ideas for play. In the younger years, the sheer energy of the child had been a boon to all those around them. By the time they got older, however, teachers didn’t take so kindly to their talkative, excitable nature. It wasn’t an easy lesson to learn, but Kincade became quiet and withdrawn over the years and impossibly polite to boot, much to the dismay of their parents. But despite their efforts to communicate with Kincade’s teachers, there seemed nothing amiss to anyone else. Kincade excelled in school in some areas, was merely passable in others, but that was to be expected. The teachers encouraged Kincade’s interests in english and social studies, finding their comprehension well above that of their peers. Nothing much came of it though, as Kincade began to shy away from others with each passing year.

Those who knew them well knew that Kincade was a bit of a collector. At the tender age of ten, they had found a silver pocket watch hanging from a tree branch and snatched it up to show at school the next day. The story encouraged a teacher to touch base with their parents, concerned of stealing, but Rhona and James assured them that the pocket watch was honestly gotten, swearing it belonged to them and James must have simply lost it in the backyard. The matter was put to rest, and nothing was ever said of it to Kincade.

As years went on, Kincade found more and more things that way. Picked them up off the sidewalk, found them in spare spaces and closets, just little valuable trinkets here and there. As they got older, seeming more larger stuff appeared. An antique wooden chair, an old steamer trunk, a decent wooden table. With a few woodshop classes in high school, Kincade would soon learn a hobby that would become the main distraction from the tragedy that was soon to befall them.

Just days after their 16th birthday (and telling their parents they didn’t quite feel at home in their body), Kincade’s parents disappeared. They’d seen their parents on the walk home from school, just stepping past the treeline into Southwood Forest from their small neighborhood. Kincade had called out, but it had fallen on deaf ears. Unconcerned at the time, Kincade headed home, picking up a rare mint coin off the sidewalk on the way. It wasn’t unusual for their parents to go for walks together, after all. What was unusual was when they didn’t return home after an hour, or two hours, or later that night, or the next morning. Eventually, a search was underway, but there was no sign of them. Kincade temporarily went into the care of a teacher in town while the search carried on, but eventually everyone had to conclude that Rhona and James simply weren’t coming back. Abandonment. No one would say it to Kincade, not in so many words, but they were all thinking it.

With the help of a few teachers, the sheriff, and a small fortune left to them by their parents, Kincade successfully filed to become an independent, even at the young age of 16. Their grades were okay enough, finances well cared for until they were at least 21, barring any major financial setbacks, and it was clear Kincade could handle themselves. No one saw much grief from them in the time after. It seemed that Kincade was simply as quiet and withdrawn as ever, polite to every well-wisher. Many called it maturity, but it was simply a sad child unwilling to let others see their weakness. God forbid anyone take them from their home, send them to people they had never met. With no family to speak of and no experience with the larger world, it seemed safer to simply stay in Pleasance and try to make the best of it. When they were old enough, they would surely leave, go to college for something widely applicable, like business or accounting. But it never happened.

Kincade never flagged in the last years of high school, still pulled top marks in social sciences and adequate marks everywhere else. Though still prone to rambunctious outbursts of excitement and chattiness, the timid nature had started developing nicely into passive politeness with everyone, even the once close-friends who had grown distant. The only place Kincade was really themself was the library. After graduating, Kincade would sink entire days in the library and its archive, consuming every piece of history contained within. News articles, journals and diaries, letters and cards uselessly donated after every estate sale.

Eventually, ends had to be met and Kincade had a mind to do some sort of work to stretch their inheritance a little further, maybe even save up again for personal purposes. Kincade doesn’t remember the first time someone bought something from them, but pretty soon, people knew of their ability to restore antique items. When it wasn’t a commission to repair a piece of heirloom furniture, it was an offer to buy one of the far-too-many furnishings in their house, and the money came in easily. Taking a gamble on what they’d saved and the last of their inheritance, Kincade leased the storefront for their new shop, For Keeps. It was small throwback to one of the many times Kincade’s mother had gently given back something they had found. “For keeps,” she’d say, and it would find itself stashed on one of the many shelves in their room.

Now years down the line, Kincade lives life on autopilot. The town has its comings and goings, but they don’t pay much attention. They go to work, go home, find items as they always have out in the world, repair them, bring them in to sell, go to the archive to look into disappearances in Pleasance’s history, go home, go to work…

And really, Kincade is unsure what’s keeping them here. The community college would be a good place to start, it would help their business at least to get a degree, but better yet, it would offer them the opportunity to leave Pleasance. And yet, something about it doesn’t feel right. Like the destination is wrong, so they can’t even step down the path. People are nice enough, but they talk, and more than anything, Kincade wants to not be “the boy abandoned by his parents.”

Headcanons:

Kincade is quite good with their hands, but woodworking and fine jewelry are their favorites. One scratches the itch to be active, the other to be hyperfocused.

Absolutely has ADHD but has no idea and functions just this side of well enough that no one else notices. Had a lot of their more dramatic behaviors suppressed through punishment in the school system as a child.

Absolutely obsessed with trying to understand what could have happened to their parents, convinced that they were not abandoned.

Doesn’t believe in the ghost stories around town, but also doesn’t not believe.

Reads quite a bit, somewhat old-fashioned with technology. Whip smart at learning new things nonetheless, just doesn’t particularly prefer it.

Something of a loner. Kincade makes fast friends with plenty of people, but it isn’t very deep and they tend to fail to become anything more because Kincade, for whatever reason, doesn’t put the time and effort in to cultivate it.

The silver pocket watch they found as a child is the only thing they haven’t sold or refurbished. It’s constantly on their person, along with a small silver key that once belonged to their mother, though they have no idea what it goes to.

Prone to moments of overly-excited talkativeness. If prompted to discuss one of the few things they care greatly about, all social mores go out the window for at least a few minutes, until such time as they remember themselves and settle down with a quiet apology.

Has never had the sense of being followed, but has also never felt truly alone.

you’d like to stay in heaven but the rules are too tough (Melvin and Ben)

Mel’s room fits into his luggage too easily. He thought that enlisting Hanna and Gretchen from two apartments down to help him pack, to put his closet in a trunk and his bed in a suitcase, he thought that would make things a little easier. But it’s only been three hours, and now he’s done. There’s nothing left. His spaces are blank: he can see the wall where there used to be photos, and the foot and a half of baseboard in the living room where his typewriter had sat under the window, and the window where his curtains used to hang. The space in the corner of the bedroom where his clothes had always piled up is just hardwood, now. They’d never had much, but now half of it is missing.

He leans against his doorframe and wipes the sweat off his forehead, taking in the ways things have changed. It’s not that half of it’s missing, he realizes; it’s that half of it is still there. There are still sheets on the bed, because someone’s still going to need to sleep here tonight. All of Ben’s clothes are hung up, neatly spread out over exactly half of the closet. The desk is still covered with his notes, and the lamp Rose had given him is still on the bedside table. If it was completely empty, maybe it would be easier.

Someone in the living room puts on a record. Not one of his. Melvin only has three, and they’re all under the haphazardly folded shirts in his steamer trunk. Funny, sometime in the last six years he forgot how to distinguish which things were his, and Ben’s, and theirs, together. Ben had divided everything for him. He pulls a cigarette out of his pocket and walks down the hall in search of a lighter.

He’s barely set foot in the living room when Hanna appears, shoving a glass into his hand. “We decided to throw you a going-away party anyway. I’m sorry, I know you didn’t want one. Everyone’s coming over. Well, not everyone, but-”

“Everyone.” Melvin takes a long drink and almost chokes- whiskey, and it tastes mostly like tobacco but a little like bonfire smoke. If he closes his eyes even long enough to blink, all he can see is a bar inlaid with gold and a piano that lost its bench in a barfight and a stage you can barely stand on. “You brought this?” he asks.

Hanna shakes her head. “Ben said a friend sent it from Paris. He’s just in there, you can ask him which one. You’ve got a lot of friends, Mr. Cohen. I wish I had half as many friends as you.”

He stumbles through a smile as he pushes past her and into the living room. There he is, his legs up and over Melvin’s spot on the couch, reading. He doesn’t look up. Not even when Mel sits in the armchair across from him. Maybe he’s trying to make things easier, or maybe he’s taking his own advice, trying to fit in all the falling-out-of-love into as little time as possible. Whatever the reason is, Mel wishes he would see how stupid it is. How absolutely stupid the whole thing is and how little it’s helping.

“Who sent it?” he asks.

“Olivia. She had a few bottles left. I called and asked two weeks ago.”

“I thought you hated sentiment.”

“You don’t.” Ben purses his lips and stares at his book.

Silence. Well, silence besides the music. Usually music means talking, or another drunken dance lesson, or a quiet game of dice where the only words exchanged were scores and insults from the loser to the winner. He hates it. Melvin hates being quiet, and he hates the idea of only having half an apartment’s worth of shit to take across the ocean. 

“There’s still-”

“I might have to leave the party early. There’s a meeting tonight. It’s the only time everyone could get off work without it being suspicious.”

- time to get a second train ticket. Room at the place in Brooklyn. Time. Room. “‘S fine,” is what Melvin says instead of those things, and he gets up to pour a second glass of whiskey.

Five Tips for Storing Your Gown before the Wedding

Finally secured your dream gown?

Chances are you still have at least two to three weeks before your big day arrives or in these times of quarantine maybe even an undetermined number of months. Which means you have to find a place to store your gown that will keep it in pristine condition?

The hunt for the perfect gown is discussed often, but how to properly store a gown is usually left out of the conversation. It’s an important step that should be included in any dress instructions that accompany a gown for pre and post wedding care.

Nobody wants to have any irreversible stains or snags pop up on their gown so close to their wedding day.

So, we’ve listed five tips below on how you can properly store your wedding gown before your trip down the aisle!

Correct Packaging Is Important

If your gown arrives in any form of plastic, even if it’s only a small portion of the bag, remove it immediately. If you need to leave your gown in the plastic because your wedding is only a few days away that’s fine, but if it will be put away for any longer than 2-3 days invest in a garment bag.

Plastic emits fumes that can create yellow stains on your gown and it traps moisture in the bag which may cause mildew to appear. Garment bags keep all of the outside elements away from your gown and give the fabric room to breathe.

Hang Straps Are Necessary

We all might cut off the straps that are sewn into our everyday t-shirts for hanging, but they actually come in handy for a wedding gown. Hanging your gown from these straps will support the weight of your gown and prevent any dents or stretching.

But, you also want to consider the weight of your dress. If it has many layers of thick fabric or heavy beading you may want to lay your garment bag flat instead of hanging it up to avoid any mishaps.

Location, Location, Location

Make sure to store your gown in a location that maintains a fairly constant temperature. A location that is cool, dark, and dry is the most ideal environment for your gown such as a closet, spare bedroom, or under the bed.

Avoid storing your gown in a basement, attic, or garage as they often have extreme changes in temperature and humidity that can cause discoloration in your gown.

Get Rid Of Wrinkles

On the day of your wedding, remove your gown from its storage location and hang it high up on a silk padded hanger. Any wrinkles or creases should work themselves out just by letting the fabric out of its confinement.

But, if on your big day you have one or two stubborn wrinkles in your fabric you can use a steamer to work out any last creases. Avoid using an iron as it can accidentally singe the delicate fabric of your gown.

Whether you’re driving to your wedding venue or flying, make sure to take all precautions. Wrap your gown in acid-free tissue paper, even putting some in between the various layers of your gown to avoid any fabric friction.

7 Cozy Ways to Warm Up Your Home Decor This Fall

Whether you own a cabin in the woods or a house on a lake, or just wish you did and want to channel some of those cozy, curl-up-with-hot-cocoa vibes now that the weather has grown cold, there are plenty of ways to set a more autumnal mood with your home decor.

One advantage to a rustic look is that it’s affordable and easy to pull off—equal parts vintage and second-hand items, inexpensive fabrics, and simple displays.

Here’s some help with colors, fabrics, and fun motifs to ring in the fall season right!

1. Canvas and burlap

Durability is the goal with fabrics in a woodsy home. Seek out canvas, burlap, cotton, and linen for upholstery, curtains, pillows, and more.

“Canvas in particular is a smart way to give your home a cabinlike personality because of its rustic texture and look,” says Marty Basher, a design and organization expert with Modular Closets.

Basher recommends this material on lampshades, tablecloths, ottomans, and even bar stool seats. Or pick up a canvas laundry bag, magazine rack, or tote bags to use for storage and display.

2. Natural colors

When considering paint here, look to the colors of nature. Being immersed in the great outdoors is the idea, so think of earth tones seen in the woods—as well as splashes of color where flowers may be blooming, says Basher.

“True colors (reds, greens, blues) will speak well to this look, whereas pastels fall short except in small doses,” he adds.

Drew Henry of Design Dudes agrees: “I’d go for whites, grays, blacks, red and green shades, and more muted colors, and stay away from anything that’s too bright,” he notes.

3. Checks and plaid

“Many people associate cabins with camping—and this leads to thoughts of picnicking,” says Basher.

A classic red-and-white-checked design, gingham, or plaid are good places to begin in your kitchen and dining areas. Plaid bedding, window treatments, and throw pillows are other ways to express the theme.

But use some restraint with certain patterns, warn the pros.

“Too many checks and plaid looks can be overwhelming and kitschy, so stick to one or two areas,” says Basher. Judicious decor is wise with a cabin theme, rather than turning your home into a literal Y camp.

4. Games and sports

Outdoor activities are classic cabin fun, so bring these ideas inside when considering your decor. Try oars on the wall or used as stair railings or even grouped together to form a headboard. You can continue the motif with framed sailing flags or old life preservers.

“You can go several directions when it comes to themes for a cabin-inspired home, including fishing and sailing if you’re near the water or nature and hunting if you live in the country,” points out Basher.

Henry likes rope designs as cords to accent drapes or a mounted fish on the wall.

Fill the space above your fireplace with old water skis, snowshoes, ice skates, or badminton rackets, suggests Basher.

“Classic board games are another natural fit here—and don’t hide them. Just set one up on a shelf to enhance that cozy, family-gathering feeling,” he explains.

5. Trunks and suitcases

Search your attic, hit up flea markets, and scour yard sales for old steamer trunks and vintage suitcases. Both can be used as decor and storage in a cabin home.

“Look for the ones with lots of landmark stickers all over them,” offers Basher. He also recommends hidden storage like a hollow faux fur ottoman, as well as armoires and hutches to corral supplies and display treasures.

Choose furniture that’s a mix of inherited pieces, estate sale finds, homemade things, and lots of personal history, says Karen Gray-Plaisted of Design Solutions KGP. “These styles help convey a feeling of warmth and relaxation,” she says.

6. Cozy textures

“There really doesn’t need to be a lot of fuss involved in decorating this type of space,” notes Gray-Plaisted. She’s seen cabins and country homes that are very Scandinavian in feel with minimal furnishings, but lots of textures, too.

Ones to consider: chunky knit blankets, cozy throws for the couch, woven baskets, flannel sheets, and soft wool rugs.

7. Animal motifs

Unless you’re an avid hunter, there’s no need to go full-on taxidermy in a cabin home. But animal motifs definitely make sense here and could include antlers around a mirror, as a lamp base, or over a mantel.

Henry suggests graphic pillow patterns or framed silhouettes of bears, rabbits, and foxes.

“Make it fun and whimsical,” he suggests.

THE EXPERIENCE THROUGH THE RETAIL PROJECT

As this is my first retail project that I’ve done it was a nice experience doing the retail project. We had to do a showroom of a selected brand and show it through a model, in two A2 presentation boards, 45 pages or more development book, material board and also a concept model. I was confused when we got the brief on 13th of may. It was something very new to me but I thought that I can manage it. I came with so many difficulties within. Firstly to say is what’s the brand I’m going to choose? Then what is the way I’m going express the design through a model? What are the details am I going include in the development book? What is my concept going to be? What are the materials I’ll be using? How am I going to present it through a material board? so many questions I came up with in my head , but with the help of the lectures and my collegues I could find answers for everything.  

Firstly I would like share the experience I came up with choosing the brand. Firstly I started researching about all the brands which was given to us and from the conclusion I choosed Prada. The reason why I choose Prada is because the way they express their style is different. And the technology used is also different. Specially the places like in the trial room, customer card, staff device, closet display, magic mirror, and also the data infrastructure. I also tried researching about the history of Prada which is in briefly, it was found  in 1913 by Mario Prada, [miuccia prada’s grandfather] and his brother Martino as a leather goods shop – Fratelli Prada (English: Prada Brothers)  in Milan, Italy. It  was an exclusive, stylish store, the shop sold leather goods and imported English steamer trunks and handbags. It  is a brand that rewrites the rules of fashion, respecting the classic traditions of quality and attention to detail, but mixed with a constant urge to move forward and experiment. The fusion of tradition, innovation and constant strive for perfection in material and ideas makes Prada unlike any other brand in the world of fashion. Prada Perfumes keeps this spirit alive in the world of fragrances. They also sell Prada watches, sunglasses and many more.

Afterword I would like to share the experience I got through the development book. Firstly to say I learnt many ways how to present a d-book with a proper way. It was a bit hard to complete it but had a great time doing it. It was tough to get all the details to an attractive process but I was able to achieve it. I had to drag till the last moment of the day before the submission because it was the main thing which everything was recorded. The research for the development book showed me different ways of researching through th internet mainy and then through books too.

Meanwhile I had also to start my model making. Model making made me a bit easier because I already had my first experience for model making in another module before. But it was a bit challenging in making the furnitures for the model with proper dimensions and in a designed way. It was a kind of hard to get the actual style of prada but I was somewhat able to do it. And also I wanted to make some changes in the showroom which I wanted to attract people by adding colours to it. Because people get more attracted to colours. But I had to change my decision because prada is simple and luxurious. I had to face many problems with making changes.

After that I had to do my renders for my presentation boards which took me a long time in front of the computer. I had a way of expressing my style on the mind which I didn’t have anything on my plans so the renders gave the perfect picture it wanted to be. Though this was my first presentation board I was able succeed in it and I was happy in it too. For the explanation of the retail project my presentation boards helped me a lot. It was a last moment work because I got a lot of tie for printing though it was late it came very successful and I was very happy because this was my first presentation board and I will never forget the way I suffered to make it successful at the end.

I would also like to share the way I had to choose my materials. I had put a huge effort in succeeding it. Material choosing took me a long process which took me weeks to search it. I also wanted to choose materials according to the background of the site is situated and to match up with the materials used in the main showroom in milan, Italy. It was a hard experience to match both the background of both. But successfully could achieve it. I went to get all the materials all the way around to nugegoda, armour street, borella and some other places too.

Finally I also struggled with coming up with a concept because this is the very first time I had to build up a concept. It took me days to comeup with a concept. But at last I came with a concept which is FREEDOM OF CREATION which means create your own style / freedom of creating your own style.

Therefore, I had a great experience of doing my first project which is the retail project and gained so much of happy after finishing it successfully. I would also take this opportunity to thank my parents, lectures, friends and everyone who supported me for making this project a success.
