This community I’ve built has been so incredibly generous to me over the years. Part of me feels I don’t deserve to ask for another thing. But I am facing desperation and I don’t know what else to do.
I’ve had a rough couple of years. First, my beloved corgi, Otis, passed away. Then my mom’s health took a turn. I had to take care of her all on my own. And eventually, COVID took her from me. Then my dad’s body began to fail him. I had to be his full-time caretaker. I had to watch his body and mind slowly deteriorate until he finally passed away in March.
I wish I could just take some time to mourn my parents and heal my soul…

But life decided against that.
We tried to make plans so that I would be taken care of after my father’s death. That I would be able to stay in our family home for as long as I desired. But those plans are falling apart at the moment.
Lawyers and probate and debt collectors, oh my.
There is a chance we can get everything sorted, but all indicators show that it could take a while before that happens. Possibly a long while. And my disability payments aren’t even enough to cover the mortgage–much less all the other bills and expenses.
I need to buy time.
Literally.
I need to extend my financial runway long enough to get things sorted. The longer that runway, the better the chances are I can figure all of this out.
I need time to sell all of my parents’ valuable belongings. I need time to fix up our very large separated garage so I can rent it out as a workshop or storage. I need time to fix up the house so it is suitable for a roommate. And I need time to work with social security so I can possibly find financial independence for life.
Unfortunately, without that time, I could face homelessness. I’m sure I could find a place to stay for a while, but I would lose the only home I’ve ever known. The home my mom and dad spent a lifetime fixing up and perfecting. The place in this world I feel most safe and comfortable.
I’ve already lost so much recently. I’m not sure I could bear losing my home as well.
If I lost my home I’d probably have to live on couches for up to two years until government housing was available. And then I’d have to spend the rest of my days in a small single room apartment. I know there are people who would feel lucky to have that, but I’d really prefer to stay in my house if possible. And I don’t think anyone would blame me for wanting that. Especially when all I need to make that happen is a little time.
So I am asking all of you to help buy me some time.
Every $1200 equals another month I have to sort things out. I honestly don’t know how much time I need. I would hope 3 to 6 months would be enough. But the wheels of bureaucracy can move frustratingly slow. So the more time I have, the better the chances are I can save my home and secure my livelihood.

The office bully at my old work is finally leaving and now I have to grit my teeth and mention to my old boss that I'm not actually enjoying my new job and that I'm technically qualified to apply for the bully's position.
On one hand, I'm super desperate to return to that office ten mins from home/my doctor/my dentist, which is walkable in bad weather, is in the same street as my mortgage advisor and positioned between a Sainsbury's and a McDonald's.
On the other, he probably already has her replacement lined up and even if he doesn't, she blocked my progression for 9 years out of spite and will definitely tell him I'm not suitable if she finds out I'm gunning for her job.
This is so cringe arghhhh! But it's been 5 months and I'm still deeply missing all the way things were easier arghhhhhh!!

Twilight actually nodded at the outrageous claim that her seal was needed to be sure that she got her tax cut.  “It does, in fact, assure that, true.  However, the primary reason is simpler.  I send my agents to the address to determine whether the siezure or eviction is properly justified.  If it is, besides getting my seal to go ahead, I try to see that the evicted ponies are taken care of.  I do not want to have homeless ponies in Ponyville.”
Ex judge Horsefry snorted, “What do you do if you think it ain't justified?  Leave some poor landlord stuck for mortgage payments or property repairs?”
“They already are, MISTER Horsefry.  That is required to be in EVERY lease or rental contract.  A condition required to collect any rent or payment is that the property be maintained in a condition suitable for the intended use.
“In the past, the Crown investigation has uncovered many instances of evictions of tenants for requesting that REQUIRED repairs or maintainence be made.  That is illegal and those evictions were stopped.”
Horsefry stompped angrily, “That fool bleeding heart way of handling trivial things has cost Sir Snobbin Realty thousands of gold bits!”
It was Princess Luna who smiled like a shark about to bite!  “I am so happy to hear that eviction is such a trivial matter!  Bailiff, would you please serve this formal notice of eviction and property seizure to mister Horsefry?  Princess Twilight's seal is not required as it has both Celestia's and Mine.”
“What!? You got no grounds for seizing my home!”
Princess Luna snorted, “425 reasons, actually.  According to this report, that is how many seizures or evictions you pulled this post dating stunt on.”  She paused to swig some coffee and take a bite from a chocolate croissant with strawberry filling before continuing, “Each one is a count of Criminal Judicial Misconduct.  Those each carry a fine of one hundred golden bits.  Add in your portion of the damages to the Carousel's property and restitution to the assorted dancing mares that you had a direct hand in robbing and you owe just over three fourths of a million golden bits.  Seven hundred sixty five thousand four hundred and forty six golden bits, to be precise.
“According to your tax records, your total value of all assets combined is only fifteen thousand two hundred and seventy four golden bits.  Of course, it is always possible that you lied on your taxes but even if you did, I doubt that you have the necessary funds to pay what you presently owe.  Your house, lands and accounts will be set against your debit.”
“Um, Princess, I had no hand in the destruction of the antiques.  Reverend Tightcollar ordered that.  Anything connected to them should be dropped.  As for the claim that the dancing mares are due any restitution, I deny that.  They got that money by acts of lewdness. Ponyville cannot allow such behavior to be rewarded.”
Twilight lifted a paper and glanced over it before she spoke up.  “I have witness statements that contradict what you have just said. Specifically, the statements of the subverted officers concerning the illegal raid on the Carousel.  They all unanimously agree that you personally told them to not only carry out the raid and arrests, you told them to smash the door pane and the cash register.”
“I was only relaying Reverend Tightcollar's orders.”
Twilight intervened, “I am sorry but we did make clear at the beginning that no such defense will be accepted.  You were a willing part of the chain of command unless you can show us otherwise.”  She returned to her chocolate and strawberry Bismark and warm coffee.
It was Princess Luna who pointed out, “Simply because you disapprove of how another makes their living gives you no right to take away their legally earned or acquired money or goods.  What the dancers do was and is legal.  The taking by force of their earnings under any pretext is theft.  THAT IS ILLEGAL.  The dancer's restitution order stands.”
Twilight's reaching hands found no more of her favorite treats and settled for a vanilla topped twist.  Before biting into it, she stated, “So far, we have been hearing from the big fish.  I want to hear from the bottom of this food chain.  What do the officers have to say for themselves?  They did the actual raids.  We can always get any of the dancers, Pinkie Pie, Rarity or Kin to fill out what they tell us.”
Celestia snorted into her coffee!  “We need to get Pinkie here anyway! Those butterscotch treats seem to have evaporated!”
Luna, putting away her Magic Net mirror, chuckled, “Taken care of, Sister!  She was at the Carousel with a friend helping out on the costumes.  She is now hard at work replacing all of our snacks!  I told her to bring Kin with her when she makes the delivery.”
Rarity, Kin and Minty were hard at work, getting the new costumes made. Pinkie put away her Magic Net mirror and bailed for the kitchen!
“Kin! They just called from the trials!  We need to make up more snacks! All three Royals and Judge Coldheart are out of favorite snacks and are reduced to drinking dime store tea bag brew!”
Kin yielded her place at the new sewing machine and joined Pinkie in the kitchen!  She snickered, “Dime store tea bag brew?  I did not realize that anyone hated the Princesses that much!  Are they trying to assassinate them all?”
Pinkie looked up from stirring up bowls of fillings and toppings to agree, “It sure sounds like it, doesn't it?”
Soon the whole Carousel was filled with the lovely smell of deep frying goodies!  As fast as Kin could get them cooked and drained, Pinkie was shooting them full of all sorts of sweet fillings!  Rarity, having temporarily abandoned the costumes, was dipping them in toppings and Minty was boxing them up, being sure to label them according to which Princess preferred what kinds.
As Pinkie and Kin loaded the delivery cart, including three huge urns, one of regular coffee, one of hot chocolate, and one of Rom black tea, Rarity and Minty looked each other in the eye, and nodded silent agreement.  They began to cook up more goodies for themselves!

If things are not happening the way they were meant to for you, then remember that you are the only one who can actively change that. Give your partner an ultimatum—if you’re not at least moved in together in six months you’re leaving. Honestly *I* would dump him flat out because I cannot abide people who are in debt to others and I believe that shitty past choices are a major indicator of character and how the future will unfold, at least where money is concerned. If he can’t be trusted to manage his money wisely as a single young adult, imagine having a family. This probably sounds heartless, but much as you love him he may not be suitable for what you want/need out of life and you should think, “In sixty years when I’m on my deathbed, if I continue living the way I am now, will it be the biggest regret of my life?”
Well, there's a lot more nuance to it than I made it sound. Neither of us want to rent, we'd rather buy a house together -- and we told each other we're in it for the long haul. No timeline set, but I am aware he wants kids one day and I've very much made it known I'm open to the idea of marriage. He doesn't like to plan the same way I do, it gives him anxiety. Meanwhile my planning habit helps ease my anxiety.
The situation is that five years ago he bought a house with his childhood best friend, they may as well be brothers. That means he has bills and half a mortgage to pay, while I have never moved put of my childhood home (I know it's fucking pathetic, let's just move on). Therefore, I have more saved up although I make less than him annually.
Financially, it is literally impossible for either of us to move out, because neither of us have a lot saved. And on his end, he would need to find another roommate so his buddy doesn't get fucked over on the house payments.
I'm really fucking frustrated that he did this, but it was three years before we met so a future with me wasn't in the picture. I really tried talking yo him about it last night, and his anxiety kinda made him snap at me. He said the idea of moving house too soon freaks him out because, let's face it, he made a dumbass move even buying that property.
He says he DOES want yo move in with me, but no sooner than a few years from now when hopefully the hoysing market is better.
So, that's why my life plans are on a delay, as are many other young couples. I just don't know what to do, and the frustration has had me on the verge of tears all day at work.

Personal Shit...
So…personal shit time. As some of you know, my wife passed away last year. Cancer is an unforgiving evil bitch! For almost 20 years, we lived in a 3000 sq foot, 4 bedroom, 2 ½ bath, two story house. One of the many lessons I learned over the last year, is that not only was the house bigger than I needed, it definitely wasn’t suitable for someone with an illness or disability.  Since it’s just me and the dog, I decided to sell the house and find a smaller house, with only one story. The real estate market is insanely stupid and I figured (rightly so) that my house would never be worth more than it was in the spring of ’22. I interviewed several realtors, and settled on what I hoped would be a good one. Again, I picked correctly. Maria the realtor did a great job of guiding me thru the process of selling and buying. My house went on the market on a Thursday night in April, and within an hour I had two offers for over list price. By Saturday night, I’d showed it 14 times, and on Monday I accepted an offer for almost $20k over asking.
While that action was happening, I was searching for a new home and was lucky enough to find the perfect house, only a mile and half away from where I’d lived. I made an offer, and it was accepted!
Before most pro sports went ”woke”, I was a huge baseball fan (Chicago Cubs). I remember the 2012 team that started the tanking and rebuild that would ultimately culminate with the 2016 World Series Championship. I thought about that a lot at the start of this year, and realized that I was going thru my own “rebuild”. So I started tearing down my life, and taking the steps to eliminate anything, any possession, that wasn’t going to help me move forward with a new life. Nearly six months later, I’m about to move in to my new home, paid for in cash (no more damn mortgage or useless HOA!!!), and I’m ready to start phase 2 of my personal rebuild. I’ve been reminded during this process about the Phoenix Bird, rising from the ashes so in recognition of that, I added a Phoenix tattoo to my left forearm. I can look at it and be reminded of where I’ve come from, what I’ve overcome, and where I’m going.

Page 1 & 12. --- Join With Co-operative Federation Recently Inaugurated ---- AFFILIATION LIMITED --- Retain Identity and All the Privileges and Powers Unimpaired ---- TORONTO, Dec. 2— Still retaining their Identity and all their privileges and powers unimpaired, the United Farmers of Ontario today conclude their annual convention after last night settling a long debate on the question of affiliation with the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation — a debate which ended in the convention by an overwhelming majority voting in favor of the affiliation.
Today, however, repercussions of their action are expected for many of the delegates expressed themselves dissatisfied at the action of the convention prior to adjournment  and declared more would be heard about it.
But as matters stand now the party is affiliated with the Dominion's newest political body. It joins the Federation with the stipulation the Farm Party retain its identity and privileges and powers that the principles of constituency autonomy with respect to direct political action be retained and that the affiliation be limited to the declared policy of the United Farmers of Ontario.
Valuable Supporter Even at that, the Federation gained a valuable supporter last night. It added Ontario farm organizations to its list of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Labor Party of Quebec. And expects the next convention of the Alberta Farm Party will vote for affiliation too.
Spurred into action by the fiery oratory of Agnes MacPhail, M.P., Southeast Grey, William Irvine, Wetaskiwin, Alta.; Robert Gardiner, M.P. and its president, R. S. Scott, the convention finally got down to business and passed the resolution with a surprising lack of opposition at the last minute. Even staunch supporters of the affiliation were astonished at the ease with which the ultimate decision was made and Miss MacPhail, who had stalked out of the meeting in disgust at the lack of action, was waiting anxiously outside the hall when the show of hands was brought about.
Surprising Strides The Federation has made surprising strides since its formation in Calgary last August. Seeking as it does to bring about a fundamental social reconstruction it has rapidly spread its doctrines through Canada It advocates among other things socialisation of the banking, credit and financial system; establishment of a planned system of social economy; security of tenure for farmer and worker; equal economic and social opportunity; encouragement of all co-operative enterprise; socialisation of all health services; and believes the Federal Government should accept responsibility for unemployment and tender suitable work or adequate maintenance.
During the day the convention also telegraphed Premier R. B. Bennett urging immediate action to inflate Canadian currency at least to parity with the British pound sterling and plans to circulate petitions throughout the province to the same end. It also passed a resolution asking the Government to prevent foreclosure and eviction of owners of homes and farms for failure to pay interest on mortgage.
LEADERS COMMONWEALTH MOVEMENT J. S. WOODSWORTH, M. P. The Co-operative Commonwealth Federation movement born a few months ago in the west has hoisted its banner in the east. J. S. Woodsworth, M. P. (above) told a Toronto audience that “We differ very distinctly from the Communists in that we believe in a revolution in a peaceful and orderly manner."
MISS AGNES MacPHAIL, M.P. Who spoke in favor of the new CCF movement at Toronto and who advocated the union of the new party and the United Farmers of Ontario and who recommended that her hearers repeat the word “revolution" a hundred time so as to become familiar with it.
