The Berlin titan last graced these parts back in 2009, filing a muscular FACT Mix entirely in keeping with his reputation as Berghain’s bosher-in-chief. The last five years have seen him consolidate his reputation as a standard bearer of refined, take-no-prisoners techno; his eight-hour-plus sets continue to shake Berghain’s foundations, and, although his output has slowed substantially, he’s still found time to knock out the occasional release on Ostgut Ton. His Klockworks label continues to tick along, too - new releases from fellow FACT mixer Trevino and Etapp Kyle are imminent, plus, if a forthcoming stint of “studio time” comes good, potentially more new music from Klock himself.
Those expecting pulverising 4×4 might be surprised by Klock’s sophomore FACT mix – a “deeper, dreamy” collection, bookended by two vintage ambient tracks and shot through with wonder. Unreleased Klockworks material features, as do cuts from the likes of Function, Ben Sims, Surgeon, Orgue Electronique and Lucy. The mix is a studio-recorded affair – something Klock sees as a very different kettle of fish to playing out: “Club mixes are obviously more spontaneous and capture the vibe of a specific night, while working in the studio offers other possibilities like re-editing tracks and layering tunes more precisely, which I’ve done a lot of that here.” Set your watches…

K-State's own Legend of Zelda: The ferret who got a pacemaker
By Nick Viviani
Jan 31, 2017
The legend of Zelda just keeps on ticking.
Veterinarians at K-State broke new ground for the university's Veterinary Health Center and gave an Olathe ferret named Zelda a new lease on life. The university says the specialists performed the Health Center's first-ever surgical implant of a heart pacemaker in a ferret.
"Zelda's case was a great example of a group of us here at the Veterinary Health Center working together to solve a case that none of us could have tackled on our own," Louden Wright, an intern at the Veterinary Health Center who specializes in wildlife and exotic animals, said.
According to K-State, the battery in it is expected to last about ten years, which should allow Zelda to enjoy a normal ferret lifespan. Pacemakers are getting more common in other animal species, but very rare with ferrets.
"It takes a very special pet owner to be willing to provide this level of care," Veterinary Cardiologist Justin Thomason said.
Thomason, Clinical Associate Professor of Small Animal Surgery Emily Klocke, and Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology David Rankin performed the procedure.
"Dr. Klocke's work was truly magical," Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine David Eshar said. "There are only a few millimeters of space within the heart's wall for suturing the leads from the pacemaker. The pacemaker is the same as what would be used in a human patient, but we had to order a special set of leads for Zelda."
The leads are the wires that deliver the energy from the pacemaker to the heart muscle, they explained.
"This was the first time I had ever performed this particular procedure on a ferret, although I have performed it on dogs before," Klocke said. "I was very concerned about how small our patient was and whether I could successfully suture the pacemaker leads to her beating heart without causing severe bleeding."
"Our anesthesia service, led by Dr. David Rankin, was very instrumental in the success of this procedure," she added.
After the surgery, Zelda spent two days in the ICU (playing on a Nintendo, I assume), before she was released back to her owner, Carl Hobi, the University said. Her condition has steadily improved ever since. She's expected to return to normal soon and will come back for a check up next month.
Hobi had started to worry about Zelda, one of his three ferrets, last December when she wasn't eating and seemed to be lying down more than usual. A veterinarian at a local animal hospital gave her an EKG and found Zelda had a very low heartbeat. Hobi was told he should take Zelda to see a cardiologist at K-State's Veterinary Health Center.
Hobi took his business of ferrets to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, over Christmas and Zelda still wasn't doing well. A veterinarian there, Christopher Norkus, who had also been a resident in anesthesiology at K-State from 2012-15, ran some more tests and found "a third-degree atrioventricular block in her heart, which was responsible for the slow heart rate," according to Hobi.
Once they were back in Kansas, Hobi took Zelda to the University where they decided she was a perfect candidate for a pacemaker.

Must discuss the lgbt headcanons for the malcolm in the middle family because I have given it so much thought and I’m simply going silly at this point in my life okay okay so
Hal and Lois are first and foremost very obviously a bi couple. Most people would probably assume Hal is gay based on his booty shorts and him attracting armies of men all the time so when they find out he has a wife they think she’s his beard. He very offended by this because how DARE someone imply that he isn’t madly in love with his wife. Lois finds her gayass husband very attractive so she’s mad about it too. Lois also doesn’t get clocked as often as she uses it to her advantage like if someone says something homophobic she just very coldly mentions shes bi and everyone is like oh god oh fuck she’s gonna start killing and we don’t have popcorn-
Francis I’d say, regardless of whether or not he’s attracted to men, has definitely had gay sex at least once because first of all. He went to a strict military school with all guys who were all horny and repressed and two. Francis lives for the chance to cause some fuckery and being gay would piss off the authority figures so he just laughs maniacally and starts sucking and fucking. It’d be especially funny if he did it to spite Lois because when she finds out she’s just like “…okay? Do you not know this family this is the gayest house on the street” and Francis is just like oh. Yeah. Damn
Reese is gay as hell and everyone knows it except him and no one wants to say anything because he needs to figure it out on his own but it just takes him like. Excruciatingly long to get the hint. The family just starts dropping like the least subtle clues like “oh if a close family member came out as gay I’d be completely fine with it so Reese *cough cough* if you ever need to talk to me” and Reese is just like :D lol what
Malcolm is tricky because he’s the most likely in the family to be straight I’d think but I think he thinks about it a lot in a healthy way and he comes to the conclusion that he won’t confine himself to a strict label but he’s mostly just into women. And hes pretty satisfied with that. Then like years later he just gets hit right in the face with the biggest gender crisis you’ve ever seen
Dewey has known he was gay his whole life and he’s just like yeah okay I’m gay that’s nice. And hes just normal about it just living his life it’s just as natural to him as breathing and then as a teen he gets asked about girls and he’s just like OOPS I FORGOT I HAD TO COME OUT but he’d stop himself from coming out and he would like. Just be extremely neutral to any questions about his love life cuz he wants to see if his family and friends can actively figure out if he’s gay. They can’t they all think he’s incredibly straight one time Dewey just had a boyfriend and he wore rainbow clothes just to see and nobody noticed so he just accepts his curse
Nothing left to say but I just wanna remind everyone that Hal and Lois mean everything to me they are so valid 🥰
