Honestly though I think it’s really a bad sign when I look at Shin Tsukimi and literally feel like he’s a self insert 😩
#the klock keeps ticking#yttd#i wanna replay yttd so bad but i also like Gotta play other stuff with the time i have akskks#but yeah the brainrot this specific character has given me idk if I ever really talked about it but it was BAD#i like obsessively played the game in like 3 days and it was not a good idea lol but just like shin#i had to take like a week to recover from this guy cuz i couldnt stop thinking about him and how hes just like me fr#first off just the very inconsistent personality hes got going on that is very me he has these different personalities he wears to cope with#all the traumatic shit happening hes both so helpless its comical and so manipulative its terrifying#and idk its really interesting how like good and bad he is at being manipulative like hes very smart and can analyze weaknesses and lie so#good not even he knows the truth but hes also grasping at straws he doesnt think things through at all#like the second main game he just didnt prepare at all hes fumbling his way through everything its going so bad#he just wants to go home he wants to outdo the game makers but hes being used by them so bad he wants it to STOP#and its just the way that like. it hits so hard cuz you know hes really not a bad person not at all he doesnt want any of this hes just#being horribly manipulated and doing whatever he can to survive but its also really scary how#well hes able to lie and manipulate and claw his way through but hes also weaker than a grade schooler#and you never forget that either and as much as he cheated his way through he still failed it was all just a cheap trick in the end#and all of this hits very hard like his personality is eerily similar to mine and just the way he thinks and acts#cuz im the same like im weak and a dweeb who likes funny cats but im also emotionally detached and observant and selfish#but where it hits the hardest is his relationship with midori like oooof that one was too real just like#the first person who was ever his friend was horribly abusive and treated him like a child and didnt respect any boundaries#and he just got sick pleasure out of seeing shin be upset and he was like. a groomer#and shin was fucking relieved when he died but also kept his scarf and adopted his personality to survive#and still goes by sou after ch2 and the scene that gets me the most is when shin ai is asked about his relationship with midori#and you can just SEE how horrified shin is because his deepest shame his abuse is being shared to everyone without his consent#and hes reliving it all in that moment and literally seeing who he used to be experiencing the abuse#he just curls into himself and like covers his ears and pulls his hair thats literally what i do AAAAAA#im just so grateful for the direction they took this character kokichi ouma wishes he was shin tsukimi so bad#and yeah just like damn. its scary how similar i am to shin like damn i really am going through it huh oof#I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I WILL DEFEND HIM WITH MY LIFE HE DID ALL OF THAT STUFF YOUR HONOR BUT LISTENNNN#have you considered that hes cute and smart and weird and maybe just needs friends who arent assholes

Are you open to yandere themes for Sniper or Scout but uhmmm uh uh. In reverse. So like, the reader is the one being a creep?
ooooh this is a really unique idea! idk if i really wrote this right as i'm used to writing this the other way around haha. likes are appreciated.
sniper would pick up on your behavior quickly, he already has a heightened sense of...well...everything. nothing is getting past mick especially if you've been hanging around him often. he thinks of himself as a "scary dog" that should be feared by everyone. he's chased off scout, drunk tav and a curious and worried dell about micks' distant isolating behavior. a man of many tales of cannibalism and murder would be a warning to anyone with a brain. these stories interested you more in the bushman which caused you to hang around his van more, inquiring about the decapitated animal heads hanging outside and was given a speech about the details about the rabbits foot hanging above his rifle mount.
likewise, mick would take in interest in you for being brave enough to stand him and not hide and reject (from) him, yet, don't expect him to actively seek you out. if you make an effort to see him then he'll accept you with open arms.
"it's just his culture, he's not a bad person."
"sweetpea, i think he's not good for you. i mean, he's got a deer carcass and he was skinning it last night." you bore your stare into dell's eyes with no emotion on your face. "he's gon' eat it too." he finished then taking another sip of his beer.
if you end up stalking you for some reason be prepared to be shot, physically attacked or both. he thinks you're a spy or possessed and he doesn't take those threats lightly. you'll learn that stalking isn't the easiest thing to do with mick after he wacked you with the butt of his rifle.
if you write notes, he reads them and then had pyro burns them as he thinks it's scout and tav playing some sick love prank on him.
no matter how hard you try and how crazy you become he simply does not care and thinks he's too "scary" to have you have literally any romantic interest in him.
Tumblr media
scout would be starstruck. he doesn't have the brain capacity to understand that what you're doing is dangerous. he lets you sleep in his bed, share sodas and he'll buy you flowers. he has no clue he's playing into your sick ideas because he think it's natural and normal.
obviously, he likes you too and with you reciprocating those feelings he's completely forgot about miss pauling. he finds it endearing when you pop out of thin air when he's in the gym then he notices that you never work out and you're just
there.
at first jeremy thinks its a bit odd but chalks it up to you just liking him and wanting to spend time with him.
when little notes filled with lipstick kisses and random sweets start showing up on his bed he gets pissed off at first thinking its one of the other mercs "being gay" and calls everyone into a meeting (and even calls miss pauling into this meeting) to express to everyone how "not gay" he is and tells whoever it is "knock it off or you're gonna regret it." you've never felt as stupid as you did right then and knew you had to up your antics.
little by little you begin to get more touchy with him and he gladly accepts.
he really has no idea how dangerous you are and how he's being manipulated. he's just too stupid and in love to see through you.

Astro notes (3)
Tumblr media
Hello, I’m back with a third astro notes. Please disregard anything that doesn’t make you feel good, remember these are just personal observations <3
———————————
* Virgos really are a mess. They will do their best to keep the organized, put together persona, but the mess they’re going through behind closed doors is actually so intense. Whenever I get close to a Virgo, I’m a little shook tbh.
* Kinda unrelated to my normal content, but I really wonder how Dream (the youtuber) is handling the constant attacks to his physical appearance being a Leo and such. He kinda seems unfazed and keeps posting pics of him and videos, but idk. I’m curious how he’s handling it privately.
* I really do love me a fire x earth sign combo. Wether it’s friendship or relationship, I find them so energetic and chaotic lmao. Now, I’m gonna be honest I do think as a friendship, it works better. I also think each person has to have a varied chart in order to work. Someone with too much earth won’t really tolerate the intensity of the fire sign, and vice versa.
* Aries are not only trend setters, most of the time they are the ones to break generational traumas, mindset or traditions. They really, truly, do not give a fuck about what’s been done in the past or “what’s the right way to do this”. Lady Gaga, I believe, is the personification of that. On a personal level, it can definitely get annoying to deal with an Aries, but once you understand that they act that way because they’re trying to better themselves and by extension the world around them, it gets easier.
* Capricorns really fascinate me. I know the stereotypes around Caps is that they’re hardworking, focused on money, overly serious etc. I think part of it is true, but I think it depends on when you do meet them. If it’s before their Saturn return, you might actually meet a version of them that is actually struggling, quite immature, bad with money and overall disorganized. Remember, Saturn is severe and harsh. He doesn’t make it easy for its natives and I think it kind of explains why in the beginning of their lives, Caps are so all over the place. They get it together at one point though, and some become the stereotypical Capricorn.
* Also, on Capricorn, I’ve noticed they don’t really like when people mention their past selves. I mean, no one does, but with Caps it seems even more severe. It’s like they’re trying their hardest to dissociate from that past self that didn’t meet their ideals. I know a lot of Capricorn that even go by different names than their younger self. Crazy.
* Each element has their strength. Fire signs, it’s their will. Air signs, their intellect. Water signs, their emotions. Earth signs, their consistency. In the same vein, that same strength can quickly turn into their worst flaw. Fire signs can get really egotistical when trying to reach their goals. Air signs have a tendency to be condescending and mock others for their emotional reactions. Water signs can use emotional manipulation tactics to get what they want. Earth signs can get often stuck in their ways, no matter how toxic or unhealthy it may be.
* Cancer in 12th makes you despise your emotions, even when you rationally know that “it’s okay to feel that way”. Most often than not, they project that hatred/disdain towards other people and can’t tolerate really emotional people.
* We have to stop thinking that only earth signs and the sign of Leo is an indicator of fame. Sure, they can be indicator, but I do believe that we disregard the many types and layers of fame. Also, the way celebrities will interact with their fanbase and how they’re remembered is important. I truly believe every sign can be famous, but it won’t manifest the same. Is it easier for some signs? Sure. But every sign, using their strength could achieve it.
* Talking about fame. If you really want to achieve it, I think it’d be interesting to use your MC, North node, Mercury, Venus and Rising sign to achieve it. By checking in with your Moon sign needs, you could then regulate the right path for you. Some people truly don’t mind using drama to create traction even if it means hate, while some people could not tolerate it. Anyways, I’ll do a whole other post about it.
———-——————-—————————-
So yea! That’s my comeback y’all. Lmao I’m sorry, life’s been rough. That last retrograde tried to take me outtttt, I swear.
Dolly.

Random ask, do you see similarity between HuaLian and SatoSugu? I've seen some posts about the parallel between them. But as a fan of both ships, I just cannot see the similarity (to me they have really different dynamic)... Maybe, that's because I'm slow and can't see the parallel. What do you think?
I really dont see any? Hualian is very much a “devoted believer and a fallen god” and satosugu is the epitome of “friends to lovers to divorce to enemies to something more” like idk. I could be convinced i guess but i just dont see it
I do love all possible crossovers with tgcf because the world of the novel is just built so well its easy but interesting to manipulate it. They arent similar one bit BUT that being said the motif of tragic fate and consuming the world works very well with Suguru. Like yeah he’s different with He Xuan but those two are the first that popped into my mind if we are talking about similar characters. The whole Suguru being like a black hole, having no limit towards how many curses he can consume just works really well with all that. He’s not a perfect fit, but i am honestly i sucker for the whole “im going to consume the world” idea and they are pretty close to it
Gojo meanwhile is like. Idk. The most similar character you can find is, funnily enough, probably Pei Ming? Like, a renowned honorary all powerful hero, god of war. Has a little protege he is protective of. But Gojo would not be happy with not being a leading character lol. The only ones in tgcf who are the closest to being all powerful are Xie Lian and and Jun Wu, and neither of them are similar to him? Gojo is generally a pretty loose fit into any possible universe cause you genuenly have to change a lot of shit to fit him in, he will never be “an elusive figure we only heard legends of”, Gege did a good job of straight up making a character that changes the world
Doesn’t particularly mix. Going the opposite route of making Gojo a demon, well, he could be Hua Cheng, a lot of shit is similar, but the core of Hua Cheng is the fact that he was a bad omen child and had a horrible childhood because of that. Would be fun to write Gojo in that situation but doesn’t strike a cord, ngl. And Suguru being a heavenly official? Oh he would eat them alive <3
So yeah. Suguru as He Xuan is still real hot though

Season 2 Hot Take - We're Being Manipulated
Tumblr media
Yes I know this is going to sound like a conspiracy theory, but is it really a conspiracy if its true? So, as someone who spent the last four years obsessing almost entirely about Gabriel's character and arc (do not get me started on him in S2) and not much else, I feel like I have a different approach to Aziraphale and his actions. I mean, I'm sorry but I just don't buy the fact that Aziraphale is so deeply traumatized that he would return to heaven just like that. I just don't.
Like, c'mon, season 1 Aziraphale, the utter bastard who straight up lied to God's (metaphorical) face, who got gut punched by some 'bad angels', who was sentenced to death, who tried to talk to God for help and got the run around, merged with season 2 Azirpahale who saw that heaven would just let kids die and not understand why it's bad (also please don't get me started on his 'you really were truly awuful' line, I cannot), who learned the that line between right and wrong is blured and that sometimes graverobbing can be good, who found out he could do magic the real, human way, would not just be like fuck yeah heaven is the good guys let's gooooo. I just don't buy it. And I want to trust that the writing in season 2 was purposeful and for a reason, because I want to trust that Neil Gaiman knows what he's doing (weird plot-device of the miracle block aside of course because idk how that could possibly be explained properly). And one of my friends pointed out to me that season 2 was/felt very influenced by the fandom. So what makes the most sense? That Neil Gaiman would just write some really weird and off-character stuff to match what the people want? Or that he would use the fandom's expectations to influence how they react to a situation and event in order to hide what's actually going on? I mean, look at all the information we're missing.
We don't know what Aziraphale's relationship was like with heaven between seasons (and I'm thinking he had to have some kind of relationship for the Bookshop to still be considered an protected embassy. Because let's face it, vindictive lil heaven isn't gonna keep a triator safe for no good reason).
We don't know the full conversation between Aziraphale and the Metatron (and the fact that Aziraphale's response after the whole Crowley as an angel thing is blocked off is the most interesting tidbit of all. We never actually find out what Aziraphale said, and we know he hadn't given Metatron a real answer before he went to talk to Crowley {yet the Metatron walks in after as if Aziraphale already said yes})
We don't know how and why it was so easy for Gabriel to sneak off after the trial. (Like, I know all the other angels are clueless, but the Metatron has clearly shown himself to have a strategic mind and, let's be honest, he would have seen something like that coming).
There's so much we don't know about, that's being hidden and held back, and we don't question it too much because it's easier to just fill in the blanks with our four years of headcanons and ideas.
And all the posts that Neil Gaiman interact with just further these ideas! I mean, let's face it, he's not gonna like this one because it's too close to the TRUTH (and also because he's busy and there's like a million posts a day but MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE TRUTH)
Aziraphale is a smart character, who knows that heaven is toxic. He's strong and stubborn, and I truely don't believe he's going to just slide right back into that abusive relationship without a Plan. Aziraphale doesn't want to go back to heaven because he knows they aren't really the good guys, but that's the argument he uses because that's the only one he knows how to use. It's his default setting. (and the Metatron is most definitely probably listening in on them so Aziraphale clearly can't say what he actually wants to say, which only contributes to their horrible communication skills).
Aziraphale doesn't need to learn that heaven is in bad shape. He already knows that. But what he didn't know was that he could fix it. He's spent 6,000 years seeing all the cracks in the foundation and not having the power to do anything about it. That's his whole arch in season 1; taking control and doing what he can to fix the wrongs he sees.
But even now the idea that he actually has the power or influence to make the changes he knows are needed is a foreign concept. And the Metatron offering him the job is kind of like Crowley offering him the food. Azirpahale didn't know he could want to actually change things. That he could be the one to put in a suggestion box. He's not going back to learn the hard truth, he's going back to change the hard truth before others have to suffer a similar fate.
Our ideas and expectations were shattered, but that's only because we were coming at it with those expectations. We let them cloud the real story and distract us from the TRUTH.
This whole entire season was a magic act of the highest form using fan-service and shotty writing (dear god please let it be on purpose) as smoke and mirrors. and we're falling for it.
(And while we're on the topic, may I just slip in as an added bonus, Crowley has only himself to blame for Aziraphale thinking him becoming an angel would be a good thing, because how can he expect to go around calling Aziraphale angel all the time and looking at him the way he does and NOT expect Aziraphale to just assume that Crowley thinks being an angel is the best thing since sliced bread????)

what are your neurodivergent headcanons for hq characters?
asdfjhgfds sorry this has been in my askbox for a few days ive been busy w/ Life Stuff TM but anyways ND haikyuu headcanons lets gooo
hinata:
ik bc hes Sunshiney and Loud lots of ppl read hinata as adhd, which i can deffo see, but personally i read him as autistic
hes extroverted and good at adopting introverts (kageyama, kenma, yachi, tsukki) but when u stop to think abt it hes also actually kinda bad at social ques and 'normal' behaviour?? i think ppl dont notice bc hes also rlly nice but hinata is actually pretty blunt lmao
his special interest is literally volleyball cmon now
its canon that he dislikes being in classes too long or doing homework bc he finds sitting still for too long difficult, both me and my autistic older brother used to get up and pace around our classrooms when we were younger
even though hes rlly athletic and has insane reflexes obviously, hes also pretty clusmy and especially bad at judging distances which to me looks like dyspraxia which is really commonly comorbid w/ autism
ive also read a few fics where he has tourettes syndrome w/ body tic and i can deffo see why ppl would hc that
idk hes just reads as autistic so well in my mind like idk why its not a more common take
kageyama:
this one is less of a headcanon and moreso just interpreting the text correctly; hes definitely autistic
like its my belief that furudate either knowingly wrote kageyama as autistic or like based his personality off of an irl autistic person they knew or SOMETHING bc its actually insane how well he reads as autistic
the lack of social skills? the anger issues? the deep special interest in volleyball? the just wanting to express your feelings/opinions but coming off as rude but not knowing how to fix that? middle school being a living hell? having that one family member who Got you? the high level of skill in one particular area? hes literally the texboox definition of autism
even the little things like how he files his nails and jokes go over his head and he accidentally insults ppl bc hes calling it how he sees it and how he basically had no friends growing up bc he was too focused on volleyball and how he struggles to smile on command like!!! thats autism babe!!!!!!
oh also hes dyslexic bc im dyslexic and i say so
ushijima:
same as kageyama i bet he was either knowing written as autistic or based off of an irl person who is
blunt as all hell, monotone voice and facial expressions, volleyball as a special interest, bad at social interaction, accidentally rude, the list goes on and on
like his whole thing about how his left handedness makes him different but is also a gift that benefits him in some ways? thats a metaphor for neurodivergency dont @ me
oikawa:
i hc him as having narcisstic personality disorder, not in the ableist reddit-user 'all ppl w/ npd are evil manipulative abusers' way but in the ' i have npd and know what it actually looks like' way
hiding massive insecurities by acting like youre amazing?? that fuckin marina lyric thats like 'i feel like im the worst so i always act like im the best'?? that was abt oikawa tooru and npd
feeling threatened the second someone as good or better than you shows up? fixating on one specific thing that you have to be the best at? those are npd as fuck traits
the way he can basically get along with anyone and adjust his play style to suit them but only has a few close friendships where he can let his true personality rlly shine through
hes literally so npd coded augh <3
bokuto:
i read him as adhd and having cyclothymia
i think he was unmedicated in high school and unknowingly had depressive and hypomanic episodes which affected his play
he also very much reads as having rejection sensitive dysphoria if u ask me
and the way he talks and bounces around and has All That Damn Energy gives me adhd vibes, esp pared w/ his poor volume control ad the way he ignores social cues lol
okay quickfire round bc im getting tired of typing
atsumu is autistic, so is osamu for that matter, theyre just at very different points on the spectrum and rub each other up the wrong way a lot of the time bc of it
kita is also autistic bc no neurodivergent person is that particular about doing things the 'right' way
hoshiumi is autistic and adhd
asahi and yamaguchi read like they struggled w/ anxiety and depression
sakusa has ocpd and ocd (contamination ocd specifically) and mysophobia
kyoutani has aspd, again not in a 'aspd = violent agressive psychopaths' way but in a 'i actually have a cluster b personality disorder' way, and adhd also
kenma is autistic and has social anxiety
yachi has social anxiety too bc cmon now
tsukki reads to me as having chronic depression, i think i could also make a case for him being autistic too ngl
tendou is some flavour of neurodivergent, probally audhd, probably some other stuff, idk but hes definitely not neurotypical
like hinata, lev reads as autistic to me even tho hes got that goodball energy thatd make lots of ppl read him as adhd bc like,, he just fuckin sucks at social interaction like he is accidentally rude all the damn time lmaoo
fukunaga and aone are both autistic w/ selective mutism and/or partial to moderate non-verbalness
obviously its none of my business and i think having headcanons abt irl ppl is Fucking Weird but i wouldnt be surprised if furudate themself was autistic bc truly so many characters in haikyuu can be read that way if u ask me, although maybe im just projecting lol

So I’m on the last episode of Dead Boy Detectives and it’s a nice little show, overall a fun watch. If you’re just looking for a fun spooky little show with some queer characters, and a strong YA vibe overall. You’ll enjoy it.
That said I’ve got several… notes. Mostly just personal bias so take it all with a grain of salt. And some of its good.
It’s very YA, with the occasional fuck thrown in. Not bad or good, just unexpected.
I’ve seen it said and I’m going to say it again grown ass men detectives. They look no younger than 20. In fact I’m not sure I believe any of the main cast are over 20. Jenny their landlady looks barely older than the “teenagers”.
Niko. I do love you, you are a cringe little weeb-girl. I’ve decided she’s autistic as hell. I’m glad she is learning boundaries. Though, damn what a horrible circumstance to learn them in poor girl, she’s been through enough.
I… was a bit uncomfortable with how much everyone is just trying to force Edwin to come out. There are parts I enjoyed and some that just didn’t sit well with me personally. (In part because he’s a century old ghost and also in the story a teenager… so, idk, I’m conflicted about it)
This point will be called “The issue with the Cat King”. He’s a fucking manipulative fucking prick. Yes he’s hot, he’s also a controlling assholes whose… trying to blackmail Edwin into a relationship? Or something? We will see how that goes down the line, maybe he could be redeemed enough that I could like him -bc actually I’d like to- but… currently I don’t. (Edit: him being terrible may be the intent. So… ok. I’ll think on it)
I’m sad about the unrequited love confession. That’s all. I’m just sad. Like. It’s very realistic. It also… idk this show isn’t itself doing this, but I must say it tingles my latent queerbaiting sense. Again, this show isn’t doing that, however it manages to press all those buttons and I commend them for somehow doing so but not the big QB… but… I was in the trenches of the great queerbaits. I remember, I’m still learning to trust.
Plz. Give Edwin a love interest that isn’t trying to blackmail or manipulate or trap him. Plz.
Yeah no actually it would help me trust more. Plz. He’s already dead and escaped hell. I’m surprised he… actually came out.
Boy did this show need more episodes. Some can do it, and this does. But if it had maybe 12 episodes? It would be really great. This one could actually benefit from some extraneous bs. Just a bit. A dash. They do a good job with what they got, but it is compacted.

i am once again procrastinating my bedtime but i just realised that i never had my final thoughts on the whispering skull! i finished it like a week ago or something. assorted ramblings under the cut
george faking his death by looking into the mirror at the end there got me REAL good. poor eyesight W lmaooo. i am so so so glad lucy made the only smart move possible -- im giving her this position over winkman bc though he was smartER about it than most everyone else it was just base profiteering on his part, which simply endangered someone else further down the line -- in relation to the mirror and smashed its shit in. megacursed mirror deliberately made out of seven ghosts that kills anyone who looks into it for too long and makes everyone who doesnt look into it long enough to die obsess over getting another better look into it is, shockingly, bad news! im still wary of deprac and dont entirely trust them and tbh barnes lucy probably saved your ass from getting mirrored to death by smashing that shoddy piece of shit thing into pieces. so like, thank her. idk, get her a cake or something. i am of course also suitably wowed by how um. literally explosive things got at winkman's auction. did not expect them to blow the whole thing up. and i am glad they were fiiiinally able to work together with kipps' team to mutually save their own asses. it had to happen eventually ofc, but we know the threshold now. amused that lucy got out of this whole ordeal without further meaningfully interacting with another girl whatsoever though things of interest to me:
afaik we did not learn the name of the whispering skull, despite learning the names of like everyone else in bickerstaff's little death cult. i wondered very briefly if maybe the deceased's relationship to ghosts in life is a factor in how their own ghost manifests, vis a vis the type system. even with the skull being the only type three so far, i think bickerstaff decidedly put that idea to bed however. im also beginning to think that particularly old ghosts are more powerful, generally speaking, but thats probably just a survivorship bias?
the skull was marginally helpful to lucy when the chips were down?? genuinely did not expect that, but i suppose it has a more powerful interest in exploiting lucy's ability to commune with it than it does a desire to see her and her friends get their shit kicked in. im sure the skull would greatly enjoy watching all of them kick the bucket in a variety of gruesome and horrible ways, but it has a very material interest here, and it seems remarkably easy to manipulate with the simple threat of being buried somewhere and forgotten forever. much to think about! it makes me wonder if lucy is the first person to be able to hear it... i would suspect, given marissa fittes reporting the existence of type threes, and the fact that george stole the skull from the fittes agency, it may have been one of the type threes encountered by her
thinking on it now, the skull is not, afaict, mentioned to be smaller than an adult human's skull. so despite the skull serving as bickerstaff's psychic protege in life, it seems to not have met its end at the same time or circumstances as bickerstaff. then again, maybe he just started out as bickerstaff's psychic lackey, but proved to be useful enough to hang around for longer than his psychic ability was potent
this really just turned into a list of musings about the skull huh. whoops

Ok I'm trying Legend of Fuyao again. This time perhaps I will triumph! I left off like 2 years ago on ep 26 or so.
Refreshing my memory by skating thru ep 16
oh look, it's sidekick bro I never cared about. Pretty sure his role in the narrative is to be a drag on FL. And fighter guy! He's much more useful.
This period is where I previously began losing my patience with the show. A lot of story time and 16 episodes had passed and I wanted to see FL taking center stage, being a powerful threat. I wanted her to be saving her love interest approx as much as he was saving her. The opening in ep 16 is right back to a situation where I want to see FL beating ass and not Wuji to show up to save the day. Scram, future boyfriend! Ladies are FIGHTING. 🙅
(past me may not have known exactly what I wanted but the answer was A Journey to Love)
It was the whiplash - Oh cool, she's fighting alongside him! ...and then he's knocking her out to be his pawn again :/
But rewatching now, I think I was in the wrong mood. I am older & wiser! I can be patient. I have been promised a battle couple and Fuyao being awesome. I can wait. 😇
Watching the prime minister character be manipulated is entertaining. Fuyao is handling situation pretty well, actually. "The Earth Abdorbing Bell is back to its rightful owner. I've also found Xiaoqi. Why do I need to stay here?" THANK YOU for asking this very pertinent question, protagonist! Her rationale to stay.... doesn't make much sense, unfortunately. Because the narrative (er, the servants) requires it!
"Rest assured? I have been in this office for thirty seven years and I've never had a restful day." idk Mr Prime Minister, maybe u need a new job.
Ok, sneak out and leaving a fake corpse. Not a terrible plan. I especially like the part where u set the mansion on fire.
Prime Minister's foster son is so good looking he's making everyone else in this drama look bad. I like his sullen murder son vibes. Very Hao Du of Long Ballad. MDL says he's basically done nothing since. He was the ML in a 2020 drama that never aired. 💀
I really don't get Wuji. Why is he even involving Fuyao in things. I don't believe he has any romantic feelings at this point. If u can control this nation but can't control her, then... why? I suppose we have to go with ✨fate✨.
Dragon scale armor! Makes me think of the dark tale behind such garb in c-novel Heart Protection.
Why was the doctor randomly lurking around the PM mansion in this dark with a face mask? eh, a man's gotta have hobbies.
Ep 17
So Doctor had a secret mission, ran into Fuyao burning shit down out of happenstance. and now he's dragging her along. I vaguely recall this.
So. Many. Robes. Curtains. Twirling. the twirling I caaaaaaaan't AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hope I wasn't expected to find any of that sexy. It was extra and hilarious as hell, though. I 100% understand why FL is so done with this dude and ready to go home.
Actually, one moment had real dramatic tension and sexual tension for me. The scene where the prime minister shows up with his soliders and ML is sitting on the bed, acting unbothered, and she's hiding under the blanket. Then slides her hand out and sighs to complete the act. 👌 👌
Then things get INTERESTING as they embark on misc mission things in secret tunnels.
She's like holy shit exploitative royals are trash.
And he's all.... well if I'm Like That would you still be hanging here with me. She sidesteps the question (as she should, since he has all the power). But then, could YOU give me what I want? And he seems intrigued, I presume because then he has something over her.. It feels like a TEMPTATION MOMENT.
Fuyao: nah j/k I'll get whatever I need myself
@dangermousie mentioned to me that Fuyao is very complete in herself. That's really intriguing to me, considering how so many of the characters seem tormented & controlled/restrained by a need to live up to a legacy or another person's expectations.
that CGI magic hamster tho
Totally forgot the reveal of them being ~fated enemies is this early. So she is supposed to break the seals and go to five kingdoms to do it. But he has a mission to STOP the girl w the 5 colored stone. Now he has a character & plot reason to keep tabs on her! ✔ (actually he has those reasons to simply KILL her lmao but protagonist halo, sorry my friend)
Love that she's not a sucker and won't agree to a bet where she has to be an obedient servant if she loses. Just take reasonable requests. But I wish she didn't just take him at his word that he's the one who can help her break her seal. He's a lying liar who lies!
I like that he's a bit uncertain/dubious about the legend that this girl will Bring About The End. Because that certainly sounds wild. Especially since he met her and she seems pretty normal.

caved so quick to the 2nd muse impulse o mein gott......throwing sejoon into the mix with another minimal stats page + round two of rambly character intros 😵‍💫 if u are interested in plotting just like this post or add me on discord!! (tip.toph) 🥰
Tumblr media
tw! mentions of terminal illness, death of a parent
only son to 2 anomalies. plain jane working class background
in a past life, dad is still a top tier hardboiled detective who doesn't gotta think about the fact he has a wife and kid at home
in this one, mom is inconveniently out of the picture for......... [vague gestures] reasons and he has to hunker down into single father life fast. ends up opening a restaurant in order to be able to provide
but in spite of all of this his childhood isn't so bad! he and his dad are close despite obvious stark differences in personality, which can be summed up as naive softie vs cynical hardass. even if sejoon's too trusting ways has dad up at night wondering how the hell is this kid gonna survive on his own
also dad: [does the absolute most to keep him shielded and sheltered cause he's Seen Things and as a parent's bare minimum that means letting a kid being a kid. which means shoving things deep under a rug and the default response to any inkling of curiosity being "Don't worry about it"]
until sejoon's anomaly kicks in at 12-13 by making a patron's chair float on accident and his dad's like k. better late than never......
its a little (ok a lot) hard to coach sejoon through controlling his abilities considering dad's own anomaly is not anything remotely close to moving things w his mind (its memory manipulation btw for some hwang fam #trivia) and sejoon is like ): but this is so cool why shouldnt i wanna show it off......
their deeply anti-anomaly district with equally staunchly anti-anomaly neighbors, friends, politicians being a VERY good reason not to: (:
dad: wear this patch thingie. dont ask why just do what i say
(thank god for nullivi huh like seriously)
doesnt stop the bubble bursting with when people realize ur not "human" they treat u different but ykw.........the sun is still shining and the world is much much bigger than their humble slice of daegu for EVERYONE to be that way
sua's open for admissions just around the time sejoon's thinking about higher ed AND broadening his horizons. gets in on arts scholarship and off he goes
baby bird leaving the nest turns fish out of the water. college and seoul are a bit of an adjustment but exciting all the same. and he does thrive! gets involved in the sporting rallies, really developing his artistic vision, has a social life, and gets to be his #true self among fellow anomalies the whole enchilada
things only really go downhill in the last 6 months of his undergrad with 2 wrecking balls: a devastating breakup and (TW: ILLNESS, DEATH) his dad being diagnosed by stage iv lung cancer
its right after graduation that sejoon immediately falls off the face of the earth for 3 years to be his father's sole caretaker until his death (END OF TW) no one i mean no one knows what he was doing or where he is
but hes back now to do his mfa!! let the bella loca where the hell have u been-isms begin
vibe wise hes bright, social, easy to talk to but can also be kind of spacey eccentric and the ultimate pacifist. the type that makes u feel like u guys are sooo close but then when u reflect ur like actually idk if i really know much about him at all (which!! is not totally intentional he just makes for a better listener and is great at making conversation about what YOU have to say). these days that same can do energy is there but it doesnt feel the same if u look too close but its fine!!! everything is fine
plots that are marginally better than the first time around but not by much:
friends who were blindsided by him going mia without warning
friends who are gracious enough (or equally ??????? avoidant? weird even) to pick up where they left off like nothing happened in the first place
people who dont even know who he is so like none of the above for his sob story doesnt even really matter
this is really really limited to one (1) person but somebody who managed to run into him in the three years that he was laying low
will require extensive plotting but the ex......not necessarily endgame but i am in the mood for some bittersweet woulda shoulda coulda's, angst and answering the penultimate question of: why did we break up?
former teammates? i imagine he was part of house samjoko during undergrad
ur a stranger feeling nosy and ur ultimate mission is figuring out where hes been. he lets u speculate
u need someone to do ur graphics. can be contractual pro bono whatevah.......
im running out of steam here but i am open to it all please hmu

Thoughts on a coffee theory
Okay let’s get it out of the way -- it’s not a “debunking theory” post. I do believe that coffee theory based, it got a lot of arguments and evidence, and at the very end its interesting and entertaining.
Yet still I don’t like it  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
1. It’s just destroying any conflict
Aziraphale and Crowley at the end of the season got a very interesting conflict of ideologies. They both don’t like heaven/hell, they both understand that it’s a very toxic “organizations” that hurt people in the same manner the only difference is in the wrapping. They both want to live on earth amongst humans, they want their little lives left alone to do their little human things, sleep, going out, listen to Shostakovich. Yet they can’t be left alone as long as heaven and hell exists and they both know it.
 BUT.
They have different solution to this problem. Aziraphale truly believes he can change the system on the inside, that just one angel with good intentions can change everything. Crowley truly believes that he can always run away, pretend he didn’t see big scary monster so it wont touch him.
And I’d say they both wrong. As one single person could never change non material force of “system”, this person can’t just pretend that everything is fine. They’ll be haunted, they’ll be lonely, never finding a place to stay, afraid of intimacy as any other moment can make them run again.
And how interesting( and good from a writing point) it would be to look for them both to realize they’re wrong and go looking for the third secret thing that finally can put their fears at ease?
And if Aziraphale is just “hypnotized” then it’s all for nothing, Crowley just needs to walk to him, take him by the hand and un-hypnotize him. Idk how about you but for me is a tad bit boring. You can put this plot in one 45 minutes and be done. But ideological differences... Yeah baby, give me some heart wrecking fighting of their sole beings.
2. Juicy religious trauma gone
Religious imagery and religious traumas are gorgeous on their own. Are you fearful of the higher power? Or are you feeling less lonely knowing that there’s someone who’ll always be by your side? Do you like to know that you’re life goes according to plan? Do you feel satisfaction from knowing that your moral codex is “holy”? (insert any themes about cults and systems in here)
It’s so nice to see explorations of these themes in media. AND NOW IMAGING EXPLORING THEM ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE ANGELES THEMSELVES - BEINGS WHO ARE _THE RELIGION_ WHO CAN’T JUST GO AWAY FROM IT, WHO CAN’T JUST BE A NORMAL “PEOPLE” WITH THEIR LIVES WITHOUT IT   And again. If it’s just the coffee -- one session of un-hypnotizing and everything is resolved on it’s own.
3. It’s striping away impact of characters decisions
If its not even a character’s decision - why care? Again, un-hypnotize him and everything is good again, I’m more than sure that if Aziraphale is really drugged Crowley would not hold any grudge and welcome him back as easy as it possibly can. If it inevitably leads to no conflict at all, no arcs, no realizations, no growth, why would I care?
4. LET AZIRAPHALE BE BASTARD
LET HIM BE SHITHEAD, LET HIM BE EVIL, LET HIM BEEEE FOCKEN BITCHHHHHHH
We have soooo many kind moments with Crowley and so little of Aziraphale being absolutely the worst. I can only remember him wanting to kill a kid, but let’s be honest, in that particular situation it was more morally grey.
They supposed to be neither, human like, making mistakes, fixing them. But with the coffee theory it’s almost like “Aziraphale did nothing wrong! Ever! In his life!”  Nah, let him be a lil bit messy, it would bring a fine flavor to this whole mess of situationship
And I saw someone made a point that “Oh Aziraphale WOULD NEVER tell Crowley that he’s the bad guy!!!!”
Yeah but there’s exists thins little thing, y’know, called “EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION”. Aziraphale have being abused by heaven and sadly he took over some of this behavior. For me in this moment he tries to shame Crowley AS HE KNOWS HE LOVES HIM. he wants Crowley to defend himself to say that _he_ is not the bad guy, so Aziraphale can further more prove that Crowley has to come to heaven with him, he want’s him to feel guilty for the feeling Aziraphale has, SO CROWLEY WOULD STAY WITH HIM, SO CROWLEY WOULD BACK OFF AND TRY TO GO BACK TO WHERE THEY WERE AND AZIRAPHALE WOULD NEVER EVER HAS TO CONFRONT THOSE FEELINGS AGAIN.
“Nothing lasts forever” HE DOSEN’T CARE (he does but not in the context of this analysis) ABOUT HIS SHOP HE JUST WANTS TO BE WITH CROWLEY AND HE THREATENS HIM. He says him in the face “We can end at any moment. I can end US at any moment. And you can’t do anything about it” He bluffs and so he shoots himself in the leg
HE LOVES CROWLEY BUT BECAUSE HE STILL IS IN THE POSSESION OF HEAVEN THE ONLY LOVE HE KNOWS IS THREAT AND VIOLENCE
And he even did this kind of the manipulating before!!In the first episode when he tells Crowley that he can leave if won’t going to help him. And he even admits that he said it because he wanted Crowley to help him. So the thing at the ending of the 6th episode is in character!!
And again. Coffee theory would strip this all away. All of this juicy internal/external conflict. Aziraphale is once again just a damsel in distress waiting for her prince to save her.   IN CONCLUSION
I like coffee theory as a bandage to my broken heart. I like it as an idea that would hold my broken spirit after the mess I’ve witnessed. I like it as an entertaining, seeing how people play with this idea in fics.
I don’t like it as a plot possibility
P.S. also this theory means there’s no possibility for us to see Aziraphale’s apology dance AND I NEED TO SEE IT

bons love for bien was pretty much instantaneous when he first saw him so the contrast to portrayals of how bien was treated as a teenager has interesting implications, bon probs gradually started growing distant from him at some point, maybe because of their trauma issues, maybe from how hard it was to handle's bien violence or maybe because of more shallow "ppl don't want children they want babies" reasonings
most likely a mix of different things like that
bons an interesting depiction of a parent because of the stress on how parenthood itself often has unhealthy effects on children, the notes for the tyam mv imply bon is not stereotypically "abusive" and genuinely does what they think is best for bien, and in the "be good" bonus comic bon's behavior is typical of "good parents" - i dont think its unreasonable for bon to want to tell bien off for killing things especially knowing biens future to be freed of exile rests on those expectations
bon has done bad things to bien like the insults for his incompetence, i think what interests me is that bon is not a parent who is abusive because they want control or possession over bien, and wanting him to be freed of exile shows theyre willing to lose bien forever if its for his futures sake
and the hurtful behaviors we see bon do are the things people will say "parents just do", parents mocking their children or not getting to the root of "bad behavior" and failing to emotionally connect to their children for that reasonings is so normalized and people rarely questions, it hurts children or has negative effects on them as time goes on
the trend is seen w/ how parenthood is portrayed in other pairs, jacques's parents to jacques, to an extent even mirasol/ava to the marginals
its showing that parents having so much controls on the autonomy of their children or being unable to deal with children "having tantrums" or "misbehaving" because they dont seriously take their emotions, even if these are "normal" expectations of parents they really hurt children, it shows a relationships of in what ways surviving childhood can be a struggle even with parents who love you and does what is expected of them
idk i think its just an interesting narrative choice, because its easy to have made the parents in the story a more typical idea of "abusive" to justify why their children act that way. i think to see a story where we see how the children develop maladapted attitudes as adults (jacques bien media) "despite" parent figures who were doing their best for them (based on what is "normal" for parents) and not "abused" them AND to actually make the children here more sympathetic than the parents, its not something i really see much if at all. because usually, the parents are written to be worse or to not care about their children, "love" is a lie and manipulations tactic, or the behavior issues are not linked to parenthood so strongly but instead attributed to other traumas as if only "abusive" parenting can harm you
i think with how nd-coded everyone is too its an added layer of how nd children they can struggle because of their parents using parenting approaches even types of therapies etc that are designed to only manage "bad" behaviors but they dont address the reasonings why those behaviors exist. especially with bien (or the demons in general) having traits that i relate to as an autistic person (bien is autism icon)
parent figures are justly criticized but the parent characters arent particularly villainized (even ava who is the bitchiest character is portrayed with "righteousness" when you contrast def-se), because its not a story about how these specific parents fail their children, its about how PARENTHOOD as a role is laden with problems when the goal is for what is "best" for children without considering how those children feel, or how a parents love cant save you when your position in the world is to be treated as someone who doesnt belong anywhere

doing my remedial tf hw [rewatching the ep i feel asleep during]
anyway u can really increase u understanding and appreciation for what goes in to Making A Show Good. by watching bw, arm and en.ergon. which maybe thats not what u want from watching a show. maybe u just want a show that IS good. well too bad.
like okay. bw, late 90s cgi cartoon [an expensive one tho, or so the wiki keeps telling me]. arm, 02 anime but first unified producted between the 2 toys companies. En, 04 cgi anime. same voice cast for all em [as dubbers in the 2nd two]. En being the sequel to arm so they really ought to be the same characters even, tho in pratice its like... ehhhhhh.
like just constantly thinking about, okay what conditions are the VAs performing under, script writers/translators. how that all affects performance
and ofc animation, well does it need fidelity? verisimilitude?? what makes something look cool? or funny? or emotive, or affecting.
and like. these all kinda can just lead u to shitting on en for looking like ass and being made on the fast (and possibly cheap?? idk.)
BUT THEN u also get to think about the designs themselves, which, toy companies. not really remotely the show makers faults [probably?] and in terms of what could have been done to best SERVE the show being made OR the toys in production like. and ill tell u what it wasnt. of making the most bulky greebly design ethos so far and trying o directly translate that as accurately as possible.
cause its just. these 'cell shaded' black outlines behemouths with maybe very little rigging? they cant emote at all. the lip flaps are some kinda 2d thing, and if they need to move their eyes or jaws u know, facial expressiony things, they can add 2d DRAWN shots [not like. more than 3 an ep] for that...
also they dont seem to be doing cgi in the way id think of it like. 3d models in a space with a camera? i think its all or mostly composit? [so they dont get the befits of say, size consistency]
like its kinda notable bw, is the cgi show, and also the era where, there not fucking CARS! theres a lot more... i mean a guy who has two cheetah legs sticking off his back is... weird... but at least his shoulders arent like shot compostionally impedingly wide cause they are the tires and suspension for a truck? u feel? the one character model who IS a vehicle is infact, the stand out for just kinda. weirder, interactable challenges. his sheer Biggness at least IS absolutely reflected as. not a plot point but. story point. he cant inhabite the same spaces as the other characters. they really block out those interactions in a way to show that instead of fudging it.
BUT ALSO like. i dont like the pure like. DESIGNS of arm that much, they DO have a lot, big... hmm i wanna say maximalism [which. lol. not be confused with maximals... which is what u call auto.bots when they are. yes. animals] but its 2d animated with such swag and style [mostly. it was ALSO a rushed production(>_> yikes)] like. the design of what im looking at is SUPERCEEDED by HOW it is presented? ig? or that also they CAN just fudge things. THATS WHAT ANIMATION IS FORRRRR. ohhh who cares what poses this guy could actually make, or how that would effect the camera shot. just kinda. u know. make it cool. make it LOOK GOOD.
and anyway ironies of ironies. a cool picture that is NOT what the toy looks like, but like, at least has its spirit, its probably more likely to make u want the toy, or have. fond appreciation for it lets say. not even getting into like. interesting story and character work that makes/manipulates u into wanting the thing cause like ohhhhhh thats my guy. u know. toyetic media things. bloribofication under capitalism.

Feysand Ramble? Kinda?
You can like Feysand I guess but you can't deny how terrible they are as politicians. (Talking about the trilogy but ACOSF is probably applicable because they likely only got worse as time went on)
The most obvious examples of this centre around Velaris, the CoN and Illyria but the worst examples of this are best displayed in their interactions with other leaders.
During Amarantha's reign it's somewhat understandable for Rhysand to act how he does and for the HLs to be secretive and distrustful esp of one another.
During ACOTAR and half of ACOMAF, Rhysand is an interesting character for his ambiguous actions and morality but once his romance takes off he's really dumbed down in a way and becomes dissonantly self righteous? Maybe it's because we're in Feyre's pov and she's too young and naïve to fully comprehend and reconcile with who her mate is? Maybe it's Stockholm Syndrome? Maybe it's because she needs to internally justify her leaving Tamlin for Rhysand by constantly comparing the two and if Tam bad then Rhys good?? Idk
(God, she's so young, babe you don't have to justify wanting to leave a relationship but mostly it's just sjm retconning and manipulating readers)
But then we're on the precipice of war and Rhysand rightfully recognises that Prythian needs to hold as one against Hybern.
[Something he maybe should have consulted his darling Feyre on before she destabilised and crippled a BORDERING court since they were the most vulnerable to invasion and as a 500yo politician/warlord/HL he would have known that even when his uneducated child bride didn't]
I get that Rhysand didn't wanna risk just asking Tarquin for a sacred treasure because they need it and the request would most likely be rejected but that's ultimately Rhysand's fault. If he could show vulnerability to the mortal queens by showing them Velaris why couldn't he act that way with Tarquin, who extended grace to the NC and its ruler despite everything he'd heard. Rhys could have even asked Helion to vouch for him privately.
Then after everything, Tarquin doesn't get the apology Rhys owes (and almost gives) because - less than one year a Fae, wants respect as High Lady but won't give the same to the High Lord whose Court she's literally in rn - Feyre's ego won't allow it, I guess? I literally don't know. Like she owes an apology as well lol so just apologise??
Especially when you know for a fact that if anyone else came to the NC and not just stole but publicly made a fool of Rhysand or Feyre, they'd start a bloodbath.
[Anyways at the end of the day Tarquin is who "The Dreamers" think they are. He doesn't just say he wants to make his court a better place, he actively tries.]
Rhysand became HL before 30 and (being generous they literally have magic minus 100 years for impact of the first war, minus maybe 60 for UTM) has had more than 300 years to reconcile and fix the CoN and Illyria.
Bro doesn't have a government???? he has
a 20yo co monarch who's assigned desk work even though she probably can't read or write past a 5th grade level and is in a death pact with him??
^ was this on purpose so in the event of his death, his foreign child bride couldn't assume sovereignty lmao
3 nepotism hires
An ancient being with disdain for almost everyone else who he constantly makes tithe to on taxpayer's dime
1 okay city and 1 not okay city
Anyways I'm back on my Rhysand and Feyre Worked Better as Separate Characters bullshit.

OK SO IK I COMMENTED BEFORE. BUT I WILL DO IT AGAIN.
About the starry eyed fic, I LOVE how you portrayed snow. He’s *not* a good person, much less a good caregiver. And GOD the way you had him go like “you want to be good for me right?” And “I thought you were trying to be good.” ITS VERY MANIPULATIVE AND I LOVE IT. I FELT SO BAD FOR SEJANUS BECAUSE SNOW WAS LIKE…idk he was a bit of an asshole and I love how you didn’t really justify anything he was doing, it made it SO much more accurate and interesting <3
and yes, I have officially read the book, it broke me. Planning on watching the movie soon with my family :)
anyway hope this ramble didn’t bother u too much!!
AHH TUMBLR MUTUAL SAGE HELLO!!! First off, never ever feel bad about rambling with me - it's genuinely my favourite thing ever, I basically screamed with excitement when I saw this! <3
UGHHH I LOVE when people get exactly what I'm writing and we can both just talk meaning and characters and god it's such a good feeling haha. Snow is Sooooooo manipulative in everything he does and there is pretty much nothing he does without an ulterior motive (FOR HIMSELF) so so glad that translated well and you liked it too - Sejanus (both Little, in the context of the fic, and just in general) is so blinded by his trust and faith in Coryo and it's so heartbreaking for him to be so consistently let down by him and yet never straying from him. And of course, Little Sejanus is far too blinded by the idea of Coryo 'taking care' of him, being physically close and affectionate, and keeping him 'away' from danger that he doesn't think twice about what Coryo is actually saying. I could talk about them for hours, seriously.
WOO!! So cool that you finished the book! It absolutely destroyed me as well!! I'm actually going to rewatch the movie tonight and I am SO excited - I think there's some definite differences that feel kinda important, to me at least - but altogether I really loved the movie (and the casting was so good) Once you've got a proper voice to fit each character it's amazing - I simply couldn't help writing fic on them immediately lol. Enjoy the show ;) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Super hypocritical of me to even say this, but I don't know how long of a response you were expecting from this so - also sorry for being a MAJOR rambler hahaha - PLEASE feel free to ramble to me anytime though, as I said I love it so much - whether it's fic related or not <3
Thankyou so so so much for such a sweet message!!! Made my week for sure! Sending lots of love! <3

How do you affectively write something/ someone as spooky? I struggle with this and was wondering if you had any tips or tricks or general advice.
I have the coolest shit in my brain but fuck do I struggle articulating the scenes.
NOTE: This is related to Spooky Jake Autumn, the unofficial follow up to the equally unofficial Hot Karkat Summer. Everyone should consider doing some Spooky Jakes!
For me and my interests, I tend to focus heavily on The Other in stories, and depending of if I want spooky or not, I tune how the POV character/narrative feels about the Other.
Lets momentarily just focus on Jake, and why to me and other folks I talk to he's so fucking good at being spooky.
Jake's stated goals and his actual desires are not the same. He is, to be blunt, a liar. He wants things very strongly, very desperately, and is willing to be manipulative to get them, but he also keeps those actual desires hidden. The concept of someone with ulterior motives is always good for spooks.
There's also the hidden latent power in Jake. When his limiter is removed, Jake nearly breaks the game with the sheer force of his golden glowy bullshit, like something outsized for his body was always lurking underneath, waiting to be unleashed. SUPER spooky!
And related to both those is the idea that Jake is performing. He's presenting. IDk how you headcanon him, I think of Jake as Boy With An Asterisk, and there is a LOT of gender and expectation and body stuff going on there, and a lot of fear in Jake regarding all of that. What I find interesting and what may be a good launchpad is flipping that baggage turnways and letting him own it. What does Jake do when he's aware that he's different than what people assume of him? What power does he find there? Now, externalize that as needed.
So leaning into those aspects, and also dealing head-on with Jake being selfish, that's a very good venue for the spooks.
Now, for general spooky tips. This is obviously coming from my preferred wheelhouse of Erotic Almost-Horror.
One: Toying with what the audience knows vs what the POV character knows. I do this a lot, probably in the most extreme example with we float before the sea at dusk. Having the audience more aware of the danger going on than the character is a lot of fun and good at building dread. Also, I really love playing with characters who have thought patterns and inclinations the audience probably won't. In TSAD, Jake is the POV character and its incredibly obvious he's being hypnotized and conditioned and changed, but to him specifically... that's fine, because it fills a weird desire in him. And that ends up dooming the whole research outpost. The audience having to watch a character make those decisions, getting to understand WHY they make them, and being unable to intervene: VERY SPOOKY.
Two: idk this is me, but I think a willingness to explore Bad Ends or Ambiguous Ends adds a lot of spice. I'm personally not interested in death in fics, but I do love when characters don't make it out of the story safely. Having to live with the consequences of crossing the path of something Other is my personal jelly and jam. In pump your veins with gushing gold, that resolution is basically (when stripped of context) consensual ownership. It's not a "good end" for anyone but the specific characters and their specific circumstances. I really enjoy the happy ending not being certain, and to make the audience uncertain what the happy ending even would be. Spooko.
Three: This one is even more a Me Thing, but body stuff. I love body stuff. I love when people can't help but be Changed by what they've experienced. And I say its "body" but the Mind Is A Plaything Of The Body is also very much a thing. Even if the character escapes the sexy danger, what are they bringing with them? What can't they escape?
Four: The danger getting more intense over time. This doesn't work if you wanna just write a sexy one-shot (which to be clear: I fully support), but your POV character having a brush with danger, hinting at something larger and deeper, and then getting dragged under. That's the business! Escalation is thrilling.
THERE'S SOME TIPS! NOW GO FORTH AND MAKE SOME SPOOKY JAKES!
