Ben Penderwick watched Technoblade like it was his job and tried to copy his PvP skills and had potato farms and called himself an anarchist prolly without even knowing what it meant and tried to sneak Techno quotes into his everyday life and cried bitterly when he died and then joined the Technodad subreddit when his parents agreed he was old enough to have a reddit account and he and Rafael would shout "TECHNOBLADE NEVER DIES" to each other randomly no one can change my mind.
Ben Penderwick watched Technoblade.

Do you think Mommy would be angry? (Rosalind) Angry at our plans and counterplans, with your father sneaking out in the middle of it all to read a book? No, Rosy. I think she'd be laughing herself into fits.
The Penderwicks on Gardam Street
I love how Elizabeth Penderwick is characterized in death. Loving and vivacious, yes, but we know from the bits of her that Skye embodies that she could be stubborn and hot-tempered. Human, in other words. Her family will think about her every day. There will be an empty seat for her at every wedding, every graduation, every heartbreak, but they will learn to love without her. They will know for certain that she would have been best friends with Iantha and fallen in love with Ben and Lydia, despite Lydia’s protests that they couldn’t both exist at the same time and Skye’s reassurances about parallel universes. I can only hope for a death this sweet.

Top 10 favorite books?
oh god this is so hard. these aren't in any particular order:
the penderwicks on gardam street
i know that this is the second book in the series but there's something so magical about this one. also i'm not a big fan of books set in the summer because i just know that there's a time limit, especially since characters are usually on vacations. there's something about the penderwicks being on their home turf that makes them so endearing.
also? the new characters are amazing!! iantha, nick, tommy, ben, melissa -- all of them are wonderful
one of us is lying/next
this one goes without saying. it's not fully out of left field for me to read my murder mysteries, but i latched onto this series and the characters and i don't seem to be letting them go any time soon
the lightning thief
let me just say that y'all are lucky i didn't make my tumblr account in middle school. i was insufferable and it's all because of percy jackson. nothing tops the original series in all of its sassy-percy glory.
little women
i come from a family of sisters, and i love the way that little women celebrates sisterhood and doesn't shy away from the fact that sometimes having sisters is just plain old annoying. i love the march family with my entire being.
sick kids in love
i don't really talk about growing up as a "sick kid" but this book hit me in so many ways. i know what it's like to grow up in a drip room, counting the weeks before i could see someone again. ibby and sasha were real and i really love that.
the summer of lost letters
i know that i just said i hate books set in the summer but this one is so special to me. it's literally just another ya romance novel (and it came out pretty recently too) but it has instantly become my favorite ya romance. i'm obsessed with abby and noah and all of the parallels that were woven into the story that i didn't even realize until i read it again.
truly devious
kind of like the summer of lost letters, i don't have a reason for why i love this book so much. but i do and i keep reading it. also, i think it was the book that made me consider life in vermont and now i'm spending four years there.
the great gatsby
i love the great gatsby so much. i love the symbols, i love the motifs. i love how unreliable nick is as a narrator. i love how every character is completely irredeemable. it's a book about shallow people dealing with a human's deepest emotion and thinking they've conquered it and i love it so much.
to kill a mockingbird
again -- no big reason for loving this book but i do. i really clicked with scout when i was little for some reason.
anne of green gables
i was obsessed with anne and gilbert when i was a kid. probably the first couple i ever shipped.

Having another one of those urges to rewrite the entire final book in a series that I started reading at the appropriate age but that destroyed my life as an adult because it ended WRONG and I am BITTER about it and there is a part of me that will never rest until things are set RIGHT.
No, I do not care that it's a middle grade series.
I WAS ROBBED AND I WILL NOT GO GENTLY INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT.

Thanks so much for the tag @nocompromise-noregrets !!
three ships I like: ooh I struggle to choose just three… of course there’s Aragorn/Arwen which I’m sure even an occasional viewer of my blog would be aware I am completely obsessed with; I’m also very fond of Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanov and Kira Nerys/Jadzia Dax (neither of which I’ve posted enough about). Honorable mentions to Shiro/Allura, Kirk/Spock, and Link/Revali because they also live rent free in my head and it feels wrong to not mention them.
last song I heard: Conversations with my 13-year-old self by P!nk… I’ve been listening to my Black Widow fic playlist again and thinking that I need to get back to work on that
favourite childhood book: again, you want me to choose????? If I absolutely had to, I’d probably say The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, but the Prydain series (specifically The Castle of Llyr), the Warriors series, Tamora Pierce’s Song of the Lioness quartet, The Hobbit, The Penderwicks on Gardam Street, Almost Home, and many, many others are also strong contenders
currently reading: tragically nothing at the moment (school. aargh.) but I do have a lot of things on my tbr, including The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden, book 2 of the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers (which I’ve forgotten the title of, silly me), and Dune
currently watching: I’ve also been too busy to watch much, but I’ve been slowly showing Voltron to my flatmate, and my theater friends and I are going to get together next week to watch Cats (1998) so that’s exciting!!
currently craving: something salty and crunchy…
first ship ever: I think it was Steve/Natasha? Because I remember watching the first Avengers movie when I was about 7 and deciding that they would make a good couple. It might also have been Taran/Eilonwy or Aragorn/Arwen though
I think the biggest thing we’ve learned from this is that I am extremely indecisive and feel strongly about a lot of things XD
No pressure tags :) @herenya-writes @mischieffoal @championrevali @cryptidflow3r

Two, three, and 24 for the book asks?
2. Did you reread anything? What?
i actually didn’t! I like to read Daddy-Long-Legs almost every year, but this year I took a break. I still may end up reading it, however 👀 I also am in the middle of The Penderwicks on Gardam Street but i haven’t finished it yet, so once I do I’ll have reread that one!
also I’ve been desperate to read Spinning Silver again because that is such a winter book to me
3 What were your top five books of the year?
Valiant by Sarah McGuire, Entwined by Heather Dixon Wallwork, Seven Daughters and Seven Sons by Barbara Cohen, Mara: Daughter of the Nile by Eloise Jarvis McGraw, The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, and I can’t leave out Betsy, Tacy and Tib by Maud Hart Lovelace
i enjoyed all of those very much, they made my year better!
24. Did you DNF anything? Why?
I didn’t finish because i knew it would take a long time to finish and I didn’t want to juggle it and multiple other works at the same time, but War and Peace. I LOVE Leo Tolstoy and this year seemed turbulent so I really wanted to savor it

something something batty was wearing jane's old sunglasses and ben was wearing batty's goggles (they were BOTH wearing hand-me-downs from their older siblings, they just didn't know it yet.) something something jane said Iantha reminded her of someone when she smiled (presumably their mother.) something something the penderwicks were starting to drive iantha and ben around, visit them constantly, babysit each other's kids. something something iantha was already a mother figure for batty and had no hesitation in cheering up Jane and taking her home and letting her hug her (before Jane had time to think whether or not she should, it just came nautrally.) something something rosalind didn't even blink an eye before telling jane to invite iantha and ben to the VERY IMPORTANT Skye and Jane's soccer game and that's ROSALIND we're talking about. something something Martin and Iantha didn't even notice they were in love until their families were already merging into one. It came naturally. they loved each other when they cared for each other's kids because it's all about family and how their families came together. driving each other places and steadying each other when they're laughing and the mundane but actually exciting if you take the time to notice everyday stuff, that's how Mr. Penderwick and Iantha courted each other. cause that's how penderwicks love each other. handwritten cake recipes and helping with glasses (the hand-me-downs, jeffrey giving mr. penderwick a glasses case) and singing happy birthday even though they sound like "a flock of depressed sheep" and playing clue and choosing their own unique characters while aunt claire loses on purpose to be nice (she thinks her nieces don't notice they do) and secrecy and schemes and a code of honor (Jane spilled the save-daddy plan to her remember? cause she was such a good listener and they trusted her) and FAMILY. it just came naturally.

Then Sings My Soul (& More May Reads)
Then Sings My Soul (& More May Reads)
I finished four books in the month of May. That is, I read three and wrote one, a devotional journal for hymn lovers (like me!) called Then Sings My Soul. Keep reading for more details on all four titles. The 4 books I read in May: The Penderwicks on Gardam Street We finished another installment in the Penderwick series, which we enjoyed even more than the first book. In The Penderwicks on…
