ASoIaF characters: Tyene Sand
"War," said Tyene, "though not my sister's war. Dornishmen fight best at home, so I say let us hone our spears and wait. When the Lannisters and the Tyrells come down on us, we shall bleed them in the passes and bury them beneath the blowing sands, as we have a hundred times before."

HOUSE MARTELL is a noble house founded by Morgan Martell during the Coming of the Andals. Their seat is Sunspear, on Dorne, Westeros. The Martell heir is to be named Prince or Princess of Dorne, as well as Lord or Lady of Sunspear. Their sigil is a gold spear piercing a red sun. The Martell family words are “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken”.

Tyene Sand, The Third Sand Snake
Despite her innocent and pious persona, Tyene is regarded as treacherous. Her soft pale hands are as deadly as Obara’s callused ones. She shares her father, Oberyn’s, knowledge of poisons, her chosen weapon.

The Court of House Martell
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You may burn us, my lady ... but you will not bend us, break us, or make us bow. This is Dorne. You are not wanted here. Return at your peril."
And at last, all our Sunsoear court together! What was it George called ADWD, three bitches and a bastard? I've said it before and I'll say it again, I adore having water features in dioramas, but there is nothing on earth worse than working with epoxy.
My vision here was the contrasts of Dorne - arid red sands towards the back of the diorama, the lush verdant water gardens at the front. I'm happy with the sand, the palm trees, and of course the blood oranges of heavy-handed symbolism. It was also a huge challenge putting all the minis on removable bases that fit into the larger tile pattern, and I'm super happy with how that came out. The water was an enormous challenge, but it came out pretty nicely! I like the lilies and plants suspended, theres also a fish in there though I'm not sure how visible it is in the final product. I dont know if the Water Gardens would necessarily have a lot of life in them, I picture them as kind of a swimming pool complex, but I guess in a pre-chlorine world there would always be some life.

Obara, rusted nails and boiled leather, with her angry, close-set eyes and rat-brown hair. Nymeria, languid, elegant, olive-skinned, her long black braid bound up in red-gold wire. Tyene, blue-eyed and blond, a child-woman with her soft hands and little giggles.

Okay but Doran is such a Tired Dad™ lol. His daughter is actively working against him, literally planning a coup in the adjacent kingdom they have been warring with till only a 100 years back. Not to mention his well-educated, politically savvy, kill machines of nieces who have always been too hot to handle are now are specifically hell bent on revenge lmao

ASoIaF characters: Nymeria Sand
She wore a gown of yellow silk so sheer and fine that the candles shone right through it to reveal the spun gold and jewels beneath. So immodest was her garb that the white knight seemed uncomfortable looking at her, but Hotah approved. Nymeria was least dangerous when nearly [bare]. Elsewise she was sure to have a dozen blades concealed about her person.

The outrage over season 8 actually pisses me off so much because it wasn’t the first time D&D fucked characters over, and the previous times they did that actually went against the books.
There was Stannis, who they wrote as burning Shireen and dying after failing to beat Ramsay. It’s physically impossible for him to burn Shireen in the books (she’s at the Wall and he’s dealing with Ramsay near Winterfell.) and he’s still alive, and the far likelier victor than Ramsay. They also removed the scenes where he grieved over Renly and other moments that really humanised Stannis.
There was the entirety of Dorne. In the books, Ellaria decries the idea of getting revenge for Oberyn because she doesn’t want to perpetuate the cycle of revenge. The show has her wanting revenge. The Sand Snakes are close to and protective of their cousins in the book, but in the show they kill Trystane. They’re also just much better characters in the book.
There was Euron. In the books, he’s a chillingly evil psychopath who abused his brothers when they were children, tortures multiple people and is just generally a terrifying person. Not the goofy, ridiculous pirate man he is in the show. I hate this one the most. Book!Euron is a despicable person but he, and his overall plan, are fascinating.
But there was only mild anger at these, not the vitriolic fury there was when the show had Daenerys do the same thing she’d been doing for seven seasons prior. I guess it doesn’t matter unless it’s the white saviour imperialist favourite.

Martell Week, day 4: Favorite trops & hcs
Tag: @adriennegabriella @wingsoftheangels @morby @candycanes19 @tashastrange89
(A/N: So I opted to save the bonus as a get out of jail free card. I’m not doing the fic rec, just because I have a lot of them, and I don’t want to snub anyone if I forget. So here’s the bonus for the fourth day of Martell Week!)
House Martell Week, Day 4: Favorite Tropes/HCs
-Oberyn’s alive! Ellaria made his cocky ass settle down real quick! Was able to kill the Mountain by finding the armor’s defect. You know that the spear had poison on it. (Archenemy trope)
-Ellaria becomes legitimized (Thank you Dany!) and Oberyn and Ellaria marry.
-Honestly, after everything that has happened up to that point, Oberyn would say eff it and marry her. He would be like Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh: Adbridge and say “Screw the rules, I have money!”
-The Sand Snakes get to have a quiet life for the most part after all of this is said and done. Of course on the occasion that something does happen, you better run; they will kill you! (The Clan trope)
-Doran and Arianne patch things up. They had a long talk, and when I say long talk, I mean Arianne nearly decked him for not telling her. Hey, she has every right, I get Doran’s reasoning but, really? You couldn’t have communicated a bit better? (Princesses Rule trope)
-Elia and her children are resting peacefully.
-Oberyn and Ellaria can raise a family in peace! I mean the Mountain and Cersei is dead.
-Ellaria’s bridal dress was breathtaking! It has a sunset gradient to it, If anything Ellaria looked like a Goddess.
-Because Daenerys can’t have children because of the spell; Arianne is up to rule after her; thankfully they have it on the down low so Arianne isn’t targeted by assassins.
-Doran’s plan actually went well. Lannisters are gone, Targaryen’s are on the throne.
