I think people should be offered mental health alternatives before considering tattoos. Piercings as well. Only someone who's sick in the head would consider altering their body in such a dangerous way. Even adults should be forced to go through a two year psych evaluation before they're even presented with the option to get any kind of facial piercing.
I mean the possibility of nerve damage alone. Anyone who would be willing to undergo the risk of full facial paralysis MUST be some kind of mentally ill pervert freak.
youre being satirical but what you dont know is "is getting a tattoo a form of self harm" was a discourse on radblr a few months ago, where some people agreed that therapy should be offered before people get tattoos or at least if theyre getting a lot of them

idk how conservatives and other bigots can ever think that more diversity = less safe of a community. the more queer, interracial, and muslim a community, the safer i feel. like how can you not see a whole load of people from different cultures and lives peacefully vibing in the same area minding their own buisness and NOT go 'oh thank god theres some level of tolerance here I can just be myself and not have to be constantly on edge all the time bc of it'

torn bc on one hand i fully understand how much it sucks to watch a movie you enjoy get unfairly panned but on the other hand its deeply embarrassing to watch someone die on the cross to defend a mediocre massive budget studio tentpole movie from getting middling reviews.

Probably one of the most unfortunate things about RWBY is, for all it's inclusion of characters of color, there's no real cultural identity behind any of it
Outside of names, what is there to identify Yang or Ren or Sun as Asian? Other than skin tone, what marks Emerald as a Black woman? What marks Maria as hispanic besides her surname and clothes loosely inspired by Dio de los Muertos?
The few times crwby genuinely tried to tie these things together have ended in total failure. Flynt Coal is so unambiguously Black that his weapon and design are just Jazz... and that's his entire character. The Black One to counter our White Hero for 4.2 minutes, then claim he digs her style, thus negating every relevant real-world implication of a large, wealthy white family driving small time entrepreneurs of color out of business
Every single attempt at inclusion is through such a glaringly White lens that it's no wonder that people often mistake Sun or Ironwood as white despite being named after a Chinese deity or being modeled after their Asian VA. And that's so disappointing in ways I don't think I could ever truly put into words

ive inherited a copy of lolita from my parents (i.e. i stole it from the library in our basement and started treating it like its mine) with the 1989 vintage international cover and i think its actually not that bad. better than the 50th anniversary one with the lips anyway imo (which is the cover for the library ebook vers ive checked out).
like i think any cover that incorporates the "only convincing love story of our generation" quote anywhere kind of sucks on principle, and the fact that it features a photo of a girl at all really goes against nabakovs instructions, but compared to other covers that break those two rules, the haziness of the photo creates a really evocative atmosphere i feel matches the book more or less.

All the kazui stuff will be announced soon 🥰 my final bets for the cover song are Neo-Neon, Relationship Scramble, Fakery Tale or Psuedo-Hope Syndrome
