I don’t think people utilize Dick spending the latter half of his childhood under Bruce’s guardianship enough. Like, yes, his core childhood memories are in the circus with his parents, but kids don’t often have a grasp on money until they’re in the double digits.

I saw a post where Tim just pulls out a couple hundred dollar bills, and I want that for Robin-era Dick too. Dick didn’t realize that his weekly allowance was enough to feed a small family for a whole month because all of his civilian classmates have approximately the same if not higher allowances because they’re all in the same wealth bracket and a $100 pineapple is a perfectly normal visiting gift. To add a little bit of flavor, Dick generally has a very skewed perception of how much things should cost. $100 pineapple? Completely normal. It’s just a nice gift. $400 sweater? They’re not items he had to think about purchasing as a kid, especially since the circus kids cycled through hand-me-downs. He generally assumed that all clothes are investment pieces (quiet wealth) and had zero concept of fast fashion. The fancy crystal chandelier? Definitely expensive, and he really shouldn’t break it, but it’s not like it would cost an arm and a leg to replace, right? Bruce built him an indoor trapeze set in the next week.

But $17 ticket to the local movie theatre? Horrendously overpriced. He vividly remembers the circus tickets were only $3 per adult and free for children under 12. Meanwhile, carnival food is like $20 for a corn dog. Dick always hesitates when paying for the movies because it feels like highway robbery, but he doesn’t bat an eye at the movie theater food prices.

I think it’s generally funny if the three Robins who’ve led their respective Teen Titans all have this little “quirk” where they just unironically carry hundred dollar bills. Tim is from the same social circles as Bruce, and Damian is something along the lines of a literal prince.

I keep thinking about that panel of Dick not having a credit score because Alfred then Starfire handled his finances.

I was thinking about something @oneofthewednesdays said about Inej and flaws and kind of leading back to the one post about inej having silly flaws... well, i was thinking about more serious flaws :) More specifically Inej being bad at feelings... and even more specifically, the moment when she rejects Kaz when he asked her to stay.

I think what's even sadder about this is Kaz has never been this vulnerable around any girl at least not since "Saskia" (age 9, which she lied to him) and then he tried again with Imogen (age 14, obviously, did not go well). Then when he finally tells Inej how he feels (age 17). And I know for Kaz for all his blunders does have a heart (despite what people may say, Kaz has put himself out there and fails). He’s also very Kerch, and they aren't known for their feelings. Like even Wylan and Alys are very much a "product" (if you will) of their upbringing. Kaz is so Kerch he called Inej a valuable investment and he did not see anything wrong with it. And even that is very telling because we don’t see that moment from Kaz’s POV, we see it from Inej’s... but I digress.

So asking Inej to stay, to pick him... and she said "What would be the point?”, it's not enough. Like I do genuinely need people to understand she rejected him AFTER he asked her to stay. He put his feelings on the line, probably knowing she wasn't gonna say yes (bc Kaz is a bit self-deprecating and believes himself to be a monster) and Inej proves him right to a degree. 

Her rejecting has probably more to do with the fact that she believes he didn’t care... but at the same time! This is the proof that Inej needed to show that Kaz cares about her more than "an investment" and she still rejects him. And damn if this isn't the proof Kaz needs that he doesn't deserve to be loved or is a monster... and I get really sad about Kaz.

So, it’s not so much a hc, but rather the idea of Inej being the one to slow down the relationship because while Kaz can be all in it’s Inej that stalls. Wouldn’t it be wild if Inej came back and is like this is my good friend Kaz, and Kaz is dying inside. Inej would obviously eventually come around but also time away is still time away.
