Oh my god they’re finally almost done! The Superboy ones took me somehow nearly 5 hours. Curves are the fucking worst when trying tocut cardboard neatly. My exactoknife is getting dull super fast from this unfortunately so I’ll likely have to go out and get replacements tomorrow.
I think they look super nice and I’m very happy with how they turned out! Just waiting on the glue for the SB logos to dry so I can attach them to the shortbox!
Only 5 more to go!

pallas in book one is definitely at it-cannot-possibly-get-worse-than-this ABSOLUTE rock bottom but god. there is such a specific flavour to their despair in book two that only happens because of the realization they have at the end of lay me down. like. how do you move on after admitting that everything you believed in was a lie. how do you live with what you’ve done (with what has been done to you). is it possible to pull yourself up out of the pit you’ve dug. what do you do if it isn’t. what do you do if it IS. and once you look at the damage how do you stop looking. past the first layer of hurt there’s just more and more hurt and you were used by the one person who was supposed to keep you safe to cause even MORE pain and no matter how deep you go none of it means anything! it never meant anything at all!! motherfucker your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes it’s me grumbling about how we’re supposed to just accept Eliot accepting Quentin’s death when he literally threw away the safety of the entire magical world for the chance to save Quentin you think in a world where death is as impermanent as it is on the magicians that Eliot Waugh wouldnt give up his corporeal form to spend eternity in the underworld playing fucking bowling if it meant one more moment with Quentin Coldwater like really??

something about billy and steve having a moment together after that night
billy going to the quarry for a smoke a few days later after getting it from neil
steve going there himself because he has shit to think about and he doesn’t wanna be around anyone
steve seeing billy and being all wow i really got you good, huh?
and billy just laughs and flips him off, tells him in your dreams, harrington
and steve doesn’t ask anything else
doesn’t say anything else
just sits on the hood of his car and stares out, sighs when he checks his pockets and remembers he doesn’t have any cigarettes with him
and then billy’s there, next to him, must’ve gotten out of the camaro at some point because he’s there, telling steve to move his ass so billy can sit with him
and steve just stares at him, frowns maybe, tries to make a joke and asks if billy’s gonna throw him over the edge
but billy doesn’t find it funny, just says fine and gives a small fuck you as he turns to leave
but steve stops him, tells billy to stop being such a dramatic bitch and just sit with him then
and billy offers him one of his cigarettes and they just
sit together, in silence
and they stay silent as they part ways, as they get into their own cars and drive off
and neither one is sure what it is exactly, but it feels like something’s changed between them

Yknow I can’t tell if this is happening more and more bc the general circles seem sick of arma bc it’s always in SRW-as petty as that whole thing is-or if this is just popping up more as years go on but I find it funny how people continually say “don’t watch arma as your first getter show, it’s confusing without any prior knowledge!” When like- you look at every other mecha imagawa has directed and it’s a stable of his to have a drastically altered setting from the original source, that your thrown into and doesn’t get shit explained to you so you have to figure it out as it goes along.
Like- he did this exact thing with giant robo even more confusing as he ripped a ton of characters from the authors other works, g gundam he said “what if I made Gundam a SUPER robot” so if you don’t know wtf the real robot is or know nothing about gundam that’s gonna be tonal whiplash and shin mazingers while a more traditional retelling first fucking ep is the ENDING. (Tetsujin the only one I can’t comment on here bc I know hardly anything about it since no one talks about it, but I’ll report back if it follows the same “Wtfness” bc I expect so) With arma even if he left after ep 3 and the rest of the changes (debateably) we’re added by Kawagoe, the first 3 eps are his standard story telling, especially given this was his third mecha project. Sure, someone may not know this if they never saw his other works or be informed similar director, but arma really isn’t a outline so I don’t get why it shows so much hostility if someone starts with it first.
Am I opposed to someone starting with the manga or any of the other Animes because they give better insight on the character? No, it’s all personal preference and anything else is just as a good starting point if not slightly better then arma. But I don’t like there should be a designated starting point when with getter the *only* thing someone needs to do in a specific order or way is what arcs of the manga to read-which even then, not the end of the world if someone stumble upon it via a later arc bc they can go back to read the rest if they find them-but the only anime they’ll need prior manga context to is arc since it’s outright a adaptation. Toei and all the ovas are their own thing, even if the latter takes elements of the manga.
Arma is no different from this and it’s really sad to see how it’s gatekeep like this as of late when it’s not actually “something you need a lot of experience in the franchise to understand” and more so “a effect of imagawas really specific method of story telling that is convoluted”.

“Why do you buy series on dvd/blu-ray/or all the formats digital combo packs? Just stream it”
Because of this situation we’re seeing right here.
I grew up watching bits of episodes of anime with subtitles on early YouTube, borrowing dvd sets from friends, struggling to locate dvds at stores, resorting to secondhand stores when I could find them because half-season sets cost $70, and there was also the issue that there were no streaming services and when they started to appear it was a super long time before the series I loved were streamed and when they were it was on like three different services—I have absolutely no trust in streaming platforms to consistently have the series I love so I find ways to own copies of them so I have them when I want them and can watch them without forking over monthly or yearly subscription fees, and I’m bitter that people who do rely on streaming services for their faves are now faced with losing things they love

SO! Lofn was given three more dragon eggs and hatched them without her daughters knowing . Valerie found them today and being that keeping dragons is illegal, her and Carina are currently internally freaking the f**k out while there’s Natasha who’s just “ this goddamn woman” then there’s lofn who’s excited her dragon babies survived their travels and hatched okay.
So many emotions right now in the Njordrdottir residence.
