louis is so obviously someone who really loves and thrives off building the anticipation, feeling the energy, seeing the excitement, teasing fans, he fucking loves it. steve literally just said he wanted to make the night changes intro so different to get fans to think it was a new song and confuse them. it makes zero sense that he would leak his own new album songs that he’s so excited for and kept so hushed like can you think for one moment

hot take but pjms are loosing the plot w the never ending album promo comparison debate. its not a jimin-against-the-world type situation, but a members vs bang-sb-jk situation. that was very clear to pjms last year but it seems we’ve gone back on some of that progress. trying to pit the others against each other and nitpick similarities and differences between all of their individual releases actually takes attention away from and benefits the real culprit but oh well.
the levels of demand among the members have always been different that is not new information to the members, their fans, or their management. the real issue (at least for me) is not others members getting “more” or different promo rollout than him. let’s be serious, how did more or less music videos help any of the other members out? what difference did a cd make for most of them? and there are many other examples where the others (except for one ofc) got things he didn’t that weren’t necessarily helpful for them.
all of the members have gotten different sources of promotion, which i actually encourage. what would be the point in all of them doing the exact same thing? at one point, jimin was considered privileged about getting his physical album to be available on the same day as its digital release. then that became a norm for the others.
but by constantly nitpicking normal differences (among 6 members) in their rollouts we lose sight of the real mistreatment or whats actually disadvantageous to him. the real issue is not the (5) others getting different things, it is him not receiving the *level of support that his demand requires*. i dont see an issue with the other 5 getting a little boost here and there, because they lack demand and its only natural for them to expand their horizons and find a new audience that does support them. however, jimin ALREADY has an audience and is not being given the support that corresponds to it (e.g. radioplay, award shows, timely certifications, praise from his own damn label, etc) despite it being actually successful. bottom line, team “global superstar” is the common enemy here and all of the other solos are too busy fighting each other to accept that.
Solos pitting the members against each other is how they’ve always operated though. That’s literally what they all get off on including pjms. Comparing numbers and claiming that the member they stan is better. And while I’m sure other solos do recognize that Bang favoriting JK has had some negative affects on the member they stan, they don’t really have it out for him because they’re main enemy will always be Jimin. He is their common ground. Somebody they can all team up against and hate in unison. But regarding pjms, they still universally agree that Bang and Hybe are the real prime culprits in all of this.
I agree that rapline getting bulkier rollouts in contrast to Jimin hasn’t helped them and I never wanted to have identical rollouts because creatively that’s boring. What I and other pjms have always wanted is fairness at base level, like the CD, playlisting and servicing to radio because we know beyond that most likely he isn’t going to get JK level label aid that would be proportionate to his demand in the states. It’s been established that it’s intentionally set like that by Bang and Scooter.
The MV situation is simply because Jimin asked for a visual and was denied. If Jimin had never mentioned that, no pjm would be stuck on him not getting those 2 extra MVs. I’d just see it as something that I’d also like to see from him down the line. It was never about wanting them because we believed it was crucial for charting or exposure. If all seven members got the same amount of those 3 things, I’d have no qualms on that end. And the numbers made off that would just be left up to who has more interest and that can’t really be helped with how skewed it already is.
Common sense would dictate to any label or management that you’d push what has demand in the market that shows it, but Bang and Scooter are stupid men and Jimin isn’t who they want to push so they half ass everything surrounding him. We all know that already. So it’s not that pjms are failing to see the bigger picture, cause we’ve already come to that conclusion like you said. It just keeps gets rehashed because everytime a member has a comeback and gets something Jimin didn’t get for FACE/LC it just irritates all over again. Can’t really fault us for being annoyed in retrospect. But again, we’ll see how they go about PJM2 because for the other members obviously things have went better for them promo wise and *hopefully* it’ll be the same for Jimin too.

EMINEM STAN DOCUMENTARY UPDATE
Eminem just posted on social media (Twitter and Instagram) about his upcoming documentary "Stan" ! He and his team are apparently searching for fans to share their stories about being Eminem superfans 👀. Fans can share their testimonies by answering a questionnaire & submitting a 1 minute video 😉.
Questions include the following :
When/How did you first hear Eminem ?
Would you consider yourself a "Stan" ? Why/Why not ?
Do you collect Eminem merch, make Eminem artwork, write fan fiction, etc.? If so, please explain in detail.
Have you ever been to Detroit? If so, when, why, and where did you go?
What’s your favorite Eminem song? Which song first hit you on a deep personal level? Why?
Are there any parts of Eminem’s personal story that you relate to? Please explain.
Has Eminem or his music helped you through any difficult times? Please share.
What are some things in your life that you’ve accomplished thanks to Eminem/his music?
Have you ever met Eminem? If so, where/when? What was the interaction like? Do you have photos/video?
Do you remember when Eminem took a break from touring/releasing albums circa 2005? If so, how did that impact you?
How often do you listen to Eminem’s music? Look at his social accounts? Google for news about him?
If you could tell Eminem anything, what would it be?
For now, it is unclear how the collected data will be used. Will they use the collected footage in the documentary or is it a casting-type thing ?
I have to say I am kind of tempted to submit. I think it could be super fun to share my story and maybe be a part of the documentary ? 👀
On another note, I would just LOVE to see everyone in the Tumblr Stan community answering the questions here ! I want to read the stories of how y'all became Stans and what difference Eminem made in your lives ❤️. Should I share my own answers on this blog ? 👀

Why do you think Harry ended up being closer to Ed than Louis did? I'm thinking about James Corden too. He started as Louis's friend and he introduced Harry. I think there were others too
Well, why do any two people become closer friends? There are countless reasons and we can't possibly know them all. But from what we do know from their interviews etc it seems clear to me that Harry was far more present and invested in building friendships in London than Louis was. Meanwhile, Louis was invested in his new relationship with Eleanor (and her new friends), and maintaining his friends group from Doncaster.
And this is not specifically directed at you, Anon, but let me go off on a tangential thread about how conspiracy theorising in this fandom skews discussion of things like Louis' and Harry's friendships. Because the Larrie conspiracy theory colours everything.
You have the tinhat hate bloggers saying dumb shit like, "Harry targeted rich and influential people from the very beginning because he is ruthlessly ambitious and only cares about money and fame blah blah blah", and the just plain nasty hate bloggers saying, "Nobody successful wants to be friends with Louis because he's a dull chav who's of no interest or benefit to them blah blah...". And then you have the OG-style Larries saying, "Well actually, Ed and James and Adele ARE friends with both Louis and Harry because they're a couple, they're just very discreet about it because Reasons"
Meanwhile, the truth is probably way more mundane than any of that. And it almost certainly conforms more to the (limited) info that we fans have been privy to.
I would guess that Harry and Louis' friendships were shaped by personality, age, priorities, personal circumstances etc....same as it is for Normals.
Harry's friendships with people like Ed, James, Grimmy, Ben etc all started forming in 2011 when he was 17 and living in London, away from his family and childhood friends (who were still at school! Because they were 17!!) I don't think it's a coincidence that these new friendships really took off when Louis started dating Eleanor in September 2011. But of course all the conspiracy theorists can't accept that Louis was actually besotted by Eleanor, so this is dismissed as a key factor.
Until then, Harry and Louis had a super intense new friendship. They were touring with the X Factor tour, going to Sweden to record their album, they'd moved into their shared flat, they were going to gigs and music festivals and meeting new people together etc.
Louis met Eleanor at exactly the same time as 1D launched. From then on, all the 1D boys were constantly travelling and working. They had hardly any time off at all, and it's clear that Louis prioritised spending as much of that free time as possible with Eleanor. He went to visit her at Manchester Uni or they were hanging out in London.
Harry was single, wasn't an adult yet, and totally unmoored from his old life. All his old friends were living at home with their parents and going to school every day. He spent about 90% of his life, 24/7, with the four other 1D members and their team. When they weren't working, what was Harry going to do - sit on his ass? Zayn and Liam had their best friends living with them. Niall's mum was living with him. Louis had Eleanor and his mates back home who were all at uni or starting work.
Harry was on his own! It's not exactly like he could call one of his mates from Holmes Chapel and say, "Come down to London and we'll go out on the piss!" They were probably doing homework!
Louis' friends were in a totally different stage in their lives. All age 19 or 20, they had the freedom and autonomy that a schoolkid doesn't have. Although their lives were completely different to Louis', they could at least join in on some of the madness. Louis' first years in 1D coincided with his friends' uni years, and I think that really contributed to them maintaining the strong bond which is so important to Louis. Harry's schoolfriends' lives were unimaginably different to his. Like, for H&L's New Year's party in 2011, Louis got a bus-load of mates down from Doncaster. Harry had some childhood friends there too, but think about it - they would would have had to ask their mums for permission to go :)
So it's no surprise that Harry built a friendship group around him in London. Many artists who become successful young do not manage to do this and have spoken about how isolated and alone they were when away from the screaming and the stage. It seems to me that Harry is lucky to have the type of personality that enabled him to build friendships easily. It appears he was extremely proactive in doing so. Ed has said Harry would text him and ask did he want to hang out, Grimmy said the same, Dermot O'Leary did too. It's clear that Harry was invested in those relationships, that he put time and effort into them, and that's how those friendships grow. Louis had other priorities - he was in a brand new relationship with his girlfriend whom he adored. It's the most basic story in the book, but it's one that tinhats don't like to think about.

BPP!! How many people raised their objections at boba hair Jimin?! I wonder what’s happening to their words now that the Vogue covers have dropped 🤭 Ah Jimin-ah. Why do you do this to us every single time?!
Oh mon Dieu.
Now if he can just give us back tattoos some of us can retire in peace.
***
Hi Anon,
You sent me this ask several days ago and now more stunning Jimin footage has dropped:
Tumblr media
(Not a soul alive who is doing it like him)
Tumblr media
*
I kinda don’t want him to reveal his back tattoos… for reasons. But it’s likely he does in FACE promotions or MVs. We’ll see.
And for the Anon who was very impressed by the website designed like a new make-up line from Jimin that’s getting a lot of attention for his new album, a website that BTSChartData (BCD) and a Namjoon-biased ARMY made to promote Jimin’s FACE; for that Anon, welcome to seeing the care and thought ARMYs put into the tannies’ work during comeback.
You’re right that people are usually more able to look at something favourably if they already like the subject. And you’re also right that’s why the same group of people complaining that BTS’s promotional videos and material is sterile, basic, vapid, etc, are somehow able to put on their thinking caps to analyze and recognize the subliminal messaging present in Jimin’s material for FACE. One could say it’s only coincidence they happen to actually like Jimin rather than the group as a whole or the other members who have released music so far. But it also begs the question when a similar approach was used for the design and content of the promotional material for Namjoon’s album (indigo denim with sunlight and shadow patterns and angles); for Hoseok’s album (with specific colour motifs of green and red/pink); and before that, BTS’s Proof album. I mean, it’s the same team working on all the projects (with the exception of Hobi’s where the chief designer role was absent) and there’s a marked difference in BTS’s promotional material as a whole compared to what you’d see for many other k-pop groups in the last few years I.e. BTS’s media presentation is nearly all subliminal and often minimalistic as opposed to dramatic and sensational as is typical for k-pop promotional imagery. As I said in my On The Street review, BTS’s approach to media messaging is one where nothing is spoon-fed to the viewer, and instead there’s the expectation to do your own homework, intimately know the artist, and apply that knowledge of the artist towards their videos and media material. We saw it with BTS’s previous concept/video material, and most recently with On The Street and now Set Me Free Pt 2.
I suggest you not let it bug you Anon. The willingness to interpret material for Jimin’s work is less about hypocrisy and more about the very natural human sentiment of bias. If you’re already biased towards something, you’re more willing to make the effort of approaching that art favourably. It also helps that just as with all the previous members so far, Jimin’s concept is legitimately beautiful and thought-provoking.
I’ve said before I’m not really one to analyze concept photos, posters, music videos and such. The music is primarily what I’m here for though sometimes an understanding of the associated media can amplify the effect. For many people analyzing the content is all part of the fun, and frankly the work Jimin has put into his album necessitates it.
Make sure you’re staying in shape and hydrated for his pre-release on March 17th.

With the VR thing, it seems like there's an effort to make this new image (3d models etc) more than just the aesthetic of one album. Any thoughts about what they're up to? It feels forced and needless to say belated
Sooo I've been working on the Sound & Recording interview he did with one of the lads who assisted on the VRChat show project (probably post it tomorrow or so for anyone who cares) and the whole thing was spurred by the director for the low-poly MVs (Future Wave and Virtual Freedom) suggesting that they could recreate the environments in VR. Nakata liked the idea and they got in touch with the team that handles VR stuff in March this year; ReeeznD (guy who largely worked on it with Nakata's input) said it was very last minute and the brief duration of the concert was what was feasible for the amount of time they had to work with. Nakata concludes the interview by saying he really likes VR/VRChat and wants to try making his own world but he doesn't answer the interviewer's final question ("how are you planning to utilize VR in your future activities?") all that directly -- just something about how he makes music to suit particular environments (not new information) and that next time he does something with VR he'd like to try mixing it differently.
To be totally honest, this album's roll-out and planning was/is just a gigantic mess, lol. I haven't finished the actual S&R Metro Pulse interview (I got as far as him saying he originally wanted to do an all-instrumental album but he scrapped that because...???) but I'm not expecting it to be very insightful re: how this album came to be since S&R is more focused on the tech aspects of music production (nerd sh*t, bless their hearts). So just using my own eyes and ears I get the impression of a disconnect between Hikari no Disco and the two other singles, and with the lengthy delay between Virtual Freedom and the full album release followed by this VRChat promo stuff nearly a year after the LP... "Belated" is a kind way to put it. (Idk about "forced" though, technically all artists are doing is forcing their aesthetics and preferences on consumers, lol...)
But yea, capsule's whole "thing" sort of is just reinventing themselves (though they have gone through periods of not dramatically changing) and I think this album and its accompanying stylistic quirkiness is probably a phase; capsule will probably not only exist in the form of low-polygon 3D character models from now-on. What's frustrating for me as someone who's used to a snappy and predictable schedule from them is the long-windedness of it all -- I didn't hate the VRChat live and I respect the amount of work it took and how involved Nakata really was in it, but I've been ready to move on to the next album from them. (And hearing direct feedback from other fans, no matter how small the pool that interacts with me is out of the sea of their whole western audience, also drives me insane on their behalf... I just want to shout "this isn't what people really want to hear or see from you guys, what are you doing," lol. But that's a whole other conversation.)

Ren: "Going solo after Nu'est; although it's lonely, I have no regrets" [Opening the door to a singer - 1]
[source - This is the first part of a two-part interview. Part 2.]
[Ren is going solo ten years after debut]
K-pop has now become a global cultural hit. No matter how you look at it, at the core of that are the singers. With fans all over the world having an interest in new album releases or news of performances, their every move is always a hot topic. In an effort to relieve some of this curiosity, News1 has prepared a special interview corner called "Opening the door to a singer," where singers directly answer 10 questions privately and earnestly.
Tumblr media
For singer and actor Ren, this year was an important "turning point." Concluding activities with boy group NU'EST that he's been with for all of ten years and coming to stand on his own. Ren is now standing at the start line, not as an idol group member of ten years, but as a solo artist. It wasn't easy to leave the stability of being in a team, but he chose to make a bold decision to take on a new challenge.
After finding a new nest to settle in, he's now in the middle of working hard. Having been recognized as a musical actor through the musicals Jamie and Hedwig and meeting the audiences through Bungee Jumping Of Their Own after going solo, he'll go onstage once again as D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers starting on the 16th. Alongside this, he's also shown a unique side as a solo singer by appearing recently in KBS 2TV's Listen Up and Music Bank.
Fans are what motivate the artist in Ren to move. He gives all the credit to his "Minracles," coolly stating that without the fans, he wouldn't be able to do anything. He also showed his desire to actively promote in different fields as a singer, actor, entertainer, etc. Additionally, he strengthened his resolve to become an artist who influences the public, in his own unique way.
Recently, we met with Ren at the Big Planet Made company building and shot him some questions.
Tumblr media
Q1: At the start of the year, you left your team and went solo. It must not have been an easy decision to leave a place where you've been for 10 years.
If we count the time when we were trainees, I've been with the members for 12 years. I've spent more time with them than with my family. Though there were a lot of good things to that, there were also other circumstances at work. I thought that I'd been keeping the team for a long time and decided to go solo. Honestly, I knew that since it hasn't been long since I've done activities, people wouldn't know me yet, and the fans would feel really bad. I felt sorry thinking of that, but the members all had things that we each wanted to do and we resolved to respect each other. I have no regrets with my decision.
Q2: Did you talk with the members a lot during that process?
We talked a lot about work, I think. Would we make it if we all went solo...we talked about what direction we would take from now on and encouraged each other a lot. We really wanted all of us to do well. We're walking our own paths for now but if the chance comes again, we could be together again someday. (t/n: haha wow i didn't expect to cry today but here we go)
Q3: How is it so far having promoted solo? Is it what you expected?
It's more lonely than I expected. When I was promoting with a team, it was always with five people wherever we went. We could have fun just sharing even the smallest things, but now I can only talk with the staff and it feels quite different. Even on stage, when I was with my members, we could depend on each other and there was that energy from the team. I can feel the emptiness of that part now that I'm doing it alone. There are good things too. When I was in a team, we had to be responsible for each other so we had to be careful of moving excessively or standing out too much. It was difficult not having a set choreography or position, but now that I'm going onstage by myself, I can express myself however I want and I feel how free that is.
Q4: Going solo is like opening a second act. We thought you might change your stage name, but you're still going by "Ren." Is there a reason why?
I thought about using "Choi Mingi" for my stage name, but since I've promoted as "Ren" for ten years, I thought that it might be strange to the fans if I suddenly changed it now. I also thought that I'm able to promote now because of the name "Ren," so I want to keep it. I don't know what I'll do if I end up acting in the future, but for now I want to keep "Ren."
Tumblr media
Q5: Since you've been with your new company, you've been active as a musical actor. We're curious if you've always had a strong interest in musicals.
It was always an area that I wanted to try. People always say that my energy would suit musicals, so I thought "How about it?" and got curious. So when I got the opportunity to do Jamie, I fell in love with its charms. You can communicate with the audience in real time, the line delivery depends on the emotions of that day, the change in tone and other aspects was so appealing. I also love that you can show songs, dancing, and acting all together.
Q6: The prejudice of idols appearing in musicals has mostly disappeared, but despite that, are there still people who have that bias?
There aren't very many. But rather, that sort of perspective became the stimulus for me to do better. At first, when I did Hedwig, there was a lot of talk like, "Who even is he to do Hedwig?" Even I hesitated a lot when I was practicing. I'd think "I can do this," then after an hour I'd think "Can I do this?" and get in my head about all sorts of things. So I thought l should break that prejudice. All in all, I think I was successful. There was a lot of mania around Hedwig, but I was so happy to hear people who came to watch my shows say, "That character could only be Rendwig." I was proud to say that I did it.
Q7: In the course of doing musicals, you show a new self every time - a drag queen, a trans-person, the main character of an ardent melodrama. It seems you have a desire for new challenges.
I have a huge desire. Even though I'm scared of the challenge, my mindset is "I'll definitely try it." I'm the type to get scared after I say I'll do it, then put all my effort into achieving it. Hedwig was the hardest. It's a show that has a lot of hardcore fans and is close to many people's hearts. Oh Manseok, Cho Seungwoo, Lee Kyuhyung, Ko Eunsong - having my name up with all of these amazing actors also put a lot of pressure on me. But then it was great to get a good evaluation for that. After doing Jamie and Hedwig, I thought I could do whatever role was given to me. I got hit hard with the vaccine. (laughs) The upcoming show The Three Musketeers was also difficult when we were practicing at the start, but now it's like it's almost done loading.
Tumblr media
Q8: Recently, we were able to meet the singer Ren through Listen Up and Music Bank. It made us want to know more about what kind of music solo singer Ren will have.
I've only been doing musicals so far, so I thought I should stay true to my day job. I got close with Ryan Jhun-hyung while working on NU'EST's album together, so it was through that connection that I appeared on Listen Up. Listen Up was a good start to solo singer Ren. It's good not to be too excessive or too ordinary on air. We're in the middle of planning for an album. As a solo artist, my music will be unique and full of my own personality. I have a lot of concepts and ideas. I'm anticipating showing a side different from NU'EST Ren.
Q9: What has kept you going this far?
It's really the fans. If I can say it objectively, if there weren't any fans, then I wouldn't be able to promote. So I want to satisfy them as much as they've waited for me. Fans, family, and friends are a huge motivation for me.
Q10: You've been active in many different fields. What are you most excited by? What's the direction of Ren as an artist?
There isn't a boring activity or an activity that isn't fun. Each one has its own appeal. There are fields that I'd like to try in the future. I definitely want to try media acting. Though it probably has a different feel from musicals, it must also have different charms too. I want to try distinct concepts and characters. Though with Bungee Jumping Of Their Own, it seems I can do even a normal part pretty well. (laughs) Any role is good. Also I want to be an artist who can bring happiness and laughter, as well as a good influence to the public. I don't want to limit myself and I hope to try everything. In this way, I think there will be a lot of chances for the public to know Ren as an artist.

#1 - It's been Busy Times for BTS during the last Year...Let's explore that.
Tumblr media
Today, I began this blog to share my pride in Jimin hitting the No 1. on the Billboard top 100, competing with BTS as being the only Korean acts to do so, but this led to thoughts of Suga's pending album and tour, J-Hopes and RM's recent album releases, and the different company's the boys have recently been representing etc, AND OT7's enlistment obligations, what it's meant for them and ARMYs.
Tumblr media
With each of the OT7 working on individual projects, it's easy to miss just how busy they've been.
The reality is, this is the frenzy before the cold spell hits ARMYs, but what a frenzy it is, and I respect thier trying to make that cold spell as short for us as possible!
It's impressive the amount of musical and visual content the BTS members have recently gifted the world since the beginning of 2022, while at the same time, helping themselves to slowly progress toward a new...singular mindset.
This is more interesting because they've not made this move because they WANT to but by necessity. I've no doubt that if they didn't need to enlist, their individual accomplishments we've recently seen would not be near as vast.
...Why?
Because BTS is comfortable being...BTS! It's their 'home' and they've never wasted an opportunity to share that belief or their love to make ARMY's proud. Understanding this important point allows us to open our minds and consider how damn hard this transition must be for them mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Before they went public announcing their hiatus, they'd have many questions to consider.
Tumblr media
How do they keep touch with ARMYs so they don't feel BTS is leaving them behind?
How do they do what's best for BigHit/HYBE as that IS an investment for them and their contributions have been the primary income that supports the company for many years, and now a big part of that contribution will be missing. How they market that situation will be essential for their future success in the company and HYBE's bottom line.
Many things are happening in the world, how do they continue to stay grounded and in tune with those changes while they find new fuel for their music?
How do they protect their interests while they are enlisted - ensure they are not forgotten or lose momentum that they cannot regain when they return in 2025/26? and many other questions.
Meanwhile, HYBE's been working to expand their assets both locally and abroad, which is a smart move for many reasons. I'm personally disappointed things turned so negative with their intent to invest more in SM...and I understand they've decided to sell all their current SM stock.
Can you imagine what a collaboration with say - SuperM and Jimin and/or JK, or just Taemin and Jimin would look like? They’ve proven in the past that they are darn hot together...and to think - they would have then been on the same team.....!
Tumblr media
Yea.. I'm bit disappointed about that, but I understand why HYBE didn't want to come off as the Bad Wolf when BigHit has been fighting wolves all the way to the top of their success and know it's not a nice feeling.
Also, I suspect it was tempting for BTS to enlist collectively, as they'd be able to regroup easier in 2025, but that would have meant a cold spell of more than 18 months for them AND ARMYs.
Tumblr media
The more content they are able to bring out during that window - the more we will keep them in mind. Even if it's just from individual members. Keeping involved keeps that connection with ARMYs open.
It makes sense for the boys to separate from the group on their own terms before they enlist so they can deal with their mixed emotions before they are faced with a whole new world. (JK comes to mind here...He's not admitting it, But I think we can see he's working through a few things right now. We just need to allow him the space and support to make this journey...his way.)
I also think it was smart for Jin to enlist on his own first, allowing him to share his experience and perspective with the boys before it's their time... Each member will have a different experience of course, but still - his thoughts will be helpful to them.
Tumblr media
So, now, the members have been fulfilling old promises to ARMYs, and completing long hanging projects, while working hard not to trip over each other's success, while still paving the road for their re-emergence in 2025/26.
Pacing those projects out is important.
Also, some might find this a strange train of thought, but this gradual progression of their enlistment will allow them to discover themselves as individuals, build on their strengths, and improve their areas of weakness at their own pace.
Tumblr media
After thirteen years of being a team, they've leaned on one another, which was GREAT, but it's allowed them to perhaps not work as hard on areas of themselves where they could or should as someone else could carry that weight them within the team.
They also need to learn to be on someone else's team.
We can't even begin to understand how hard that must be for them. when they left their own families to be raised by a record label for thirteen years. Now they need to adapt to being part of a military family.
I suspect, if they'd had their way with no military obligations, right now they'd be happily performing as BTS and many of these personal projects they've been completing would still be sitting on shelves somewhere because their comfort zone is with each other, and they were more comfortable standing on the stage together than standing alone.
Tumblr media
But, to an extent, wouldn't that have been a shame? Look what we've learned from this, the new sides we've seen of the boys, and all the fantastic new content they've shared with the world. My Spotify list is smothered with all their new diverse content and I'm loving how large that playlist is that focuses on their combined individual efforts.
While stepping out and shining individually has never been something they've ever expressed as a desire, I believe it will be worth it for everyone in the end as it allows them inner growth.
The uproar that went up during BTS's The Best is Yet to Come pre-release rollout when RM sadly expressed for the first time, BTS's intent to take a hiatus still makes me pause when I consider how the foreign media blew the situation out of proportion and how that temporarily affected HYBE's/BTS's bottom line.
As inadvertent as that drama was, it proved BTS's worth more than any other incident would have. The dumb thing about it, anyone considering the big picture of their future would have easily seen the necessity of that announcement without question. And I feel so sorry for RM having to take the brunt of the hit of that announcement.
Tumblr media
No one would want the task of telling the news to millions of fans, but being the leader, the responsibility fell on RM's shoulders. We learned that day just how much he loves his BTS family when we saw his tears.
I think this is the only time I've seen them all so deeply somber and unsure how to deal with the situation. They knew this was going to be chaotic and were heading toward unfamiliar territory.
So many people misinterpreted their pain, not realizing it was there because this wasn't a proactive decision, but one of necessity and the beginning of the change of an era of how we've grown to appreciate BTS, and the beginning of uncertainties as they decided how best to keep things together while they sorted out how to individually move forward with the intention of coming back together in the distant future.
We may have all been in denial, but deep inside, we knew they had obligations they'd soon need to fulfill - and would.
RM's announcement shouldn't have surprised anyone and only those who clearly didn't follow BTS would believe 'hiatus' meant disbanding for them. They've always said exactly what they meant.
ARMYs should also have been able to read between the lines regarding how important their enlistment obligations were for them.
Three trips to the United Nations, and an invite to the White House clearly sends that point home. The members of BTS have always proven to be individuals who stand up for what they believe, and who step up to fulfill their obligations.
They LOVE their country and represent it with pride.
in spite of their government having mixed feelings whether they should keep BTS out of the military to continue to create huge revenue for the country or allow them to serve, they've consistently stated their intent to fulfill their military obligations. So, the whole drama had to be exceptionally painful for the boys.
Tumblr media
Particularly since they received both support and criticism from either end of the spectrum and were reluctantly made an example of not only because of their country's indecisiveness, but also were put under the microscope of the world as their country instigated a major decision which appeared to be just for them.
Something perhaps, they'd not want to be remembered for by other Koreans, their fan base, or for themselves to look back on in their older years, but here too they were without choice, as they made history when the ...BTS Act (not the exact wording on that) was created just to delay their enlistment by two years and gain more revenue for the country before they enlisted.
It's no wonder after more than a year from when the controversy started, BTS became silently impatient until they stopped waiting for their government to decide what it wanted, and just began the process of enlisting.
Tumblr media
Now they've officially set the wheels in motion, they've some big challenges to address and goals to complete...
I'm interested to see what the following months will reveal of our Bangtan boys before they all fade temporarily into the shadows.
Tumblr media
All of that being said, I've decided to make some individual posts focusing on each of the members, discussing what they've been up thus far, since the beginning of 2022.
Originally, I'd considered this post to be just one blog with some brief points for each of them with a few pics of their recent accomplishments, but it soon became apparent, I had a hell of a lot more on my mind than I thought, and one blog wasn't going to satisfy me, so I hope you check those posts out as you see them!
Feel free to disagree with my opinions if you like, but if you respond...please be nice about it.
Thanks!

How to Raise Kids With Jesus’ Love & Kindness
When I speak to most parents they often say the same things that they want for their children: to be happy, healthy, smart and kind.
Kindness is a big part of being a Christian. We want to reflect, represent and be obedient to Jesus when He tells us to love one another, to care for the orphans and widows, to even pray for your enemies. But creating compassionate hearts is easier said than done.
I want to share my journey with you around raising my daughter, Isla. I am definitely one of those parents who lean more into the gentle parenting style. After gaining a BSc in Psychology, working in Positive Behaviour Support teams, and supporting families open to Social Work teams, I’ve learnt a lot over the years about childhood development and attachment. The methods aren’t over night behaviour resolvers, they take time, commitment, patience and care. But all of this I feel represents the Father’s heart towards us as His children and how He Father’s us.
One night Isla was having a particularly tricky time going to bed. She had just started a new nursery and she was displaying some pretty big feelings and hit out at me. In this moment I have the choice to respond in different ways. I can reprimand, shout, give consequences, etc. However I chose to look and see past her behaviour to what she was trying to communicate. Taking a deep breath to still myself, I calmly said, “I’m sorry you’re feeling mad and sad, but I can’t let you hit me. That’s dangerous, and we need to use safe hands”. I brought her, kicking and screaming into the bedroom where I told her that I would like to give her a “heart-to-heart hug”. This is where we hug front-to-front, or heart-to-heart. I have found that this is a beautiful way of helping her to dispense any tension in her body. And I hold her firmly, shhhhing in her ear rhythmically, and telling her, “You’re going to be ok”. She eventually calmed down and I took her to bed. I lay down in the dark on her floor next to her whilst she was trying to sleep and she whispered, “I love you mummy.” I whispered back, “I love you too. We’re friends,” to which she responded “We’re friends.”

I felt God in that moment say that Isla had displayed all her “ugly”. She’d been her worst version of herself, screaming, shouting, hitting. But in all of that I held her, I gave her boundaries and reminded her of expectations around behaviour. I didn’t judge, condemn, belittle or reflect her anger. But enabled a place of safety and security in which she could fall apart knowing that she could be held safely there. That I wouldn’t be scared of her “ugly” or remove myself from her. But that I was there with her in the thick of it. And that’s exactly what God does for us. In our ugliest moments, when we curse, lash out, hold on to anger and bitterness, He is the one that holds us. His presence is a calm anchor and steady rock in the storm of our emotions and choices. He does not condemn us, or hold it against us but He sees our hearts, our fears, our worries, our panic, our shame. The things that cause the behaviour. And He holds us. He protects us from wrath through His own forgiveness and speaks life and truth into us.
In our house (like many homes with small children) we have sang the songs from Disney’s Frozen over and over and over! And whilst—yes—I would love to be able to listen to a different album, there is a line from the song “Fixer Upper” which says:
“If you’re mad, or scared or stressed. Throw a little love their way and you’ll bring out the best.”
This is one of the mottos of our home. The way to combat anger, fear and overwhelm is through love. Jesus said that perfect love casts out all fear. Now, my love might not be perfect but it’s a start. In these moments where children are melting down the best thing we can do is show them love. Show them compassion. Represent the Father well.
In the morning after this incident, I went in to wake Isla up. She straight away began talking about a girl at school who she calls “Shouty Girl”. Yesterday, “Shouty Girl” had shouted at her. I said, “Oh, was it just you or everyone?” She replied, “Everyone.” “Oh, and so what did you do?” I asked. To which her reply blew me away: “I hugged her … and she hugged me.”
If we want to create kind and compassionate children, it must first start with us. How we represent it within our homes and model it to our children. To show them that they can let all their “uglies” out and it be ok. So that when other children are struggling and letting their “uglies” out, they know exactly what to do to help and are confident and caring in doing so.
In that moment, I couldn’t have been more proud of her. My kind, compassionate world-changer revealing the heart of the Father to those in need.

Hi Gina, I work (not very high up) for a record company, in PR. I just had a tidbit to share. A team I work with (far bigger branch than my own) recently had a meeting I was invited to attend. During that meeting, a big point of contention was the current need/desire to cater to tiktok during a soft launch process. This is nothing new, it’s been the general consensus for ages now that that platform has drastically shifted the process of our business, marketing, and production efforts. What was being argued was whether or not we should use a particular artist and plant their songs in new trends, to make it seem organic, or pay content creators to use them.
This is not overly interesting, but the reason I’m telling you is because someone far higher up than myself actually brought up Harry in our meeting. She said that, had Watermelon Sugar not been a tiktok trend to the degree it was, she wasn’t sure that it would have won the Grammy. And in fact, the industry was vying for The Weeknd to win that year, with having him at the Super Bowl halftime show. But WS took off outside of their control, and she mentioned that As It Was is on the same trajectory through socials. I just thought it was interesting, as they were implying that H’s team creates the trends that allow him to sort of guerilla market through tiktok, IG, etc, and that it was barely a day after AIW was released that it was the new song for every clip. It was implied that they are paying people to use it, which is a good strategy.
H is not usually a discussion on my team (very different corners of the market). Everyone had a lot of positive things to say about him, I however was deeply uncomfortable because I happen to know the name of his childhood pet, his best friends, and his husband’s preferred tea brand and didn’t want to expose myself, lol. Just thought you might find this interesting!
Hi sugar. I swear Tumblr hides anons from me and then they show up later. I'm sorry I didn't see this until just now.
So, I think this stuff is super interesting and yeah, I'd agree about WS. It's definitely not the best song on that album, but it had a life of its own. They may very well be paying people to use AIW. I agree it's a good strategy. I mean, even using Brittany Broski to host the preshow for the NY ONO was a very strategic move.
What's so interesting to me about this stuff is that Irving is notoriously old school. In fact, there was so much complaining about him refusing to use social media to Harry's advantage during HS1. But they definitely shifted tactics for Fine Line and seem to be doing even more for Harry's House.
I'm also very curious about the comment that the "industry was vying for The Weeknd" because he went on to be nominated for exactly zero Grammys. So that's super confusing to me.
And I'm chuckling over you trying not to expose yourself. HAHAHA! Thank you for sharing all of this.

Hi! I hope you’ll answer this question bc it bothers me quite a lot.. https://www.quora.com/What-does-it-mean-now-that-BTS-are-partial-owners-of-Big-Hit-Entertainment do you think it is true what the second person (Christine Herman) said? After reading this, i started to wonder…what if BTS does really have only profit in mind while doing new projects these days? Maybe they don’t really care anymore about creative and meaningful lyrics and sound? With Butter and PTD…all this generic music sung in English. Of course they say “we wanted to make fans feel good”, “butter and ptd represent who we are” and all these things fans want to hear but.. do you really think it’s true? moreover, don’t get me wrong, i don’t find product placement in their reality shows as something terrible, i believe this is a normal thing, however, nowadays the members really film ads and do marketing a lot. so yeah, for some reason i began to question their integrity dhsjjss i hope you will understand from where my concerns come from and won’t find this ask stupid sjdjjdjd
After reading that persons answer I can immediately tell you that I basically don't agree with an overwhelming majority of what she said (even more so since a lot of it just makes her sound like a manti that hates the company and basically would want them to make music for free or something). Generally I don’t agree with most of the opinions this person holds, and also Quora really isn’t a good source for info or good opinions, most of it is written by mantis, haters, and toxic shippers with an agenda so most ARMY will tell you to stay as far away from that website as possible.
Anyway, her focus in that answer was on money, since BTS are shareholders (and how that’s a conflict of interest despite other artists doing the exact thing but no one really cares or ever thinks about it), but what she failed to consider and note was that Big Hit Music, so BTS' label, isn't part of HYBE in the sense that shareholding has no baring on it since BHM is private. So while BTS profit off of HYBE doing well, and have a small percentage of a voice as shareholders, that has nothing to do with BHM in the classical sense, even if BHM's earnings reflect well on HYBE numbers and the shareholder money.
BHM was made private to ensure their artistry would remain untouched, that was the whole point of that.
Even if they weren't HYBE shareholders, take Namjoon as example. He has more than 170 KOMCA credits, is among the top 3 Korean artists with the most credits and is also the youngest of them all. It is said that his earnings from that alone can sustain his family for 3 generations over. Look at Hobi and Chicken Noodle Soup, that song was a hit and he paid the original creator of that song 2 million dollars upfront and earned a lot back due to how successful it was. Same goes for Hope World which, again, was and is still immensely successful. Look at Yoongi and his work both as prod. SUGA, featuring artist SUGA, and as Agust D, as well as the credits he holds for his work on BTS songs (giving him as well a total of over 100 KOMCA credits, just like Hobi). Bangtan have worked and continue to work extremely hard for their music, put their heart and souls into it, and it shows even if their style changed as they grew older and more mature.
Yes, money is a major motivator, but looking at the above paragraph, do you really peg the members as these corrupt money hungry sellouts with no music related integrity? Who would need to sign major deals and would throw away their passion to just release empty shells of music for the sole reason of money? Am I naive enough to believe that they don't care about money? Of course not, we live in a capitalist society and even if BTS wouldn't care about money anymore at this point, HYBE very much does, and yet still I can't find it in me to agree with any of what was said in that answer that person wrote.
More below the cut:
And that point about how Hyundai cars were sold out because of BTS, isn't that the point why literally any company ever hires celebrities to advertise and endorse their product? And sure, again, I'm certain they earned a lot on these deals, they aren't the first or last or only ones in the history of ever to do so. Besides, look at JK and what he's done for small companies, or Tae who wore a brooch made my a small creator at the airport which catapulted that creator into the eyes of millions of ARMYs enough so that they could move to a proper studio and earn money with their work. Or the modern hanboks JK wore which led to the brand being able to move into actual stores in malls because of their sudden new popularity and demand. Or him wearing a bracelet that helps whales with a percentage of the money from the sales of said bracelet. And for all of that JK and Tae didn't earn any money at all. JK himself said that he's more conscious of the brand he wears now because he wants to help smaller businesses in these trying times, not because they pay him to do so (especially since they would never be able to afford that), but because he's aware of the influence he has and how he can use it to help others. Sound very much like a capitalistic villain, right?
As for the product placement bit, have you been on YouTube recently? Have you noticed that many, if not most, YouTube videos by “bigger” creators (and by that I mean even people who are around the 100k subscriber mark) begin with them thanking whoever sponsored that particular video and give you a scripted minute to two minute long ad before getting into the actual topic of the video? And In The SOOP featuring Chilsung Cider, FILA clothes and the random mention of how good Samsung phones are isn’t much different from it, though really, if you’re not someone interested in fashion much, would you really notice or care that they wore FILA? It’s just...clothes? If it weren’t a BTS related show, would you even notice it much? And it’s not even like they mentioned those brands every five minutes or anything, just a few times, which sure sounded a bit out of place at times, but personally I thought it was easy to look past. That’s just how things work nowadays and it’s odd for people to behave like somehow BTS are the first and only ones to use product placements despite literally every movie and show doing it in subtle and less so manners.
The answer by that person you sent also mentioned the Hyundai song for their car IONIQ and, unsurprisingly, that person wrote it off as just some commercial jingle but I’d actually disagree with that. Not to sound like a Hyundai and Samsung stan, which I am neither of, but I actually think those two knew best how to utilize the artist they have spent millions on signing a deal with. Hyundai didn’t just write them off as pretty faces with a millions strong fan army behind them and that’s it, they remembered that they are musicians so they gave them a song and made a whole music video for it as well. And say what you will, it is a good song. Then, just a few days ago, Samsung stepped up their game and we were given Over The Horizon Prod by SUGA of BTS. For those who aren’t Samsung users, Over The Horizon is their signature ringtone and basically their company sound, and over the years different artists were asked to make their own version of it. And this time they reached out to Yoongi and asked if he’d like to do it as well. It’s kind of a big deal. Sure, Butter is used in one of their commercials much the way Dynamite was last year, but that’s beside the point. Would that person make the same claim about Imagine Dragons whose song Believer is also part of the ads for the new Samsung phones? I have my doubts.
Furthermore, and I don't want this to come across as mean toward you but, I think it is uncalled for to question their artistic integrity based on a total of 3 (three) English songs when last year alone we received 50+ songs, most of which were in Korean, among them the entirety of BE which was, according to the members, the album they were most involved in ever when it comes to both music and everything around it.
You can dislike their English songs, that’s more than fine, they have a very extensive discography you can listen to instead, but questioning their integrity based on them doing something that most, if not every, artist on their level does (as in sign ad deals with brands etc) is a bit much if you ask me. Does that mean indie artists whose songs get picked up for commercials (or for Netflix shows or movies) and thus it catapults them into the mainstream are also just money hungry people with no integrity and ones who don’t care about their music? Or is that, again, just a standard Bangtan is held to (as in that their integrity is questioned based on everything, even the most trivial/normal things) that only applies to them and no one else?
In the recent Weverse Magazine article about how Permission to Dance came to be there is a lot of talk about not only that song but also Butter and Dynamite, among the things being discussed and talked about they mentioned how the original lyrics for Butter were much more materialistic but that the members didn't like that so they asked for that to be changed. Likewise the original lyrics for Permission to Dance, as you'd expect from the penmanship of Ed Sheeran, were much more romantic, almost proposal like, which wasn't what the members wanted either so it was, again, adjusted in a way that would fit what they, as well as the A&R team, wanted. While you may not like these songs, they still had a say in them to a certain degree, could say yes or no and ask for adjustments. Why else would PTD take eight months?
While they might outsource their English songs, their main focus, so their Korean (as well as Japanese) discography is still centered around them, their lyrics, their songs, their sound. Of course you’ll also find outside producers and some lyricists on those as well, because that’s how music works these days, as in collaboratively, that doesn’t change anything at large. Their integrity is still very much there, their hearts are still in it, what other reason would any of them have to say that they want to continue for a long time, for Yoongi to say they want to figure out how to make their career last as long as possible, for JK to say that he wants to sing forever?
Admin 2 also wanted me to add that in their opinion, to a certain degree (though not fully of course), their English songs are like a way to laugh at and expose how shallow the English-centric music industry is. As in, while they made music in Korean with deep and meaningful lyrics, the US industry didn’t care but once they switched to easy to listen to sound with easy to understand English lyrics, they suddenly paid attention, are played on the radio, and even received a Grammy nomination which they wouldn’t have gotten for a Korean song ( A1: regardless how much Black Swan or Spring Day really would’ve deserved it...).

Recommendation engines and "lean-back" media
Tumblr media
In William Gibson’s 1992 novel “Idoru,” a media executive describes her company’s core audience:
“Best visualized as a vicious, lazy, profoundly ignorant, perpetually hungry organism craving the warm god-flesh of the anointed. Personally I like to imagine something the size of a baby hippo, the color of a week-old boiled potato, that lives by itself, in the dark, in a double-wide on the outskirts of Topeka. It’s covered with eyes and it sweats constantly. The sweat runs into those eyes and makes them sting. It has no mouth…no genitals, and can only express its mute extremes of murderous rage and infantile desire by changing the channels on a universal remote. Or by voting in presidential elections.”
It’s an astonishingly great passage, not just for the image it evokes, but for how it captures the character of the speaker and her contempt for the people who made her fortune.
It’s also a beautiful distillation of the 1990s anxiety about TV’s role in a societal “dumbing down,” that had brewed for a long time, at least since the Nixon-JFK televised debates, whose outcome was widely attributed not to JFK’s ideas, but to Nixon’s terrible TV manner.
Neil Postman’s 1985 “Amusing Ourselves To Death” was a watershed here, comparing the soundbitey Reagan-Dukakis debates with the long, rhetorically complex Lincoln-Douglas debates of the previous century.
(Incidentally, when I finally experienced those debates for myself, courtesy of the 2009 BBC America audiobook, I was more surprised by Lincoln’s unequivocal, forceful repudiations of slavery abolition than by the rhetoric’s nuance)
https://memex.craphound.com/2009/01/20/lincoln-douglas-debate-audiobook-civics-history-and-rhetoric-lesson-in-16-hours/
“Media literacy” scholarship entered the spotlight, and its left flank — epitomized by Chomsky’s 1988 “Manufacturing Consent” — claimed that an increasingly oligarchic media industry was steering society, rather than reflecting it.
Thus, when the internet was demilitarized and the general public started trickling — and then rushing — to use it, there was a widespread hope that we might break free of the tyranny of concentrated, linear programming (in the sense of “what’s on,” and “what it does to you”).
Much of the excitement over Napster wasn’t about getting music for free — it was about the mix-tapification of all music, where your custom playlists would replace the linear album.
Likewise Tivo, whose ad-skipping was ultimately less important than the ability to watch the shows you liked, rather than the shows that were on.
Blogging, too: the promise was that a community of reader-writers could assemble a daily “newsfeed” that reflected their idiosyncratic interests across a variety of sources, surfacing ideas from other places and even other times.
The heady feeling of the time is hard to recall, honestly, but there was a thrill to getting up and reading the news that you chose, listening to a playlist you created, then watching a show you picked.
And while there were those who fretted about the “Daily Me” (what we later came to call the “filter bubble”) the truth was that this kind of active media creation/consumption ranged far more widely than the monopolistic media did.
The real “bubble” wasn’t choosing your own programming — it was everyone turning on their TV on Thursday nights to Friends, Seinfeld and The Simpsons.
The optimism of the era is best summarized in a taxonomy that grouped media into two categories: “lean back” (turn it on and passively consume it) and “lean forward” (steer your media consumption with a series of conscious decisions that explores a vast landscape).
Lean-forward media was intensely sociable: not just because of the distributed conversation that consisted of blog-reblog-reply, but also thanks to user reviews and fannish message-board analysis and recommendations.
I remember the thrill of being in a hotel room years after I’d left my hometown, using Napster to grab rare live recordings of a band I’d grown up seeing in clubs, and striking up a chat with the node’s proprietor that ranged fondly and widely over the shows we’d both seen.
But that sociability was markedly different from the “social” in social media. From the earliest days of Myspace and Facebook, it was clear that this was a sea-change, though it was hard to say exactly what was changing and how.
Around the time Rupert Murdoch bought Myspace, a close friend a blazing argument with a TV executive who insisted that the internet was just a passing fad: that the day would come when all these online kids grew up, got beaten down by work and just wanted to lean back.
To collapse on the sofa and consume media that someone else had programmed for them, anaesthetizing themselves with passive media that didn’t make them think too hard.
This guy was obviously wrong — the internet didn’t disappear — but he was also right about the resurgence of passive, linear media.
But this passive media wasn’t the “must-see TV” of the 80s and 90s.
Rather, it was the passivity of the recommendation algorithm, which created a per-user linear media feed, coupled with mechanisms like “endless scroll” and “autoplay,” that incinerated any trace of an active role for the “consumer” (a very apt term here).
It took me a long time to figure out exactly what I disliked about algorithmic recommendation/autoplay, but I knew I hated it. The reason my 2008 novel LITTLE BROTHER doesn’t have any social media? Wishful thinking. I was hoping it would all die in a fire.
Today, active media is viewed with suspicion, considered synonymous with Qanon-addled boomers who flee Facebook for Parler so they can stan their favorite insurrectionists in peace, freed from the tyranny of the dread shadowban.
But I’m still on team active media. I would rather people actively choose their media diets, in a truly sociable mode of consumption and production, than leaning back and getting fed whatever is served up by the feed.
Today on Wired, Duke public policy scholar Philip M Napoli writes about lean forward and lean back in the context of Trump’s catastrophic failure to launch an independent blog, “From the Desk of Donald J Trump.”
https://www.wired.com/story/opinion-trumps-failed-blog-proves-he-was-just-howling-into-the-void/
In a nutshell, Trump started a blog which he grandiosely characterized as a replacement for the social media monopolists who’d kicked him off their platforms. Within a month, he shut it down.
While Trump claimed the shut-down was all part of the plan, it’s painfully obvious that the real reason was that no one was visiting his website.
Now, there are many possible, non-exclusive explanations for this.
For starters, it was a very bad social media website. It lacked even rudimentary social tools. The Washington Post called it “a primitive one-way loudspeaker,” noting its lack of per-post comments, a decades old commonplace.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/05/21/trump-online-traffic-plunge/
Trump paid (or more likely, stiffed) a grifter crony to build the site for him, and it shows: the “Like” buttons didn’t do anything, the video-sharing buttons created links to nowhere, etc. From the Desk… was cursed at birth.
But Napoli’s argument is that even if Trump had built a good blog, it would have failed. Trump has a highly motivated cult of tens of millions of people — people who deliberately risked death to follow him, some even ingesting fish-tank cleaner and bleach at his urging.
The fact that these cult-members were willing to risk their lives, but not endure poor web design, says a lot about the nature of the Trump cult, and its relationship to passive media.
The Trump cult is a “push media” cult, simultaneously completely committed to Trump but unwilling to do much to follow him.
That’s the common thread between Fox News (and its successors like OANN) and MAGA Facebook.
And it echoes the despairing testimony of the children of Fox cultists, that their boomer parents consume endless linear TV, turning on Fox from the moment they arise and leaving it on until they fall asleep in front of it (also, reportedly, how Trump spent his presidency).
Napoli says that Trump’s success on monopoly social media platforms and his failure as a blogger reveals the role that algorithmically derived, per-user, endless scroll linear media played in the ascendancy of his views.
It makes me think of that TV exec and his prediction of the internet’s imminent disappearance (which, come to think of it, is not so far off from my own wishful thinking about social media’s disappearance in Little Brother).
He was absolutely right that this century has left so many of us exhausted, wanting nothing more than the numbness of lean-back, linear feeds.
But up against that is another phenomenon: the resurgence of active political movements.
After a 12-month period that saw widescale civil unrest, from last summer’s BLM uprising to the bizarre storming of the capital, you can’t really call this the golden age of passivity.
While Fox and OANN consumption might be the passive daily round of one of Idoru’s “vicious, lazy, profoundly ignorant, perpetually hungry organisms craving the warm god-flesh of the anointed,” that is in no way true of Qanon.
Qanon is an active pastime, a form of collaborative storytelling with all the mechanics of the Alternate Reality Games that the lean-forward media advocates who came out of the blogging era love so fiercely:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/08/06/no-vitiated-air/#other-hon
Meanwhile, the “clicktivism” that progressive cynics decried as useless performance a decade ago has become an active contact sport, welding together global movements from Occupy to BLM that use the digital to organize the highly physical.
That’s the paradox of lean-forward and lean-back: sometimes, the things you learn while leaning back make you lean forward — in fact, they might just get you off the couch altogether.
I think that Napoli is onto something. The fact that Trump’s cultists didn’t follow him to his crummy blog tells us that Trump was an effect, not a cause (something many of us suspected all along, as he’s clearly neither bright nor competent enough to inspire a movement).
But the fact that “cyberspace keeps everting” (to paraphrase “Spook Country,” another William Gibson novel) tells us that passive media consumption isn’t a guarantee of passivity in the rest of your life (and sometimes, it’s a guarantee of the opposite).
And it clarifies the role that social media plays in our discourse — not so much a “radicalizer” as a means to corral likeminded people together without them having to do much. Within those groups are those who are poised for action, or who can be moved to it.
The ease with which these people find one another doesn’t produce a deterministic outcome. Sometimes, the feed satisfies your urge for change (“clicktivism”). Sometimes, it fuels it (“radicalizing”).
Notwithstanding smug media execs, the digital realm equips us to “express our mute extremes of murderous rage and infantile desire” by doing much more than “changing the channels on a universal remote” — for better and for worse.

💙Fri 11 Dec ‘20◟̽◞̽
Louis' big show is TOMORROW but that may not even be all we have to look forward to from him! Producer Alex Oriet (half of the duo Saltwives, who have worked with Zayn a lot, and he got his start working with 1D) reposted Louis' “new song” tweet to his insta with a caption- “soon”. OMG. Billboard had a 'year in livestreams' feature and wrapped up with Louis', saying “the best is yet to come” and reporting that Louis' show is Veeps' bestselling of the year “in excess of $1 million” (so either over a mil so far or a mil over the next best, hard to say, but it'll be well over a million by the end for sure so either makes sense).“I can't wait for tomorrow!” Louis tweeted, SAME, and “feels so good to be back with the boys getting ready. Can't wait for you all to see what we've been working on!” He included the brand new special Live From London twiiter emoji (!), it's a really cute lil vintage TV with the xx smiley on it, and a pic-- it's him looking over the backstage prep (so many screens) and you can see his hair flowing free and long and lovely! You can also see a piece of paper in front of him with 20 lines on it-- even if it is a set list I imagine some lines say “banter with crowd” and such like (as we saw on Louis' tour set list) but that's still soooo many lovely songs :))). Charlie Lightening says “this is going to be special, can’t wait for people to see what we have planned” and LTHQoffical is hitting us hard with the hype, posting another rehearsal pic (he's holding a beer and they didn't even scribble it out! wow almost like there's nothing wrong with that), and a time zone guide showing 66 cities around the world, and a digital fan pack, and they said more merch will be out tomorrow (heeelllp), and there's a show day itinerary-- ticket sales cut off 4 hours before the stream but much more interestingly, don't reopen (for the 28 hours of rewatch) until TWO HOURS after the start time. While they could (probably should) be allowing time for technical difficulties I much prefer to believe it's because we're getting a LONG SHOW YES PLEASE! I like my Louis shows like I like his hair, as long as he can possibly manage!! So that's plenty that we DO know to be excited about at the moment but the mystery of Louis new label also remains a hot topic nonetheless, with the known high cost of a twitter emoji stirring questions of who footed the bill (not something we're ever likely to find out sadly). If his team really understood us in the least they'd set up a viral video style Q and A where every Q pulled out of the bowl was an intensely detailed bookkeeping or promo strategy type query- tbh the faces Louis (or any one of the boys) would make would be 100x more entertaining than they get from any tired trying-to-be-cheeky standard Q and the answers sure would be!
Harry's prerecorded (months ago!) Jingle Ball performance aired at last and OH MY GOSH! SO GOOD! I think we can all agree (I know right?? I can't believe it either) that the backing band, Free Nationals, were phenomenal, and Harry's performance was terrific, just simply next level versions of the songs and Harry's sound in general. What more could we ask? For me, not much. For the Jingle Bell Ball organizers, well, they might have liked something Christmassy I suppose, maybe a holiday cover song, or a “tour of his home and holiday traditions.” LOL too bad! Whatever, they DID get vocal variations all over the place and oh did they work, a little lyric change in Golden (“I'm hoping someday I'll open”?), Harry in a sunny LA backyard (whose? who knows!) and everyone in not remotely festive Gucci. There were some decorations though! Not xmassy though- they were, can you guess, yes that's right: sky blue. And there was TRUMPET! A horn section, like revenge, is best served cold apparently: all these years on we can only assume Julian Bulian is good and sorry for denying Harry his trumpets cause DAMN did that sound GOOD. Julian may not say it but I will: you were SO RIGHT Harry, trumpets on every song!! Please! In fact, if you just took that guy on tour with you... or any of those people really? He can just have a really BIG backing band how about, then we won't have to argue about whether wanting this to be his band is mean to the old band. Anyway I hope the fan who ran into him in LA this morning told him how much we liked the show-- she did take a distanced pic, Harry is in his running gear (mostly black but bright fruity shoes) and holding a beverage. Oh yeah and Fine Line is now available to stream in “3D audio” (there's a moving in a New Direction from 1D joke in here headline writers, have at it) which is something that apparently only works with an Amazon device and is strange because physicists assure me that all sound is 3D, but what do they know. Anyway I'm sure it sounds great to those who can access it but luckily for me the album sounds great in plebian unbranded sound as well.
In the wake of Liam's no-show livestream yesterday fans are full of theories about what could be going on to cause such a thing, except actually it's only one theory; everyone is quick to ascribe the glitch to management struggles. May I simply say: there are so very very many things that could be happening in a person's life, even in a 1D member's life, that could cause a missed event and reducing any of them to 1 Dimensional figures who only have work related problems does them (and rigorous theorizing) a disservice. I hope we can all agree on wanting what's best for Liam, and that that extends to supporting him even if things are going on that are less glamorous than management villainy. I will ascribe one thing to management though-- I do believe the guys do the bulk of their own tweeting etc nearly always, but @Liam's tweet that yesterday's live didn't happen due to “technical difficulties” and they are “looking to reschedule” is one that I will make the exception for, sometimes you can just feel the PR person behind the screen! Tik Tok said it was rescheduled for next Tuesday, but the tweet was after that sooo hmm. The Billboard article about Veeps of course also talked about Liam (his Halloween show had 3.7 BILLION chat messages my god) and Liam's prerecorded alarm content today is Roman teaching Liam to do a Harry impression. How come when Roman does it it sounds like Harry but when Liam does it he sounds like Roman? Tip to Liam, just call it a Roman impression and you've GOT it!
Meanwhile, Lewis Capaldi weighs in on Niall and whether he (Lewis) enjoys golf with uncharaceristic delicacy; “we have different interests,” he says, and he sympathizes with a fan who said they'd slap him to meet Harry: “I understand.”

Hello babies and dear Anons 👋🏼🤗 I'm back with a new ‘Q&A’ post. Sorry, it took me longer than usual. I'll explain to you at the end of the post. For now, enjoy 🙃
Tumblr media
I've already talked about it here, dear Anon, https://fa-by.tumblr.com/post/648194553804881920/%C9%9F (first question) and then here https://fa-by.tumblr.com/post/648194746313031680/%C9%9F (fifth question).
Tumblr media
And who said I think Camila is a lesbian, dear? 😏 Maybe you mistaken me for some other blog? Because, I've never said that, dear. I've never been asked about it 🤷🏻‍♀️
Tumblr media
You must be new to my blog if you're asking me this question, dear Anon. Welcome 🤗 and my answer is no, dear. Neither of them has ever cheated on the other. They're both way too loyal for that shit.
Tumblr media
No, dear Anon. And always keep in mind that this is just my opinion and that therefore I could be wrong.
Tumblr media
Hello to you too, dear Anon 👋🏼😄 First of all, thank you 🥺🥰 Thank you very much for your words, dear, you're super nice and I really appreciated it very much 🤗
As for stuck, we didn't fight or anything like that. I guess we just drifted apart 🤷🏻‍♀‍ even before she entered the Marvel world, but I can't tell you why she never liked and re-blogged my posts, dear 🤷🏻‍♀️
Let's call it my flaw if you want, but I don't like any posts myself (not even my girlfriend's), but that doesn't mean I don't like many posts I see. It's just the way I am 😅 I leave comments every now and then though 😅 And neither does it mean I wouldn't like to interact with you guys if you ever want to contact me or tag me or get me involved in something. It may not seem like it maybe because I don't re-blog and put likes around, but trust me, it's not like that.
Going back to stuck, I really can't tell you why. I mean, I'm not her so I can't answer you. Maybe you should ask her directly, dear. @stuckinapatriarchalbullshitland
I hope you have a very nice day too, dear Anon. Thank you so much again, and please, be sure to take care of yourself too 😘
Tumblr media
Hello to you, dear Anon 👋🏼😄 and don't thank me, dear 🙈 It's really a pleasure for me to interact with you guys and help you in any way I can 😊
So. Yeah, I think what you think, dear. Mila was definitely the one to make the first move, but as far as putting aside pride and the decision to give it another try, it was something they both did because they each had their own reasons. Remember, dear, there are two people in a couple.
Tumblr media
Hey dear sneaky little one 👋🏼😄 I'm good. How are you? It's a pleasure, dear, you don't have to thank me for that 😊
I'm not sharing them with you guys yet just because they're personal observations that not everyone can agree on and, as you may have noticed, I like to tell you guys what I think with real facts that I can prove. In this case, it would be like in this picture:
Tumblr media
I hope that with this example you understand better what I mean, dear sneaky little one. Come back any time you want and take care of yourself too 🤗😘
Tumblr media
Hey dear Anon, why are you so down? 😟 Don't be 🤗 I know it's hard to think positively about them, but think about everything we've endured so far. Think about how strong we are. Whatever's thrown at us, it won't change our minds because we know the truth. Now, come on, dear, smile 😁 Enjoy the small wins instead of having them ruined for you by the possible eventuality of them doing something. And remember, we're in this together 💪🏼
Tumblr media
I swear to you that when I saw it, I was like 📢🔊 Your loving takes me higher 🎵 You set my heart on fire🎵 When you touch my body got me singing like Mariah!!!! 🎵🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tumblr media
Hello to you, dear Anon 👋🏼😄
1) No, dear, you can't force something on someone who agreed to do things like this in the first place. I'll explain better. PRs are accepted by those directly involved, who then sign a contract. It's a commitment they're bound to respect from the moment they have accepted and signed the contract. If they don't respect it, they then have to pay the consequences (if you’re interested, I wrote a post about how PR relationships work here: https://fa-by.tumblr.com/post/648193061847023616/pr-stunt-relationships-%C9%9F). I'll give you a silly example. Think of it as when one day you didn't want to go to school but you had to go anyway. It's pretty much the same dynamic because even if you didn't want to go that day, or several days, you knew you had to and you did. I hope it went well as an example 😆
2) Yes, but which of the two teams, well, that depends, dear. It depends on who's reaching whom and where. It depends on whether they're traveling together or not. And it depends on the purpose of that particular stunt, like if is some particular event or not.
3) No, dear, absolutely not, don't worry 🤣 Everyone has their own room. The rooms are very likely to be close together though, or at least on the same floor, that's for sure.
4) Yes, when possible, of course. The more people see the couple doing everything together, the more believable they seem.
Don't thank me, dear, it's really a pleasure 😊 Have a good day too ❤️
Tumblr media
Not necessarily, dear Anon. Mila started work on her third album during the pandemic in her studio, so no one had to pay for her. Besides, when a contract expires and there's a re-sign, it doesn’t necessarily mean that an announcement will be made about it since the record label is still the same. Announcements are made if there's some kind of important addition, such as for example happened with 5H when they had to re-sign as a quartet for legal reasons with Syco/Epic, and it was only announced because of the addition of a contract with Sony Music as the sponsor for their last album.
Having said that: 1) Since her movie has been postponed again, I would say in 2022. 2) I really hope not because they would be really stupid to do it again. Plus, I don't think the PR will last until the released of her album. 3) I have to admit you made me giggle here, but no, dear 😂 don't worry. Producers, composers, songwriters, etc., work with a lot of different artists who have different styles. Mila’s nothing like Chimp, and she can’t do anything boring. It isn't in her blood. No pun intended at all there 😏🤣
Tumblr media
Hi to you, dear Anon 👋🏼😄 and you got it right, buddy! We think the same way!
They had gotten to a really bad point in their relationship. A point where they were no longer themselves, either in the couple or individually. For me, what happens in the Havana music video is what happened in reality as well. It was obviously told in an artistic and funny way there. Like the scene of Juan literally ‘coming out of the closet for her’ because he thought it was the best thing for their relationship. In that scene, he gets down on his knees to ask her to marry him, but in reality, at least for me, it represents December. It represents the ‘begging’ in a disguised and artistic soap opera way. It represents Lauren's last attempt to make things work between them. Which is related to the “You love me”, “I do love you. But I love me more” scene in which Camila leaves everything behind. And if you think about it, we can also find this connection somewhere else: 🎶 “Nobody talks about walking away when there's still love” 🎶. Always Love by Laur. Luckily, at the end of the video, she really is ‘took back to her Havana’ as it also happened in reality.
It's all connected, dear. There's a connection and an explanation for everything they do artistically. Just pay attention and you'll be able to connect the dots like you did in this case too. Give me a virtual high-five! 🖐🏼 And have a good day too, dear Anon ❤️
Tumblr media
Hello to you, dear Anon 👋🏼😄 Thank you very much, dear, and don't worry, I've been never asked that. So. Before answering your questions, let's take a look at the facts, okay? Especially for the baby Camren shippers.
Leilani is Dinah's aunt by marriage. She has always interacted with fans and we saw her in several videos even with Dinah herself, but the first time she showed herself to us as problematic was on July 18, 2016. Leilani tweeted an attack on Taylor Swift and apologized the next day by saying of having been hacked:
Tumblr media
Yeah, suuure, because hackers around the world were waiting for nothing but hacking her 🙄 But let's move on. September 8, 2016, was the day Laur cried several times during the concert in Phoenix, Arizona. The next day, on the 9th, before the concert in Irvine, California, Laur tweeted to thank the concerned fans, and Leilani replied to the tweet by exposing L because of the ‘her’:
Tumblr media
On December 21st, 2016, she did a live where she talked about Camren after fans asked her about it: https://va.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_qvandqF63c1ykfr3q.mp4  (I also put the sub in the video myself)
On January 8, 2017, she posted two Snapchat stories in which she spoke again about Camren with one of her nieces: https://va.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_qval74yFz61ykfr3q.mp4
On January 29, 2017, both Camila and Lauren blocked her on social media:

She continued to strike by attacking Camila months later. On July 13, 2017, the same day the 5H interview with Billboard came out, Leilani attacked her by basically calling her a whore. Tweet to which C replied with suspense dots and a Rihanna GIF:
Tumblr media
On December 5, 2017, Camila posted the album cover and title by saying that the pre-order would've been possible from the 7th. Because of the album cover picture, Leilani attacked with the first tweet on December 5th, and continued on the 6th:
Tumblr media
Then nothing else problematic.
Yes, of course she knew about Camren. All the people close to them know about Camren. Leilani has always been a person who likes attention. She has always liked to show off and be noisy and messy in doing so. It didn't matter how ridiculous she was or that her actions fell upon her niece. The fact that she seemed to be joking and that she was always so evasive and confusing on the subject, is because she herself knew she was going to pay the consequences. She could never have said “yes, they're real” and stick to it. Also because the one who would've paid the most consequences would've been Dinah. You know, being her aunt, it was like her responsibility. And I think D really paid the consequences for something she didn't do. At least, before the sharks took the reins and told her what to do (Leilani through Dinah). It’s happened to a lot of people close to them to get involved over the years. It has been noticed a lot more from 2015 onwards, but especially in 2017 to increase the story of the fake feud between the girls.
So basically, yeah, she was problematic and loud and messy and all of that, but for the most part, she was just following the script.
Tumblr media
Hi to you, dear Anon 👋🏼😄 welcome and thank you very much 🙃 My answer to your question is yes, they've been for a long time by then. You'll find more details on all of that dynamic below in the next ask, dear.
Tumblr media
Kinda? 🤣 Okay, let me explain, dear Anon. There was no cheating if this is what you thought with my first answer. But let's go in order. I'll shed some light on the story with Luis once and for all.
Luis Santos' first appearance for us was on January 13, 2013 when Laur posted this picture on IG:
Tumblr media
One year later exactly, on January 13, 2014, L posted this picture:
Tumblr media
Then we have the one on February 24th (when the girls arrived in Miami because they had three dates in Florida for The Neon Lights Tour) and those of February 25th, 2014 after the concert (posted the day after):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have the one of April 13, 2014:
Tumblr media
The prom ones of May 17, 2014, which were the last pictures with Luis that Laur posted:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly, we have Laur’s birthday one posted by Luis:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The latter lets us understand that their story officially began on January 27, 2014. We don't know when it ended exactly (let's suppose at the beginning of July) because we only had confirmation of it in August thanks to the explanation that Clara gave for that fake scandal:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now. This is the official story. The one we should’ve bought. But let me show you the behind the scenes. This is Melanie Mueller, Luis's ex:
Tumblr media
Luis was in a relationship with Melanie from early August (unfortunately, Luis and Melanie's profiles are all private, but not Melanie's old Twitter) until, according to the narrative, late November 2013:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is where the juicy stuff begins. Luis stated that he and Mel were no longer together:
Tumblr media
The date coincidentally matches the beginning of his relationship with Lauren on January 27, 2014, right? Right. So how do you explain the fact that Luis and Mel were on a romantic date exactly 13 days after he said they weren't together anymore?
Tumblr media
As you can see from the date, it was February, and weren't Lauren and Luis already together since January 27th? 😏 The funny thing is that they kept interacting and taking pictures together:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there's the best part. The Camren shippers went wild that year in replacing Luis's face with Camila's twice. The first one with the prom picture 🤣:
Tumblr media
And the second one with April picture. Sorry, I really tried but I couldn't find the original manip. But don't worry, I have two better things 😏:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ohh, I think we know, Mel 😎
And how can we forget one of the many things that remained in the fandom's history and which coincidentally happened just in February a week before the picture of Luis and Melanie's romantic date:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that I've given you proofs, it's theory time. We know about the friendship with benefits, the Like Friends Do situation that Camren had, and we know that Lauren was in denial. Luis was a shield. Her shield, especially for the public. It wasn't a PR created by the labels, but by Lauren herself. Laur and Luis were friends, and I mean, they still have been for years. Laur simply asked him for a favor and he accepted. Laur stayed in Miami throughout the Christmas period until the first week of January 2014 before flying to L.A. with the girls. It was then, in that time spent at home that she asked him, and despite knowing the risks, despite knowing he would face fans' hatred, and despite having a girlfriend, Luis agreed to be the fake boyfriend just to help his friend in need. I don't think she told him the real reason behind it right away, but she definitely told him once she and Mila finally got together. Laur came out to her family in early 2015, but it doen't mean she didn't to her friends before. Especially once she and Mila became official in April 2014.
So, dear Anon, yes, in a way, Lauren was with Camila and Luis, but in reality, she was never with Luis.
Tumblr media
Hi to you, dear Anon 👋🏼😄 Thank you very much, dear, and that's okay. I don't mind helping when and if I can. It's not a problem at all for me 😊
So, as far as Lolo's situation is concerned, I honestly think Columbia has very little to do with her situation. I mean, Columbia is the biggest record label under Sony Music and has always had a lot of successful artists. From the great names that have made history to the most recent but still famous ones: Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Celine Dion, Paul McCartney, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Jay Z, Adele, Alicia Keys, Ricky Martin, Pharrell Williams, Robbie Williams, Katy Perry, Shakira, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Diplo, OneRepublic (Ryan Tedder), Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles, Zain Malik, Little Mix, Calvin Harris, BTS, Lil Nas X, Meghan Trainor, etc., etc., etc. Believe me, there are really, but really many names that I haven't put in this list.
The purpose of a record label is to make money. To do that, the label finds an artist. The label decides if it's worthwhile for them to sign the artist by investing and advancing the money on them, and if the label believes they can make money with their music, then they don't think twice before signing them. So they invest in the artist, develop them, promote them through the artist's team, and distributes their music in exchange for a percentage of the revenues. If things go smoothly and well, there's a gain, but if things go wrong, the label loses money. [If you want to know more about how the music world works and what the girls had to go through, I wrote a post about it here: https://fa-by.tumblr.com/post/648192055443619840/how-the-music-world-works]
Now, what did I mean by that? As I said before, Columbia is the number one, the biggest and most important umbrella music label under Sony Music Entertainment. So why on earth would a label as big as Columbia Records have signed Lauren and invested in her, but then thwart her and lose a lot of the money they invested themselves? It wouldn't make any sense because it would be like self sabotaging themselves! And what did I say is the purpose of a record label? To make money. Don't be fooled by anyone about it, dear.
I could have understood if this had been an isolated case; if Laur had been the only one among the girls (LAND) who hadn't released an album. But it's not like that. Something, and I'm 100% convinced it's something from their old contracts, has held all four of them up until now. We'll see, dear Anon. Sooner or later, the truth will come out because it always does. Even if it takes years.
Don't apologize, dear, really 😊 Hope things are great with you too and please, take care of yourself too 🤗
Tumblr media
Hey to you, dear Anon 👋🏼😄
Nada is a song that is part of Tainy's EP called Neon16 Tape: The Kids That Grew Up on Reggaeton, and it's about how two people in an unofficial relationship want completely different things. The guy doesn't want anything serious unlike the girl.
Now. I understand why you're confused, dear. After reading the lyrics and thinking about Camren, you've surely wondered “Where the fuck is Camila in all of this? But does it have something to do with her, or not?”. Well the answer is no. You see, dear, we're used to hearing a lot more Mila's songs than Laur's. When Mila writes, she writes for herself. She writes from her point of view and according to her experiences. Same thing Laur does. But Mila, unlike Laur, can't write a song for other people. She can't detach herself from them when she's writing them. Take as examples all those songs she gave away after finishing them, like Anyone or Ain't Easy. When you listen to them, you can clearly hear Camila all over it even if the song is being sung by someone else, like in these two examples, Justin Bieber and Elijah Woods. But with Laur? Nah, because Lauren can completely detach herself from them.
Take More Than That as an example. Laur didn't write More Than That for herself; she just ‘decided’ to keep it (because it was okay for the narrative she had going on at the time). If she had really given it to someone else and then you had listened to it and knew she was the one who had written it, you would've thought “Really?” with a wtf expression as the first thing. Right? Because you recognize Laur in the song only because you know she's behind it. Am I wrong? And don't get me wrong, dear, this is not by all means a bad thing at all. I'm not saying this as an insult or anything. Quite the opposite actually. I think it's absolutely amazing. Think about it. It's basically the work of songwriters and ghostwriters who only work behind the scenes for other artists. Gosh, they're both so fucking talented 😍
Anyway. What was I getting at with this? To the fact that the same thing happened here with Nada. Nada was written by four songwriters and we have two different points of view to represent the couple in the story. The one of the girls, Laur and Cris Chil (she also worked and wrote with her for Lento), and the one of the boys, C. Tangana and Tainy (like Cris, he wrote with her and produced Lento). Now. I can't tell you who the real protagonist behind the story of the song is because none of them said it, but it's definitely not Lauren. Laur just went with the flow.
Before starting, I would like to also publicly thank my girl @romanticentropy for helping me with the translation (her first language is Spanish), so thank you again, my love 🥰 And I'm not talking about the literal translation. I'm talking about the real meaning behind it since the meaning of many sentences or words can change even based on a simple comma. Therefore, here below you'll find the real translation along with notes placed in parentheses with various explanations. I don't know if you speak Spanish, dear Anon, but we did this for all those people here who don't speak it so that everyone can understand the true meaning of the song.
That said, let's get started.
Verse 1:
“Como te arrimes sí te voy a dar
If you dare come close, I’ll give you [implied: my dick]
Me he puesto guapo pa' verte pasar (Yeah)
I got myself all dressed up to watch you go by (Yeah)
No me pregunte', no quiero pensar
Don't ask me, I don't want to think
No tengo tiempo, no me pue'o casar
I don't have time, I can't get married
Pero, puedo quererte de nuevo
But, I can love you again
Dejar todo el resto pa' luego
[implied because the two sentences go together: And] leave everything else for later
Quedarme pa' ti, que más quieres de mí
To stay for you, what else do you want from me
No odies al jugador odia al juego
Don't hate the player, hate the game
Yo no me he inventado na' (Qué va)
I didn't make anything up (Not at all / Of course not) [‘Qué va’ is an expression, particularly from Spain, that means something like ‘How could you have thought that? Of course not’ said in a casual tone. So, ‘not at all’ is a possible interpretation because he's reassuring he really didn't make anything up]
Sobrevivo en la ciudad (¿Qué?)
I survive in the city (What?)
Me la busco pa' ganar, cien monedas pa' gastar
I'm looking to earn, a hundred dollars to spend [In this sentence, the comma is very important because in ‘me la busco pa' ganar’ read alone, it means that he's finding his ways to earn a living or a better life. When you add ‘cien monedas pa' gastar’, it extends to ‘he's finding his way to earn $100 to spend’, but the comma is important because it keeps alive the idea that he's not only working for the 100 dollars, but also for a better life (possibly a rich kind of life, but that's not necessarily implied)]
Una cama pa' dormir, y un yate pa' vacilar
A bed to sleep in, and a yacht to show off on”
What do we understand from this? That he's actually the one who doesn't want to have a serious relationship because his goal for the moment is to earn and live a good life, not to settle down and get married.
Pre-Chorus:
“Tú ya sabías to' lo que había
You already knew what to expect / You already knew what the situation was
No me hagas cambiar, vida mía
Don't make me change, my darling [He sings ‘vida mía’, which means ‘my life’. Calling someone ‘my life’ is not used in English because it makes no sense in the definition of the language itself. So, in this case, it's translated and used as a loving nickname. As you could call someone ‘my love’, ‘my heart’, ‘my baby’, or ‘my darling’]
Yo te doy hasta que se haga de día
I'll give you until it's daylight
Yo te doy hasta que se haga de día
I'll give you until it's daylight [‘Darle a alguien’, ‘to give to someone’ in Spanish has a sexual connotation. It means you're going to have sex with that person. It’s especially used from a male point of view; particularly this last line, he means he'd have sex with her all night until it's day again]”
He basically tells her: “You knew I'm an asshole. Don't try to change me because it's useless. The only thing I can give you is whole nights of sex”.
Chorus:
Sigue' dándome na', dándome nada
You keep giving me nothing, giving me nothing
Can't keep up with your vibe
'Cause you're up and you're down, 'round and you're 'round, babe
I can not read your mind
Conté lo' día' pa' volverte a ver
I counted the days to see you again
Y tú ni sabe' qué quiere' hacer
And you don't even know what you want to do
Cuando me vaya no voy a volver
When I leave I won’t come back
Sigue' dándome na', dándome nada
You keep giving me nothing, giving me nothing”
This is an ultimatum. “If you keep giving me nothing for much longer, I'll leave you without looking back”.
Verse 2:
“Yo no estoy para regalarte
I'm not here to please you [The literal translation of that is ‘I'm not here to give you’. The incomplete sentence opens an ambiguity where you don't know if she’s saying ‘I'm not here to give you anything’, or ‘I'm not here to give you things’, or ‘I'm not here to fulfill your wishes’, or ‘I'm not here to please you’, or things like that that make you understand that if he's not ready to pay attention to her right now and give her the love she needs, and he's clearly not because he's ‘giving her nothing’, she's not just going to wait there by begging for some love or collecting the crumbs that he leaves behind. She's saying “give me the love and the attention I need or I'll go away on my own”. So overall, ‘I'm not here to please you’ is a decent interpretation]
Ni tampoco para esperarte
Nor to wait for you
Ese dinero no te va a cuidar
That money won’t take care of you
No te pido matrimonio, yo sólo tu arte
I'm not asking you to marry me, just your love [That's the real meaning behind the sentence despite the literal translation being this: I'm not asking you to marry me, just your art]
Cuando no estoy ahí
When I'm not there
Sé que preguntas por mí
I know you ask about me
Sé por qué eres así
I know why you're like this
I know you're afraid of falling in too deep
We can pretend like we’ve only done this for the fun of it
Pero no te sorprendas si te enteras que así como tú hay mil
But don't be surprised to find out there are a thousand just like you around”
Basically: “I'm not asking you to marry me, just to have a real relationship. An exclusive relationship. We can continue to pretend that we just had fun, but I know there's something deeper. I know you're afraid of falling in love with me, but if you keep wanting this kind of relationship, then I'm gonna go find someone who wants the same things as me; also because there are a lot of guys out there and I'm starting to get tired of waiting”.
And that's all, dear Anon. Now that you know the real translation *thanks once again, mi amor 💖* , can you see anything that has to do with Mila? Because I don't. In fact, if I really have to find an association with Camren, the only thing that comes to my mind is that Lauren could have written some parts of her verse from Camila's point of view when they were still just fuckbuddies. You know? Since it was Laur who was initially in denial and was afraid, and not Camila. She was the one who was afraid of the idea of even liking Mila, let alone falling in too deep. But it's not like that. There's nothing of Camila here. There's no Camren here. For me, this song is the story of one of the three (Cris Chil, or C. Tangana, or Tainy) and Laur only contributed to it with her talent.
Tumblr media
Of course I can, dear Anon 😉
So. Camila created In the Dark the day after going to the Grammys' after-party (February 12, 2017) with which she went with Ashlee as her date of hers. Mila said she got the idea for the song because of the encounter she had at that party with this unnamed famous guy. Yeah, sure, Jan. We know very well that this is not the case. Just as we know very well that that was the same night in which Tyren had their first public appearance as a fake couple. If you're interested, I've already explained all this also with proofs in my previous post: https://fa-by.tumblr.com/post/653296412485894144/romanticentropy-fa-by-hiiii-babies-and-dear (last question in my All These Years' interpretation).
If you don't mind, dear Anon, I'll start with the verses because they're the only parts of the song where Mila isn't addressing Lauren directly. In the verses, Camila just observes her by describing their surroundings.
Verse 1:
“Blank stares, faithless
Vampires at the same places
Shadows, traces”
Okay, let's talk about those types of parties for a moment. I bet that when you think about it, you picture a lot of celebrities having fun and dancing, glam, alcohol, drugs, music, and all those kinds of things, right? Well, that's just as true as it isn't. You see, there aren't just celebrities at those parties. There are one or more of they team members, there are A&R representatives of various labels, CEOs, publicists, producers, marketing representatives, radio and television presenters, reporters, designers, advertisers, etc., etc., etc. Those parties are the epicenter of business-talk. Very often, this is where ideas for collaborations, for PRs, for endorsements and sponsorships, for movie and TV appearances, etc., etc., happen. For those celebrities who have to be there for business reasons and not for actually having fun, those parties are pretty boring.
With those sentences, Mila describes all the people around her during that party. Those people who aren't having fun because they're surrounded by what she calls vampires. Before they marketed them by making them sparkle in the sun because of the crystals on their skin, or before they made them wear a gemstone in daylight rings, bracelets, and amulets to make them walk in the sun, you know? Before they become basically trendy, vampires were always the villains. But don't get me wrong with that. I saw the Twilight saga and I love love love The Vampire Diaries, but the fact remains that before all of that franchise, vampires have always been used in horror and scary genres because they're evil. Also because if you think about it, what do vampires do? They suck blood by basically feeding on the life force of creatures by draining them to survive and not decompose since they're undead. They need to take a life to keep living theirs, so yeah, they are the bad guys.
So Mila here describes both the bored people, the ones with blank stares who in those cases are the shadows of their true selves because they're pretending to be who they aren't, and those people of power as bloodsuckers, life-suckers: vampires. And I don't blame her at all because that's what they do. Vampires, or puppet masters, or parasites, or as you guys know I like to call them: sharks.
“I know that you feel me”
Now. Now, now, now, now, now, now. What does this sentence make us understand? Picture you're in a place full of people. Picture pretending that you're having fun because you can't show how much you actually want to be somewhere else. Picture smiling and forcibly laughing at the bullshit someone's saying. It's all about image. Now picture seeing someone you know amidst that sea of people. You and this person are far from each other, and at the moment, you both are busy talking to other people. Even though you turned around to keep having this oh so great conversation with those people, you can feel the person you know. You can feel their presence despite being on opposite sides. You can totally feel that they're still looking at you, and you have confirmation of that the moment you turn towards them again.
Apply all of this on Camren now. We know how they've always attracted each other. We know how they've always searched and checked each other when they were on opposite sides of a room. We know how they've always felt each other. So it's not that hard for me to picture how it went in this case. I understand what Mila means when she says she knows Laur could feel her despite the place and all the people around them. Because it's always been that way between them, and we've actually seen them do it many times.
Verse 2:
“Plus one, guest list
But you don't even know what her name is
Secrets, endless
I know that you feel me”
This is a repetition similar to the first verse. Mila here continues to describe the people around her and those around Laur. People who are there because they're on a list thanks to someone they don't even really know. People who in those events become totally fake because they all have secrets to hide, including the two of them. People who pretend to be friends with each other just for a matter of image without even knowing their real names, their real selves. People who are so used to wearing a mask that they've by now become that mask. And among all the sea of these people, Mila knows that Laur can feel her. Evidently as much as she can feel Laur.
Refrain:
“You’re runnin', runnin', runnin', runnin' (oh)
Making the rounds with all your fake friends”
As I said before, many celebrities wear a mask, this facade for protection. They do it to show themselves as unproblematic and to show themselves almost as perfect in the eyes of others. If you think about it, it's the same thing we see in many celebrities and even in Camren when they have to promote something. Neither of the two of them has problems showing themselves to us in a vulnerable, authentic way, without make-up ‘al natural’. But as soon as they have to promote something, bam! Dresses, nails done, make-up, and hair. It's quite normal on the one hand. I understand that. But the problem, as Mila herself said, is when this fake persona takes over your authentic self.
In this part, Mila explains how she was observing Lauren's behavior. This facade that she was wearing because they were in that kind of environment with those kinds of people and those fake friends (yes, including Tabloid). This mirage that allowed her to run and hide her true self from everyone, even from Camila herself.
“Runnin', runnin' away from it (away)”
Especially in this part, and despite having seen her fake act many times before, Mila lets us understand how Lauren was 'running' and suppressing/hiding her authentic self in front of everyone. [I remember that period. Lauren didn't act like Lauren for a while]
You can strip down without showing skin, now”
Okay, this? This sentence right here, it's magic. It's pure art. “It's okay to show the realistic side of yourself without exposing yourself and also having to show your secrets or what you want to keep to yourself. There's no need to act like a completely different person from who you are”. Camila leaves me more and more speechless with her way of writing and expressing such true and profound concepts.
Pre-Chorus:
“I can see you're scared of your emotions
I can see you're hoping, you're not hopeless
So why can't you show me?
Why can't you show me?
I can see you're looking for distractions
I can see you're tired of the acting
So why can't you show me?”
The pre-chorus explains itself quite well. Mila's saying “I know you. I see what you're doing. I see your fear. I see the way you want a way out. I see how tired you are of this farce. So why are you faking it? Why are you faking it in front of me? Why are you faking it with me? Show me the real Lauren. Not this industry puppet. Show me the Lauren I know”.
Chorus:
“Who are you in the dark? (I, I)
Show me the scary parts (I, I)
Who are you when it's 3AM and you're all alone
And L.A. doesn't feel like home? (I, I, I)
Who are you in the dark?”
Who are you in the dark? = Who are you when no one's watching. Who are you when no one can judge you. Who are you when you're alone and you can really lower that protective barrier you create around you. Show me that. Show me all of you.
Camila mentions 3AM because, as we well know thanks to their other songs, it was the nighttime hours when they were able to spend more time together freely. She also mentions L.A. to make a comparison with Miami since Los Angeles is the second city they spend the most time in due to their careers.
If in the pre-chorus Mila really asks her to show her her true self, here in the chorus she instead asks her a rhetorical question accompanied by the explanations themselves like the specific examples 3AM and L.A. to make/show her point even more. Basically the same explanation as the pre-chorus: “Who are you, because I know, I know you, so why don't you show me?”. And I really love this connection between pre-chorus and chorus.
Bridge:
“Darling, come on and let me in
Darling, all of the strangers are gone, they're gone
I said, darling, come on and let me see”
The difference between the pre-chorus & chorus and this, is the more affectionate way she addresses her. She's asking her in a cute way also thanks to the use of that classic old-school pet name, to open up and show herself. She's telling her that it's okay now that they're alone. And most importantly, she's reassuring her with this:
“Darling, I promise that I won't run”
After hurting each other, after the omissions and the secrets, after the fights, after the non-communication, after that toxicity, in short, after everything they'd been through in those years and the way things had ended between them almost two months prior, this is really serious. She's promising her that she'll stay. That's the first step, or at least what we know was the first step thanks to this song, towards a healthy relationship and towards a real positive change in their relationship.
And by the way, wooohh, this whole transition is amazing!
Outro:
“Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Who are you in the dark?
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Who are you in the dark?
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Who are you in the dark?
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Who are you in the dark?”
And that's all, dear Anon. I hope you liked my interpretation 🙃
P.S. When Sinu said “Number nine is my shit!” during that live, I felt that. Mama Sinu was right. Even after all this time, this song is still the shit 😎
🤸🏻‍♀‍🤸🏻‍♀‍🤸🏻‍♀‍
Aaand I'm done 👩🏻‍💻 I hope I was helpful in this case too 😄 Thank you all for your asks and as usual, know that I'm available for those who have questions, so feel free to ask 😊
Before I go, I wanted to apologize for this huge delay. In addition to my job, it was due to the fact that I'm in the middle of a relocation. For about two months for 21 years, I always go to a place by the sea for the summer. I'll be there from today and I'll be back in September. Unfortunately there isn't much connection there, but there's a single wi-fi. I don't know if I'll continue to answer the asks all together with a post or individually. I'll see how to organize myself once I'm there. I apologize in advance if I'll take longer than usual to reply, but at least you know that it's because there's not much connection there (and you have to keep in mind that I’ll continue working normally because I’m not on holiday yet). Everything will be back to normal in September.
That being said, always remember to be kind, to others and to yourselves. Be a good example. Be patient. Be safe and take care of yourselves. Don't let our ship sink. Keep shipping them, but please respectfully 🙏🏼 Sending you virtual love and hugs 🤗🤗🤗 I love you, babies. Always with love, F ❤️

Adopting a stray cat, his favorite songs...Ren reveals his TMI [Opening the door to a singer - 2]
[source - This is the second part of a two-part interview. Part 1.]
For singer and actor Ren, this year was an important “turning point.” Concluding activities with boy group NU'EST that he’s been with for all of ten years and coming to stand on his own. Ren is now standing at the start line, not as an idol group member of ten years, but as a solo artist. It wasn’t easy to leave the stability of being in a team, but he chose to make a bold decision to take on a new challenge.
After finding a new nest to settle in, he’s now in the middle of working hard. Having been recognized as a musical actor through the musicals Jamie and Hedwig and meeting the audiences through Bungee Jumping Of Their Own after going solo, he’ll go onstage once again as D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers starting on the 16th. Alongside this, he’s also shown a unique side as a solo singer by appearing recently in KBS 2TV’s Listen Up and Music Bank.
Fans are what motivate the artist in Ren to move. He gives all the credit to his “Minracles,” coolly stating that without the fans, he wouldn’t be able to do anything. He also showed his desire to actively promote in different fields as a singer, actor, entertainer, etc. Additionally, he strengthened his resolve to become an artist who influences the public, in his own unique way.
Recently, we met with Ren at the Big Planet Made company building and shot him some questions.

Q1: We heard that you have some tattoos. How many do you have and what does each one mean?
I have five tattoos now. Two are big, three are small. When NU'EST had our first full album, I got one in henna from the company's suggestion. I thought it looks quite stylish and it suited me well, so I started thinking that I wanted a tattoo. Then I gained a positive influence from doing Jamie. I wanted to enjoy my life so I ended up getting my first tattoo. Though actually now I'm thinking of getting my tattoos removed. There are some people who don't like it, and it's something I have to consider when I try acting later on.
Q2: You recently adopted a stray cat.
I met the cat when I went to my family's house. I usually have to go through a basement parking lot to go home but that day I went home via the ground level. There was someone there who was petting a stray cat while feeding it. I know cats don't usually like people touching them so I thought it was an interesting sight and it caught my eye. My parents said that the cat was getting a lot of affection from the neighborhood. About two or three months after that, I came home and the cat was there again. I heard there was going to be a typhoon the next day and I got worried about it. I was lying in bed about to sleep but I kept thinking about it so I ended up going out to look for it. I think I looked for it for four hours. Later I found it calmly sleeping on a patch of grass. (laughs) That's when I thought "She should come with me," and I immediately went to the animal hospital and got her checked. Thankfully, other than an eye inflammation, she was pretty healthy. These days, she doesn't really listen to what I say, but we're getting along well together.

Q3: Your fandom name "Minracle" is so cute. How did you come up with it?
Minracle (t/n: mingijeok; gijeok 기적 is 'miracle' in Korean) means I want to make miracles with the fans. I worried about it a lot while I was thinking of it. (smiles) At first I wanted to try YouTube so I came up with "Minracle" while thinking of a channel name. While that was happening, people were asking me to decide on a fandom name, so I thought "MInracle" is really good so let's go with this. So that's who I decided on it. I still have plans to do YouTube later on. I want to do fun content that doesn't miss out on trends so I'm thinking about it a lot.
Q4: You've worn some unconventional costumes in different contents before, like a cavity, Edward Scissorhands, and an avocado, that became quite a hot topic. Is there an item that you'd still like to try?
Actually, there really was a good reaction when I came out in costume on Amazing Saturday. I worked so hard on my costume that my actual face couldn't even be recognized so it was kind of a shame. (laughs) I want to try being Groot some time...I don't know if it's possible. (laughs)
Q5: What's a song you enjoy listening to lately?
I'm not the type to listen to one song over and over but lately there's one song that's stuck - Lee Hyori-sunbaenim and AKMU's Lee Chanhyuk's collaboration "Free Smile." The lyrics are so touching.
Q6: What's your favorite out of all the songs you've released so far?
NU'EST W's "If you." When that song came out, there were a lot of feelings I couldn't describe. Even now when I hear that song, I can feel the emotions from that time and it's like I'm dreaming. It's really meaningful and I think it's a masterpiece.
Tumblr media
Q7: Is there another celebrity that you're close with?
While I was doing Bungee Jumping Of Their Own, I got close with Lee Changyoung-hyung, Jo Seongyoon-hyung, and VIXX Leo-hyung. We meet up sometimes. And this time while getting ready for The Three Musketeers, I'm getting to know DKZ's Kyoungyoon and Mingyu. They're both really nice. They have an FM-like personality* and they have good manners. They follow really well and we've gotten quite close.
(*t/n: I had to look this up, but FM is slang for "field manual" like in the military. So it just means they're good at following the rules. cmiiw!)
Q8: Is there a musical you'd like to try in the future?
I definitely want to try a show that leaves a strong impression like The Man Who Laughs or Sweeney Todd. Actually, when it comes to musicals, anything is fun and the energy onstage is so big, any production would be good.
Q9: We heard your favorite food is samgyetang.
I really like chicken. When I don't have to diet or maintain my body, I eat one chicken a day. I really got into samgyetang while I was doing Jamie. It got tired from the summer heat so I tried samgyetang while I was looking for healthy food to eat and it was so good. It's high in calories so I'm trying to control myself, but it really is my favorite. I love chicken so I often order red wings or spicy mayo.
Q10: When do you feel happiest?
I'm happiest when I'm on stage. Also when I talk with my fans, when I go on trips with my family, when I eat something delicious, I feel a simple happiness.

In my opinion, I think one of the main reasons why Andy refrains from going on his socials as often is because with all of these theories being said about Sumerian, Juliet/Lilith, her family, Scientology, Ash, Juliet’s sketchy connections on how she became so “successful” with her new album, and NTIO; if he comments on anything, he’d be doomed. His career, his family, his life, etc. He stays silent not because he “doesn’t know what to do with social media” like he’s stated before in interviews, (which wouldn’t make much sense because he used to be super active with fans in the MySpace days, I don’t get how today’s social media is too different) he is either choosing to back off or he is being told to do so from his team because from not reposting anything from NTIO when his line is promoted, anything that involves tagging Ash or Sumerian Records, anything that involves promoting Lilith Czar and her music, posting anything about American Satan or the show Paradise City about possibly having a 2nd season; would be like putting his own hand in the fire. The truth is coming out faster than expected, and if he says something too soon, with him being caught in the middle of this mess, he’s risking a lot. It’s heartbreaking, actually. Why would such a smart, hard headed person such as Andy end up so stuck in such a toxic situation with a toxic woman, with a toxic family, and marry into a more toxic environment?
yeah i never understood him saying he "didn't know what to do with social media" bc i'm sure a lot of fans would love it if he continued to do the vlogs he used to do. not the ones he's done in recent years just doing a q&a or whatever, i mean where it seemed like he just sat in front of his computer and talked about whatever came to mind. i liked those. he could even put them in instagram if he wanted considering they have those reels/igtv things now. but i do agree he's staying silent due to recent conversation. i'm sure he doesn't want any part of it.
