Random older! Hiro headcanons

Keep in mind that this is my interpretation of 18 y/o hiro! Pls bare in mind that its been ages since ive watched the series and as a trauma survivor i like incorporating my angst lol

Feel free to comment/request or reblog for more! Feedback is really important to me :)

TW: mentions of grief/death, loss of a family member and common mental health triggers

- appearance wise, i think Hiro would grow be 5'7-5'9 at the most, purely because i also hc Tadashi and their parents as pretty average height folks.

- he wouldnt have any facial hair except for the occasional mini mustache, purely because he thinks he doesnt looks good with facial hair.

- i also think he would go through phases of wanting to keep his hair shaggy and long and also wanting to cut it so its out of his eyes. I think as Hiro grows older he becomes a lot more aware of how he looks and eventually changes up his style to appear more presentable.

- emo ass hiro check❗❗i know his ass had a die hard MCR and Panic phase so i wouldnt put it past him to want snake bites or get his ears done. By the time hes 18 he'll have had small stretchers in his ears as well as industrial piercings on his left ear. Aunt Cas went with him to get the latter done.

- definitely paints his nails, though they're always chipped because he doesnt own a top coat and fiddles with his nails when hes nervous (which he is often)

- i also believe Hiro will dress a little like Tadashi, only because he was his only male role model for a while (hiro's pretty disillusioned amd doesnt fall for celeb influence that easily) but also because it makes him feel closer to his brother after his death.

- that means skinny jeans, vans and button-ups/t shirts onna daily basis but i hc that Hiro also indulges in more skater/indie/grunge aesthetics on a day out or when he feels particularly handsome.

- try picture hiro dressed as (phase 1/2) 2D from gorillaz lol, kinda like that! Wide cut jeans, scribbled-on vans and juvenile slogan shirts.

- Hiro definitely likes darker aesthetics. At home he often wears black, thinking he looks badass but really just looks emo lol

- moving on from appearances, Hiro loves indie music!

- lemon demon, girl in red, Mitski, Ricky Montgomery etc, though he still listens to bands like MCR, Oasis and Tally Hall.

- definitely has a secret love for nu metal. Idk i just see it in him. I can imagine him headbanging to slipknot on the shower lmaoo

- he has a secret playlist he listens to when the loss of his family is ripe in his mind. Its more ambient and sadder artists like flower face, nicole dollanganger and mother mother

- speaking of grief, tadashis death was a catalyst for hiro's now diagnosed depression. He takes a small dosage of anti depressants that help him with his productivity when hes particularly low.

- 18 year old hiro definitely has a sizable following on his socials, nothing in the 1000s but his Instagram has a good 900 followers.

- posts alot abt his friends and his projects and has recently learned how to take those really aesthetic looking blurry photos when he goes on walks or skates (yes my hiro is a skater boy)

- really embarrassed abt the fact he has a tik tok. His fyp is extremely funny but hella cursed. 100% on queer frog tiktok and thinks its straight tiktok lol

- OH YEA SPEAKING OF THE ALPHABET MAFIA,,,, yea hes bi 🤗🤗 its canon bro trust me

- HAS A FLAG ON HIS DESK!! Baymax embarrassed the FUCK outta him when he saw it (gave a whole speech abt acceptance and errything lord 😩)

- went to his first pride parade when he was 17 and a half, really enjoyed it but doesnt like going alone. It sucks bc he has a lot of internalized biphobia to get through before he can be trully out to himself.

- So far only Wasabi, aunt Cas and GoGo (because theyre all bi too lol) know. They bought hiro all his pride stuff ( to be exact he has a woven bi bracelet, a desk flag and some laces for his vans)

- also i think hiro alternates between they/them and he/him pronouns because he likes the sound of them, though he does identify with his bio sex (maybe gender diverse? Isogender? Idk maybe!)

Who cries at movies:

I think it depends on the movie. Paul doesn't watch movies from a normal point of view, he's more attentive to things like composition, sound effects, the music chosen for scenes etc. He cries if film making techniques are done right because "GOD DAMMIT YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARDS WELL DONE THAT WAS ART THAT WAS PURE ART" (not saying this is based on my own ways of viewing animation or anything <_<)

Doug on the other hand well...if it's a film about a dog he's probably gonna cry at some point. Even if nothing happens to the dog. He's just gonna cry because there's a dog.

Who gives unprompted massages:

Paul got into this habit because he has zero sense of personal space. He's damn good at them though, and usually his timing is on point since Doug probably works out a fair bit in his spare time.

Who fusses over the other when they're sick:

Absolutely Paul. Gonna indulge in my headcanons here for a moment and say that when Doug had his surgeries Paul had him living with him after each one. And he fussed over him like a demon. He literally took what Ernie said ("you can do x thing after x amount of time"), wrote it down and stuck it up on the wall. He was also on top of everything he needed and he was fully prepared to do store runs at 3.00 am. And this all applies to regular sickness too.

Who gets jealous easiest:

Interestingly enough, Doug does. Given how Paul is kind of a big shot he does tend to get a bit of attention when they're out in the city together, and while Doug's not like, angry possessive levels of jealous, he can get irritated if someone tries coming on to Paul. He knows Paul wouldn't reciprocate any of that nonsense but it still bugs him.

Who has the most embarrassing taste in music:

Honestly catch them both wailing along to Linkin Park and other kinds of early 2000s emo bops (or the 70s equivalent to early 2000s emo bops) with absolutely no shame whatsoever.

Who collects something unusual:

Do we....do we count Paul's films? If so...y'know. But if not then Paul also likes to collect dumb knick knacks. The stupider the better. And he gives half of his findings to Doug and it's an in-joke between them. I'm willing to bet Doug has a few stupid statues on his desk and when questioned about them he's just "it's avant guarde you wouldn't get it".

Who takes the longest to get ready:

Paul is up again on this one. That man is so god damn fussy about his appearance that going out to dinner is an absolute nightmare with him. His hair needs to be perfect, he takes ages in the shower, he spends AT LEAST 40 minutes going through his wardrobe for the right outfit.

Doug isn't all that fussy but that comes back to bite him since Paul will end up spending even more time trying to fix HIM up.

Who is the most tidy and organised:

Doug is in fact. Granted it's not in the most conventional way, but he is a soldier and being organised seems to be a part of that. Plus he's probably got his staff keeping the base clean on a day to day basis so like.

Who gets most excited about the holidays:

Again this depends on the holiday. Doug gets excited about christmas and easter mainly. Paul gets more excited about halloween and st patrick's day (okay quick extra headcanon, paul's bio parents were irish immigrants so he actually uses st patrick's day as a heritage celebration thing. his name can be fully translated into irish so im running with this).

Who is the big spoon/ little spoon:

Doug: I'm a knife.

Paul, from across the room: He's a little spoon.

In all seriousness they both like to cuddle and be cuddled so it's kinda even between them.

Who gets the most competitive when playing games and/ or sports:

Doug, a million times Doug. Whenever Doug suggests a board game Paul has to go through the five stages of grief all at once before agreeing to play. He gets vicious and will flip tables a lot.

Who starts the most arguments:

Paul does. He's got a hot temper and can blow up over dumb stuff so he tends to start arguments on the occasion.

Who suggests that they buy a pet:

They already have like, a load of dogs. But Paul was the one who suggested they adopt a wild, starving, nearly dead teenager though.

What couple traditions do they have:

When they were kids in the orphanage they used to sneak out at night and stargaze. They'd often point out clumps of stars that looked like stuff (like cloud watching). As adults they still do this all the time. It's one of their favourite things to do.

What TV shows do they watch together:

Together they enjoy watching really dumb game shows. They place bets with each other on what teams will win etc and they get way too into it. It drives the others at the scrapyards mad.

What other couple do they hang out with:

Oh you best BELIEVE they go on double dates with Sylvia and Ernest. They absolutely do, no doubt about it. This is 100% canon and I'll fist fight anyone who tells me other wise!

How do they spend time together as a couple:

They like going for walks in the forest, chilling on the couch watching TV, chilling at the fights, going out on the town. They mainly just enjoy each others company so they'll do almost anything together.

Who made the first move:

Paul did! But he was an absolute mess about it. It got to the point where Doug had to just grab him like "DUDE! I love you too!"

Who brings flowers home:

Paul does, mainly because flowers are such a cheesy gesture and they turn Doug into a blushing mess when he gives them to him and Paul lives for it.

Who is the best cook:

Neither of them hah. Doug has Pernilla cooking everything for him and Paul lives off of ramen noodles and take away food like the mess he is. I like to think that Doug tried to cook something nice for Paul once but ended up setting the kitchen on fire.

yes, yes i do! i really love seyren so i can spend hours and hours talking about him! (besides, i dumped way too many on my best friend, so, it’s time to finally let them shine)

just a small thing but i believe that my own vision of seyren perhaps differs a little to what the fandom usually agrees upon? and maybe it’s a little emo + only tidbits of canon info here and there, but, i hope you enjoy neverthless!

onwards on the post.

to sum up my own interpretation of seyren, it’d be something like ‘upset outside, VERY depressed inside’ and i believe this where i differ from many - sure he does have a temper (if going by his in-game illust, at least, the first) but for some reason he gives me this vibe of being rather miserable? hm, this is making no sense, let me sum it up quickly

to me, seyren puts on a tough face since he technically has the ‘title’ of leader of the third floor (my main basis is because he has a sword, because, WELL, don’t heroes always prefer swords? lol) but with all the crap and pressure in a situation as hopeless as theirs, such stuff would take a toll on anyone, no matter how tough. the position of leader isn’t something easy, and if he breaks down - or so he thinks - what will happen? what will happen to his companions?

seyren is like the hero of the floor - mostly going by how, out of the entire biolabs, he’s right now the only one who gets a dialogue image and stuff - but since i’m mean, i love to twist it for all its tragedy worth; think of him as being sorta of an older character but also as a deconstruction of “hot-blooded hero with a heart of gold underneath who puts up with a lot of crap”, then add severe depression on the mix:

he’s very headstrong. if he has an idea on mind, he will lock on it. also, a point i make here that in my own take of seyren, he’s ironically the most emotional and hot-blooded out of the bio3 guys - howard reads more like a level-headed pillar of support, eremes can keep a cool head due to the nature of his job - seyren? seyren’s pride can be hurt easily, despite the fact he oh so not wants to appear as that.

going by that point, seyren is more temperamental than howard and eremes. the latter points it out all the time as his main flaw - and probably his fatal flaw, if you like to go a step further. it angers him a lot, but in a begrundgily way, admits that he is right.

seyren also has problems with personal bonds, and catches up with jokes somewhat slower than others. he doesn’t really have bad intentions - rather, he means the best - it’s just that… he’s awkward in the worst sense possible.

however, if you managed to break through the layers of self-loathing and self-imposed pressure, he isn’t a bad guy. sure, he needs to work on his temper, but he really really tries to do the right thing and genuinely fears that he isn’t strong enough. maybe he’s just a very troubled man.

the next headcanon implies seyren has a very poor image of himself, and probably never had many close friends growing up. he’s sorta afraid of strong bonds, as he really doesn’t like showing his vulnerable side more. he feels more at ease with animals - peco pecos and cats, mainly - to everyone’s surprise.

once he finally starts a bit more comfortable with the others, though, he shows other facets of his personality - who knows, maybe he can be quite the gentleman at times… or so he tries, and comes off as an adorable dork.

for his relationships, while i think he is rather close to howard - since howard reads like a nice guy and the kind of reliable friend - i like to think he’s also close to margaretha and kathryne - the latter who is, while honest and true to her beliefs, a good listener and rather calming. cecil and him, while not exactly close, eventually reach a common ground and respect/value each other despite everything, but eremes is… a special case.
