anyways. think tmc in a dnd type setting.

the basic plot is that mark’s a ranger that gets assigned to go find these two thieves that have been causing trouble. he gets cesar to help him find them and of course those two thieves are adam and jonah. before they’re about to get arrested they’re like hey man you look like you’re dealing with demons. we know how to expel them (they do not they are lying). mark IS in fact dealing with demons though (cursed from birth type thing there’s actually. quite a bit of lore to it) so he agrees. so mark cesar adam jonah and sarah are just kind of going on this quest thing that adam and jonah KNOW is going to end in mark finding out the truth so they’re trying to postpone it as long as possible

meanwhile we’ve got mcp3 and they’re all like. defenders of their kingdom or whatever. anyways thatcher goes out to explore something and ends up getting cursed. lmao. lol even. he’s kind of killing villagers now but doesn’t admit to it because he’s too scared to. ruth and dave know something’s up. also they’re all trying to track down this one rogue ranger and the thieves he’s taking with him (sound familiar.) and they’re having evelin help them she’s in here too

also there’s a thing with the alternates being some sort of. malicious demon gathering thing that latches onto people. mark adam and thatcher all have something to do with this. wonder what that means

4:HANDS!! at first i was afraid of them, and sometimes they are still intimidating, but soooo many weird shapes for light to bounce off of, which is fun to play around with! i also like drawing eyes (+the skin around them) and teeth :)

i. know VERY little about medieval europe unfortunately so its mostly just inspired by medieval art rather than ACTUAL medieval europe. ngl i just wanted to draw mark as a knight LMAO might render this later tho bc rendering metal is fun

collection of some tmc-related dreams i've had just bc i'm not sure i posted abt most of them:

#1: a dream where crewdela were filming more live action stuff for vol. 5, but for some reason andrew long was just comically tall. and no one seemed to notice how freakishly tall he was except for ty, who just kept getting progressively more and more freaked out the longer they went on filming without acknowledging it everyone else kept being like 'ty? are you okay dude? you need to sit down or something' and ty wa sjust like dO YUONOT SEE???!!?!?! and andrew just kept getting taller until i woke up #2: dream where mark and cesar were like. in a fantasy au? but specifically a fate: the cursed king-esque dungeon crawler, and they were making their way through a dungoen maze level. mark had ice magic and cesar had fire magic they killed a giant snake beast with their inexplicable magic powers which caused a portal to spawn and when they went through it they ended up in a place that looks suspiciously like the lobby of my apartment building but with more plants, and apparently they lived there but then i woke up #3: dream numero tres i was watching a youtube video on a site that kinda Looks like dark mode youtube but still clearly isn't in a way that i legitimately cannot describe . eldritch ass not-youtube. anyway it was a video mr. kister made for tmc. it was in black & white and was showing a bunch of like. statues and stuff in what vaguely looked like a severely overgrown garden and someone in the dream universe found out where the video was filmed and released the location in the form of a weird arg puzzle . and then suddenly jonah is driving an 18-wheeler to go find it, despite my headcanon that he fucking Cannot Drive. bc jonah's smart and they figured out the puzzle :] but also the implications of . tmc as a series existing in the tmc world ????? wild. anyway jonah gets to the like. statue garden and was just wandering around looking at all the statues n stuff that were in alex's video but then there's an alternate that i can't remember what it looked like . so jonah gets back in the truck and starts driving away, and i tihnk this is the part where my unconscious mind remembered my headcanons about jonah's driving ability bc suddenly their driving is really shit and while jonah is still driving and the alt is still chasing him jonah just ?? inexplicably starts growing dragon features. like scales n shit?? and they're in the middle of this like weird fuckin . non-euclidian maze ass highway tunnel system when suddenly the dotp rolls up and detains both jonah and the alternate

but it's not all bad bc the dotp jail or whatever the fuck looks suspiciously like a fancy cushy hotel room and jonah's like :( Man. but at least they're comfy and the alternate is also just in the same roo m and bc they have both been Hotel Jailed jonah and the alt are now friends? despite the alt trying to murder him like 20 minutes ago then adam shows up and fuckin like. from the outside of the building just removes the window? somehow? like bro just picks it up like a minecraft enderman and takes it out of the wall. and then i woke up

#4: in this dream i was stuck in a game that was apparently supposed to be VR? with a bunch of other people as well. and we were all in a like. big school gym essentially and one of the walls had doors to other rooms and a tent. and all the rooms + the tent were like. sports themed and one was like a big locker room. & me and all the other mfs there were in various sports uniforms. i was in a baseball uniform & had a bat in the gym with us was a like. slow-moving alien slug beast that would kill you if it touched you and that's apparently the game we were supposed to be playing . i spent most of the dream hiding in the tent with 2 other people. the tent was soccer-themed and had that green plastic turf shit on the floor but in the middle was just a fuckin like . 2ft x 2ft x2ft metal pyramid. and after a while me and the other 2 guys started getting nervous bc the tent flap was like. kinda flimsy and wasn't rly staying up super well. and at some point cesar came by and started trying to fix the tent flap for us bc he's a polite young man but despite his efforts the fuckin slug showed up anyway and we all had to skedaddle. so we went through a door in the side of the tent which for some reaosn was just a normal ass door? like the wall was still flimsy tent material but the door was still attached somehow and that door led to the big locker room. i don't know where the others went but dream me's first instinct was to get off the ground and climb on top of the lockers so i could see clearly if the slug was coming after me, which it was so i leaned over the side of the lockers started poking the slug with the bat. and it started like. ungulating and vibrating and making weird noises so i wa slike ok it's time to fucking leave. climbed down off the lockers and ran back out into the main gym area, n as i'm leaving the locker room i hear a fuckin like. tiger roar. and then i woke up, so i guess i'll never know what was up with that slug but i think dream me pissed it off and inadvertently doomed everyone there #5: i was a pokemon trainer but also jonah? and i was challenging a like. little pseudo-gym/dojo thing being run out of a small school locker room with TVs all over the walls. there were four ladies lined up on the walls and one standing at the end of the room and they were all wearing kimonos.

and as i/jonah go thru and pokemon battle them they kept saying shit abt like. how the prize for beating them all is a 'tv tag'. whatever that is. and one of them said smth like 'give your flareon a tv tag and it'll evolve' which ????????? idk what that meaNS . forbidden flareon evo i got through the first four battles and like. you know how in pokemon some npcs get all pissy at you for beating them? the fifth lady was basically being like that even tho i hadn't fought her yet. and the tv behind her turned on and started displaying static and a like. pink blob started emerging from it and immediately dream me/jonah knew. i had been bamboozled. THIS is tv tag. which in the dream made perfect sense to me somehow like what else could a giant pink blob emerging from a tv be . duh.

so i ran and ducked into a classroom and quickly explained the situation to the teacher and was just hiding out of view of the window in the door like how you do in active shooter drills hashtag america. but eventually i had to go bc tv tag is High Stakes apparently. as in if the blob catches me it will kill me, and this is just something i just knew Instinctually so i ducked out of the room and to the stairs so i would get up on the school's roof, and it's apparently not a very big school building because the roof is level with the roofs of the surrounding houses. so dream me/jonah started doing high stakes parkour across the roofs to make some distance away from the school before the giant blob could notice i was no longer in the building i somehow got down off the rooftops (i don't actually remember how? i'm just going to assume i fuckin tumbled off) and run into a nearby forest, where i start fuckin galloping down the dirt path on all fours like a majestic creature. it was actually a really cool feeling despite the horrifying circumstances like it was really fun eventually i/jonah come up on a house in the woods and decided to ask if i could hide out there bc i was tired and apparently gordon ramsay lives there. so i tried explaining the situation to him and, like any sane person, he asked if i was high on drugs. but then he spotted the pink blob emerging from around a bend in the dirt road and was like oh fuck. get inside Now so i crammed myself into a closet in the upstairs bedroom and mr ramsay started stacking the surplus of backpacks he just had for some reason in front of me to hide me from view. and i don't remember how but suddenly i'm in a shed? and the wooden doors of the shed started slowly opening and dream me/jonah was like. shaking and crying. and for some reason the giant pink blob had turned into shmorp's alt mark and he was just levitating there in the open door. but he also apparently came to his senses and started acting all apologetic then he started levitating me off the ground and we were both just floating around outside while he started telling me abt how his powers came from the moon? for some reason. then i was suddenly on a planet from spore and was holding a big tupperware container, and my only objective was to wander the surface of the planet and find weapons that wer eon the floor and put them in the tupperware. and then i woke up

Hey there! Can we hear more about your Almost Calamity Vaati AU? I'm intrigued by the design and need to hear more.

hey back! first of all, smashy!! you’re way too sweet, thank you so much!

but, absolutely! so actually, this AU existed a little while before BOTW released, and before we knew a whole lot about the mechanics behind calamity ganon and “malice”. initially i just wanted to write a vaati-centric fic that was heavily inspired by games like bloodborne and SOMA, so you can imagine how happy i was when a mechanic similar to the old blood/WAU was introduced to zelda canon, haha.

i’ll bullet everything so that it doesn’t get stupid long;

AU assumes that vaati is the first incarnation of demise and that his nature corrupts the light force that he managed to snatch away from zelda back in TMC. i also headcanon that the light force functions a little bit differently from the triforce, in that it’s meant to be a kind of “life support” system—designed to protect hylia’s descendants, because the minish are faithful little dudes. so basically, you’ve got a source of magic that’s constantly generating radiant energy that becomes instantaneously corrupted because of the nature of its host, but that’s also hardwired to keep whoever it’s inside in one piece. this is how i figure vaati’s stayed as “together” as he has despite thousands of years of solitary imprisonment and torture that’d ordinarily kill someone in a matter of weeks. the light force keeps him alive and tries really hard to not let him completely fall apart; but who he is has him brimming with malice and a stone’s throw away from where we see ganon at the end of BOTW.

the AU also assumes that vaati followed a different path than he does in canon. i’ve almost always written to my own AU version of a downfall timeline vaati, where instead of FSA happening, vaati is unsealed post-FS by ganondorf to participate in the unification war immediately before OOT. he’s sealed right after the war ends, and unsealed thoooousands of years later than he would’ve been in canon, probably just before or after BOTW takes place (if we assume that BOTW is at the end of the downfall timeline, ha)

the release of BOTW and some of the theories behind calamity ganon were the kind of Straw That Broke The Camel’s Back in that, when i was first futzing around with this AU, it was originally for a fic where vaati was treated as some kind of SCP creature; originally dug up in the sword by some kind of mining company and then transferred to and imprisoned in a lab where all kinds of freaky things happened. once BOTW came out, i ditched the modern fantasy concept and settled on the yiga finding the sword instead, and doing p much what they (supposedly?) did to ganondorf; or at least starting to before vaati was able to make a break for it.

this AU also gives vaati his own “blights,” because the idea of vaati having freaky powerful body horror clones is kind of funnyronic considering his relationship with clones on the heroes’ end.

tldr: vaati is an incarnation of demise. instead of FSA happening, vaati fights with ganondorf during the hyrulean civil war, is sealed after the war ends and unsealed thousands of years later by the yiga in the downfall timeline, either immediately pre- or post-BOTW. the yiga experiment with vaati’s essense in the four sword, making funky blight-clones out of his soul in their attempt to extract and harness the raw, ancient magic that vaati is chock full of. vaati escapes the sword during one of their extractions and, due to yiga fiddling and also sitting in his own corruption inside of the sword for so many thousands of years, is a gross, mildewy, sick dude who’s frothing with malice and just a couple steps away from losing the last of his humanity and going Big Feral. the light force is keeping him together like bubblegum holding the joints of a toothpick mannequin.

'Why Sudan is shooting medics' The plan is more than likely a fiction, not designed to produce civilian rule or anything like it There is ample precedent in Africa and elsewhere these days for elections which go through the motions of democracy but deliver none of its substance Don't be surprised to see senior figures from the TMC "retiring" from the military and standing as civilian candidates What will not change is military control of Sudanese life In part the FFC and its civil society allies are victims of their own dizzying success in the early days of the revolution Within 24 hours they toppled President Omar al-Bashir and the military man who led the coup against him Thirty years of rule appeared to have been vanquished The sight of the sit-in drew activists from all spheres of Sudanese life. It became a citadel of freedom The atmosphere was intoxicating People debated and sang and produced art. Image copyright Getty Images They produced manifestos on women's rights, media freedom, justice and the economy, and much more besides. Yet diversity was also a vulnerability Everybody agreed that civilian rule was the essential demand But there were inevitable differences over the specifics of achieving that aim: what should the timeframe be, what would be the balance between military and civilian representatives, which personalities representing which groupings would take positions in any transitional arrangements? None of these debates were in themselves fatal to the cause But they highlighted the difficulties of being a "people's movement" compared to an established political party with the structures and internal discipline to make swift changes at the negotiating table Hard line take control There was another problem As the shockwaves of Mr Bashir's overthrow dissipated the old politics of Sudan re-emerged Parties and personalities who had been suppressed under dictatorship were determined not to be left out if political power was being shared This allowed the military to characterise the protesters as simply one of the groups who were part of the negotiations, ignoring the fact that there would have been no negotiations without the demonstrations Road to transition 19 December 2018 - Protests erupt after fuel and bread price rises announced 22 February 2019 - President Bashir dissolves the government 24 February - Protests continue as security forces respond by firing live bullets 6 April - Activists begin sit-in at military headquarters, vowing not to move until Mr Bashir steps down 11 April - Army generals announce that Mr Bashir has been toppled but sit-in continues as people demand civilian rule 20 April - Talks between the military rulers and civilian representatives begin 13 May - Shooting outside the military headquarters leaves six people dead 14 May - Military and civilians announce a deal on a three-year transition period 16 May - Talks postponed as military demands some barricades are removed 3 June - Activists announce the suspension of talks with the military, accusing them of using force to disperse their sit-in Delaying or dissembling in the name of inclusivity became a tactic Once the military had recovered from the confusion around Mr Bashir's overthrow it regrouped and the most hard line elements took control. This explains the pre-eminence of the RSF commander, Mohammed "Hemedti" Hamadan whose personal ruthlessness in Darfur always made him the most likely leader of a counter-revolution. Unlike many of the military elite "Hemedti" is an outsider From a rural background he has no family ties or sentimental affiliation with the young middle class protesting on the streets of the Khartoum. Divided world The military also enjoys another big advantage This is an age of international division. The notion of an "international community" which might pressure the regime is a fantasy The world is now governed by a collection of interests - occasionally they are complimentary, more often they are in competition The UN Security Council is not a forum where any kind of concerted action on Sudan might be approved Russia and China would block any move to increase sanctions on Khartoum The condemnation from US National Security Advisor, John Bolton - he called the Khartoum violence "abhorrent" - will only mean something if the US demands that its regional allies - Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates - exert pressure on the Sudanese military For now it is hard to imagine President Donald Trump picking up the phone to Cairo or Riyadh and insisting on a swift transition to civilian rule Mr Trump has other priorities like the Mexican border, Venezuela, Iran and the trade war with China Image copyright ASHRAF SHAZLY Image caption Sudanese forces tried to disperse the sit-in on Monday What about an African solution? The African Union (AU) was an early supporter of civilian rule after the fall of Mr Bashir but the AU's actions around the election results in the Democratic Republic of Congo in January are cautionary: the AU first criticised what many observers saw as a fix but then rowed back In recent weeks the African body has spoken of the need for international actors not to meddle in Sudanese affairs Bear in mind too that the AU's current chairperson is Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi who is himself a symbol of military usurpation of power The Sudan crisis exposes the dominant reality of the international scene Force can have its way without consequence if the killers and torturers represent a valuable enough asset to other stronger powers - in strategic, ideological, intelligence or economic terms. It is possible that President Trump will make a stand on Sudan and pressure his allies to act, that the AU will threaten to expel and isolate Sudan, that more moderate elements in the military will emerge and challenge "Hemedti" and his supporters Possible But certainly not probable I remember speaking with a leading activist at the demonstrations back in April. He told me that "the sit-in is the only card we have That is why we have to maintain it" Image copyright Getty Images Image caption Sudanese people had been protesting for many weeks by this point in May, well after Mr Bashir had been forced out of office But now that the sit-in is smashed where does the opposition go? The peaceful revolutionaries are beaten and traumatised It is impossible to say now whether the Forces of Freedom and Change can come back as a street-driven force There have been calls for civil disobedience and strikes Any such will likely be met with ruthless violence What will not change, in fact what has been deepened, is the alienation of people from their rulers Image copyright Getty Images Image caption Demonstrators were still protesting peacefully at the beginning of May at a sit-in outside the army's headquarters Repression may work as a strategy for now but not indefinitely Sudan is now dependant on powerful neighbours for its economic survival and beset by internal divisions Dependency on the Egyptians and Saudis will rankle with many Sudanese beyond the protesters, adding a more overtly nationalist dimension to the current crisis The generals have succeeded in smashing the protest but their troubles may only be starting Related Topics Read the full article
