so huh. after watching all these youtubers (you know, people who do know how youtube works and how much money you can get off youtube and patreon and sponsorships etc) analyze watcher's numbers and statistics and all... can we finally say it's all for capitalism's sake? thanks.

Grave mistake of telling my mother about the little prize I got at the human rights cafè so now it's all "you have the rethorical skills... you just need to figure out what to study in life.... someone with your talent.." someone with my talent, mother dearest, will spend their life in a dingy old dark and dusty archive putting documents in place. Okay. Why would I go into politics when there are all these archives I could be manager of

This onscreen Google slide had to do with a “semantic matching” overhaul to its SERP algorithm. When you enter a query, you might expect a search engine to incorporate synonyms into the algorithm as well as text phrase pairings in natural language processing. But this overhaul went further, actually altering queries to generate more commercial results. There have long been suspicions that the search giant manipulates ad prices, and now it’s clear that Google treats consumers with the same disdain. The “10 blue links,” or organic results, which Google has always claimed to be sacrosanct, are just another vector for Google greediness, camouflaged in the company’s kindergarten colors. Google likely alters queries billions of times a day in trillions of different variations. Here’s how it works. Say you search for “children’s clothing.” Google converts it, without your knowledge, to a search for “NIKOLAI-brand kidswear,” making a behind-the-scenes substitution of your actual query with a different query that just happens to generate more money for the company, and will generate results you weren’t searching for at all. It’s not possible for you to opt out of the substitution. If you don’t get the results you want, and you try to refine your query, you are wasting your time. This is a twisted shopping mall you can’t escape.

Undercover Boss AU where Lena goes undercover with an actual disguise when the company is still L-Corp, and she braces herself for the worst because the producers are warning her about the nasty things they've uncovered during previous episodes.
But when she goes in as a research assistant or factory plant worker, all she hears is good things. Both macro and micro. Everyone is proud to be working for L-Corp, they know they're compensated well, and the company culture is happy and healthy.
And then there's the people who reveal that they know she's the one who paid off their mother's medical bills after she was diagnosed with cancer. The person who found their bereavement leave paid for and then some when their husband or child died. The people who appreciate that she greets them by name, despite having no reason to know them offhand. There's the women who relate how Lena makes a point to give them room to talk in a panel full of men.
Just all these good things, and initially the show is like, we can't use any of this, it's not scandalous enough. Until someone (Kara??) points out how in a world full of awful people, surely knowing that there's a good person in charge of a company that touches so much of daily life across the country is newsworthy.
Which prompts the show to feature Lena's episode during sweeps, capitalizing on the fact that its so different from their usual content. Like, they promo clips of Lena all teary eyed suggesting that she's hearing awful things, but in reality it's her being all mushy when a young intern just effusively explains how it was Lena who prompted her to pursue not only science, but science that served a purpose to improve the lives of others.
And Kara couldn't be prouder.

We tried to have a Mr. Handy work the same job as one of our highly-trained managers, but it was mysteriously found in disrepair from a self-destruct sequence only 2 minutes after the start of its position. Guess some jobs are better for humans after all!

in a trigun office au Knives is the founder, owner, and ceo of a different company and is always trying to get Vash to work with him.
Vash, talking to Knives on speaker phone while he eats lunch: look we already ruined last thanksgiving over a discussion about business ethics if you wanna go another round I guess we can obliterate christmas too
Knives: As I've said before there's nothing unusual about my business practices--
Vash: because most major companies are corrupt and evil! The standard is not one you want to meet! While we're talking, stop sending people to recruit me.
Knives: I just want you to get an understanding of my company from an employee's point of view and see they are content with the way things are run.
Vash: whatever. Just stop sending Legato, at least. He gives me the vibe that he'll behead me and tell you that the instructions about headhunting were unclear
Knives: you're always so dramatic.
Vash: I think after your two attempts to frame me for embezzlement so I'd have no job options but signing onto your capitalist yacht that's being kept afloat by the supposedly expendable cubicle drones' frantic paddling--I think I'm allowed to be a little dramatic!
Knives: 'a little'?
Vash: don't judge me, mister, not after your freak out at thanksgiving
Knives: that was a perfectly reasonable reaction!
Vash: you made Milly cry over cranberry sauce!
Knives: it was from a can!
Vash: she cut the slices into stars and hearts! That's adorable, you heartless jerk! I should have let Meryl throw the gravy boat at you! I should have let Wolfwood drown you in the mashed potatoes!
Knives: some of us have standards, you nitwit!
Vash: I'd have to do the limbo to get down to the level of your standards!
*Vash's coworkers who can hear every word because Vash forgot to close the conference room door*

dont get me wrong i love that fukuzawa is all about personal freedom, including with his employees, but let us not kid ourselves that this personal freedom comes at the cost of tanizaki and kunikida's mental and physical wellbeing 👀
yosano and dazai (him to a lesser extent, but the way he treats kunikida is like ??? yo shachou...you're just gonna let that happen to your devoted employee? ok ok sure) are kinda seriously off-leash in the WORST way???
and like, YEAH it's funny as a reader but like......your employees deserve to not be harassed into panic attacks on company premises...and also possibly...PERHAPS...correct me if *I'M* being the asshole here...the option to NOT DIE without being brutally tortured...
like...maybe you should...step in...my guy...my dude...

Very High Standards for yourself. (?????????)’’#the new director I’ve been working with is so casual abt praise saying how I have beautiful lines and such a strong turn#and just need to relax and breathe#there have been a couple ppl recently reading thru like my entire AO3 and leaving the nicest comments???#my students are chaotic but at rehearsal they all want to come sit with me and ask me questions and I just#idk I know I have a tendency toward isolation and self-deprecation#but also like. when ur in it (the depressions (?)) it feels so absolute#and i know I have to go thru to get to a place where I can receive the good (emotionally)#and I know I’m a little extra sensitivo bc I‘ve been missing my brother#and specifically how he always always was the person who listened when I needed support#but yeah i. maybe rlly needed this#‘’over and over announcing your place in the family of things’’#<- current feels#personal#Bc it’s less about positive feedback and more abt feeling like belonging

Another question for Woody, let’s imagine this situation, he is faced with almost a classic nutcracker (let’s take Arthur for example) who will accidentally confuse you with one of his own, and will immediately try to shoot the employees with his good IZH-57
Preventive danger? DO NOT GET OFF THE SHIP! Woody would just try to keep everyone from even trying. Hed be (by now) well aware of the capabilities of other Nutcrackers, despite this he himself would approach, try to chat em up maybe get to an understanding.
Immediate danger? Well OOPS! looks like Woody has to fight (he fights to distract, he likely would die if drawn out lol but if he takes bullets then the people behind him won't sooooo) Arthur be sure to grip that gun, Woody goes for the gun, then the arms.

Passing out soon as it's 8am and I haven't slept at all but um... idk.
AU where Lily is a "retired" captain, not because of age, but because he's been let go. He was caught with another man, and some of his crew mutinied, threw him overboard and tried to make it look like an accident. Lily was dashed against the rocks, scarred his face up pretty badly, took one of his eyes. The men were charged, of course, but Lily couldn't go back. His reputation was ruined and now his eyesight wasn't good enough for the Navy.
So he takes charge of a lighthouse. It's offshore, but not by much. Just enough for a bridge to connect the little island to the mainland, though, the high tide drowns it every time it comes in. Lily is alone there, and lonely, but he's safe.
Anyway... yeah. Imagine someone being assigned there. Having to work with this man who is desperately trying to prove that this old lighthouse is worth keeping around. Someone who knows his livelihood is at stake if things don't go exactly as they have always gone. This rugged man who is so, so scared.
