Found this Scott and Em Harris 'discussion' on my hard drive.
Em Harris is an OC from Gentle Rain.
Language warning for this as she is not happy at all.
-o-o-o-
“I’m just trying to keep you from dying! Don’t you see that? I care about you and you are the last person I ever want to see dead out there, so just fucking listen to me for once!”
Scott blinked at the fire in her words. He would have taken a step back, but he was held by his seat in One, its safety harness and back preventing him from moving an inch away from the fury of his wife.
Em hovered in front of him, the white of her medical baldric glaring at him. It had stains. Some identifiable, some not so much. But all of which he wished he could have protected her from.
But he couldn’t.
Because she was who she was and there was no way he could hold her back from helping people any more than he could himself. If there was one thing they both shared, it was that.
Her determination was what made her so beautiful.
“Emaline-“
“No!” She held up a hand. “You don’t get to speak after a stupid stunt like that. All you had to do was wait for Virgil.”
“There wasn’t time!”
“Another thirty seconds, Scott! If Virgil hadn’t caught you, YOU WOULD BE DEAD!” Her pale blue eyes electrified with a mixture of fury and fear. “I almost lost you! For no reason!”
“A life was saved!”
“Virgil nearly missed the both of you! He has enough bruising from his leap off that cliff after you to inspire his next painting. Kay is going to kick your ass, flyboy.”
Scott swallowed. Kayo he could handle, but he hadn’t realised Virgil had been hurt. “Is Virgil okay?”
Em sighed and looked down a moment before looking him in the eye. “No. No, he is not. You owe him an apology.”
As if he was aware of his name being mentioned, Virgil’s calm voice issued over comes. “Thunderbird Two departing danger zone. Transporting injured to Capetown Medical and returning to base.”
The line cut out before Scott could reply. The lack of personal address or even his callsign was enough to illustrate exactly how much shit he was in with his brother.
“Scott, please.” And suddenly the anger in her voice was gone. “Why? Why is your life not worth as much to you as it is to me?”
She wasn’t crying, but there was so much grief in her voice, he had to reach out and pull her to him.
There was resistance at first. She was as stubborn as she was determined to the point of the words being synonyms.  But then, as light as she always was, he drew her into his arms, hoverscoot rising at an angle and their baldrics clattering as they met. Her head landed on his shoulder and he held her there, stroking the nape of her neck where her hair bun left it bare.
“I’m sorry.” It was an exhalation.
“Please don’t do that again.” It was muffled into his uniform.
“Em, you know I can’t guar-“
It was exactly the wrong thing to say. She flung herself backwards, pulling away. Practised reflexes let her go out of respect, but he grabbed at her again. No!
She didn’t let him reach her, her hoverjets humming almost as angrily as her expression.
“No, Scott Tracy, you can guarantee. You can tell me that you will wait. You can tell me that you will consider. You will tell me that you trust your brothers’ knowledge and experience. And you can tell me that I am important enough in your life for you to not give up that life in a situation that can be easily avoided.” She drew in a breath. “If you can’t value your own life enough yourself, then value it for me.” A breath. “I love you, Scott…please.”
Every rule, every philosophy, every self determination screamed at him to deny her. The thought of putting his life above others was anathema. But his strategic mind flipped the equation without permission and he saw his actions from her point of view.
His brain listed off his abilities, how he should have been able to handle the situation safely.
And how it had all gone so far south so quickly, and how only the quick actions of his engineer brother had prevented a very long plummet down a very high cliff.
His first thought had been gratitude and admiration for his brother’s skill and the fact the rescue was a successful one.
He didn’t register Virgil’s grunts as anything other than simple exertion. Now looking back, now he didn’t have his arms full of terrified rescuee, he could take a moment to examine exactly what had happened.
Virgil hadn’t said a thing.
He had rappelled them back up the cliff. It had been all business and as the adrenalin had waned, Scott had just felt tired. Em took the rescuee into Two and after a silent scan with Virgil’s mediscanner, Scott had returned to One.
It was just another rescue almost gone wrong.
Virgil had just saved the day…again.
What if he had waited? Would the man have fallen?
His heart feared what would have happened if he did. That was why he had jumped himself despite the fragility of the rockface.
He looked up at his beautiful wife. “I don’t know if I can stand by and risk a death I can prevent.”
Her lips thinned, but her eyes were sad. “Neither can I.” She drew in a breath. “Commander Scott Tracy, as Lead Medical Officer of International Rescue, I’m citing you for reckless self-endangerment and recommending psychological review.”
His eyes widened. “What?”
“I can’t lose you, Scott.” Little more than breath. “Not like this.
“I just can’t.”

This is a Virgil/Kayo fic that I couldn't stop thinking about.
I have so many fics to finish in my drafts but this got in the way and I really couldn't stop myself :)
To avoid misunderstandings;
Italicized words in sentences are the words I want to emphasize.
Italicized sentences in quotation marks are conversations that happened in the past.
Italicized sentences that are not in quotation marks are the thoughts of the character.
I hope you enjoy!
○○○○○○
The Thing Between Them
She was tired. It was really hard for her to accept, but she was tired.
She had emerged from Shadow in a way that wasn't graceful to her, and immediately headed for the showers.
She knew it would be difficult to get to the shower if she went to her room. Even the thought of sleeping was restful. She didn't even need a bed or a pillow, she could sleep if she just closed her eyes.
The shower woke her up a bit, but she was still tired.
As she walked through the living room, the messy remnants of the party she had missed hours ago stood out.
Actually, it was impossible not to notice, some decorations had come up to the stairs.
She could celebrate Virgil's birthday tomorrow - no... morning. It was already the day after his birthday.
She wanted to go to him first and never leave again. Really. But it was 4 in the morning and he must have been asleep already.
So she went to her room, quietly.
The familiar scent of perfume in her room was comforting. It's like he just left her room...
This was normal as they spent the night in each other's rooms.
It wasn't every night. They were being very careful not to get caught, but that didn't stop her from memorizing the scent of his perfume.
Especially when she steals one of his shirts that smells like him. Lumberjack shirts were starting to look appealing in a not so strange way.
" Your shirts are nice, maybe I can get one to wear when everyone on the island finds out about us..."
Even though she wore his shirt to temporarily cover her body, which was dressed much less than usual at the time, she was serious in her words.
Virgil had never insisted on telling the others what was between them.
It was something between them at first, she knew with all her heart that she loved him now.
" Kay..? Love?"
He had no idea what he was doing to her. And when he first called her love, she had hoped that her heart rate was normal according to science.
She was really angry that day. And she had devoted the whole night to destroying the punching bag.
And she could do it if only Virgil hadn't called her that.
She didn't know what to do, she just slipped into his arms and shed silent tears.
"I'm sorry love, I'm fine."
What she said shouldn't have sounded normal... but the words had fallen from her lips unwittingly and she hadn't even realized what she was saying until his eyes froze as he stared at her.
Neither had slept for the rest of the night. Virgil had listened to her, without question and with interest.
He didn't know how much she needed him. He had pulled her out of a well and he didn't know it.
She had never thanked him enough, and this day she realized that it might not be as much time as they thought.
There was just... a question she was afraid to ask even herself.
She was focused on sleeping until she saw a box in the corner of the bed. It was too big to be a jewelry box, she should have noticed as soon as she entered her room...
She wasn't expecting a package anytime soon, and she wasn't actually expecting a gift either.
She lifted the lid of the box, a green lumberjack-style shirt neatly folded.
She didn't need anything to know who it was from. However, when she involuntarily grabbed the shoulders of the shirt and lifted it, a note appeared behind the dress-style shirt.
...
You no longer have to wait for everyone on the island to find out about us
...
She wanted to run to him and hug him not caring what time it was.
She probably wouldn't need to do that. Footsteps approached, some too quiet to be heard.
Virgil wasn't content with not being able to do anything before she noticed or woke up. But that was her job, and she was sensitive to his presence.
So she didn't have to wait for him to realize it was him.
"Today is your birthday. You could've at least waited until I gave you your gift."
A growl came from behind her.
"Technically the day after my birthday."
Yes, she had noticed this before.
One arm wrapped around her waist and the other gently gripped her neck.
His warm breath slid down her neck to her cheek as she effortlessly found his hands, and he placed a small kiss.
"And now, I got my gift." He held her tighter than ever.
So he knew what happened today. She was close to death once again.
"So... Did you like your gift?" She could feel his breath on her skin as he spoke.
It was impossible not to hear the sarcasm in his voice, but she knew he was doing it to make her smile.
So she smiled.
And he knew she wouldn't want to talk about what happened today.
She looked at the messy appearance of the dress on the bed, which she literally left in the air to hold his hands.
She didn't even need to check that it was her own size.
Squares has been created with stripe patterns in blueish green color on white.
There was also a thin white belt to wrap around her waist and it looked really pretty when she combined it on her head.
"I love it. Thank you, love."
Their generosity was undeniable when it came to a Tracy. And she had learned not to say 'no need' to Virgil Tracy any time, if he wanted or bought something.
When they first started dating, she wasn't used to being given presents. Virgil's answer was always the same; "You deserve the world, Kay."
"Its color is beautiful." She said as she turned towards him.
"Still, your eyes are my favorite color." He whispered as he pulled her into a kiss.
He had a slight taste of coffee on his lips. It seemed normal to her at first. He drank coffee every morning.
Most days she'd catch him alone with coffee in hand, and get a little kiss.
"I thought you were asleep."
"I could not sleep." He must have known she didn't believe him because his eyelids fell.
He had stayed awake for her.
With all her strength, she got on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around his neck.
She inhaled her scent as his arms quickly wrapped around her waist.
What had happened today had shown her that she had to tell him everything she couldn't say before it was too late.
"I love you so much, Virgil Tracy." Her voice was muffled as she buried her face in his shoulder.
He kissed her damp hair and she could feel his breath in her ears. "I know. I know, Kay. Did something happen? Is it about what happened today?"
She lifted her head to look into his eyes. Pure worry gleamed in his eyes.
"Do you know how precious you are to me? What would I do without you? Virgil-"
"We almost lost you today, Kay. And I-"
"Every day. Every day we can lose each other... We always think we have too much time but-" She rested her forehead on his chest and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry... I ruined our moment."
"Hey, hey... Do not be sorry. This is our moment. Laughing, crying, even arguing, I'm grateful for all of them."
He moved her hands slowly to her head, to her cheeks.
"And I want us to live more of these." He slapped her forehead for a kiss and continued. "I love you, Kay. Too much. And I know how much you love me. I don't need words to see this, okay?"
How?
She replied with just a small nod.
A deep breath tickled her ears as arms wrapped around her waist again. "There is something else you want to talk about."
Sometimes she forgot that he knew her better than she did. Damn, they could have done so much nicer things right now than this conversation.
"It scares me sometimes."
He didn't understand and was looking at her with questioning eyes.
"How much we love each other." She took a breath and continued. "Virgil... If you have to choose between me and your family-"
"You're family too, Kay."
Today a man had to choose between his wife and brother. It was quite possible for them to be in the same situation in their work.
The man certainly couldn't choose and Kayo had positioned himself to ensure that they both survived. She had come face to face with death.
"I know but-"
"Kay, When I consider both separately, both options will kill me... I know what you're scared of, and I'm scared too."
"Virgil, I don't want this to end."
He kissed her forehead again as he hugged her tighter. "I'm glad we want the same thing."
God. What would she do without him?
"You haven't slept in hours, Kay. You're tired and don't object, your eyes are giving you away."
"You too." She said trying not to yawn.
He had stayed awake for her... and what were they talking about now...
"You should have had a drink and some fun, Virgil, and you should have been asleep at this hour."
"You know I'm not a great drinker..."
She didn't believe him, either this time, and when he realized that, he averted his eyes in disappointment.
"I couldn't have done anything, Kay. You could have died there and I couldn't have done anything."
"I'm so sorry. I ruined your birthday, I-"
"It's not a birthday that I care about, Kay, it's just you. I don't care about anything else right now." His hands gripped her tightly, as if convincing himself that she was here. And she never wanted him to leave.
His hands went to her cheeks again and he kissed her.
"Now, you are going to bed. If you don't sleep, Gordon will always talk about the dark circles under your eyes."
She was too tired to turn this offer down.
She was really starting to have a headache, damn how many hours had she been up?
Normally at this time they would leave each other's rooms. The early birds of the island would soon wake up.
But she didn't want his to leave her.
"I do not want you to go."
The hands holding her loosened but still kissed her forehead.
"I will lock the door."
Under normal circumstances, what they said might sound a little... dirty.
But most of the time it was their normal, she walked slowly to the bed as Virgil pulled away from her with a small nod and a grunt.
"Are you sure? I mean, I don't want to leave you either, but at this hour-"
"Come to the bed, love." Then they would find something to say to the others. Then when she looked at him, his eyes said he didn't want to go. "God... What did I do to deserve you?"
He didn't want to go, but he still asked because she didn't want the others to know about them...
When he somehow turned off the light, she could feel him, even if she couldn't see him.
"You deserve the world, Kay."
When he finally comes to her, she curled up against his chest and a happy mutter escaped her mouth. "I love you."
He started to stroke her hair gently.
"Love you too." He said while kissing her head.
Today, he couldn't celebrate his birthday because of her.
He had never forced her into something she didn't want.
He had saved her countless times before.
He deserved much better.
"Virgil?"
"Hm?"
His hand was still in her hair.
"I want to tell them about us."

All mistakes are my own, there is a high probability of grammatical mistakes, I corrected another mistake almost every time I read it...
I saw this shirt while surfing the web... and then this fic was living in my brain rent-free for days.
I hope you like it!

Some of my OLD Thunderbirds fan art 🙈 The first three are from 8 years ago… @idontknowreallywhy wanted me to share them with the rest of the Thunderbirds Are Go fans 🙃 They’re a LITTLE embarrassing and the photo quality is AWFUL… but oh well.
I was a traditional artist back then ☺️💕
The last picture of Kayo is my most recent piece, so you can compare 🌷

Resurface 2 - React
Smashed out some more words on the old commute. Am writing poor Virgil’s story from both ends now - this sits somewhere in the future where it all comes back to bite him (and happens immediately after this scene).
Train fic means unedited for now so please forgive heinous errors. Also it was a toss up between “solar flare” and “rare earth minerals” (thanks @gumnut-logic) for what is hampering Five and EOS for tension purposes - had to hamper them somehow else they are a bit OP. Also one of the other Thunderbirds has Magic so… *fudges everything*
💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙
“HOW CAN HE HAVE DISAPPEARED? WE LIVE ON AN ISLAND!!”
“I’m doing my best, Scott, but the solar flare is overwhelming some of Five’s sensors… there are only so many overrides EOS and I can…”
“Sorry. Yes. I’m sorry, John, it’s just…”
“I know.” The precise set of John’s jaw revealed his tension but otherwise he was projecting calm, sympathetic professionalism.
Scott looked around at the various shades of brave face the remainder of his family were wearing. Allie looked sick as a dog but stood tall and his shoulders were squared. Gordon was muttering aggressively and glaring at the island infographic as if it was deliberately withholding information. Brains was whispering to MAX and recalibrating scans at the speed of desperation. Kayo’s expression had set into neutral with the slightest tension in her frame which he recognised as her readiness to spring to their defence against… whatever was happening.
What WAS happening? It had been so fast and Scott had been so absorbed in his own thoughts he didn’t have any answer for what happened in the seconds between Virgil cheerily entering the room bearing coffee and him bolting like a startled hare.
“And he’s not been hiding an illness? His vitals were…”
“Entirely within normal range until 14 minutes ago when there was a sharp spike in heart rate and blood pressure for 6 minutes then he…”
“Disappeared.”
“Became invisible to Five’s scans, yes.”
“Maybe he took one of the boats?” Gordon ventured.
“Negative, EOS has scanned the dry dock, they are all still down there.”
“And no unexplained life signs?” Scott knew they’d covered this but he just couldn’t accept the answer.
John sighed but answered patiently “No, Scott that was the first thing we checked.”
Scott paced and tried to drag his mind out of the spiral of imagining the various scenarios in which his brother could be somewhere a life sign wasn’t. He needed to compartmentalise. This was just another search and rescue mission.
Rescue. Not recovery. Please not recovery.
“Ok. Manual search it is. Brains, you and Max use the drones to access the caldera and the more remote parts of the western slopes. Kayo, Gordon take Thunderbird Four on a clockwise sweep to check the beaches. Alan, you and I will…”
“JOHN!” EOS‘s voice was shrill and Scott’s heart froze.
“Thunderbird Shadow has commenced her launch sequence!”
Kayo’s eyes widened in shock.
“SHADOW? What? Why?”
Everyone looked blank.
“Is Virgil in there? Can you reach him?”
“Sorry Scott, she’s already cloaked and there’s no reply on comms.”
“Stop the launch then!”
“I can’t, we’re locked out.”
“I can.” Kayo, pulled up her remote access and wrestled with the controls for a few seconds before breathing a sigh of relief. “Ok, she’s not going anywhere. Um…”
Scott was already heading for the elevator to the hangars when his sister’s uncharacteristic uncertainty arrested him. He looked back. She swallowed.
“We may have a slight problem.”
“What? What is it Kayo??” Scott knew he was raising his voice but it was that or burst into frustrated tears which was… not an option.
EOS answered first.
“Thunderbird Shadow halted her sequence on the outside of the cliff face.”
Virgil was suspended over a death drop.
“Can we lock him inside?” Gordon had clearly reached the same horrified conclusion as his eldest brother had. Kayo shook her head.
Brains stepped forward “Unf-fortunately n-not as currently configured. The p-pilot’s ability to exit is always p-prioritised over remote a-access in c-case of… c-compromise.”
“I get it. Not your fault Brains. EOS?”
“I’m working on it Scott.”
“Good, in the meantime I’ll grab a couple of jet packs.” Scott headed for the hangar again.
“SCOTT! Wait!” John had dropped the professionalism which arrested Scott’s momentum faster than a brick wall.
“What now John??”
“Let the others go. You have to change.”
“WHAT?!”
“He can’t see you wearing… that.”
Scott looked down at the dress uniform he had forgotten he was wearing and ice crept down his spine. This… was the problem? He suddenly realised John knew something that he didn’t and cursed himself for not finding out what it was already. But now wasn’t the time.
“Right. You three, take jetpacks and get up there but don’t let him get out before I’m with you. I’ll be there asap.”
“FAB.”
💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚💙💚

UNREQUITED
Co-written with @janetm74
As you may remember, there's a series of pieces on Scott and Kayo being idiots shadow-dancing with some complicated feelings and inhibitions, and baggage, that came to pass due to the incredible contribution of the amazing @janetm74. And now it's taking a more coherent shape as a uniform story! Some chapters you've seen already, some have never been published. There are no words to express how excited and grateful I am it's happening and moving forward (albeit in an angsty direction, so far).
The whole story as it progresses is now up on AO3.
Previous bits in order can be found here:
Ch 1 (blue like she'd never known)
Ch 2
Ch 3 (hurt like this)
Ch 4
CHAPTER 5
(accustomed to misfit)
It was extremely rare that they sparred. Virgil preferred heavy lifting to tatami for keeping his field game up. But he specifically requested a training session for that morning. It was her job to keep them all in shape and defense-ready, among other things. Although, she had a pretty good idea Virgil's motives were far from pure. Just like his poker face was far from perfect.
She flew in late the night before. Technically, the next day was her personal downtime, but she didn't feel comfortable leaving the island unattended for the night. Leaving them all unprotected. Leaving HIM alone with the shadows.
The date was nice. Wayne was nice. She really enjoyed his company. When not stuck up by regulations - his jokes were half decent. He had field stories in abundance she soaked in like a sponge - chases, investigations, cover-ops. He saw her interest and delivered. Wayne SAW her. She let the kiss last. They agreed on a second date, their respective schedules permitting.
She half-expected, half-dreaded to walk in on the Commander pulling an all-nighter with reports. Maybe half-hoped too, just a little. She didn't know what she'd see in his eyes. The exuberant enthusiasm he'd displayed so far made her blood run cold and her heart keen. But the dark lounge was empty.
She curled in a ball in the scolding shower, once in her room, and bawled her eyes out, like a love-sick little girl she'd never been. Not exactly a reaction she'd expect after the first decent date she'd had since college. It wasn't fair to Wayne. It wasn't fair to herself. Unrequited love wasn't ever fair. So she promised herself she wouldn't BE that girl. EVER.
And now she was sparring with Virgil. Sweetest, kindest Virgil, who cared for her. Who wanted what was best for her, like they all did. She made no mistake - Virgil cared for her, but he loved his big brother like he was air. She understood the feeling. That's why she agreed to a second date with Wayne. To allow herself no way back.
"Do you like Rigby?"
She was atacking, Virgil was parrying. She was backing him into a corner, but it felt the other way around. She doubled down on speed and force.
"He's okay."
"You deserve more than okay, Kayo."
Virgil danced away from her reach and left her in the corner, all of a sudden. She saw red. Unforgivable, as his trainer. Understandable, as his sister. If only Virgil knew, what he was saying!
"Is that so?"
Cross-cut, block, block. She took a swing, Virgil evaded.
"What DO I deserve, then? To be invisible?"
Another swing. Undercut.
"To be a shadow?!"
Roundhouse kick.
"To never be loved back?!!"
She was breathless from shouting, or from exhaustion. Virgil stopped at some point, not heeding the hits she was raining, but Kayo didn't even notice. Strong, safe arms closed the embrace, while she was still raging and raving, and just held her. The shooshing noises enveloped her senses as there was no more voice left in her tears. Kayo broke her own promise and wept.

Gordon (Part 3, Bit 1)
Tumblr media
Part One | Part Two | Part 3 - Bit 1
This fic was started in June 2019. It is a very much ongoing WIP. I’m not sure if this bit works and may alter it later, but it is what I have written for tonight.
This is the second of the Marks & Wings fics. Getting closer to the end, but still a little bit to go.
Thank you to @phading for poking the inspiration.
I hope you enjoy this little bit.
-o-o-o-
Virgil was cold and in pain.
On any normal day, one hundred kilometres would be nothing. His wings were perfect for long distances as much as Scott’s were good for aerobatics. Virgil’s wings were as sturdy as he was and took soaring in their stride.
But he had been flying for most of the day, had been up early for that damned rescue that had started all this-
A sudden downdraft in the cooling air and he staggered, both wings screaming at him.
A flash of pale grey and he only had a split second to dodge something suddenly in his flight path…
Aching wings, exhaustion…he flung himself to the left, his right pinion wrenching as he dodged the protesting bird.
His flight spiralled, the world spinning in shades of blue and the last light of the long gone sun. His right wing wasn’t responding, the muscle shooting pain at his addled brain.
The ocean was leaping up to tear him from the sky.
Scott was going to kill him.
The thought of his big brother and his aerial acrobatics…
His sunny smile as he dove around Virgil, defying gravity in ways Virgil couldn’t even dream of mastering…
A breath, a moment of stillness as the air rushed past him.
Virgil spread his wings and braked.
His right wing wouldn’t fully extend, but it extended enough and he broke the spiral, swooping out of the dive. He yelled as he skimmed across the ocean surface, narrowly missing being caught by a wave.
He rode the energy of his descent in a wide arc until he had no choice but to climb.
The first stroke told him he wasn’t going to make it.
Whatever he had done to his wing, it was crippling. He could work it, but not without fire running the length of the pinion.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, John was screaming at him, Gordon flailing and pleading.
But there was nothing he could do about it.
He gained a little height, but not enough. He could grab at the air, but could not extend enough for a solid glide.
His flippant determination with Kay earlier…she had been right. She usually was.
God, he loved her.
She was going to kill him.
If he survived.
He couldn’t even see the lights of Tracy Island.
But as he grabbed painfully at the air like an injured raven, there were lights.
Red.
Green.
And the hiss of specialised rocket engines.
Shadow was barely her name as she shot out of the darkness into a hover below him.
Relief was was everything as she shone a spotlight as if reaching out to hold him.
He couldn’t hover, but she could, the elegant Thunderbird edging up beneath his faltering flight.
Stroke after painful stroke, he held himself aloft as she carefully manoeuvred into reach.
And then he was collapsing onto fuselage almost as dark as the night it was slicing through.
The moment he gave into gravity, her ‘bird stilled, hovering above the Pacific that tried to claim both him and his brother today.
He might have lost a moment there, swamped with pain, but her gentle hands caught him before he could face plant on cahelium.
“You idiot.” It was muttered as she assessed him, drawing his head onto her shoulder.
Chest still heaving, he curled into her embrace, wings limp in a ragged, half-spread cloak around them. “At least I didn’t get eaten by sharks.”
She grunted. “Yet.”
He closed his eyes and let his breath sigh out between his teeth.

Hi! This is the second part of The Thing Between Them. I wasn't even thinking of continuing this when I wrote the first chapter, but I hope you like it anyway!
I have a fic that I just published and left the first episode here and that continues in my drafts and excites me. Even though my brain wants to go in a regular order, unfortunately my muse doesn't have a proper order.
I just followed my muse...
I have two more chapters in mind to continue this maybe some action and whump... I'd love to know if you're interested, but this idea just came to my mind so I don't know if I'm going to continue, so... yeah.
I hope you will like it!
Part 1 is here.
Silent Promise
Kay was asleep in his arms. Her head was resting on his shoulder, in the crook of his neck, and she looked very peaceful.
It was very in tune with this moment. When it was just Kay and him, it was so peaceful that he never wanted to leave.
Sometimes he couldn't believe how lucky he was.
If they had told Virgil six months ago that she would be in a serious relationship, she wouldn't have believed it. Now when he looked at the woman sleeping on his chest- he was really lucky.
And Virgil hadn't been able to sleep for the past six months, and especially today as he thought about how lucky he was.
Kay didn't believe him, but he really couldn't sleep. He almost lost her...how could he sleep?
At some point in the rescue, everyone in the house was focused on the holo-table. It had taken her a while to reply to John, and in those few seconds Virgil's world had stopped spinning.
There was an emptiness in his heart that he couldn't describe, and at that moment he really- really thought he had lost her.
Morning he had seen her for the first time in two days, when she wasn't a hologram, and he hadn't had a chance to say goodbye to her as she left.
This was probably the reason for the emotional intensity before going to bed.
Virgil had never insisted on telling the others what was between them. Both had reservations, but Kay- she always held herself back.
There were many reasons why she didn't want to; normal reasons, like growing up like a sibling, or reasons that worry him, like she doesn't think she deserves this or him.
They had outgrown most of them, and Kay didn't talk about the topic of their brothers learning about them as often as before.
Only the words when he woke up to go to his room before the others woke up on the nights he stayed in her room brought up the subject.
It was impossible to get out of bed, let alone leave the room, without waking Kay, and she would come to Virgil's room because she knew he didn't like it.
He didn't want it to be just his decision to tell the others, they could wait until Kay was ready to say it, and Virgil said it often.
And some nights he would show how much he loved her.
Still, Kay would blame herself, even if she didn't show it. When Virgil managed to seep through the cracks in her walls, this feature of her hit him like a second wall.
She had once gone so far as to say that he deserved much better than a relationship behind locked doors, and it took some time for Virgil to convince Kay that he respected her choices.
They had each other. And knowing that was enough for him, so it didn't matter who knew or not.
And already some people in the house knew the thing between them, no matter how careful they were.
Kay had once said she suspected Grandma knew about them, and John knew them, they were sure of it.
Everyone knew how hard it was to keep secrets from John, but Virgil couldn't help wondering how long he had known.
When Kay went on a mission or to the rescue and something went wrong, he would always meet John's eyes in the hologram.
And every time he would answer the question that was on the tip of his tongue but stuck in his throat.
"She is fine."
And if something did happen, he would somehow let him know.
Whether Virgil was alone or not, he would let him know, and he was grateful to his brother for that.
But today he almost lost her.
He might not see his favorite color eyes again, he might never be able to kiss the owner of the smile that brightened his day...
And Kay still thought of his birthday, which he hadn't thought of for hours.
She blamed herself again, and he was sure that she wasn't just apologizing for his birthday. Because after that she said she wanted to tell them about their relationship.
Before telling everyone, Virgil wanted to make sure she wanted it because she really wanted it, not because she blamed herself.
She said this for him, he knew this because he knew Kay.
She might not have slept for hours, had gone on missions in a row, or even came back from the dead, yet she thought of herself last.
Everyone in this family was like that but Kay was living her feelings behind her walls so...
Kay deserved much better.
And he was lucky because somehow she thought the same about him.
God, he loved her.
And of course this peaceful moment had to be interrupted...
Light began to shine from the edge of the night lamps on either side of the bed.
It was a green light, not a white light, so he was being summoned, not Kay.
Thank God...
She had only been asleep for two hours.
He didn't want to wake her but-
"Every day. Every day we can lose each other..."
And she would probably wake up when he moved anyway.
He ran his hand softly on her cheek. "Kay?... Hey, love, I have to go."
Her breathing suddenly changed and she snuggled deeper into his neck. "Can't you stay a little longer?"
He wanted nothing more than to stay.
"Honey, look at the lamps," He kissed her while stroking her hair. "If I stay here any longer, John will find out about us officially."
"We had already decided to tell them."
And she bent even more towards him.
"And John already knows." A pause. "We should buy a present to thank John."
This was adjustable.
"Yeah, we can arrange this."
Just to wake her up, she lifted her upper body a little and placed soft kiss on her forehead and then her cheek.
His attempts seemed to have failed, as her delicate hands slid further down his waist.
He was leaning forward a little to return the hug, but Kay had chosen that moment to turn towards him.
Everything was too fast and too slow at the same time, which was technically impossible.
One breath and the distance between their faces closed.
His lower lip was between soft lips and- his brain short-circuited...
A hand settled on his cheek, the kiss deepened even more... And Virgil couldn't think.
When she leaves to take a breath and gently presses her forehead to his, he was still trying to gather his foggy brain.
When her other hand finds his cheek and their lips meet quickly, Virgil was ready to take this further.
It wasn't that Kay would let him, because he was being called to the rescue-
Oh.
Rescue.
Teeth were touching his lips and his brain was sending signals that numbed his lips. Or maybe it was just because he was too sensitive to Kay's touch.
He really couldn't think straight and-
Her tongue was moving...
God, Kay...
And her lips parted from his.
They were both out of breath, and Kay was fully awake. Even in dim light, her pupils could be seen dilating.
"Virgil..." She was still out of breath. And her voice was a bit far from normal. "God... I love you."
If she only knew what she was doing to him...
And he had used all his will to place a kiss on her forehead instead of her lips. "I love you."
She put her head back on his chest and in that moment it was just them. They were in a peaceful moment again, and Virgil could stay here forever.
"Love... you should go."
Yeah he should...
His brain was still foggy and he clearly couldn't shake off the impact of the- that moment.
"I love you, Kay."
She was smiling. So of course she knew what she was doing to him.
"And, love you too. Virgil, you-"
"Yeah, I am going."
And finally he made a move to get out of bed.
He was nearing the door when he noticed Kay getting up too.
"You should keep sleeping, love."
He was sure she was rolling her eyes, but she couldn't see her beautiful face because of the dim light behind her.
"Says the man who waited for me for hours."
A few steps later she was next to him and she kissed his cheek and then handed him a box.
"You get the chance to open it at 2, so I hope. I don't want to give this to you any later."
A gift?
Oh. For his birthday.
"Kay-"
"And please be careful." A pause. "You must go now, John may know but he still doesn't know officially so..."
"Yeah."
"Virgil-" he silenced her with a kiss, he knew what she was going to say.
Her arms were wrapped around his neck just like before they went to bed, and he slid his hands down to her waist, pulling her towards him.
And now he had to go.
Even though he had to leave her, she was smiling when he looked at her.
One last kiss on her forehead and whispered into her ear. "I love you."
And he unlocked the door and went out...
He wanted more, and he was sure Kay wanted it too, so it was a silent promise between them.
His lips were still tingling as he tried to those thoughts from his mind.
And this time he had no idea what to tell John about why he was late and about the box he was holding.

I’m having so much fun with Thunderbirds Are Go! It’s one of those weird shows that’s way better than it has any right to be. As a fan of TOS I’m hooked!
Part one of however many of these comics I’ll end up making, feat. Kayo handling her bunch of brothers and slaughtering her evil uncle every time she sees him! 🥰

Recommendation to mutuals: I really loved Thunderbirds Are Go!
The rescues have the right balance between being based on future technologies and grounded in the real world where it could theoretically be possible. It carries the spirit of the original of how the rescues would be so nail biting because of what could likely go wrong.
There's also certain improvement to the original when it comes to characters. The Tracy Brothers and Kayo have more identifiable personalities with the brothers feeling like, well, brothers who'll roast each other playfully but be there for each other come what may.
You even have Parker being unscrupulous at times with episode revolving around his "misspent youth" and how he values the second chance he got.
Perhaps the real star of the show is that of the model environments that the CGI characters and vehicles interact with. It sort of carries on the spirit of Supermarionation by why of puppeting the CG models across real life construsts. Sometimes I can't always tell which setting is real or animated.
The first two seasons are on Amazon Prime with clips of it on YouTube. Look up the launches for the vehicles and tell me that they aren't epic as all hell.
