yeonjun sighs, clearly frustrated that you can't understand what he's trying to communicate to you. you both have been arguing for the past half hour and yet you can't get it through your thick skull that yeonjun doesn't care about those other people.

"okay, but the problem is that you are acting like it's your business. i just don't understand why you've been ghosting me after i've been hanging out with my colleagues."

he hears you scoff and frowns, as if that gives him any clarification as to why you were acting this way.

"right, like you would definitely want to hang out with me after spending time with them," you mumble, almost quiet enough that he doesn't catch it.

"y/n," he states, his voice dropping to a whisper to match your tone, "why wouldn't i want to hang out with you?"

watching the tears slip out of your eyes is heartbreaking to yeonjun, to say the very least, but he doesn't want your crying to deflect the true nature of this conversation. instead, he places a palm on your shoulder for comfort and asks you again, softly, why you'd ever think he wouldn't hang out with you.

"because all your friends are perfect!" you exclaim between sniffling and tears, refusing to meet his eye, "and i'm the farthest thing from that. they're all funny and kind and good-looking and probably have enough money to take you out unlike me. why would you ever choose me over them?"

"c'mere," he whispers, pulling you into a hug and tracing circles along your back, waiting for you to calm down.

"y/n, first of all, this isn't a choice. i can hang out with them and i can hang out with you. just because i have fun with them doesn't mean i'll leave you for it. but if it ever needs to be done, i want you to know that i always, always would choose you over them. you're my best friend, okay? even though you might not see it, you're ten times more funny and kind and good looking than them. heck, hanging out with you in your apartment is more fun than going on trips with them, okay?"

he hears your heavy breathing slow down, and notices your eyes look up to him, all red and teary-eyed.

"why do you always see the best in me?" you ask, so softly, and yeonjun knows he can't hold himself back anymore as he detaches himself from you and puts his hands on your shoulders, gripping you to understand his intentions.

"because i love you!" he exclaims, with finality, and it's enough to make you go silent, dead in your tracks.

"i love you y/n. i always have, and i think i always will. seeing you insecure breaks my heart because you are the most amazing person i've ever met. i wish you could see yourself the way i do."

yeonjun's heart is pounding, so vividly out of his chest as he fears what you might say to him in response. he doesn't want to screw over the relationship you both already have, but the truth was bound to come out sometime soon.

but as you pull him in for a kiss, whispering his three words back to him, he knows he's made the right choice.

I am pleased to announce that Rhiannon Ally has been named co-anchor of “World News Now” and “America This Morning.”  

Rhiannon is an accomplished journalist with a wide variety of experience who first joined our ABC News team in December 2021 as a freelance correspondent for NewsOne and substitute anchor for our overnight programs. In those roles, she expertly covered high-profile stories, including the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell and the war in Ukraine.  

Before joining our ABC team, Rhiannon co-anchored the primary weekday evening broadcasts, including the Emmy Award-winning 10 p.m. program, for KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Missouri. In that role, she anchored many breaking news events, as well as the Kansas City Royals’ World Series championship. Prior, Rhiannon was co-anchor at WFOR-TV in Miami, Florida, where she anchored coverage of the Boston Marathon bombing, Hurricane Sandy and the papal conclave when Pope Benedict retired. While at WFOR, Rhiannon, a mom of three, also created her own weekly series focusing on modern parenting.  

Rhiannon also worked at WCBS in New York as a substitute news anchor and entertainment reporter, and co-hosted Meredith Broadcasting’s nationally syndicated lifestyle program “Better TV,” where she conducted one-on-one interviews with newsmakers that included Madonna, Denzel Washington and Gloria Steinem. She is also the author of the children’s book “Mommy, Please Don’t Go to Work!,” inspired by her children and mothers trying to balance it all.  

In this new role, Rhiannon will work alongside our talented overnight team. I am extremely proud of this dedicated group whose work continues to shine as “ATM” dominates the competition in all demos, and “WNN” is consistently a strong performer in overnight.
