a/n: i’m so sorry love, sorry this is a few days late but you are so loved and appreciated no matter what, hope this makes you happy today <3
it’s been a recurring theme for most of y/n’s life. the overheard quotes about the older sibling had eventually become a reality. they didn’t even wait for y/n to try and live up to them. instead, they just accepted that their daughter wasn’t as good as the rest of their children.
as upsetting as it is, kids experience it too much. y/n experiences it every day, so when she realized it wasn’t normal, that’s when it started to hurt more every year.
this day was supposed to be different. she was so excited, turning 18 and finally being an adult. free of her parents if she wanted to be. she thought that maybe, just maybe, her parents would think of her for a day, and make it about it. alas, the second she woke up and walked into the kitchen, y/n’s hopes were shut down.
“y/n, can you take y/b/n to practice? i’m going out with sharon today,” her mom said, barely even looking at her.
“uh, i’m leaving in a bit, remember?” she speaks, trying to sound as polite as possible. “the fishers invited me over for today.”
“hon, we get it,” her dad talks next, peering up over his glasses and newspaper of the town. “but, to some point, it’s just another day. just do what your mother asked.”
y/n looks at her little siblings at the table, messing around and receiving no repercussions. she still remembers when that was her. playing with her parents, happier than she ever was again. she loves her siblings to death, but she loves herself, too. y/n deserves more than she’s been given, so she confides. she drives her brother to whatever practice, wishing him luck as he whispers a happy birthday, then jumping out of the car to see his friends.
she’s already dressed up for the party for belly. the fishers had welcomed her with open arms, even having decorations and sweets for her on the table. everyone figured she’d have something going on at home, but oh, they were so wrong. she didn’t receive a single birthday message from the people who gave her life, so did it matter? even if she didn’t believe it, at least the fishers knew she was worth it. she was dressed in one of her best outfits, a simple dress with small flowers printed over. she had small wedges and her hair was done neatly. she felt pretty, she is pretty.
she walked into the house, belly hearing the door open first. she skips toward, engulfing y/n in a huge hug. “y/n!” she squeals. “happy birthday!”
“oh, belly! happy birthday to you, you look so cute!”
“are you kidding? your man’s gonna go wild when he sees you!” she whispers, making y/n blush toward the end.
“belly, stop!” she nudges. “he’s not my man… yet.”
they giggle together before moving back into the kitchen where y/n greets susannah and laurel, along with the rest of the boys. conrad stands up first, in a heartbeat. he walks over, almost lifting y/n off the ground in a hug.
“hey! happy birthday!” he tells her, excitedly as he pulls away. jeremiah comes piling in next, saying his words to the person he considers a sister.
“didn’t y/m/n have anything planned?” susannah asked from the pure kindness in her heart.
“oh,” y/n mutters. “we, uh, we did something yesterday.”
conrad can tell when y/n lies. he can read her like a book at this point. he’s spent so long fanboying over her that he knows what she’s feeling. when she’s sad, excited, pissed, he knows. it pulls at his heart when he can sense the disappointment in her voice. he starts to get more alarmed with every drink she takes throughout the day. she’s not even a big drinker, never really taking an offer. now he’s positive somethings wrong.
if y/n’s parents didn’t care about her, they don’t care if she drinks, right? she’s with her friends, she’s allowed to. plus. it’ll take the edge off of the internal wounds her parents have left her with. her feelings on the whole matter start to disintegrate for a while, until belly’s cake comes out and is handed to her. it’s so nicely done, perfect detail and so much love. they put time into her cake and party, and y/n can’t help the jealousy rising up. she vividly remembers every one of her younger siblings birthdays. all of them having their friends and a party, while y/n was just locked in her room on her birthday. the presents and the cheesy grins from everyone were overwhelming every year. she couldn’t help but think about what it could be like with her real family. maybe they could love her as much as she deserves, but in reality, they won’t. they can, but they chose not to, which hurts even more.
y/n stumbles around on the balcony, around people while carefully savoring every last drop of whatever is in her can. she’s probably had too many, but she doesn’t care. it’s almost like it’s reversed itself now. she watches belly open all of her presents and receive hugs and kisses, and the lump in her throat becomes thicker. she thinks of the alcohol as her enemy now, just bringing back the thoughts in her sober mind.
it’s not until everyone hears the clicking of y/n’s heels on the pavement that they notice her walking away. her hand is swiping away the loose tears and everyone looks at conrad. if there’s anyone y/n wants to see, it’s him. they’ve been in love for so long, it’s almost painful to watch. as she walks away, blurry vision from the alcohol and the tears, she tries to grab another can from the box before a hand stops her.
“i don’t think that’s a good idea,” conrad says, gently taking it out of her hand and landing it back in the box.
“oh, great. more fuckin’ judgment,” she retorts, making conrad’s face contort.
“hey, what’s going on? you’ve been off all day.”
“i am, perfectly fine,” y/n slurs. conrad places a hand on her shoulder, and takes them to sit on the steps. his arm is wrapped around her, the other one gripping her hand.
“i know you’re not. it’s ok to not be ok,” he looks at her nose scrunch and her cheeks turn red again. “hey, hey, don’t cry, you’re alright.”
“no,” she weeps out, putting her head in her hands. “i’m a mess! i don’t know what to do, i cant make it any better and i’ve been trying for 14 fucking years!”
“hold on,” he keeps his voice low. “what do you mean?”
“my parents don’t give a shit. they haven’t since y/b/n was born and they didn’t even bother about me anymore,” conrad pulls her into his arms, leaning back as her teardrops soak into his shirt. “i didn’t do anything for this, and belly’s being loved unconditionally without having to fight for it. and i feel like a bitch getting upset over it but-“
“absolutely not. don’t say that ever again. you don’t deserve anything they’re giving you. anything they’ve said to you is a fucking lie. i know who you are. you’re the most perfect, beautiful person i’ve ever met, inside and out. you don’t have to prove anything to them, because they don’t deserve your amazingness,” he speaks to her. it’s nothing but the truth, and nothing he would ever hesitate to say. “and i will spend forever trying to prove to you that you’re nothing but beautiful a beautiful person.”
y/n looks up at him, only bursting into more tears as he laughs a bit. “oh, my god, conrad. i love you, so much. i know i’m drunk but i mean it more than anything.” she’s felt nothing like she does now. she’s never had someone accept her so quickly and with so much appreciation. she feels like she can do nothing but cry and just love on him.
“i’m glad,” he begins again. “because i love you, too. no matter what your parents say or do. they don’t define you.”
and in this moment, for the first time in a long time, y/n knows someone loves her. and he’s not just saying it for comfort. she doesn’t need her parents to be loved. if they can’t do that, there will forever be someone out there who loves her just as much. she knows she’s enough, and that’s enough.

What do you think the cards would look like for hoc’s secret distance and outcasts halloween events? I was mostly thinking abt costumes on the trained but scenes for the untrained would be cool too
aesthetically, i didn’t think the trained costumes would change much (for secret distance, i wish i was better at drawing/designing outfits, but please imagine how a masc-but-still-gnc version of the secret distance outfits would look. thats rui.)

halloween:
rui - same as normal more or less, the scene of the “argument” with an (tsukasa in the original event), but probably showing rui a bit more.. unkempt, actively dissociating about it. that vibe
hoc!kaito - also more or less the same but retranslated, kaito len rui and mizuki at the rooftop sekai as he gives rui and len a talk about doing shows with the others
mizuki - rectifying the original halloween event making nene a 2* for some reason, i think mizuki’s card scene would likely be a scene with them and rui (maybe after they finish the knight show)
an - while i am a big fan of how goofy tsukasa’s untrained from the halloween event is, i think for her arc as a character it makes the most sense for an’s untrained to be the scene with her and saki following mizuki going after rui
saki - when i was working on what my hypothetical card rarity distributions would be i had her written down as a 2*, and she has a relatively minor role so i don’t know if i could say a specific scene, i guess if an didn’t have the ansaki scene for her untrained saki would
secret distance:
mizuki - same as the original scene, reminiscing over the trip the group took while the other three nap, with that solemn bittersweet expression in regards to revealing their secret (although in this case, the fact only saki doesn’t know)
rui - timeframe wise most likely like kanade’s untrained, looking at the cherry blossom tree, likely him standing with mizuki given what i had written with them
hoc!luka - either the scene of her arriving like with n25!meiko, or the scene with luka and mizuki in the classroom
an - getting the shit scared out of her by rui ala ena’s card you LOVE to see it get wrecked gaygirl <3 (silly)
saki - also got 2* status in my distributions but this case i have a better idea of when it’d be which is the scene at the shrine

Ok, so fair warning - this discussion happens in a video that is part of one of the absolute worst series they've ever made, if you ask me. So just keep that in mind, I am not recommending this thinking you'll utterly love it 🤣.
In the last series they did with Jake and Corey pre-pandemic, they went to the Miami Biltmore Hotel and met with a psychic while there who told them that Colby had 21 past lives, among some other psychic stuff (actually, if I recall one of the things he told them had to do with Sam's grandfather which now that I think about it, is kind of interesting after the whole mess with the C**juring but I digress lol).
I actually do weirdly believe it, simply because I always thought I lived a past life (where I played piano). I have never taken piano classes, know nothing about the instrument, but had this moment of startling clarity one day where for about 60 seconds, I knew every single key and could've played a Beethoben concert if you had plopped me down in that moment in front of a piano. I've never had that happen since and all that fleeting knowledge about pianos is out of my head now. Anyway, I heard that phenomenon is a thing that people attribute to past lives sometimes, and that sounds cooler to me than just "hey, you might be a little crazy" so I'm rocking with that lol.
I do think Colby is the definition of an "old soul" - whether you believe that term to mean literally a recycled soul or just a person who is wise beyond normal earthbound human conception. It's kind of interesting to hear the psychic describe what he considers past life phenomenon to Colby, cause it's mostly stuff I would attribute to being an introverted old soul with a touch of anxiety...so idk. I wish he would've explored that a little more in a person channel video, tried one of those past life regression things, just so we could see how that process works and dissect it, but alas...as with anything I find interesting that I want him to do, he doesn't fucking do it.
Ah well. We shall live in mystery forever lol.

thinking abt how Gwen naturally just does not blink. they also just cry very rarely. even at their birth, they didn’t cry, they just sorta, stared.
so now thinkin abt how their tear ducts are probably dried out, because they just don’t blink. and they’ve been taught, and had the lesson reinforced, that crying is something that they shouldn’t do. so every time they need to cry, all they could think about is “wow. i couldn’t cry even if i was allowed to.”
and then if they ever do cry, its never tears. just thin streams of blood, because their tear ducts are so fucking dry. crying or even needing to cry physically hurts.

gwen’s also wished that they could just gouge out their eyes. they wish they couldn’t see so much, or in so much detail. they wish they didn’t have their talents because maybe then they’d be undesirable enough to just get rid of. when they were younger they would get paranoid, because they can’t tell if figures several yards away are watching them or if theyre just walking. death is so much more vivid to them.
and god, karl. looking at him physically hurts. the air around him, the details in his eyes. they hate every single tiny spec of that man, so much.
they have glasses, now, that dull out their eye sight; and have darkened lenses. but even with those their eyes still try to hyper-focus on their surroundings. they wish they could just look at things normally sometimes. appreciate the unknown, the unseen. but alas, they cannot.

Also, Varla's the right name ! It means "Star" in the Ayleid language because he is another self insert so he gets my name :3 He's a snow elf that worked on building structures out of super-durable, magically infused ice to protect falmeri cities, which is based on a headcanon I have that much of ancient falmeri architecture was made out of similar stuff, which is why so little remains of them. He learned a great deal of what he knows from roaming Apocrypha, something he kept a very careful secret from his peers for as long as he could. Alas, the physical effects Apocrypha has on Seekers began to show on him, but because he had done so much to protect his home from various threats it was ignored and he was allowed to continue his worship of Mora (and his roaming in Apocrypha) unhindered and unpunished. Also yes I did indeed make him so I could self ship with Mora ùwú (And also because I love snow elves and wanted a snow elf self insert. Snelf insert, if you will). As for your questions !!
He is a night person that stays up working until morning, and with that logic he calls himself a morning person!
He likes both, and which he prefers more depends on the scenario. If he needs to be awake it's coffee (sweetened with cream and sugar, occasionally brewed with cinnamon) and if he just wants something tasty to drink he'll make tea (green tea with fruits and honey is his favorite).
Hes got a weak grasp on the passage of time even before fleeing to Apocrypha, so he doesn't celebrate his birthday purely because he forgets to :3 When he does remember (normally a few weeks after the fact) he'll make or buy himself a lil treat of sorts :>
He loves reading !!! Varla especially loves reading up on magic--how it works, how various new spells have been created, theories on what can be done with it, things like that. He would also love reading adventure and cheesy romances as well! Mora makes sure there's a good stock of 'em for him lmao-

OKAY IVE ACTUALLY PLAYED TWO SESSIONS SINCE MY LAST POST SO IM GONNA COMBINE THEM HERE SORRY FOR THE LENGTH BUT,,IVE COME SO FAR I DONT WANNA STOP NOW
this is gonna be very messy cause i WILL be jumping back and forth as things come back to mind so uhh pls enjoy this absolute ramble <3
anyway. i continued playing omori and boy do i have some Thoughts
so first session; i went through the pyre(something i forgot the full name sob) forest/sprout mole village/sweetheart’s castle in one go and let me TELL YOU. DOING THAT WAS FUCKING INSANE I WENT NUTS holy shit.
so anyway.
pyre forest!!!! the lil race against the big spider coming after u for disturbing the smaller spiders mechanic was very fun i had a lot of fun figuring out the best routes to take. i know normally mechanics like that lead to ppl getting frustrated cause u have to keep retrying but i had a lot of fun!!!! sum annoyance but good natured type, th kind that just makes u try harder u know? i just enjoyed it JKFN;FN; candles in the foggy forest....now That is an aesthetic
the rare bear scared the fuckin shit out of me i remember it didn’t attack me straight away so i was like “aw (:” but then when i press x on him it takes me to a BATTLE SCREEN AND SUDDEN THAT MF IS TERRIFYING I WAS LIKE WHWHWHWHWKJDNJ. very funny i honestly wished i recorded my reaction
also omori is afraid of drowning...................................i am breathing heavily. i think whatever happened to mari is related to at least one of the things omori is scared of. so either heights, spiders, or drowning it seems. spiders doesnt seem super likely as a contributor to her death, and while falling from a height is more realistic, such a senseless way of dying doesnt seem to rlly fit ? with the vibe i get from the kiddos in the real world. which makes me think maybe drowning/otherwise suffocating is how she died...but we’ll see. also due to the forgotten library part, we know omori explicitly feared spiders/drowning before mari died so it’s also probable im jus talking out my ass here but still,,,,thoughts

i know it only spread that gas to make the kiddos happy cause being happy reduces attack i think ? it decreases attack/defense but seeing the kiddos smile so much was nice (:

leliana almost Murdered by cassandra in worldstate 5 because the warden is Actually There The Whole Time, but its been 10 years, mal’s cut off all her hair and gotten full facial tattoos and she’s like “no one will know its me its fine” and she’s right. she gets away with it. only cullen like, Knows, because he knew her before the blight but he doesnt have a death wish n he like. will Not piss her off
shes dalish by birth n she was stolen from her clan by templars and thus is vehemently anti-circle and anti-chantry in general

i’m very tired of certain people being perceived as believing/thinking something that’s Too Radical or Reading Too Much Into Something
so the response is to justify the thing they’re responding to as totally normal
and it’s like
okay not every time, but in this moment, the reality is somewhere in between
are these specific people taking it a little too far? yeah.
however, they’re mostly correct in their assessment.
just bc you deem them “irrational” doesn’t make what they’re responding to any different
and for context this is about fucking figure skating twitter drama lol
javi said a shitty thing abt yuzu
people got a liiiiiiittle too defensive (a few ppl, honestly probably bots based on the accounts, got a little threatening in their language without tagging anyone)
but their assessment of what he said is correct
but in response, ppl who think yuzu’s fans are inherently “nuts” or “over enthusiastic” or “always looking for the least charitable reading” just automatically re-interpreted javi’s words and i’m like
......OR you could shut up? and not care? since you literally have given no shits about yuzu or javi at all this entire time?
like i, as a person who loves both of them, am disappointed that javi would say something a little thoughtlessly/carelessly, but i’m also like--idk either of them. so i don’t particularly care any further than “great, more Disc Horse to be had abt yuzu and skating”
like javi was like “eh that hole in the ice didn’t ruin yuzu’s jump” and i’m like oh for fuck’s sake, here we go, more fuel for the assholes who look at a hole in the ice the size of yuzu’s hand right where his take off edge was for the salchow and say “nah that did nothing”
skaters have complained about ice quality before and it’s always been justified. the ice was rough for short track speed skating, too, bc they use the same rink. they kept falling in the SAME CORNERS.
so clearly the ice wasn’t entirely up to par for either event. most of the time skaters can adjust perfectly fine, and sometimes you get unlucky and don’t have the time to fix it.
clearly that’s what happened and that’s what yuzu SAID happened--unlucky, he feels fine, it happens, oh well.
so i’m just very tired of like--all of us going “oh my god that sucks abt that huge hole. i wish they resurfaced the ice more often for the sake of all the skaters! bc any lesser skater might’ve FALLEN bc of that thing!”
and everyone kind of moving on--except for a few like “he’s such a dick, blaming the other skaters!” ....okay.
we were all done. then javi said a thing. and ppl got upset.
and now everyone’s just like “calm down, clearly javi’s right and yuzu just made a huge error”
OR...we could just believe him (and other skaters like patrick chan) when they say that the ice quality was unlucky.
idk man i’m tired. like it’s such a simple thing--
it is BOTH that ppl should calm down a bit bc as parasocial as shit is, we don’t know how any of them are together when not in front of cameras
and also that it clearly was a thoughtless/unfounded thing to say and unfortunately within the context that everyone wants to find reasons to say yuzu isn’t the GOAT. lol
alas.

someone LITERALLY said “idk maybe we should believe skaters???” about what JAVI said when he RETIRED FOUR YEARS AGO
and yuzu did an interview IMMEDIATELY after the short program that HE. SKATED. HIMSELF. and mentioned the hole! he even went back to find the hole. he said he saw it during warmup and tried to avoid it but got the timing/location just wrong enough to hit it exactly. like!!!
~maybe we should believe the skater~ applies to the guy who retired four years ago BUT NOT THE GUY WHO FUCKING DID THE PROGRAM AND SKATED THROUGH THAT MASSIVE HOLE IN THE ICE??????

YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT ANY OF THESE PEOPLE INVOLVED YOU JUST WANT TO BE ANGRY AT PEOPLE YOU DON’T LIKE FOR NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON

Agagaf we were talkin abt a tw.e.wy au in a group chat so I’m gnna plonk stuff here I WISH U COULD PIT READMORES ON MOBILE
Darren and selkie enter the game together, although they die for very different reasons at… Tragically similar times.
Darren is literally set alight after being near-drowned in motor oil. As such, his hair is stuck that greasy black as a constant reminder, it’s essentially what happened in the main canon, except in main canon he got away with just a streak And yknow. Didn’t die.
Selkie died of an unfortunate encounter later the same night, wherein, unable to find Darren in his home, after sneaking over as she always did, she finds herself lost in the extremely bad area that is where Darren lived. She ends up mugged by two much, much larger people, and being as weak as she is, it’s not too hard to put her out for good.
Entry fees are… Well, certainly a thing. It’s honestly not too different from Beat and Rhyme, Darren not remembering anything about Selkie, and as such, acting extremely hostile towards her, something selkie recognises from their first ever encounter and something she never, never wanted to experience again. Alas… It’s back to square one, and while the two bond… It’s not the same, and never would be the same.
That is, during the fifth or so day, selkie’s erased, and in the panic of one having seven minutes to live, Darren’s approached by a reaper and offered the same position. With the fear of death lurking right there, he accepts. But in the back of his mind it feels wrong? He can’t quite tell why, but the rest of him tells him to judt keep living.
So he does, working up the reaper ranks. From support quite quickly onto Harrier… N then kinda stuck there because he’s not exactly the best. He just wants to live a kinda normal life aside from that,but there’s always a constant emptiness in everythin he does… Yeah, losing selkie was bad but he only knew her those five days, right???????????????
