The extremely long and very unorganized kaeya headcanon post I’ve been hoarding for a week -

my primary verse for him is a bit canon-divergent in that he was born in khaenri'ah to pierro and my oc zahara (who herself was born there, but her parents immigrated from sumeru together) and lived there until he was about six years old. when the cataclysm happened, pierro used a form of magic on him to essentially put him in stasis until a time would come that it would be safe to revive him. "canonically" zahara died in the cataclysm but i also write her, so she was put into stasis as well alongside him.

that moment came about six months before he was left at dawn winery.

the dialect of khaenri'ahn that kaeya speaks is the prestige dialect. it is not the same as what the "common folk" would use, since his family were higher ranking though not royal themselves, but it's still very mutually intelligible -- if he were ever talking with someone outside the court system, he might just come off a bit formal at first even if his personality shows otherwise.

that said, he hasn't used the language since he was seven years old and his development of the language kind of stopped around that age, since it wasn't like he had anyone to learn from at that point and he became immersed in/began using teyvat common from that point forward.

he can understand most of what the hilichurls are saying, but their language sounds very fragmented to him, like entire parts of words are missing, and he can't speak it specifically -- he's tried a couple times but ended up reverting back to the dialect he knows and it went downhill from there.

he carries a heavy guilt that he's the last khaenri'ahn alive who actually lived there once (to his knowledge, before he confirms that dain is also khaenri'ahn) and yet he can recall almost nothing about the culture, technology, or place itself.

he has killed hilichurls even after learning the truth. he's always torn between a sense of duty / obligation to protect mondstadt and trying to convince himself that to do so is an act of mercy. he always feels dirty and upset afterwards even if his poker face remains perfectly in place.

growing up, he played often with diluc, jean, eula, thoma, and barbara. he actually talked the most around barbara because even though she was a few years younger, she was learning the language too and he felt more comfortable trying to use teyvat common with her than with anyone else (except diluc). he could read khaenri'ahn at an age-appropriate level at age seven, but he was a little behind as far as written TC goes, so it was just...safer.

if you didn't know what to listen for, you wouldn't be able to tell that he has a slight accent on some words. it does come out a bit more when he's drunk, but most people attribute that to the inebriation.

he can't exactly point to a reason why, but he feels safer and more comfortable around women than other men. he's very secure in his gender and has never identified as anything but male even though he's not always traditionally masculine, but that doesn't really have anything to do with it ( as there is not only one single way to be a given gender ). the truth is that he has experienced a lot of pain caused to him by men (the abandonment from his father, the loss of his second parental figure, the attack from diluc even if he thinks it was his own fault, etc) that on some level he's always just waiting for the other shoe to drop and it's harder to trust. on the other hand, he's never been hurt by the women in his life -- much the opposite, people like adelinde and jean have only ever caught him when he fell. as a result he finds it much easier and much less stressful to form meaningful relationships with women.

kaeya doesn't care very much for the knights of favonius as a concept / organization in and of itself. however, he loves jean as basically his platonic soulmate -- the only real difference between his friendship with her and his romantic relationships are that he's less touchy and does not engage in physical intimacy (kissing, hand-holding, sex, etc) with jean that he does with those he's romantically involved with (and sex and romance are very much linked for him).

jean lets him get away with far more than she probably should, but for all kaeya jokes about being lazy and not wanting to do much, they both know that he's actually a workaholic and if she asks him to do something, it'll be done before he's out the door to her office.

there is also a degree to which kaeya takes on so much extra work because it's a distraction from the things that make him depressed and want to drink.

at the same time it's also true that he genuinely worries about jean and feels that it is his obligation as both her friend and one of the knights to make her life easier whenever he can.

he knows he needs to stop drinking so much, but he's really bad at holding himself accountable when it comes to that. the truth is that if someone else isn't holding him accountable and monitoring him, he'll slip back into old habits. he hasn't yet quite reached the point where he considers it "bad enough," but he's closer than he wants to admit.

anyway, he loves jean and the other people he works with, and even as sassy / sarcastic as he can get sometimes, he does love most things about mondstadt. it's for that reason that he doesn't hate this job. my take on his job is also perhaps a little different in that officially he's the cavalry captain, but unofficially, and especially without any cavalry to captain most of the time, his work is much more like a spy network ringleader. this is blatantly hinted at in his hangout since he references "informants" and things like that. additionally, he cleans up the "messy" things around mondstadt and basically contributes to doing the dirty work so that jean and the others don't have to. ( this is also why i really like him and rosaria as a ship.) he might tease the people of mondstadt for being ignorant about the darker sides of life, but the truth is that he's glad they don't have to worry about it.

it is true, however, that he holds no love for the anemo archon as a concept. he's pieced together that venti is barbatos and he has a field day teasing / tormenting him about that, but there is a level to which he acknowledges that venti sticks to his word about freedom. kaeya as an adult has never once been forced to attend services or even set foot inside the church and no one seems to care / notice -- which is perfectly fine with him. he has never felt punished for not being a follower and he knows he's fortunate that he doesn't live in, say, inazuma. as a child, he probably did have to attend if crepus ever went, but that imo is more like "the kids have to go where mom/dad has to go" and less about indoctrination, though i am sure thirteen-year-old kaeya may have had other opinions.

You cannot tell me that pierro and crepus didn’t have some kind of agreement that the latter would raise kaeya alongside diluc and watch over him. there is no way pierro would have gone through all the trouble and risk of saving kaeya just to dump him somewhere random. that truth may have been kept from Kaeya in order to discourage him from trying to find out what was really going on (it was) and he may have been encouraged to believe that it was random and he was just dumped there (this belief was definitely encouraged) but the truth is very much the opposite. As Kaeya has gotten older he’s started to piece this together and has more or less discerned the truth, but he isn’t ready to admit it out loud to anyone, especially not Diluc, even though he knows damn well that eventually he will have to talk to Diluc about it - assuming he doesn’t already know. (He’s not exactly eager to have that conversation.)

2: Do they have any daily rituals?

Talia has a pretty simple day. She needs caf first thing, seriously do not try and get anything out of her before she's had caf. She does some combo yoga/Force exercises to kickstart her mind in the morning, and she meditates before bed. She trains in some aspect each day. Whether its different lightsaber forms, different techniques.

For Zahara:

22: Given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?

Zahara is actually a talented artist, and she loves to sketch. Whether its friends, or people watching on her lunch hour.

For Storm:

31: Most prized possession?

Storm doesn't have much in the way of personal possessions, like most clones. He keeps his first medal, just something simple from when he was first sent out to service with his batch close to him all all times. It reminded him of his brothers, of life before the war. His batch all died, so it's a memory of them.

Swiftwire Mutheru Bio (Updated)

... Swift really was a massive Mary Sue, so I'm gonna fix that now!! As I mentioned before, this entire image was done by @sscaredssheep as a commission, so give them a follow to see even more of their awesome work! (Thanks again Nick, for doing such an amazing job on Swift! ;3)

Originally born as Asya Zahara Mutheru, she gained a new life as a cyborg Cybertronian under the name of Swiftwire Mutheru, where she is known by her two main roles that allow her to both blend in and stand out within Cybertronian society;

When working in the capital city of Iacon, she is a politician and the only member of the Council below the age of a thousand years who strives to break the mold of prejudice and old grudges, the kind that rebuilt the Council in its heyday, earning her the ire of the more old fashioned civilians and politicians alike who deem her speeches and promises of "a society built on equity and safety, no matter your past" childish and idiotic. For who could possibly believe in an immigrant politician claiming to do what she does only for the needs and wants of the people, when so many like her have failed and proven themselves mere liars and thieves for eons?

However, when she is back home in Vos, with her three husbands, and her beloved wife, alongside her (currently) five children, Swiftwire works as an artist in her home away from home... her beloved art studio, A Touch of Tera. Functioning as both her side gig to earn a proper income and a way for her to follow her dreams of being an artist, you will usually find Swift growing plants in the studio's greenhouse, containing both Cybertronian and Earth based flowers to mull her paints with (seriously, mulling paint is SUCH a satisfying thing to watch). From there, they'll be used to create anything she can paint onto, be it a canvas, a wall for a building someone commissioned her to do, or even someone's frame. Her four Conjunxes will rarely leave her studio looking the same way they did going in, if they'll let her try out her newest colour recipe on them for a "small" touch-up.

When she's upset or overly excited, Swift will usually end up rapidly speaking Swahili out of pure habit, due to her needing to remember that she must speak English to be understood. So if she's visibly angry and starts furiously shouting in Swahili... run.

When Swift sings, she BELTS due to her love of musicals, but should anyone play a song from either Phantom of the Opera or The Lion King, she'll find it impossible to resist singing along.

Zahara squealed with delight as she was picked up, her small tail wagging slightly as she burst into laughter when Papa gave her a smooch on the cheek.

As if to answer his statement, she babbled excitedly and waved the sleeved Duel Monsters card she had in her hand around. The card was put in a large plastic sleeve to prevent her from bending or tearing it on accident. It was one of the cards Atemu needed for his Dark Magician deck, a certain spell card. He would need two more of them, but it was a start

Yugi gave an amused chuckle, lovingly hugging and returning his husband’s kiss. When he pulled away, he looked at Zahara, who grinned excitedly.

“I’m surprised I’m home before you with the amount of work Kaiba loves to throw on me. But I did have an excuse this time. Zahara was being very fussy this morning after you left, and I didn’t have time to get a babysitter.”

His grin turned mischevious.

“So guess who had to make an impromptu bring your child to work day announcement by walking into Kaiba’s office with our little flower in hand. Eventually, he got tired of having her wail each time I left the room to get something, so he banished me to work from home until I have a babysitter for her.”

He gently took the hand that held the Spell card with a loving smile.

“So, I took this golden opportunity to get two boxes of booster packs for the new Dark Magician support set. I was gonna wait until you got back to open them together, but our little flower tried to open one while I was looking away. Show Papa what you found, Zahara!”

With a happy laugh, she put the card on Atem’s forehead and pulled her hand back to watch it fall on her side. It was the Secret Rare spell card, Eternal Soul.

Hypnovember 2020 Master List

Now that I have awoken from my post-Hypnovember nap, it’s time to post my 2020 Master List! in comparison to last year’s entries, a lot of stories this year delved more into either more intense kinks or more of my intense personal feelings than my stories last year did. Sometimes writing stories is a bit like reading my own tarot cards in that way- letting an ambiguous prompt roll around in my subconscious and sometimes being surprised or amused or even slightly unsettled by what it turns into. I hope you will find something in this group of works that soothes you, that turns you on, that intrigues you, and that most of all provokes a response. If you do, I’d absolutely love to hear about it. :)

Copying one of my favorite @jukeboxemcsa ideas, I’ve also included a HypnoBS rating for every work about how realistic the hypnosis/mind control is in each work (IMHO). In this ranking, 1 means to is absolute bullshit and 5 is a normal Tuesday night (for someone).

HypnoBS- 1.5. This would collapse like a house of cards. It’s a fun concept though.

Choice quote: “Something about the hypnosis- being in and out of each other’s heads and in and out of each other’s bodies all weekend- made her feel like she and Tris had merged in some way. Like there was a new, deeper understanding between them now- a telepathic bond.”

HypnoBS- 5. Maybe a 4.5 if you’re recognizing some nre magical thinking here. But- I’ve definitely had this feeling and this kind of experience- and I hope some of you have had it/will have it as well. :)

Day 5: Visor F/multiple 📰 😴 🛀 💻 👨‍🔬 🤪#

Choice quote: “Besides, everyone knew stormtroopers were kinky.”

HypnoBS- 4.5. Some of the exact details would need to be changed and thought through more thoroughly, but I absolutely believe you could do something like this if you wanted to. (And if you do, you definitely have to let me know. I know some of y’all out there go to Dragoncon.)

HypnoBS- 4? There’s different ways of reading this story, but my headcanon is that the consent here is pretty dubious.

Choice quote: “It was no use. She could sense her tail was still behind her. She couldn’t shake him. She should have known he’d come for her.“

HypnoBS- Let’s say 2. Although I think this could work really well for a fearplay scene in an appropriate setting (where someone wasn’t actually left unmonitored with extreme paranoia).

Day 15: Serve F/m 📰 😴#⭐

Choice quote: “He had put his heart and soul into the dish.They were hers now.”

HypnoBS- As a scene? 5 (depending on the person). As a long term effect, much lower.

Given you gave sympathetic qualities to Grimleal, I'm sure you could write sympathetic qualities to the Agarthans?

As much as I would love to say yes, the unfortunate answer is that I can’t, because the game gives me absolutely nothing to work with.

The Plegians and Grimleal have a number of things going for them when it comes to expanding their traditions, culture, and religion into something that’s not just “evil villain cardboard standee”:

There are multiple canon sources stating the Plegia is a theocracy established around the Fell Dragon, and further stating that worship of Grima is the faith of the land; while the game only calls the worst of them Grimleal, I think it makes sense enough to define a break between the Grimleal faith (aka the general worship of Grima) and the Grimleal cult (aka the people under Validar trying to resurrect Grima), whose actions do not reflect the larger faith.

Awakening itself shows us that the Plegians are not evil, first through Mustafa -- a man of honor who cares deeply for the soldiers he leads and who is only fighting for Gangrel because of threats made against his family -- and next through the forces that desert Gangrel in the final battle following Emmeryn’s martyrdom. While they’re brief glimpses in the overall scheme of things, they speak loudly of the potential that the Plegian people -- who, again, worship Grima as the major religion -- are opposed to Gangrel rather than supportive of his cause.

Though the game doesn’t highlight it, I feel it’s important to note that the villages in the chapter where we meet the Grimleal cultists who are hunting Nowi are almost certainly Plegian owing to where the Shepherds are; the fact that no one attacks them but instead thank them for the warning implies that Plegians are on average decent people.

Heroes strongly implies through M!Grima’s level 40 dialogue that Grima is not an evil entity who’s always been bad, but rather a jaded cynic whose abuse at human hands led to their desire to wipe out mankind. It’s reasonable to think that any religion established around the fell dragon would reflect far more of Grima’s words and actions before that catastrophic break than after, and equally reasonable to imagine that the people who follow it would use the fell dragon’s early interactions with humanity (where they were most likely helpful and protective )as their model for their way of life, rather than their destructive end following centuries of being taken advantage of.

This is what I started working with when I turned my attention to Plegia and the Grimleal as a whole. I know that everything I’ve developed for them is personal headcanon only, but it’s rooted in these facts that show Plegia’s people on the whole as very much Not Evil. Unfortunately, the Agarthans don’t get that treatment in canon:

The Agarthans aren’t a religion. As best we can tell, they might be a cult group divorced from any religious connotation. The fact that every Agarthan is implied to be part of said cult makes it hard to expand anything, especially given how little information we’re ultimately given regardless of the route chosen.

We never get to see any redeeming qualities in the Agarthans. Every single one we meet, whether it’s Thales, Kronya, Solon, or Cornelia, is utterly reprehensible; it’s only made worse by the nameless group of mages, researchers, and scientists that orchestrated the experiments that ruined Lysithea’s and Edelgard’s lives. If we don’t see anything that casts doubt on the picture shown, it’s really hard to come up with something humanizing that makes logical sense (especially since I really don’t think there can be redemption after acts that criminal).

All we ever hear about the Agarthans, whether it’s from the Nabateans or from their own mouths, is basically clear-cut evil. Even in Heroes, Kronya’s dialogues are unnerving if not outright horrific. There is absolutely no evidence provided in any of the canon sources that implies the Agarthans are in any way good, sympathetic, or compassionate even to their own (given how Solon and Thales had planned to sacrifice Kronya for the Rite of Zaharas without batting an eye), which leaves no basis for providing them with any kind of humane qualities, let alone any notion of redemption.

This topic actually came up in the past week or so and I expressed my frustration at the way the Agarthans were presented that made it impossible to extrapolate anything even remotely sympathetic about them. The above just provides a better outline of why it’s so difficult to establish something like that for them: because canon doesn’t give us anything to work with.
